After I Became A Scumbag Alpha, the Female Lead Omega and I Both Fell Hard (Transmigration Into A Novel) - Chapter 10
This world was not very different from the one Song Chenxi had lived in before transmigrating into the novel. The appliances in this house, however, were several times more advanced.
For example, the faucet before her had far too many buttons, no handle, and no written instructions whatsoever. It was giving her a headache.
Song Chenxi sensed the Omega’s confused gaze beside her, so she pretended to remain calm and continued studying it.
“Ahem…”
After examining it for a long time without making any progress, she cleared her throat guiltily and asked in a weak voice, “Excuse me… but how do you turn this thing on?”
After asking, Song Chenxi turned toward Ruan Tang.
For one fleeting moment, the brows Ruan Tang kept furrowed all day seemed to relax. A faint trace of amusement passed through her beautiful almond-shaped eyes.
She smiled, didn’t she?
She smiled at me, didn’t she?
Those two thoughts repeated endlessly in Song Chenxi’s mind.
She barely dared to breathe, afraid that even the slightest sound might destroy the warmth of that moment.
“Press this green button to dispense sterile water. If you press this yellow one, vegetable-cleaning solution will come out…”
Ruan Tang spoke slowly while demonstrating.
Song Chenxi looked at her fair profile and the slight protrusion at the back of her neck. A faint jasmine fragrance lingered around her nose, and her cheeks abruptly grew a little warm.
There had been an upscale beauty salon beside the hospital where Song Chenxi worked, with beautiful women constantly coming and going.
Song Chenxi had seen every kind of beauty, but this was the first time she had encountered someone like Ruan Tang—someone whose beauty was completely natural yet so exquisite that it seemed unreal.
It was contradictory, yet not discordant in the slightest.
She had been born with these features, yet they were so perfect that she hardly seemed human.
Perhaps this was what a truly divine face looked like.
Ruan Tang pressed the yellow button again, and water poured from the faucet.
Song Chenxi hurriedly placed the small handful of vegetables beneath the stream to rinse them, splashing water everywhere in the process.
Before transmigrating, she had eaten nearly every meal at the hospital cafeteria to save time and money.
All her dexterity and skill had been devoted to surgical operations.
“Master, let me do it.”
Ruan Tang took the vegetables from her and quickly washed them clean.
The freshly rinsed greens looked vibrant and delicious.
“Ruan Tang, you’re amazing!”
Song Chenxi spoke entirely from the heart. After all, she was truly hopeless at cooking. As long as someone allowed her to freeload for food and drinks, she was happy with anything.
Next, Ruan Tang took a moderately sized, long-handled noodle pot from the cabinet, poured in an appropriate amount of water, and brought it to a boil.
While waiting, she prepared a frying pan and sprayed a small amount of olive oil across its surface.
“Master, I’ll make braised noodles with fried eggs for you.”
Her voice was quiet, but Song Chenxi heard every word clearly.
The fact that Ruan Tang could now speak voluntarily and calmly was a positive change.
*
Song Chenxi’s phone ringtone was incredibly irritating.
She wanted to ignore it, but the caller was too persistent.
When she saw the name “Water Snake” on the screen, disgust immediately rose inside her.
She Min might nominally have been the original Song Chenxi’s best friend, but in reality, she was merely a debauched hedonist and disreputable companion.
Working as a doctor had given Song Chenxi a different understanding of time.
She had increasingly come to treasure it.
In one minute, she could eat a potato chip. In one minute, she could answer someone’s phone call. One minute could save a person’s life, and it could also hold one of life’s small, precious joys.
For years, she had deliberately reduced meaningless social interactions and tried to make unlimited use of her limited time.
However, at that moment, an idea suddenly occurred to her.
She had countless questions about Ruan Tang, from her family background to her feelings toward the original Song Chenxi.
Song Chenxi wanted to understand everything in exhaustive detail as soon as possible.
So she accepted the call.
“Oh, my dear little ancestor! You finally answered.”
The other woman appeared to be somewhere extremely noisy. Deafening metallic electronic music roared in the background.
“Mm.”
“Where the hell are you?”
“Home.”
She Min: “…”
The original Song Chenxi had always been extremely enthusiastic toward her disreputable friends. Her sudden reluctance to say more than a single word left She Min so awkward that she did not know how to continue.
After several seconds of silence, She Min spoke first.
“It’s a beautiful spring day. Why are you hiding at home? Don’t tell me you’re planning something big again tonight.”
She paused for a second before continuing.
“What are you playing with this time? Cigarette butts? Or an electric baton? Don’t forget to record it while you’re having fun! Hey, tell us in the group chat when you start filming. I’ll take off my pants.”
Song Chenxi understood exactly what She Min meant.
Her expression darkened, and her teeth clenched tightly. She had already cursed the woman countless times in her mind.
“Why did you call me?” Her voice was as cold as ice.
She Min laughed dryly twice.
“What’s wrong with that tone of yours…?”
“If there’s nothing else, I’m hanging up.”
“Hey, wait, wait!” She Min raised her voice. “When are you free? White Whale is waiting for you.”
Song Chenxi did not know that White Whale was a private club.
“Tsk. Keep pretending!” She Min laughed for a long time. “It’s your own place, and you’re acting as if you don’t know it? When are you coming? I’ll prepare two Omegas for you—fair skin, beautiful faces, and long legs. They’ve both only just differentiated, so they’re wonderfully fresh! And between you and me, there are other surprises waiting for you too!”
Without waiting for Song Chenxi to answer, She Min deliberately raised her voice into a coy falsetto.
“I’m only telling you because your girl cares about you. Come or don’t—it’s up to you!”
The other woman was considerate enough to hang up first.
One second later, Song Chenxi received a WeChat message from She Min.
A time and location.
She sneered, switched her phone to silent, and placed it facedown on the table.
While Song Chenxi was on the phone, Ruan Tang finished preparing the braised noodles.
She held the bowl and was about to open the glass door.
Song Chenxi reached the doorway in one quick stride.
She slid open the glass door and smoothly took the bowl of noodles from Ruan Tang’s hands.
“Hiss—”
It was scorching hot!
Ruan Tang paused at Song Chenxi’s actions.
“Thank you for opening the door, Master. I should still carry the bowl.”
After speaking, she took it back from Song Chenxi.
Once she had arranged the bowl and chopsticks, she reflexively stood stiffly beside Song Chenxi again.
Noticing Ruan Tang’s actions, Song Chenxi gently put down her chopsticks and looked up at her warmly.
“And where is our Ruan Tang’s dinner?”
Ruan Tang froze for a second. Then she tightly clenched her fists and whispered, “I’m not hungry.”
Song Chenxi looked at the enormous bowl of noodles topped with two golden fried eggs and understood instantly.
There had not been much food. Afraid that Song Chenxi would not have enough to eat, Ruan Tang had given all of it to her.
“You didn’t leave any for yourself?”
Only after asking did Song Chenxi realize how ridiculous the question was.
Ruan Tang had never held anything back from her.
Without waiting for an answer, Song Chenxi rose and retrieved a small bowl and another pair of chopsticks from the kitchen.
“Ruan Tang, come here.”
Song Chenxi set down the bowl and chopsticks, pulled out a chair, and beckoned to her.
“Sit here and eat with me.”
Ruan Tang repeatedly shook her head, her entire face expressing refusal.
Song Chenxi walked behind her and gently placed both hands on her shoulders. With only a slight application of force, she guided Ruan Tang toward the chair.
“What a coincidence. I’m not hungry either.”
After Ruan Tang sat down, Song Chenxi returned to her own seat.
“There’s no way I can finish such a large bowl. I don’t like wasting food, so help me eat some of it, all right?”
When Ruan Tang remained silent, Song Chenxi added, “Half for each of us, and our bond will never break.”
Ruan Tang looked into Song Chenxi’s eyes.
Her behavior was genuinely unfamiliar and extremely difficult to adjust to.
Beneath the table, she hid one hand and pinched her thigh hard.
It hurt!
So this was not a dream.
