Chapter 27 – He Yinshao Was Standing Outside Her Villa with a Suitcase?!!

After being shocked for a moment, Leng Yan simply continued eating.

She honestly didn’t care who she married. In the end, she was supposed to return to her original world anyway. Whatever mess remained afterward could be left for the original host to clean up.

Though admittedly, that was a little immoral.

“Sorry, I’m late.” Mother Leng finally arrived at this point, carrying an expensive handbag and clicking over in high heels, the sound grating to the ears.

“You are pretty late. Don’t come next time. You’re ruining everyone’s appetite.” Leng Yan scraped together the last of the rice in her bowl, finished it, wiped her mouth, and stood up.

“Leng Yan! That is your mother!”

“So?” Leng Yan stood and looked down at Father Leng, her tone full of disdain. “When I arrived, you still hadn’t finished dealing with your little mistress. Now Mom shows up late too. It’s pretty obvious how little either of you cared about this dinner, isn’t it?”

“You insolent brat!” Father Leng clutched his chest in fury, then hurriedly looked toward Father Luo. “Brother Luo… don’t listen to this child’s nonsense…”

“Uncle Luo, do you think I’m wrong?” Leng Yan smiled at Father Luo, the smile wild and unrestrained.

“Mm.” There wasn’t the slightest hint of displeasure in Father Luo’s eyes. He smiled as he answered, “You’re right.”

“?” Leng Yan was actually a little surprised.

Still, she smiled. “I’m full. I’ll leave first.”

“Yanyan, I’ll take you home.” Luo Jibai stood up and bowed slightly to everyone at the table. “I’ll be leaving too.”

Leng Yan stepped outside.

Night had already fallen, and the wind had picked up. She rubbed her arms.

“Hiss, it’s actually kind of cold tonight.”

“Mm.” Luo Jibai took off her suit jacket and draped it over Leng Yan’s shoulders. “Keep warm. Don’t catch a cold.”

“Pfft, it’s summer. Who still worries about keeping warm?” Leng Yan laughed and looked up at Luo Jibai.

Luo Jibai stared at the smile blooming on Leng Yan’s face.

Her heartbeat unconsciously sped up.

Her throat moved slightly.

“You should still be careful…”

“Got it. Weren’t you going to take me home? Let’s go.” Leng Yan was wearing high heels, yet her steps remained elegant. Even the sound of her heels against the ground wasn’t harsh.

Luo Jibai watched the increasingly flamboyant figure in front of her, smiled, and followed.

“You know which car is mine?”

“Of course. That Bugatti.”

“How did you know?”

“Please…” Leng Yan turned around with a smile and poked Luo Jibai lightly in the chest. “Your intentions are so obvious that even strangers can see them. You dressed this formally tonight, so I figured the car you drove wouldn’t be anything ordinary either, right?”

“Yanyan…” Luo Jibai reached out, wanting to wrap an arm around her waist, but the person in front of her had already gotten into the car.

Luo Jibai laughed helplessly. “Alright. I suppose I was being a little obvious.”

Leng Yan gave Luo Jibai the address of her villa, then turned to look out the window.

The roar of the Bugatti was especially loud in the middle of the night, with so few cars on the road.

Forty minutes later.

“We’re here.” Luo Jibai turned off the engine. “May I come inside for a while?”

“Of course.” Leng Yan unfastened her seat belt.

“No.”

“Why?”

“If Miss Luo didn’t have any ulterior motives, naturally I’d be happy to invite you in.” Leng Yan smiled and closed the car door.

“Yanyan.” Luo Jibai hurriedly called after her. “Do you like me? Would you marry me?”

“…I’m sorry.”

One answer responded to both questions.

“Why…?”

“You don’t have to do this.”

I’m not the original Leng Yan anyway.

Leng Yan looked at Luo Jibai’s disappointed expression, then turned and left.

Sorry.

She really couldn’t bring herself to hurt another girl’s feelings…

The moon was covered by clouds, and even the moonlight dimmed.

Leng Yan returned home.

“Sis~ You’re back?”

The familiar voice immediately made Leng Yan’s scalp tingle.

Sure enough, Leng Junhui was sitting on the sofa playing a game.

“Why are you dressed so nicely today?”

“…Why are you here? Didn’t I delete your fingerprint access?” Leng Yan sighed.

She suspected Leng Junhui had stolen someone else’s fingerprint to get in.

“Oh, I borrowed a ladder and climbed in through the second floor.” Leng Junhui said it as though it were perfectly reasonable.

“…And you sound proud of that?”

“Hehe~ I heard Uncle asked you to come home today? Sister Luo came back too?” Leng Junhui asked with a grin.

“You already know my dad called me back, so why are you asking me something you already know?”

“I wanted to confirm it with you personally. So, do you like Sister Luo?” Leng Junhui looked curiously at Leng Yan. “Are you going to marry her later?”

“I don’t like her. I only see her as an older sister.”

Leng Yan went upstairs.

For some reason, when Leng Junhui had said the word “marry,” He Yinshao had suddenly appeared in her mind.

It was probably only because so many things involving He Yinshao had happened recently that she kept thinking of her.

“Behave yourself while you’re here. If you wake me up in the middle of the night, Leng Junhui, you can go die.”

After saying that, Leng Yan shut her bedroom door.

“What are you being so fierce for…” Leng Junhui didn’t care at all and continued playing his game.

On his phone was the conversation he’d had with Luo Jibai that afternoon.

“Sister Luo? You’re back?”

“Mm, I’m back.”

“Then do you still like my sister?”

“Of course. Yanyan has a family dinner tonight. My father and I will be there too.”

“Alright.”

…

Leng Junhui had originally only planned to chat briefly and ask how she was doing before ending the conversation.

But then Luo Jibai sent him a red packet and told him to start calling her “brother-in-law.”

Leng Junhui immediately agreed like a shameless lackey and even gifted Luo Jibai a post on Moments.

“WELCOME BROTHER-IN-LAW BACK TO CHINA!!! A WARM WELCOME!!!”

.

That night, after He Yinshao finished everything she needed to do, washed up, and lay in bed, she picked up her phone and idly scrolled through Moments.

Then she saw that heart-stopping post.

She immediately panicked and opened her chat with Leng Junhui.

[Who is the brother-in-law in your Moments?]

[Xiao He? You look at my Moments?] Leng Junhui laughed when he saw the message.

Sure enough, Xiao He liked him.

[It’s Sister Luo. She recently came back to China. Uncle even called them over for dinner tonight.]

[Why are you calling her brother-in-law…?]

[Oh, Sister Luo has always liked Sis. She just got back today and already had dinner with her tonight. Aiya, she’ll definitely manage to win Sis over eventually.]

He Yinshao stared at those lines of text.

Her unease grew even stronger.

She forced herself to remain calm.

[Not necessarily…]

[Why not? Otherwise, why hasn’t my sister dated anyone all these years? She must have at least some feelings for Sister Luo.]

He Yinshao felt as though her head was about to explode.

She turned off her phone screen and collapsed onto the bed, looking utterly dispirited.

That woman really was something…

Filming had only ended two days ago, and already another pursuer had appeared after returning from overseas…

And it might even be someone Leng Yan liked…

He Yinshao didn’t sleep all night.

The next day, Leng Yan had just driven her red sports car out of the villa when she saw a familiar figure.

He Yinshao was standing outside the gates of her villa with a suitcase?!!
