Acting as the Movie Queen Love Rival’s Golden Finger GL - Chapter 20
Even when He Xilan was sitting in the restaurant private room waiting for Wei Zhixuan, she still did not understand how all of this had happened.
That afternoon, she had originally been filming. It was an insanely silly campus romance drama, but the pay was high. She had been acting opposite a young fresh meat as a female classmate whose heart went thump-thump like a startled deer, and she had just gotten into character when a woman claiming to be President Wei’s chief assistant came over.
The moment she heard that surname and thought of that idiot Wei Xiao, the little deer in her heart went splat and crashed dead on the spot.
But unexpectedly, what the chief assistant said was that Wei Zhixuan had invited her to dine.
Wei Zhixuan?
That older sister who pressed Wei Xiao to the ground and rubbed his face into it?
He Xilan frowned and discovered that this matter was not simple.
The director hurriedly let her go. On the way here, she had been thinking about why Wei Zhixuan was looking for her. Was it because Wei Zhixuan had taken a liking to her identity and wanted her to help take Wei Xiao out?
That shouldn’t be necessary, right? If Wei Zhixuan wanted to deal with Wei Xiao, wasn’t it just a matter of lifting her hand? Was there any need to be this roundabout? It wasn’t as if Wei Xiao had the ability to resist.
But if Wei Xiao really went completely cold, where would she find another fool with too much money like him…
The waiter gently pushed open the door. He Xilan came back to herself, turned slightly toward the door, and put on a proper smile.
From outside the door walked in… a beauty.
Her peach-blossom eyes were seductive, her red lips full. The places that should curve curved, and the places that should perk up perked up. Her tailored formal suit cinched out a slim waist. Other people walked like they were walking, but she walked like a willow branch.
Restless.
He Xilan’s movement as she stood paused slightly, then returned to normal. Her smile carried a little restraint. “Are you President Wei? Hello, President Wei. I’m He Xilan.”
Wei Zhixuan naturally took off her small black suit jacket and sat down. Her white shirt was clean and fitted closely to her skin, making the raised curves fully visible. She casually undid the top button and let out a soft laugh. “Sit.”
He Xilan did not dare look too much and lowered her head as she sat.
The waiter began serving the dishes.
Wei Zhixuan pressed a napkin against her lips, and when she set it down, there was clearly a beauty’s lip print on it, the mouth slightly parted, the edges softly blurred, the color vivid and burning.
To He Xilan’s surprise, Wei Zhixuan did not say much throughout the entire meal. The dining table was extremely quiet.
After spending so long in the industry, He Xilan had grown used to the so-called habit that “the dinner table isn’t for eating.” She was somewhat unaccustomed to this silence.
But when she secretly looked over, Wei Zhixuan’s brows and eyes carried pleasure. She looked quite at ease. He Xilan thought for a moment and did not speak.
For a while, only the sounds of the waiter serving dishes and the light, scattered clinks of bowls and chopsticks could be heard.
Wei Zhixuan set down her chopsticks and wiped her lips. He Xilan swiftly followed by “finishing her meal” as well.
“Very sensible,” Wei Zhixuan praised. She tilted her head. “Prettier in person than in photos.”
Under the light, Wei Zhixuan’s eyes were watery and tender, full of feeling.
Vixen!
He Xilan cursed inwardly. Facing such a deliciously attractive mature woman, her heart uselessly jumped a few extra times.
Out of habit, she acted the part of a shy little white flower and smiled with her lips pressed together. “Thank you, President Wei.”
Wei Zhixuan looked at her for a while, then parted her lips and asked, “Are you free tonight?”
He Xilan sat upright, thinking, The main course has finally arrived.
She had thought it through very clearly just now. When it was time to be reckless in life, one should be reckless. Since Wei Zhixuan had come to her for something, she couldn’t avoid it anyway.
If she handled the matter to Wei Zhixuan’s satisfaction, just a little bit slipping through the fingers of this real President Wei would be enough for her to live very happily. Wasn’t that better than coaxing Wei Xiao? Coaxing that idiot every day cost so much emotional damage compensation that most of the benefit was canceled out.
No matter how she calculated it, she would not lose.
He Xilan’s heart was steady as could be, and she said gently, “I am.”
Wei Zhixuan nodded. “Then let’s go.”
Wei Zhixuan stood and walked out first. He Xilan hurriedly grabbed her bag and followed. Looking at the graceful figure in front of her, she suppressed the urge to ask about their destination.
Only when Wei Zhixuan’s Maybach drove farther and farther toward the outskirts did He Xilan look at the increasingly sparse lights outside the window, her tone a little tight. “President Wei, where… are we going?”
Wei Zhixuan had been looking at documents since getting into the car. Hearing her, she raised her head. The back seat’s overhead light was not on, and the car was dim. Through the light outside the window, He Xilan vaguely saw the blurry face of a beauty.
A beauty like a flower beyond the clouds.
Wei Zhixuan let out a murmured “Mm?” Then she said in a low voice, “Taking you home.”
Her voice was sticky and winding, the ending lifting upward.
Half of He Xilan’s body went numb.
A lyric suddenly drifted through her mind: Drive, drive toward the city’s edge.
Ming Xu and Song Jianzhi were also having dinner outside tonight, mainly to get familiar with Ming Xu’s new team.
The location was set at Sikou. Ming Xu also called Li Man over. Li Man had always been an assistant hired by Ming Xu herself and was not restricted by the company, so she would follow her to Xinghan.
Ye Ziqing brought six or seven people with her. With more people, it was lively. Song Jianzhi pretended not to see their curious expressions when they sized up her and Ming Xu. She chatted with Ye Ziqing about quite a few amusing things involving Song Jianyin, as well as some company matters.
Although Ming Xu was somewhat detached, she would not deliberately put on a cold face in front of everyone. After they got to know each other, the atmosphere was still fairly good.
After the dinner ended, Song Jianzhi planned to send Ming Xu back as usual, but unexpectedly, Ming Xu refused her. “Let Sikou send me.”
Song Jianzhi said, “Eh?”
This was the first time she had been refused.
Ming Xu looked at her. “These next few days, I need to properly prepare for the audition.”
“And then?” What did that have to do with sending her home?
Ming Xu moved a little closer. Behind her were subordinates still laughing and joking. Li Man had already blended in with them, and a group of people were teasing the makeup artist.
Their voices were too loud, and Song Jianzhi almost did not hear Ming Xu’s light, drifting sentence.
“It’s very late. I’m afraid I won’t be able to stop myself from keeping you.”
After Ming Xu finished speaking, she straightened up. She was still as cool and distant as ever, with a hint of leisure, as if she were certain that as long as she made a move, Song Jianzhi definitely would not be able to escape.
Over there, Ye Ziqing happened to call Song Jianzhi. “Jianzhi ah—hm? You didn’t drink much. Why is your face so red?”
Song Jianzhi flew into embarrassed anger. No longer caring about Ming Xu, she turned her head and walked away.
Ming Xu watched her departing figure from behind, her eyes full of laughter.
In a villa on the other side of the city, He Xilan repeated the afternoon’s emotional journey—
Even when she controlled her character and watched Wei Zhixuan once again get beaten until she had no power to fight back, she still did not understand how all of this had happened.
Wei Zhixuan, this vixen, had actually brought her home to do something only straight men would do??
Sitting side by side and playing games.
Was this something a CEO should be doing when facing such a deliciously beautiful female star???
But this time, her reason was nearly gone. She had been made so angry by how bad Wei Zhixuan was at the game that her heart was on fire.
At first, Wei Zhixuan had said this: “I saw you endorsed Jianyi Company and even livestreamed playing up to Rank Thirteen?”
He Xilan’s eyelid twitched. Feeling that something was wrong, she smiled and said, “That’s true, but that was a promotional event…”
“You were the one playing, right?” Wei Zhixuan raised a brow, refusing to give an inch.
He Xilan hesitated, then nodded.
“That’s all I need.” Wei Zhixuan revealed a smile full of charm and handed her a slip of paper. “Come carry me in 2v2. I must reach Rank Four today!”
With that posture, it looked as if what she was handing over was a presidential suite room card.
He Xilan took it and looked.
It was a game account and password.
He Xilan: …Indifferent.
Fine.
Playing games, then. It wasn’t like she had never played before.
He Xilan obediently logged in. On the two screens, two glittering golden characters formed a team and headed straight for the arena.
But she had to say, when she heard Wei Zhixuan say she wanted to reach Rank Four, she had thought Wei Zhixuan was talking dirty.
This game had a total of thirteen ranks. A normal person could casually play and still reach Rank Ten. Only high-rank matches tested skill.
Wei Zhixuan’s account was decked out in the strongest gear in the game. Forget rolling her face over the keyboard. If she scattered a handful of rice over the keyboard, even a chicken could get her to Rank Four.
The first match.
“Eh? Why can’t I move?”
“President Wei, you’re crowd-controlled. You need to break control.” He Xilan swept her gaze across the field, quickly crowd-controlled the opponent in front of her, then turned around and knocked back the melee fighter attacking Wei Zhixuan. Taking credit, she said, “I already knocked them away. President Wei, hurry and attack them.”
The second match.
“Lanlan, save me!”
A vein jumped on He Xilan’s forehead. She quickly dealt with the enemy in front of her. “I’m coming. Use a damage reduction skill and hold on first.”
“Okay!” Wei Zhixuan answered crisply, with a bit of the decisiveness she showed as a CEO. He Xilan was just feeling gratified when she heard Wei Zhixuan mutter in confusion, “Eh? Why isn’t my damage reduction skill on my keybinds…”
He Xilan: …
The third match.
Wei Zhixuan was already very convinced by He Xilan’s ability to 1v1.7. As soon as they entered, she started cheering He Xilan on. “Lanlan, jiayou! Beat them up!”
He Xilan: “…Mm.”
The opponents in this match were fiercer. One look and it was clear they were skilled players on smurf accounts, happily playing around in a low-rank pond. They quickly discovered that Wei Zhixuan was the breakthrough point and launched a barrage of moves at her. While using skills to protect her teammate, He Xilan shouted at Wei Zhixuan, “Hurry and press your skills!”
He Xilan’s skills were quickly used up, and she was powerless. The other side endured her damage and insisted on killing Wei Zhixuan first.
Wei Zhixuan slapped the keyboard randomly and successfully achieved the accomplishment of being chain-controlled to death by the other side.
“They’re so strong,” Wei Zhixuan sighed faintly.
“…” He Xilan revealed an icy smile. “President Wei, let’s duel.”
“Let me see your skills.”
Wei Zhixuan knew that she had probably been so bad that she had angered the other woman. Rarely, she felt a little guilty. After dawdling for a bit, she said, “All right.”
The two of them controlled their characters and went to an open area outside. A large flag dropped between them, and the duel began.
Wei Zhixuan worked hard to control her character and fight back, but she was still beaten until she could not take care of herself.
Beside her ear was He Xilan’s simple, decisive voice, carrying indifference.
“Mm. Continue.”
As He Xilan spoke, she knocked Wei Zhixuan back, stunning her until she could not move.
“Not bad. You at least know to use burst.”
He Xilan circled behind her. Wei Zhixuan could not adjust her facing properly and could not use her skills. Her burst was the same as not having used it at all, and her character spun around wildly.
“Why aren’t you fighting back?”
At the final ten percent of Wei Zhixuan’s health bar, He Xilan stopped.
Wei Zhixuan bit her lip and threw out a mess of skills. He Xilan stood in place without moving until her own health bar was even with Wei Zhixuan’s.
He Xilan’s character suddenly moved.
The mechanical keyboard under her hands let out crisp, dense sounds, clearing out the last of Wei Zhixuan’s health bar completely!
He Xilan turned her head and looked at Wei Zhixuan, who was sitting shoulder to shoulder with her on the left, revealing her usual gentle smile.
“I never used damage reduction, burst, or my ultimate.”
Wei Zhixuan stared for a while at the character sitting in meditation on the computer screen to recover health. Then she also turned her head to look at He Xilan. Brushing her hair back, she smiled and said:
“Seeing how amazing you are puts me at ease. No breaking up until Rank Thirteen.”
He Xilan: …
Fuck.
This was revenge, right! It absolutely was!
Early the next morning, when the sky was just beginning to brighten, He Xilan’s manager Ji Yun drove over to pick her up.
Wei Zhixuan sent He Xilan to the door, leaning against it with a smile. “Leaving already? I really can’t bear to part with you, Lanlan.”
The skin beneath He Xilan’s eyes was dark, and her mind was muddled. She barely maintained a smile. “President Wei, I’m leaving.”
Ji Yun drove the car out of the villa area, wanting to speak but stopping herself. “Did President Wei and you… do it all night? Why don’t you get some sleep first?”
She looked way too miserable, as if her entire body had been hollowed out.
He Xilan nearly rolled her eyes to the sky and said angrily, “Don’t overthink it! Nothing happened between us!”
Playing 1v3 arena all night! The only thing that happened was a heart that wanted to kill her teammate!
After He Xilan finished speaking, she remembered that she had not looked at her phone all night.
She opened her bag and took out her phone. A folded napkin pressed closely against the phone drifted down onto the car seat.
He Xilan picked it up and unfolded it.
It was that lip print, carrying Wei Zhixuan’s faint fragrance.
Tomato red, lips slightly parted, a beauty’s scent.
Author’s Note:
The game is based on JX3.
Originally, I wanted to write about playing a console game online together, but the author really hasn’t played online with friends. I have the richest experience getting beaten up in JX3, so writing what I’m familiar with is more vivid.
The part where He Xilan beats Wei Zhixuan is based on the author’s personal experience of being so bad at the game that my in-game partner beat me up…
Women are all like this. Before entering the arena: It’s okay if you’re bad, I won’t dislike you.
After two matches: Come duel.
We only played two arena matches, and my in-game partner beat me three times.
I cried so loudly.
Thank you, bosses! Sending the bosses one Sister Wei’s lip print x1!
