A Straight Woman Forcefully Claims The Little White Flower Heroine - Chapter 2
“…Wait, wait, wait.”
“Don’t, don’t, don’t bite…”
Lu Chenyu hadn’t finished scavenging the supplies in the room when she heard the half-closed door behind her creak. She pulled out her blade while watching the zombie grope its way inside, took a step back, then suddenly lunged forward, grabbed it by the neck, and flung it behind her, smashing it onto the dilapidated bench at her back.
“Your grandma here hasn’t even found anything to eat yet, and you’re already coming over to make trouble! Eat my blade instead!”
Lu Chenyu raised her Tang saber and was just about to stab downward when the scene before her suddenly flickered twice.
The ruined restaurant flickered into a lavishly decorated room.
“What’s going on? What’s going on? Did the zombie king I caught… Aaaah!”
“System 4133 binding…”
“A system! The cheat ability the world owes me has finally arri—wait! Binding is one thing, but did you □□ into my brain?! It hurts, hurts, hurts, it hurts like hell!”
Lu Chenyu let out a howl. The scene before her changed completely, and through the splitting pain in her head, she barely managed to make out an exceptionally dim environment.
Her instincts from years of fighting zombies to the death immediately kicked in. Dark places like this were perfect for zombies to breed in!
That idiot system! How could it dump her somewhere like this?!
Lu Chenyu flexed her wrists twice and was just about to push herself up when she suddenly realized something felt wrong beneath her hand.
Her entire body stiffened. Tentatively, she squeezed twice more. No, no, no. She did not want to touch a zombie’s…
“Mm…”
A trembling whimper came from beneath her.
Lu Chenyu looked down even more stiffly. In the dimness, she saw a woman pinned beneath her. The hand she distinctly remembered having wrapped around a zombie’s neck was now clamped around the woman’s slender throat.
As for her other hand… Lu Chenyu stared blankly for a long moment, unable to recover.
No, zombies were neither human nor ghost anymore. They barely even looked human. Th-this… what kind of feeling was this?
The woman’s outer coat had slipped down and hung crookedly from her shoulders. Beneath the chiffon bow tied at her neck, her collar had also been tugged down several inches, exposing cool-toned skin.
Oh. Breasts. Right, right, humans had those. Ever since the apocalypse began, all Lu Chenyu had seen during her years of fighting zombies were things that looked neither human nor ghost. As for herself…
Feeling a little nostalgic, Lu Chenyu pressed down once more as the thought crossed her mind.
“Mm… Let… let go!”
The person beneath her suddenly struggled. In the dimness, something warm and wet brushed the back of Lu Chenyu’s hand, followed immediately by a utility knife that caught a faint glimmer of white light.
Lu Chenyu cried out in surprise. Suddenly realizing the other person was human, she quickly released her, then stared at the utility knife in her hand in silence. “…”
What could that pathetic little blade even do? It couldn’t even scrape the skin off a zombie!
“You…” Lu Chenyu backed away half a step, about to explain just how useless a weapon like that was, when another stab of pain shot through her head.
“I…” Lu Chenyu clutched her head, stumbled back a step, and fell against the low table.
System: “Welcome to Rose Bones! As the strongest and most mysterious villainous big shot in this novel, your current mission is—”
“Pin down the heroine, Qin Wei! Coerce her! Disrupt her life and worsen the relationship between her and her lover. Then, after the heroine fakes her death to escape, reunites with her lover, and takes revenge on you, you must die in tears, thereby achieving the ‘deeply satisfying’ ending!”
Lu Chenyu’s eyes went unfocused, her head buzzing so loudly that she didn’t catch half of what the system said.
It wasn’t a cheat ability! This lousy system hadn’t come to give her a cheat ability! Her cheat ability! She had scraped by in a zombie-infested world for three entire years, finally waited for a system to appear, and it wasn’t even here to give her a cheat ability!
What use was this system?!
“Move… move!”
While she was still stunned, the heroine, clutching her collar closed, shakily got to her feet and shoved Lu Chenyu hard. Then she staggered unsteadily toward the door.
A woman. Sigh, a woman.
“…I’m straight.” Lu Chenyu stared speechlessly up at the ceiling and, in her despair, let out several strange laughs. “Out of all my lesbian teammates, how did you manage to bind yourself specifically to me?”
“You’ve definitely got a wire loose in your brain.”
The system crashed. “A-a straight woman can’t do it?! Then I’ll send you back—”
“Wait, wait, wait…” Lu Chenyu cut it off. She glanced at the heroine, who had accidentally bumped into something and fallen to the floor. She still hadn’t managed to get back up, yet she was clutching the utility knife warily, pointing it at Lu Chenyu as she slowly scooted away.
“Wait.” Lu Chenyu stood up, stared at the utility knife in the heroine’s hand, and took a deep breath. “I… I can do it.”
Go back? What idiot would abandon a perfectly good civilized society and go back to fighting zombies?! That utility knife wasn’t even as sharp as a zombie’s teeth!
The mission. The mission. W-wasn’t it just pinning down the heroine? She could do it! She was capable! In the apocalypse, she had even pinned down mutated three-headed zombie monsters!
She’d do it!
Lu Chenyu raised a hand and loosened the button beneath her collar, then took one heavy step forward.
“D-don’t come over here!” Qin Wei clutched the utility knife in one hand while pressing the other against her injured left leg. Her eyes brimmed with tears as her trembling body stared at Lu Chenyu.
Lu Chenyu stopped again and took a long breath.
“Uh, allow me to ask one cautious question. If I don’t pin her down, there isn’t some punishment, right?”
System: “This system does not have a punishment function.”
Lu Chenyu sighed in relief, immediately feeling much lighter. “Then—”
“But it can send the host home with one click.”
“NO—” The thought of endless zombies made Lu Chenyu stride straight toward Qin Wei. After a moment’s consideration, she restrained both of Qin Wei’s hands with one hand.
Don’t be scared, don’t be scared. She was straight, so she couldn’t do anything anyway! Looking at the fear on Qin Wei’s face, Lu Chenyu repeated the thought to herself several times.
The utility knife waved twice in front of her, but as Lu Chenyu tightened her grip, there was a clatter and it fell.
Quick-eyed and quick-handed, Lu Chenyu caught it and was just about to ramble a few words.
The system interrupted, “Host, your identity is the mysterious villainous big shot of this novel. Please mind your speech.”
Lu Chenyu swallowed her words back down.
“I’m just a heartless machine who knows how to kill zombies! How the hell am I supposed to know how some mysterious villainous big shot should talk?! You’ve been bound to me this long and haven’t even given me a scrap of plot information or character settings to look at!”
“This system doesn’t have anything like that. When the host acts out of character, this system will issue a warning. Once you receive more than three warnings, the host gets to go home!”
Lu Chenyu: “Are you insane?!”
“I’m not like your other hosts! I don’t want to go home!”
“L-let go.” Qin Wei’s body trembled as she tried to struggle free from Lu Chenyu’s grip. Tears hung in her glassy eyes, clearly visible even under the dim lighting.
Lu Chenyu instinctively reached out, wanting to wipe away the tear beneath her eye and sigh a few comforting words the way she had whenever she rescued other survivors during the apocalypse.
But the system’s warning alarms exploded wildly inside her head.
“…” Lu Chenyu’s temple twitched several times, and she still couldn’t stop herself from complaining inwardly—what kind of sin had she committed?! She had struggled to survive three years in the apocalypse, and this was the system she finally got?! This was the mission she got?!
She was so straight that even when her two teammates were hugging each other and moaning right beside her, she could sleep like the dead!
“I-I’m sorry. I came into the wrong room.”
While Lu Chenyu was still twitching in frustration, Qin Wei, whose hands were trapped and who couldn’t struggle free, suddenly apologized. The tears threatening to fall from her eyes spilled onto her collar, shattering soundlessly.
“Let me go. I’ll… I’ll leave right away.”
Qin Wei’s face had gone pale. A thin layer of sweat seeped across her forehead and ran down along her temples.
Lu Chenyu looked at Qin Wei’s left leg, which was braced against her knee.
She had twisted her ankle. A small bump protruded around the joint.
“Host, you have two chances remaining,” the system reminded her beside her ear. “To allow the host to take control of the character more quickly, this system has implanted some everyday memories into the host.”
A strange assortment of memories about the unfamiliar room suddenly appeared in Lu Chenyu’s mind. She glanced toward the wall, ripped off the button she had loosened earlier, and flicked it with her fingers. With a tap, dim yellow lights came on inside the dark private room, though everything remained hazy and indistinct.
Mysterious. She had to stay mysterious. She couldn’t reveal too much of herself!
Lu Chenyu steadied herself and lowered her left hand to support Qin Wei’s injured foot.
“Don’t…” Qin Wei cried softly.
“Wrong room?” Lu Chenyu forced a deep, low sound from her throat. Releasing Qin Wei’s hands, she smoothly lifted the other woman’s chin, peering at her through her long, slanted bangs with half-lidded eyes. “Miss Qin, none of Hanlin Waterside Pavilion’s Number One rooms are open to the public.”
“You didn’t deliberately come looking for me?” Lu Chenyu stared at Qin Wei’s deathly pale face. As she spoke, she casually rubbed Qin Wei’s ankle. There was a click, and the bone slipped back into place.
“…Mm!”
Even though Lu Chenyu had deliberately distracted her by talking, Qin Wei still clenched her teeth and let out a muffled groan the instant the bone was set back into place.
Lu Chenyu glanced at her own palm and sighed—she was too used to fighting zombies and had failed to control her strength.
What a sin!
“I… I didn’t.” Qin Wei’s entire body tensed. Trembling, she reached out to press her ankle, but the instant her fingertips touched Lu Chenyu’s hand, she recoiled. Lu Chenyu still caught her hand in one swift motion.
“Heh.” Lu Chenyu let out the same contemptuous chuckle she used whenever she took down a teammate who tried to ambush her.
She stood, habitually sweeping aside the loose strands of hair blocking her eyes. Her pale gray eyes fell coldly upon Qin Wei.
“Miss Qin, I think you should consider yourself lucky that you happen to be exactly my type.” Lu Chenyu let go. The loose strands of hair fell back down, once again concealing her eyes.
Qin Wei stared at those eyes, startled by an inexplicable sense of familiarity, only for the unfamiliar woman before her to suddenly seize her by the shoulder again.
Qin Wei hurriedly grabbed the utility knife that had fallen to the floor and hid it behind her sleeve.
Lu Chenyu gripped Qin Wei’s shoulder and effortlessly hauled her up. She glanced at the utility knife Qin Wei had picked up again but didn’t pay it much attention, dragging her along as she shoved open a concealed door in the wall.
A huge floor-to-ceiling window appeared before her, and beyond it lay scenery as beautiful as a deep forest. Lu Chenyu suppressed the corners of her mouth that desperately wanted to rise and, without changing expression, tossed Qin Wei onto the sofa inside the room.
“I…”
Lu Chenyu looked at the terrified woman on the sofa and clenched her palms hard twice, her heart going cold.
What a sin, what a sin. Lu Chenyu repeated it silently while thinking through everything she could remember about those two teammates of hers, who had somehow gotten together without her even knowing when.
The apocalypse had long since stripped away every form of entertainment, and even embracing another person had become a luxury. Yet those two teammates of hers had certainly known how to have fun. During the day, they were two equally powerful mortal enemies who stole zombie kills from each other, using their fights as an excuse to grab each other by the neck and kiss a few times. At night, they transformed into a cold, aloof doctor and an arrogant CEO, somehow turning even the act of wrapping a bandage into a whole drawn-out performance.
When they were alive, Lu Chenyu had found the two of them unbearably noisy. Only after they died did she realize how miserable a world without human voices could be. It had gotten so bad that she had turned into such a chatterbox she would even talk to zombies.
“…” No, no. She was getting sidetracked.
Lu Chenyu raised the eyes hidden beneath her hair, and the aura around her abruptly changed. She leaned over Qin Wei, pinning both of her hands down and folding them inward against her body.
“Shh.” Lu Chenyu lifted her chin slightly. With her other hand, she found a black remote control on the sofa and pressed a button. She stared at Qin Wei’s face and moved faintly closer, her posture suggestive even as her tone remained cold and indifferent. “Miss Qin, who sent you here?”
“Did you really come into the wrong room?”
The instant Lu Chenyu pressed the remote, the curtains over the floor-to-ceiling windows suddenly closed, leaving only a narrow crack through which a thin sliver of light filtered into the increasingly dark room. Then, amid the darkness, waves of noisy voices suddenly sounded.
Qin Wei stopped struggling. Amid the chaotic noise, she heard Zhou Jing and Zhou You’s voices.
Why would Hanlin Waterside Pavilion have something like this? And who exactly was this person in front of her…?
Qin Wei stared at the unfamiliar woman in astonishment. In the pitch-black room, she could only make out that the other woman was tall, her shadow falling over Qin Wei until it nearly swallowed her completely.
“Sorry. Can Miss Qin hear a little more clearly this way?” Lu Chenyu rubbed the remote between her fingers right in front of Qin Wei, then coldly pressed another button.
The surrounding noise faded somewhat, making Zhou Jing and Zhou You’s voices much clearer.
“Sister, can you wake up already? What exactly is so good about Qin Wei? If it weren’t for her, would you have had to lower yourself and flatter all those people just now?”
“You keep saying Jingwei is something the two of you built together and telling me not to be biased against her! But the moment Jingwei finally got on the right track, she washed her hands of everything. Now that the company’s in trouble, she can’t help with anything at all! What difference does it make whether Jingwei has her or not?”
“Can you stop protecting her already?! Just break up with her, apologize to Mother, and then tell me—which one of those people just now would you ever have needed to curry favor with?”
“Zhou You, enough.” Zhou Jing’s voice sounded muffled and indistinct.
But Zhou You was still like a firecracker, exploding the instant she was lit.
Her voice came from the other side, yet it seemed to detonate right beside Qin Wei’s ear, making her ears ring and her vision blur.
“Why shouldn’t I say it?! I called her and told her to come pick you up, and she still hasn’t shown up! She doesn’t care about you at all! Zhou Jing, you—”
“I told her she didn’t need to come. Teaching is tiring too.” Zhou Jing sounded exhausted, with a trace of suppressed frustration in her voice. “Even if she doesn’t involve herself with Jingwei anymore, Jingwei still belongs to both of us.”
She seemed to pick up her phone.
The next moment, Qin Wei’s phone vibrated inside her bag.
Lu Chenyu stared at her with the hint of a smile that wasn’t quite a smile.
“We’re not done listening yet, Miss Qin.”
