Acting as the Movie Queen Love Rival’s Golden Finger GL - Chapter 10
Many years later, whenever Ming Xu thought back to what happened that day, she would accuse Song Jianzhi of using a honey trap to seduce her into terminating her contract and switching companies. Song Jianzhi would then loudly protest that Ming Xu was acting spoiled after getting the advantage. Not only had she gotten the beauty from the honey trap, she had also gotten a good script—what else was there to be dissatisfied about?
Ming Xu would pretend to ponder deeply, then laugh until tears came out under Song Jianzhi’s furious tickle attack, begging for mercy again and again, saying she wouldn’t dare be dissatisfied, wouldn’t dare, wouldn’t dare.
That was all in the future.
Right now, the two of them sat side by side in the back seat. In the driver’s seat was Li Man, who had been punished by being made to stand outside the car for ages. The moment she got in, she was startled by the atmosphere.
Had the air inside the car solidified?
She remembered that when Sister Ming Xu had just opened the car door and gotten out, Miss Song had turned her head away, her back facing Sister Ming Xu. It was Sister Ming Xu who had asked her:
“Should I send you home?”
Only then had Miss Song reluctantly given up the driver’s seat and gone to sit in the back.
Thinking carefully about the change from before to after, Li Man had already filled in an entire drama in her mind.
“Your address,” Ming Xu asked. Li Man, who was very familiar with her, immediately heard the subtle difference in her tone. Sister Ming Xu was in a good mood?
Li Man sat upright and stared straight ahead. She pricked up her ears and waited for a while before Song Jianzhi finally gave an address.
“Go to Ganlin Garden.” Ganlin Garden was a high-end apartment complex in the city center. Saying every inch of land there was worth gold was no exaggeration.
But the moment Ming Xu heard it, she knew it was not the Song residence. She asked, “You moved out?”
“I live at both places.” Song Jianzhi’s voice was muffled. Some time ago, she had spent a few days staying at Ganlin Garden. Either place was fine today, but Ganlin Garden was closer, so she could get out of the car sooner.
Ming Xu said nothing more. Sensibly, Li Man pulled up the navigation and headed toward Ganlin Garden.
Through the rearview mirror, Li Man saw that Miss Song kept looking out the window and never turned back.
After a 419—a one-night stand—rekindling fate should be all tangled and lingering. Even if love rivals met, shouldn’t their eyes turn especially red with anger?
What was with this atmosphere that felt like a young couple in the middle of a cold war?
No matter how hard Li Man racked her brain, she could not understand this complicated relationship. The car stopped in front of Ganlin Garden. This complex had very high privacy, and unregistered vehicles could not enter, so Li Man parked the car to one side and said, “Miss Song, we’re here.”
“Thank you for the trouble,” Song Jianzhi replied. She reached out to open the car door, but Ming Xu leaned over and pressed down on her hand, holding it together with the door handle.
Li Man: !!!
She was so excited that she nearly turned her head around to focus on the live scene, only to see Ming Xu pinning Song Jianzhi down with one hand, not letting her get out of the car. With the other, she cleanly pulled down the divider between the front and back seats.
Li Man stared wide-eyed at the divider.
Song Jianzhi was not very happy either. Looking at the woman pressing in extremely close above her, she could almost smell the faint perfume on Ming Xu’s body—cool, uninhibited, clear, and serene.
It was hard to tell whether the blush on Song Jianzhi’s face was from embarrassment or annoyance. She said in a low voice, “You’re still teasing me.”
“Are you angry?”
When Ming Xu spoke, her faint breath scattered over Song Jianzhi’s face. Light, tingling, yet distinct. Song Jianzhi moved her lips and said, “Even if I’m angry, what can I do to you?”
She still had to treat her like a client and serve her carefully.
Ming Xu said simply, “If you’re angry, I apologize.”
As she spoke, she rose and pulled back a little.
Her tone was too serious. Song Jianzhi looked over half-believingly. Ming Xu’s expression was calm, her lips slightly pressed together, and her eyes seemed to have lost their brightness too, like a gentle lake.
Being beautiful really was an advantage. When beautiful people looked sad, others would soften.
Song Jianzhi inwardly cursed herself for being a sucker for pretty faces, but her mouth had already started comforting the other woman of its own accord. “Actually, I’m not angry…”
Song Jianzhi: You face-obsessed fool, shut up!
She hurriedly added, “But don’t do this again. We’re in a boss-and-employee relationship. We can’t act like this.”
Ming Xu looked at her and repeated lightly, “Boss and employee?”
Song Jianzhi nodded solemnly and added in her heart: I’m the employee. You’re the boss.
Ming Xu smiled. “Then was what happened before a casting-couch arrangement?”
Song Jianzhi looked at her as if she had seen a ghost.
Before she could speak, Ming Xu leaned closer, her breath intimate. Her right hand pressed down on Song Jianzhi’s hand resting on the seat, while her other arm slipped around Song Jianzhi’s waist. Her fingers gently drew circles at Song Jianzhi’s waist.
Numb.
Ticklish.
The sensation spread from one point to her limbs and bones, like fine electric currents suddenly racing through her body, straight to the ends of her nerves. Song Jianzhi abruptly lifted her head and dodged backward, exposing her long, fair swan neck.
A fatal place.
Ming Xu accepted the prey’s invitation. Holding Song Jianzhi’s hand, she instead stroked the side of Song Jianzhi’s neck, her body moving along with hers, as if the two of them had always been connected and were being pulled into motion together.
She did not give an inch. Taking advantage step by step, she pressed closer to Song Jianzhi’s lips. Between the two equally soft, bright red pairs of lips, there remained only a finger’s width of distance. If either of them moved a little more while speaking, they would touch.
“Does Director Song want to casting-couch me?” Ming Xu’s voice was very low, carrying the lingering tenderness of lovers whispering their feelings.
As she moved, the distance between their red lips shrank until only a sliver remained, so faint it was almost there and almost not.
Song Jianzhi could no longer tell whether they had touched or not.
The restraint at her waist, the gaze that would entangle with hers the moment she lifted her eyes, the ambiguous stroking at her neck…
Right. This hand seemed to be the same one that, back in the parking garage when the conversation had reached its key point, Ming Xu had suddenly brought to her lips, lightly bitten, and slowly licked.
The sensation of teeth had been dull, but the tongue had been soft.
Soft and wet.
And the way she had licked was too—
In any case, Song Jianzhi had stopped paying attention to her after that.
I treated you as my client and discussed serious business with you, yet you actually wanted to bite me!
Now the client was directly refusing to discuss serious business with her. Her head was probably filled with nothing but dirty thoughts. Song Jianzhi felt so powerless.
Song Jianzhi’s thoughts drifted from the hand to the mission, then finally, with great difficulty, drifted back to the scene before her. She carefully bit her lower lip, working hard to maintain professional integrity in such an ambiguous situation as she said seriously:
“Miss Ming, I invited you to join Xinghan because I appreciate your personal ability. It’s not because I want you as a person. You have to distinguish between the two.”
As she spoke, the mingling of their warm breaths became even more obvious, making Song Jianzhi’s heart tremble.
“You don’t want me as a person, Director Song?”
Ming Xu immediately followed up with the question, as if completely unaware of how blunt her words were. She even raised her beautifully drawn, sharp brows, entirely at ease.
“H-how should I put it…” Song Jianzhi struggled at the edge of reason. “This isn’t a question of whether I like you or not…”
Song Jianzhi looked at her pitifully. Perhaps it was Ming Xu’s imagination, but she felt those eyes were a little more watery than before.
At this moment, compared with bright, glowing cat eyes, they looked more like damp deer eyes.
As if she was about to cry from anxiety.
Ming Xu was amused by her own thought. Fine. There would be plenty of time.
Ming Xu heard herself say, “Mm, I understand.”
Then she lowered her eyes. With that movement, she swallowed up the final tiny distance between them and gently pressed a kiss to the corner of Song Jianzhi’s lips, intimate and close. It lingered for only one second, perhaps two, before she rose and moved away.
The two of them returned to sitting side by side as before.
Ming Xu’s attitude was natural, and not a trace of what she had just done could be seen. Even her clothes did not have a single crease. Her face was calm, and only the softness between her brows and eyes revealed the slightest hint of her mood.
“Hurry and get out of the car.”
Song Jianzhi: ?? Was what just happened my imagination? How are you so good at switching on and off at will?
Even after she got out of the car and walked back, Song Jianzhi was still a little dazed.
Uncertainly, she asked, “System? Was I kissed by Sister Ming Xu just now?”
The system was still the same system and replied in its cordial voice, “Yes.”
“Oh.” Song Jianzhi walked two more steps, then stopped and asked, “She just let me go like that?”
The system asked back, “What else?”
Song Jianzhi did not continue.
As she walked through the gentle early-summer breeze, she secretly stuck out the tip of her tongue and tested the corner of her lips.
Author’s Note:
For Sister Ming Xu’s perfume scent, I wrote it while thinking of L’Eau de Serge Lutens.
Song Jianzhi says: Sister Ming Xu actually wanted to bite me!
Today, I revised some of the earlier text. It doesn’t affect the plot. The main changes were in Chapters Four, Five, and Seven. You can go back and dig for sugar.
For the rest, I only changed the content summaries. My writing isn’t worthy of the word “silly,” wuwuwu. I am reflecting.
Today’s extra update was to apologize for revising the text. I beg all esteemed readers not to unfavorite.
Also, red packets will drop in the comments section of this chapter. You can praise the author, because the better the author’s mood, the sweeter the content will be. [Hinting clearly]
