After Desperately Pretending To Be An Omega In Front Of My Girlfriend - Chapter 1
In the dimly lit room, muffled, restrained panting could faintly be heard—enough to make anyone listening blush and feel their heart race.
On the pristine white bed, Qi Yu sat with her back pressed against the headboard, both hands clutching the sheets tightly at her sides until her fingertips turned white. She struggled to suppress her increasingly ragged breathing, while the pounding of her heart inside her chest seemed to mock her futile resistance and helplessness.
She stared fixedly at the woman half-kneeling before her, secretly digging her nails into her own fingers in an attempt to stay clearheaded.
Bright moonlight spilled through the narrow gap in the half-drawn curtains, coating the woman’s long, smooth black hair in a layer of silver.
The woman let out a soft gasp. Her slender fingers casually swept aside the hair hanging over her chest, revealing a large expanse of smooth, pale skin. Then she braced both hands against the bed and slowly leaned closer to Qi Yu.
Qi Yu stared at the beautiful face now inches from her own. The scent of hibiscus at the tip of her nose grew richer and richer, and she could not stop her throat from bobbing quietly.
She wanted to escape, only to discover in despair that she was like prey whose senses had been numbed by an intoxicating incense, her entire body unable to move.
The woman noticed her reaction, and the corners of her lips curved into a seductive smile. She reached out and gently stroked Qi Yu’s burning cheek.
The touch of those cool fingers sent a fine layer of goosebumps racing across Qi Yu’s back. Her already hazy gaze cleared slightly, and she struggled to speak.
“Gu—Gu Qian, calm down. I’m an Omega!”
The slender fingertips slowly slid down the side of her face.
Gu Qian chuckled. “So what if you’re an Omega? Who says an Omega can’t be with another Omega?”
Qi Yu shuddered all over and abruptly grabbed Gu Qian’s fingers. She swallowed, then heard her own hoarse voice.
“I-I’m sorry. I like Alphas. I can’t accept being with an Omega!”
Gu Qian’s body stiffened.
The faint amusement in her eyes disappeared, and her dark, misty pupils became like a bottomless pool of ink, threatening to swallow a person whole. After a brief silence, she raised a confident, bewitching smile once more and brought her face even closer.
Their noses were almost touching. With every breath, the scents of hibiscus and mint intertwined.
“Whether you’re an Alpha, an Omega, or a Beta, Qi Yu, you can only ever belong to me.”
As Gu Qian spoke, Qi Yu trembled from head to toe, feeling the woman’s scorching breath wash over her face. She watched those thick eyelashes draw closer and closer until she finally could not hold back anymore.
“Let go of me—help!”
She shot upright in bed.
There was no dim room in sight, no Gu Qian, and no scent of hibiscus in the air.
It had only been a dream.
Qi Yu let out a long, deep breath.
Her clothes were soaked in sweat and clung uncomfortably to her back, so she climbed out of bed and went into the bathroom to shower.
It was not until she had finished drying her hair that Qi Yu fully recovered. But the moment she remembered the determined, possessive look in Gu Qian’s eyes in the dream, her scalp tingled all over again.
Standing before the mirror, Qi Yu carefully studied her bare face.
Her long brows had a clean, sharp curve. Beneath them was a pair of clear, slightly narrow eyes, followed by a high nose bridge and thin lips pressed tightly together.
Without question, it was a beautiful face—one that young Omegas often described as both cool and irresistibly Alpha-like.
Qi Yu took out her makeup products and began applying them to her face. A while later, she looked with satisfaction at the noticeably softer, more alluring face reflected in the mirror.
Now she looked much more suited to her identity as an “Omega”!
Qi Yu was an Alpha, but for the time being, she was the only person who knew that secret.
To escape marrying Gu Qian, who had bullied her ever since they were children, Qi Yu had secretly taken an expensive Omega-disguising drug shortly after she presented during her freshman year of university.
After presenting, she had not dared move into the Omega dormitory. Instead, she rented a place by herself near the university. Somehow, she had managed to deceive everyone for three whole years.
Three years ago, Mother Qi had been extremely surprised to learn that her precious daughter had presented as a delicate Omega.
Out of curiosity, she had once taken Qi Yu to the hospital to predict her future secondary gender. At the time, the doctor had confidently assured her that Qi Yu would become an Alpha.
When Gu Qian came of age, she presented as an Omega, exactly as everyone had expected. Yet three years later, Qi Yu shocked them all by presenting as an Omega too.
Both mothers were dumbfounded. Their dream of joining the two families through marriage was shattered.
Qi Yu could still remember the dark look on Gu Qian’s face when she heard the news. Even now, the memory made her shudder.
Whenever she imagined being tied for life to the childhood friend who had always treated tormenting her as a source of amusement, Qi Yu felt that her future was utterly bleak.
Besides, she knew that Gu Qian had an unattainable first love buried in her heart.
Qi Yu had no desire to become anyone’s substitute.
Just then, her Alpha best friend, Lin Tong, called and urged her to hurry out because the audition was about to begin.
Qi Yu changed into a pale yellow short dress and used a flat iron to straighten the slightly curled ends of her hair. Her whole appearance radiated youthful energy.
She faced the mirror and put on a delicate, bashful expression.
What an adorable, pure little Omega everyone would love!
Outside the audition classroom, acting students had formed a line that stretched all the way to the end of the hallway. Every face was filled with nervousness and anticipation.
“Number twenty-eight, Qi Yu.”
Inside the enormous classroom, a dense crowd of people sat below the stage. At the center was Director Wang Du, who had just won Best Director at the Starlight Awards.
Director Wang looked up at Qi Yu and said in a deep voice, “Perform the scene where the female lead arrives at the police station for the first time.”
Qi Yu nodded and took a deep breath.
In the next second, her calm gaze became frightened and helpless.
She bit her lower lip until it turned white, her eyes darting uncertainly around the room as she carefully surveyed her surroundings.
Suddenly, as though someone had startled her, her slender body jolted like a frightened rabbit. Her jaw trembled faintly as she whispered, “Th-There was a heavy rain that day. It had just stopped. I-I wanted to go outside to take out the trash, and then I saw…”
She paused and closed her eyes.
Her nostrils flared slightly. After a long moment, she opened them again.
By then, her eyes had already turned red.
In a trembling voice, she said, “I saw…that body.”
“That’s enough. Stop there.”
Director Wang gestured for Qi Yu to stop. It was impossible to tell from his expression whether he was satisfied.
Then he continued, “Now perform the scene where the second female lead accuses the female lead of being the murderer.”
The corner of Qi Yu’s lips lifted into a mocking smile.
She said softly, “So you stayed beside me all this time only because I was your ‘suspect.’ Is that it?”
The moment the words left her mouth, she seemed to become a completely different person.
Her tense shoulders relaxed, and tears began streaming uncontrollably down her face.
Aggrieved, she said, “So you suspected me? Did deceiving me make you feel proud of yourself?”
She cried for a while, until it seemed as though the “person opposite her” had left.
Then Qi Yu’s gaze changed again.
The hurt and helplessness vanished in an instant. Her dark pupils became like an unfathomable abyss, and her expression turned gloomy, as though she were contemplating something.
Director Wang’s brows had been tightly furrowed ever since Qi Yu began performing.
Now, however, appreciation and curiosity appeared in his expression. He was clearly rather satisfied with her performance.
“You’re Qi Yu, correct? I quite like your interpretation of the character. Can you tell me how you see the relationship between the female lead and the second female lead?”
Qi Yu thought for a moment before answering, “I think the relationship between them is actually symbiotic.”
Director Wang nodded slightly, then finally smiled.
“Thank you for your performance. We’ll contact you once the results are out.”
Qi Yu remained neither servile nor arrogant. A slightly shy smile appeared on her face, but her tone was still firm and confident.
“Thank you for your approval. I’ll continue working hard!”
After leaving the audition classroom, Qi Yu saw a WeChat message Lin Tong had sent half an hour earlier.
Tongtong Baby: How did the audition go? Are you confident?
City A’s Most Delicate Omega: It felt pretty good.
Tongtong Baby: As expected of you! The competition for this role must be fierce, right? Remember to treat me to dinner once you get it~
In a cheerful mood, Qi Yu walked while scrolling through WeChat.
She came across an entertainment-industry public account showing a newly posted article and casually tapped it open.
Star Gossip: Let’s take a look at these famous young Omegas in the entertainment industry. Do you recognize all of these currently popular celebrities?
The moment she opened the article, the first thing that appeared was a photograph of Gu Qian, her former childhood friend.
It had been taken the previous week, when Gu Qian attended a film festival overseas and walked the red carpet.
In the photograph, Gu Qian wore a form-fitting crimson gown that meticulously outlined every curve of her exquisite figure. Graceful and elegant, she linked arms with the male lead from the same film and smiled brightly at the cameras.
They certainly looked like a perfect match.
Qi Yu silently grumbled to herself, Why are they standing so close? Doesn’t she know an Alpha and an Omega should keep a proper distance? She already likes someone, yet she’s still flirting around with other people…
She continued scrolling.
The writer lavished praise on Gu Qian from every conceivable angle—her family background, appearance, academic performance, and more—until there was practically not a single inch left untouched by compliments.
The final sentence read:
It is said that this newly crowned Best Actress has just completed her film festival tour and will soon return home. Are you looking forward to her next film?
Qi Yu rolled her eyes.
She wished Gu Qian would never come back.
Whenever Gu Qian was around, Qi Yu lived in constant fear and anxiety.
Just as she was thinking this, she walked out through the university gates and immediately spotted Gu Qian’s car parked across the road.
Qi Yu was so frightened that her soul nearly left her body.
There were often groups of paparazzi gathered outside the film university, yet Gu Qian had brazenly instructed her driver to park right in front of the entrance.
Fortunately, the windows of Gu Qian’s car were made of one-way glass.
Qi Yu pretended not to see it and calmly headed toward the nearby subway station.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Gu Qian’s car slowly following her, and inwardly groaned in despair.
Gu Qian, don’t you have anything else to do?!
A luxury car followed unhurriedly behind a bright, youthful young woman whose entire body radiated the sweet scent of “Omega” pheromones.
It did not take long for the bizarre scene to draw the attention of several passersby.
Seeing that she was well on her way to becoming a trending social-interest story, Qi Yu sighed helplessly, turned around, and strode quickly toward the car.
With lightning speed, she yanked open the rear door and slammed it shut behind her with a sharp bang.
A faint hibiscus fragrance permeated the interior.
In the back seat, Gu Qian’s peach-blossom eyes curved slightly as she looked at Qi Yu with a hint of amusement.
Her voice, however, remained calm, making it impossible to tell whether she was pleased or upset.
“Am I really that embarrassing to be seen with?”
Qi Yu constantly reminded herself that she was supposed to be a delicate Omega.
She smiled bashfully.
“I just don’t want rumors spreading about you.”
In reality, Qi Yu was afraid Gu Qian’s army of crazed girlfriend fans would tear her apart.
After all, she was merely a fragile little Omega.
Gu Qian blinked.
“Auntie said you had an audition on campus, so she asked me to pick you up on the way and bring you home for dinner.”
She leaned over to fasten Qi Yu’s seat belt.
Her fingers seemed to brush lightly across Qi Yu’s chest.
Qi Yu was just about to move away when she caught sight of a doll placed in front of the rear windshield, and her body stiffened.
It was a somewhat old and worn little doll, now pouting innocently at her.
She still remembered clearly how Gu Qian had held that newly received doll five years ago, smiling radiantly beneath the sunlight.
At the time, Qi Yu had asked curiously, “This doll is pretty cute. Where did you get it?”
Gu Qian had smiled faintly.
“Xu Man gave it to me.”
Even though the air-conditioning was running, Qi Yu suddenly felt that the inside of the car was unbearably stuffy.
Pretending not to care, she said, “You still keep that ugly old doll?”
Gu Qian looked surprised at first.
Then her gaze softened.
“Whenever I see it, I always think of someone.”
Qi Yu wanted to demand loudly, If you already have someone you like, why don’t you go after her? Why insist on marrying me?
But then she reconsidered.
In everyone else’s eyes, she was only an Omega anyway.
There was no possibility of anything happening between her and Gu Qian.
