Accidentally Picked Up a Rich and Amnesiac Alpha (GL) - Chapter 52
In the H City Hospital, Wen Shuyan was undergoing emergency surgery while Song Tingxue waited anxiously outside the operating room.
Song Tingxue’s eyes were terrifyingly red. She had changed out of her blood-stained costume and removed her headpiece. She sat outside the operating room, her face already streaked with tears.
“A-Yan, you’ll be fine. You’ll definitely be fine. We promised we’d go to Elf Island for vacation. We promised…”
Xiaole stood watching, deeply distressed for Sister Song.
How could such a good person like Sister Yan encounter something like this? Some fans are truly terrifying and crazy nowadays.
Xiaole’s phone rang again. It was Director Xiao. She glanced at Sister Song and stepped aside to answer. “Yes, Sister Song is right here… We’re at the hospital… She’s fine, not injured…” Xiaole lowered her voice. “Sister Yan is still in surgery. She hasn’t come out yet.”
“Wen Shuyan, don’t you want to know where your sister is? Tomorrow night at 8 PM, we’ll meet at Dayu Sea.”
“Wait, who are you? Why should I believe you?”
“It’s up to you. You can choose not to come. After all, you’re the one desperately looking for your sister, not me.”
The person’s voice, even distorted by a voice changer, sounded smug, the light mockery hinting at a frantic obsession.
“Don’t send anyone to take your place. I won’t talk until I see you in person. Don’t even think about calling the police, or I guarantee you’ll never see your sister.”
The scene shifted. A yacht sailed on the dark sea, approaching the L City coastline. A bodyguard suddenly turned on another, plunging a knife into his chest.
“Brother Qiang, w-why?”
“A-Xin, I’m sorry. Someone offered me a large sum of money to kill Wen Shuyan. I have to kill her today!”
A-Xin looked at the two other team members standing by, former brothers, in disbelief. “Them too?”
“A-Xin, money is good. Who would pass up money? I know you’re loyal and stubborn. I knew I couldn’t persuade you, so I had to take you out.”
A-Xin said no more. He grabbed Gong Qiang and shouted loudly, “Miss Wen, run!”
There was no escape on the boat. Wen Shuyan heard A-Xin’s muffled groan and the sound of a heavy object falling onto the deck. Then came hurried footsteps. Wen Shuyan jumped into the sea before she could even grab a life preserver.
After hitting the water, she heard an angry curse, then the sound of something else entering the water.
She thought it must be a raft or dinghy. Were Gong Qiang and his men coming after her to finish the job?
She dove underwater. Soon, she heard the small raft paddling away, growing fainter.
The sea was pitch black. The icy water made Wen Shuyan shiver uncontrollably. She surfaced. On one side was the yacht; on the other, a faint light in the deep darkness—that must be the L City coast.
Wen Shuyan stared at the yacht in the distance. She didn’t dare swim back. She didn’t know if Gong Qiang’s men were still on board, or if any of the crew had been bribed.
Wen Shuyan turned toward the faint light where the sea met the sky.
She decided to swim towards it. It was her only chance for survival.
Like the brave and tenacious woman who crossed the strait, she had to swim. She didn’t need to cross a raging strait; she just needed to swim toward that light—which must be L City.
Darkness enveloped her, accompanied by cold and despair.
Her body temperature rapidly dropped in the icy seawater.
Although she knew how to swim and was quite good at it, she couldn’t fight the continuous drop in body temperature.
Every stroke was incredibly strenuous, slow and exhausting, difficult and painful. She wanted to give up countless times, but then she thought of A-Xin, who sacrificed his life to save her. A rush of warmth surged through her chest. She couldn’t let him die in vain.
She also thought of Manman, who might be waiting somewhere for her rescue, a place perhaps darker, colder, and more despairing than where she was now.
Wen Shuyan gritted her teeth, commanding herself to persevere.
She didn’t know how long she swam. She ran out of strength, utterly exhausted. Her body slowly sank. Seawater poured into her mouth and nose. She choked, and tears mixed with the seawater, blurring her vision.
All around her was endless darkness and the sea about to swallow her. She felt the approach of death.
Just then, she felt something, flat and long, floating on the water. Yan Qingqi touched it again, suddenly filled with immense joy, crying and laughing.
It was a surfboard, a surfboard someone had lost.
Yan Qingqi was incredibly grateful to that person, grateful to Heaven. She draped herself onto it, trying to keep her head up, paddling with her arms, and swimming toward the L City coast.
Inside the operating room, doctors worked frantically to save her. Yan Qingqi lay on the operating table, eyes tightly shut, unconscious.
A stronger electrical current was applied. Yan Qingqi felt her whole body convulse.
On the monitor, her heart rate began to beat strongly again.
The cold, dark seawater vanished. Beneath her was a soft, comfortable sensation, as if she were lying in bed, with warm sunlight on her face. She felt incredibly comfortable, too comfortable to open her eyes.
But a dark shadow suddenly blocked the sun.
Yan Qingqi opened her eyes. She saw a beautiful, delicate, pure, and adorable face, a pair of bright, dark eyes looking at her closely.
The face, as white and smooth as fine porcelain, looked like a noble princess. Her lips curved into the softest smile. “Sister, I like you. I really like you. Manman wants to stay with Sister forever.”
Manman?!!
Yan Qingqi instantly woke up. It was her sister!
Where are you, Manman? Where are you? Manman, Manman…
Yan Qingqi reached out, trying to grab the figure by the bed. Wen Shuman smiled softly at her, then suddenly ran away.
“Manman, Manman…” The patient’s lips moved, making a weak sound.
Song Tingxue, who was guarding the bed, heard Yan Qingqi’s faint murmur. She grabbed her hand, delighted. “A-Yan, A-Yan! You’re awake!”
Yan Qingqi struggled to open her eyes, seeing the most familiar face.
Red-rimmed eyes smiled down at her, hot tears welling up.
“Songsong.”
Song Tingxue smiled and nodded. “How are you? Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?”
“My, my chest… it hurts so much…” She spoke slowly, trying to point, but found her body limp and powerless.
Song Tingxue quickly wiped her tears. “The doctor said to rest well. You’ll slowly get better.”
“Mhm.” Yan Qingqi paused. The scene of the shooting flashed before her eyes. Gong Yue shielding her, taking the second bullet. “Songsong, how are Gong Yue and the others?”
“They’re also in emergency care. Gong Yue and A-Li are severely injured,” Song Tingxue sniffled. “Sister Sisi is with her.”
“Sister Sisi must be crying. If anything happens to Gong Yue and the others… I, I’ll be so sorry to Sister Sisi.”
“A-Yan, don’t talk like that. Everyone will be fine. Look, you were shot in the chest, and you’re awake.”
Heaven knew how terrified Song Tingxue was outside the operating room.
The doctor told her the bullet was very close to her heart and she had lost a lot of blood. The doctor didn’t say more, but Song Tingxue naturally guessed that A-Yan’s situation was extremely dangerous.
Yan Qingqi smiled weakly at her. Her usually refined and elegant face was utterly pale. “Songsong, don’t cry. I’m awake, and I’ll be fine.”
Song Tingxue’s tears streamed down, one after another. Unable to hold back any longer, she leaned on her, her tears quickly dampening the blanket. “A-Yan, I was so scared, so incredibly scared! When you recover, I’m quitting acting. Let’s be normal people. I don’t want anything to happen to you. Nothing is more important than you!”
Yan Qingqi understood Songsong’s worry completely. No one in the world understood her fear and terror upon seeing her shot better than Songsong.
“How can you do that?” Yan Qingqi curved her lips, smiling softly. “You stopped filming halfway. You can’t just quit. You have to finish what you start. I’m waiting to watch the finished film… Don’t cry, wife. I’m fine. Don’t cry, be good…”
Song Tingxue was gently coaxed, but her tears only flowed faster. She hugged Yan Qingqi tightly. “A-Yan, A-Yan…”
She hugged her so tightly, like someone who had recovered a lost treasure, surviving a disaster, her heart filled with the most devout gratitude.
Outside the door, hurried footsteps sounded. Jing Michu rushed in from outside the ward, anxious and frantic.
“Cousin! Cousin! How are you?!” She rushed to Yan Qingqi’s bedside. Seeing Yan Qingqi alive and talking to Song Tingxue, the lump in her throat finally eased.
On her way to H City, she had decided that she must make her cousin return to the Wen family this time. She was the Wen family heir; nothing could be allowed to go wrong.
“Oh, it’s so good to see you safe and alive!” Jing Michu sighed heavily in relief.
“You’re going to deafen me.” Yan Qingqi, annoyed by her loudness, felt her forehead and chest throbbing.
“Bah! No taboos! You’re lying in a hospital, so I can’t mention that word. I was just worried! I was halfway through a board meeting, and I flew here immediately.”
Yan Qingqi saw Jing Michu sweating heavily. Her forehead was damp, and her face had been deathly pale moments ago. She was clearly worried sick about her.
“I’m fine. Don’t worry too much.”
Song Tingxue had sat up straight the moment Jing Michu burst in. “Miss Jing is here.”
“Wife, don’t be formal. You can call me Xiao Jing or Xiao Chu.” Jing Michu asked a few more questions to understand the injury, sometimes frowning, sometimes nodding.
“No, I need to talk to the doctor. It’s best to transfer you to S City today.” Jing Michu went out to find the doctor.
The room quieted down again. As the two looked at each other,
Yan Qingqi said, “That’s just her personality. She’s always fiery and efficient, a true action-taker.” After saying a little too much, Yan Qingqi coughed twice.
Song Tingxue quickly cranked up the bed, helping her sit up and feeding her water.
After two sips of water, Yan Qingqi felt better, regaining some strength.
Song Tingxue looked at her, her lips moving, as if she wanted to say something but hesitated.
“What is it, Songsong? What do you want to say?”
“I heard Miss Jing call you Cousin just now. Are you, are you really her cousin?”
At this point, Yan Qingqi no longer wanted to conceal her identity. She held Songsong’s hand, deciding to tell her everything.
“Yes, she is my cousin, my aunt’s daughter. I also have another cousin, Wen Huiyu, Dr. Wen, whom you met at Huatian Hospital. She is my uncle’s daughter.
Actually, there’s a lot I don’t know. I only just remembered it. Earlier, on the operating table, I felt dizzy and disoriented. It was like countless voices, countless people and events, violently colliding in my mind. There were so many things that my head was about to explode. I was in agony. I wanted to tell those voices and images to stop crowding in, but they kept relentlessly pulling at my mind.”
Song Tingxue hugged A-Yan, letting her gently rest her head on her. She lovingly stroked her head. “A-Yan, don’t think about it. You just woke up. You need to recover properly.”
Yan Qingqi shook her head, smiling faintly. “Don’t worry. I’m fine now. All those voices and images calmed down later. I suddenly knew who I was. I truly realized I was Wen Shuyan.”
She pulled Songsong, making her sit up. Once Songsong was seated, she looked seriously into her eyes. “Besides those two cousins, I have one sister, my biological sister, named Wen Shuman. But she disappeared three years ago.”
Song Tingxue’s eyes widened slightly. “Disappeared?”
“Yes. A few days after her 20th birthday, she vanished without a trace. I’ve been looking for her for three years. The day I fell into the sea, someone told me he had news about my sister and arranged to meet me. Then something unexpected happened.”
Yan Qingqi was afraid of alarming Songsong again, so she didn’t tell her that Gong Qiang tried to kill her, nor the hardship of desperately swimming for her life in the sea.
“Then I arrived in L City. My mind was in a haze. I was preparing to contact Jing Michu, but suddenly, a group of people attacked me. I must have hit my head and collapsed on the road. You know the rest.”
Song Tingxue curved her lips. The rest was the beginning of her reunion with Miss Yan.
As the two were talking, Jing Michu entered. “Cousin, I’ve talked to the doctor. I’m transferring you to the S City hospital tomorrow. Once you’re discharged, you can recuperate properly in S City.”
Yan Qingqi: “I’d rather stay here. I don’t want the trouble of moving.”
Jing Michu: “Cousin, please listen to me this once. Are you never going to come home? Trust me, the medical facilities in S City are better. Everyone will be together, making it easier to take care of you, and you’ll be safer at home. You’ve had two incidents now. This time, you almost… In any case, I can’t let you be out here anymore. Otherwise, I would fail my mother’s dying wish.”
“What did Aunt entrust to you?”
“She entrusted both of you to me. She told me to help you and not argue or fight with you, but that depends on the situation. If it’s right, I must stand firm. Wife, don’t you think my sister should go back for treatment and recovery?”
Song Tingxue felt a chill, hearing that she had had two incidents. The first time she found the bleeding Yan Qingqi was the first incident. The shooting was the second. The third incident must not happen.
“A-Yan, I think Xiao Chu is right. I’ll go back to S City with you for your recovery.”
“What about your filming? The drama isn’t finished yet. It wraps up in a week. It would be a shame to stop now.”
Song Tingxue only cared about Yan Qingqi’s safety. She just wanted her to recover soon and had thrown all other matters out the window.
“Mhm, I’ll ask the crew for time off. I’ll resume filming in a few days.”
Jing Michu: “It’s a minor issue. I’ll handle the filming arrangements. Wife, just focus on taking care of my cousin. If you’re with her, she’ll feel secure during her recovery, and she’ll heal faster.”
Evening arrived. Song Tingxue, Yan Qingqi, and Jing Michu ate dinner in the ward.
The dinner was ordered by Jing Michu from a restaurant. A simple porridge and vegetables for the patient, Yan Qingqi. A light meal, chicken and shrimp with exquisite seasonal vegetables, for Movie Queen Song. And for herself, greasy, heavy, spicy hot pot.
Perhaps she was starving, but Jing Michu ate with gusto, slurping the noodles, eating the abalone and the tripe in the hot pot.
Yan Qingqi frowned. “Can you not make my ward smell so strongly?”
“What’s the matter? I can’t even eat my food? You just can’t eat spicy food now and are stuck with plain, semi-liquid food. You’re jealous and envious because I’m eating heartily.”
Song Tingxue couldn’t hold back a smile.
Yan Qingqi gritted her teeth in annoyance. “Rebellious cousin!”
“Alright, alright. You’re injured, so I’ll yield to you. I’ll eat in the next room.” Jing Michu picked up the hot pot and left.
Song Tingxue was slightly worried, seeing her leave. “A-Yan, is Xiao Chu really angry? I’ll call her back.”
Yan Qingqi: “Don’t. She probably wants to have some sweet talk with her An An. Didn’t you see her giggling at her phone screen a while ago? Now that she knows I’m fine, her mind is back on her love life.”
Song Tingxue smiled faintly. “You and Xiao Jing have a really good relationship.”
“Of course we do. We grew up together. I’m two years older than her, and I always had to let her win our fights. Otherwise, if she lost, she would cry and run to my parents to complain. We stopped fighting and arguing only when we got older and had more schoolwork.”
As Yan Qingqi spoke, a fond nostalgia filled her eyes. “My parents were still alive then. Manman was only about two years old, toddling around, putting everything she saw in her mouth.”
“What about your parents now? Do they know you were shot?”
Song Tingxue wanted to ask why they hadn’t come with Jing Michu or called her.
Perhaps A-Yan’s parents were overseas, and because of the time difference, they might call later that night?
Yan Qingqi lowered her eyes, her smile vanishing.
“My parents died in an accident when I was ten. Before that, about a year before my parents died, my uncle fell to his death while rock climbing with friends. After my parents’ accident, my grandmother couldn’t bear the successive shocks and passed away within half a year.”
“Later, my aunt took over the family business and managed everything at home, including taking care of Manman and me. That’s why I’m so close to Xiao Jing. She, Manman, and I essentially grew up together.
“Unfortunately, my aunt passed away from an illness last year. She was never healthy to begin with. She worked herself to the bone for the family. We were all still young then and couldn’t help. By the time I was old enough to gradually take over, my aunt finally had a moment to rest, but her health was already terrible. It’s not an exaggeration to say my aunt burned herself out for the Wen family.”
Yan Qingqi’s voice grew softer and softer, nearly breaking with emotion, her eyes moist.
“I owe Jing Michu so much.
“Sometimes I wonder if the Wen family did something terrible in a past life, which is why my parents, uncle, and aunt all died in this life.”
She had spoken too much at once and stirred up painful memories. Her chest tightened, making it hard to breathe. The wound in her chest ached intensely. She clutched her wound, letting out a painful moan, her face turning ashen.
Song Tingxue quickly pressed the call button for the doctor, helping Yan Qingqi lie down. “A-Yan, you must rest! Don’t talk anymore.”
Jing Michu heard the commotion and rushed in from the next room. “What happened to my sister?”
“Her wound suddenly started hurting. I already called the nurse.”
A doctor came in and examined her. “The patient is very weak after surgery. She shouldn’t talk for long periods or get emotionally agitated. She needs strict bed rest.”
Yan Qingqi was genuinely weak. She lay down, receiving the IV drip, and slowly fell asleep.
“Wife, why don’t you go back to the hotel to rest? You must be tired today too. I’ll take care of my sister here.”
Song Tingxue shook her head. “I’ll stay with A-Yan. Xiao Chu, you go rest. You flew all the way from S City.”
“No need. Staying up all night is nothing to me. Wife, don’t be formal.”
Song Tingxue: “Alright. I’ll go check on Luo Sisi. Gong Yue and the others were seriously injured this time.”
“Okay, wife, go ahead. I’ll watch her here.”
Gong Yue was wrapped in bandages around her abdomen, and her arms and legs were also heavily bandaged.
Seeing Gong Yue trying to force herself to get up, Luo Sisi’s fair, slender hand gently poked the area near her abdominal wound.
Gong Yue instantly winced in pain, her eyebrows twitching. “Are you trying to kill me?! Poking my wound?!”
“The doctor told you to stay put, and you won’t listen! You’re this injured, and where are you trying to go?” Luo Sisi glared at her, forcing her back onto the bed. “Stay still! Yanzi has been here. Sister Yan is awake and fine. A-Li is in the ICU. His life is saved, but he’s still under observation. You can’t go in there anyway.”
Gong Yue sighed. After lying down for a moment, she tried to get up again.
“What are you doing? Why are you so disobedient?”
Gong Yue blushed. “I need to use the restroom.”
Luo Sisi’s anger vanished. She smiled gently. “I’ll go with you.”
Holding the IV pole with one hand and supporting Gong Yue with her shoulder, the two walked toward the restroom.
“Be careful. Slowly. Lean on me.”
Gong Yue turned her head to look at her. Luo Sisi’s profile was delicate. Without the glamour she usually projected, her nose was high, and her eyes were soft, showing no impatience.
Seeing her swollen eyes, Gong Yue guessed she had been crying hysterically while she was unconscious. But after she woke up, Luo Sisi never shed a tear in front of her. She only asked, “Where does it hurt? What do you want to eat? Do you want some water?” And then she told her, “A-Li is out of danger. Miss Yan is out of surgery, but she hasn’t woken up yet.”
When she finally recovered enough to speak, Luo Sisi talked with her, but also cursed the crazy fan who attacked them. “They brought a gun! That wasn’t a fan; that was an assassin!”
She had seen Luo Sisi’s bright, flirty, charming, and spontaneous sides, but this was the first time she had seen her so meticulous, calm, and gentle.
“Sisi, you’re quite gentle sometimes.”
Luo Sisi’s face instantly flushed. She spoke awkwardly. “Me? Gentle? Just hurry up and get well.”
“Okay, I’ll try my best to get better quickly.” Gong Yue smiled. “I don’t want to lean on you. I want to hug you.”
When Song Tingxue walked in, Luo Sisi was feeding Gong Yue porridge, spoonful by spoonful.
“I can do it myself. My arm is fine. I can eat on my own.”
“Why are you being naughty again? I said I’d feed you! Just cooperate with me.”
Gong Yue looked distressed but opened her mouth obediently to be fed.
Song Tingxue stood at the doorway and knocked on the open door. Both looked up. Luo Sisi happily greeted her, “Sister Song!”
Gong Yue asked, “Is Miss Yan alright?”
Song Tingxue was grateful for Gong Yue’s heroic action. If she hadn’t shielded A-Yan from the second bullet and fought desperately with the gunman, A-Yan would have…
Song Tingxue: “Gong Yue, I know no amount of words can express my gratitude, but I really, truly thank you!”
Gong Yue wasn’t sure if Song Tingxue knew Yan Qingqi’s real identity, so she couldn’t blurt out that she and the team were Yan Qingqi’s bodyguards.
“It’s my duty. Miss Jing asked me to look after Miss Yan. I couldn’t let anything happen to her. Miss Yan getting shot and injured is already a failure on our part. I’m ashamed.”
“No, no. A-Yan and I are both very grateful to you. Truly, extremely grateful.”
Luo Sisi: “Alright, Sister Song. It’s best that everyone is safe. Once A-Li wakes up, everything will be completely resolved.”
When Song Tingxue returned to the ward, Yan Qingqi was lying on the bed, asleep. Jing Michu was quietly answering a phone call nearby. “Mr. Pang, I’m sorry. My apologies… Something urgent came up in the family. I’m not even in S City right now. I promise, I will be there in a few days. I promise.”
Song Tingxue saw that she looked very busy. After the call, she was typing quickly on her phone, presumably replying to messages.
“Xiao Chu, I’ll watch A-Yan here. You go back to the hotel to rest. We don’t both need to stay.”
Jing Michu considered it. “Alright, wife. I’ll go back to the hotel and come back first thing in the morning. I’ll just crash at a hotel near the hospital tonight. Call me immediately if anything happens.”
Song Tingxue nodded. “I know.”
At 10 p.m., the hospital quieted down, and the lights in the hallways were dimmed. Two bodyguards stood guard outside the ward.
Inside the room, Yan Qingqi was sleeping peacefully. Her breathing was even and shallow. Her long eyelashes fluttered slightly with each breath, her nostrils barely moving. Her sleeping face was gentle and serene, her jade-like skin faintly gleaming under the light.
Song Tingxue stared silently at her sleeping face, her lips unconsciously curving upward, until a sudden phone vibration shattered the stillness of the ward.
It was a voice call from Xiaole on a messaging app.
Song Tingxue answered, turning away and lowering her voice. “What is it, Xiaole?”
Xiaole: “Sister Song, are you still at the hospital?”
“Yes, I’m still at the hospital.”
“Is Sister Yan doing better?” Xiaole waited until Yan Qingqi was out of surgery before leaving.
“She’s better. She even ate something tonight.”
Xiaole was happy for Sister Song. “I knew Sister Yan would be fine.” She paused, testing the waters. “Sister Song, there’s something… Someone posted photos from today’s incident at Linxian Peak online. I’ll send them to you. Take a look when you have a chance?”
“Okay, I’ll take a look.” Song Tingxue frowned, hung up, and immediately received the photos and a forwarded blog post from Xiaole.
The blog post didn’t show photos of the assailants with guns or daggers, nor the blood on the ground. There were only pictures of the crowded scene, and Song Tingxue in her costume smiling and waving at the fans—these photos were normal.
The last photo showed her holding the unconscious and shot Yan Qingqi. Due to the angle, only Song Tingxue’s back was visible, but A-Yan’s face was partially exposed, eyes closed, hair messy, one arm hanging limp.
Song Tingxue scanned the blog post. It had over 100,000 views and a few thousand comments—not excessively viral.
The comments below were still:
“She’s here! She’s here! Goddess Song is so beautiful!”
“Goddess Song has such great poise! My Goddess Song is the pinnacle of costume drama goddesses!”
“Who is she hugging? What happened to that person?”
“I was there. There was a disturbance yesterday. Someone was stabbed. The injured person must be a staff member or her assistant.”
“Goddess Song must be checking on her assistant’s injuries.”
“More than that. Someone said they heard a gunshot yesterday.”
“Holy cow, seriously?! A gun??!!”
“No way. Who would have a grudge against Goddess Song? That can’t be right.”
Yan Qingqi slept until past 2 a.m. She woke up and immediately saw Song Tingxue sitting in the chair by the bed, looking extremely tired, her arms crossed, her head nodding like a chicken pecking rice.
The cool, graceful Ice Mountain Goddess was losing her composure for the first time.
Yan Qingqi watched, her heart softening with affection. This side of Songsong was so gentle and adorable.
“Songsong, Songsong.” Yan Qingqi called out softly twice. Under the blanket, a hand slowly reached out, gently grasping Songsong’s hand.
Song Tingxue was startled awake. Seeing Yan Qingqi awake, Song Tingxue was surprised again, regretting that she had fallen asleep.
“A-Yan, what’s wrong? Are you uncomfortable anywhere?”
“No, I’m fine,” Yan Qingqi smiled. “You should sleep too. We’re both thin. Come up and sleep here.”
Yan Qingqi struggled to move herself sideways, trying to make room for Song Tingxue.
“No, don’t move. Be careful not to strain your wound.” Song Tingxue stopped her.
“It’s alright. I know my limit. Come up.”
Song Tingxue glanced around, saw the accompanying patient bed, walked over, opened it, and set it up. “I’ll sleep here.”
Seeing she had a bed, Yan Qingqi was finally relieved. “You sleep. Don’t worry about me. I’m fine. My chest doesn’t hurt as much anymore. I’m comfortable.”
Song Tingxue was reassured that her chest pain had lessened. She lay down on the accompanying bed fully clothed, turning to face Yan Qingqi.
“Sleep, wife.”
“Mhm. Call me if anything happens. Don’t be afraid to wake me.”
“I know. I’ll call my wife if something happens.”
Song Tingxue smiled slightly and slowly drifted off to sleep.
The moment the hallway lights came on in the morning, Song Tingxue woke up and rushed to check on A-Yan. Seeing her still sleeping soundly, her features relaxed, Song Tingxue felt relieved and quietly folded up the accompanying bed.
Soon after, more people arrived at the hospital, moving around, and the surroundings gradually became noisy.
Yan Qingqi opened her eyes and woke up. Song Tingxue asked with a smile, “You’re awake. Did you sleep well?”
“Yes, very well. I slept right through the night.”
Song Tingxue reached out and touched her face, then ran her hand along her slightly thin cheek up to her forehead. Her forehead was cool, not feverish. Song Tingxue sighed in relief again.
Yan Qingqi squeezed Songsong’s hand. “Wife, you’ve worked hard.”
Song Tingxue shook her head. “I’m your wife. Just recover quickly and suffer less pain. That’s all that matters.”
“Don’t worry. I’ll be fine in a few days.” Yan Qingqi smiled. “Once we return to S City, I’ll take you home, to the Wen family home. You’ll be the Wen family Madam.”
The Wen family Madam?
A-Yan said her name was Wen Shuyan. She was A-Yan’s wife, so naturally, she would be the Wen family Madam.
Song Tingxue gently curved her lips. “Good. As long as you recover, anywhere is fine.”
Yan Qingqi smiled even more brightly. “We promised. We’ll have our wedding before the end of the year.”
“Yes, we will.”
“And a honeymoon. To Elf Island.”
“Yes, whatever you say. A honeymoon trip to Elf Island.” Song Tingxue was happy to see her so cheerful. “Is there anything else you want to do?”
“Just those for now. I’ll tell you when I think of something else.”
Song Tingxue adjusted the bed, allowing A-Yan to sit up more comfortably.
Yan Qingqi blinked, seeing her lips so close—full and soft, alluring even without lipstick.
Yan Qingqi felt a stirring in her heart and called out like a kitten. “Songsong.”
“What is it?”
“I want a kiss.” As if afraid Songsong would refuse. “I need a kiss to gain strength and recover faster.”
Song Tingxue chuckled softly, looking down and smiling. The smile was both gentle and shy, her eyes shining with light.
Yan Qingqi stared blankly, like a confused penguin standing in the snow. Song Tingxue leaned in. A shallow flush rose on her skin, fairer than snow. She closed her eyes and kissed the silly Alpha.
A little later, the doctor came for rounds, and Jing Michu arrived with a large stack of breakfast.
Hearing that Yan Qingqi’s condition was stable and she could be transferred, Jing Michu excitedly rubbed her hands together. She immediately pulled out her phone. “An An, Cousin is transferring hospitals today. We should arrive at Ningkang Hospital around noon. See you at the hospital later.”
After the call, Jing Michu added, “Wife, I’ve already notified the crew about the filming. Just focus on taking care of my cousin for now. You can return to filming in a few days when she’s feeling better.”
Song Tingxue knew she wouldn’t be in the right state of mind to focus on acting right now. She could only feel relieved enough to film once A-Yan was fully recovered and mobile.
“Thank you, Xiao Chu.”
“You’re welcome, wife. When you move back to the Wen family home, please don’t be so formal with me.”
The jet roared as it ascended, climbing higher, flying from H City to S City.
Inside the private jet, Song Tingxue watched the leisurely drinking Jing Michu, who looked every bit the sophisticated business elite. She couldn’t help but ask, “Xiao Chu, is this private jet yours?”
Jing Michu: “No. It belongs to the person sleeping there.”
A-Yan’s?!!
Song Tingxue was thoroughly shocked. Her expression changed dramatically. To be able to afford and operate a private jet, A-Yan’s family must be incredibly rich.
“A-Yan, is she, is she very rich?”
“Absolutely. She’s the Wen family’s eldest daughter and heir. Very rich.” Jing Michu saw Song Tingxue’s shocked face and smiled. “We should thank you, wife, for being willing to take care of my sister when she was down on her luck and confused.”
Song Tingxue: “…”
