After Falling in Love with the Scum Alpha’s Beautiful Original Wife at First Sight - Chapter 3
Just as Fang Xiaotang was letting her thoughts run wild, Qi Hengxing came out. Her expression was as usual, as if nothing had happened in the hospital room just now.
“You’re Fang Xiaotang, right? Thank you for telling me about Qi Yue. I’m really sorry. Qi Yue must have caused you a lot of trouble. Did she keep you up all night?”
Seeing that Qi Hengxing did not pursue the matter of her eavesdropping at the door, Fang Xiaotang let out a sigh of relief, though she was still a little ashamed. “No, no. I usually work night shifts anyway, so I normally rest during the day. I’m used to staying up late, so it was actually all right.”
Qi Hengxing glanced at her but did not expose her. When she had arrived just now, she had clearly seen this girl sleeping soundly against the wall.
“You work at a bar? Aren’t you only a sophomore, just like Qi Yue?”
“It’s just a part-time job. I’m mainly responsible for washing glasses and cleaning, things like that. My family’s financial situation is average, so I usually work during holidays to earn a little living expense money for myself.”
When she spoke of her ordinary family background, Fang Xiaotang did not hide it at all. Her attitude was open, natural, and generous.
Qi Hengxing was somewhat surprised. They were clearly the same age, so why did Qi Yue only know how to indulge in drinking and pleasure, make bad friends, deceive those above and below her, and act one way in front of people and another behind their backs? Even her personality was as strange as it could be.
“Then, since you missed work last night, will your boss scold you?”
“That won’t happen. My boss is from the same hometown as me and usually takes good care of me. Besides, I didn’t skip work for no reason. I’ll just explain it to my boss later.”
“Good.” Qi Hengxing felt slightly relieved. “Last night, when Qi Yue got that drunk, were you the one who paid her bill?”
“No, no, no. I used Qi Yue’s phone to pay. But there wasn’t quite enough money, so later I covered some of it myself.” Fang Xiaotang’s face reddened a little.
Qi Hengxing gestured for her to take out her phone and open her payment QR code, then transferred her a sum of money. Fang Xiaotang had thought Qi Hengxing was only going to return the little bit of money she had advanced for the alcohol and medical fees. But when she looked carefully, she found that there was suddenly an extra twenty thousand yuan in her balance.
“T-this is too much. I only helped Qi Yue pay a little. It doesn’t need to be this much. I-I really can’t accept it!” Fang Xiaotang clutched her phone, so anxious that she nearly scratched her ears and cheeks.
Qi Hengxing said calmly, “Compensation for missing work, medical fees, the alcohol bill, and a thank-you fee for you. Added together, this isn’t much.”
Seeing that Fang Xiaotang was still uneasy, Qi Hengxing did not say anything more.
“You’ve worked hard. After being busy all night, you must be tired too. Go back and rest early.”
Being tactfully dismissed by her, Fang Xiaotang dazedly held her phone and was about to leave. Qi Hengxing thought about it, but still called out to her before she stepped into the elevator.
“Oh, right. Qi Yue’s personality really is awful. If you don’t want to have any dealings with her, just ignore her.”
After taking the elevator down to the first floor, Fang Xiaotang still could not figure out what Qi Hengxing’s final words to her meant. She and Qi Yue were not very familiar anyway. Qi Yue often called friends and companions around her at school, while Fang Xiaotang was introverted and only close to her roommates.
Could Qi Yue’s older sister be worried that Qi Yue would bully her at school later?
Meeting at the bar last night had actually been a pure coincidence. She and Qi Yue had completely different personalities. Apart from this kind of coincidence, there should be no chance for them to interact at all.
When Fang Xiaotang got on the bus and was about to go home, she suddenly remembered something else.
Last night, she had run into the drunk Qi Yue in the restroom and had been forcibly dragged back to the private room by the muddle-headed Qi Yue.
Aside from Qi Yue’s friends, there had also been an Alpha in the private room. That person had hugged Qi Yue and held her hand, acting unusually intimate with her. She seemed to have quite a close relationship with Qi Yue.
She had forgotten to tell Qi Hengxing about that.
After Fang Xiaotang left, Qi Hengxing contacted someone and found a caregiver for Qi Yue. Her work had always been busy, and she had originally had a rather important meeting this morning. But because she had suddenly received Fang Xiaotang’s call, she had postponed the meeting.
However, a meeting could be postponed for a short while, but not forever. Although Qi’s mother was overseas, she still knew the company’s movements like the back of her hand.
It was not a big problem for the meeting to be delayed for a little while, but if it was not held for too long, she would probably soon notice that something was wrong on this side.
Although Qi Hengxing had said many harsh words in front of Qi Yue, she did not dare let Qi’s mother know about the messes Qi Yue had caused.
Based on Qi’s mother’s personality, breaking both of Qi Yue’s legs would count as light punishment.
Because of that, Qi Hengxing would rather scold Qi Yue harshly and make her learn her lesson than let Qi’s mother step in to discipline her.
The two elders of the Qi family were old, and Qi’s mother had been abroad for years. Only Qi Hengxing alone bore the heavy burden of the Qi family and the company. She could not possibly spend too much time on Qi Yue.
Qi Hengxing stretched her shoulders and neck, temporarily easing some of her fatigue. She replied to a message from her assistant, pressed the elevator button, and was just about to leave when her gaze swept over something in the corner.
What is this?
Puzzled, Qi Hengxing picked the thing up from the floor.
It was a red handwoven knot, with a gleaming turquoise stone attached to it.

Xu Qingzhi dragged her heavy body back home.
After going to and from the hospital, she had been hit by the cold wind for a while, and her throat felt even more uncomfortable.
Just as she was about to bend down and change her shoes, Xu Qingzhi suddenly saw a pair of black ankle boots on the floor. Her heart gave a sudden thump, and an ominous feeling immediately rose in her.
These were not her shoes.
Xu Qingzhi’s first reaction was that a thief had entered the house.
She was holding the door handle and was about to run outside when she finally realized that Shen Baiyi must have returned.
Before Xu Qingzhi left home in the morning, she had cleaned every room and had deliberately opened all the doors and windows for ventilation.
But now, the guest bedroom door was tightly closed. Shen Baiyi was probably inside catching up on sleep.
While boiling water in the kitchen, Xu Qingzhi suddenly thought that Shen Baiyi was always like this. There was always one business trip after another. Before going on a trip, she would tell Xu Qingzhi, but where she was going, who she was going with, and when she would return were things she almost never told her.
Between a normal Alpha and Omega, would things not be like this?
Cui Can’s words echoed in her ears together with the gradually boiling water. Xu Qingzhi felt a headache coming on. She raised her hand and turned off the stove, but for the moment, she did not have the energy to do anything else.
Just then, a faint rustling sound came from behind her. Xu Qingzhi alertly turned her head and quickly looked over, only to unexpectedly meet Shen Baiyi’s gaze.
Shen Baiyi’s expression looked somewhat stunned. She stood by the kitchen door, perhaps because she had just been sleeping, and the clothes on her body were a little messy.
“Qingzhi? You’re not working today?”
Xu Qingzhi gave a quiet “mm.” She straightened her body. “I took leave today.”
Shen Baiyi nodded randomly. “Oh. I thought you had to work today too.”
What she said was actually very strange, carrying the feeling of someone trying to find something to say.
Xu Qingzhi pretended not to hear that sentence and began organizing the bowls and chopsticks beside her.
Shen Baiyi stood by the door without moving. “Qingzhi, help me turn on the water heater. I want to take a shower.”
Xu Qingzhi answered, and Shen Baiyi gave her a smile before quickly entering the bathroom.
Soon, the sound of rushing water came from the bathroom.
Xu Qingzhi suddenly did not want to take her medicine anymore. She tossed the large bag of medicine she had brought back from the hospital onto the stove counter and went straight back to her room.
By the time Shen Baiyi came out of the bathroom, Xu Qingzhi was already curled up on the bed in the master bedroom, peacefully asleep.
