Chapter 28 – If I Send Her Back to Your House, Does That Count as Sending Her Back?
“…?” Leng Yan lowered the car window in confusion. “He Yinshao, why are you here? Did you forget to pay the utilities for the house I bought you?”
He Yinshao’s fingers tightened around the handle of her suitcase. She lowered her eyes and looked innocently at Leng Yan without saying a word.
“Say something…”
Seeing that He Yinshao refused to answer no matter how much she asked, Leng Yan got annoyed, stepped on the gas, and sped away in her red sports car.
On the road, Leng Yan called Leng Junhui.
“Where are you right now?”
Leng Junhui sounded confused. “I’m going to find Xiao He. Sis, what’s wrong?”
“He Yinshao is fucking standing outside my house right now. Hurry up and come get her.” Leng Yan suddenly remembered that He Yinshao’s clothes had looked damp just now, probably from morning dew.
When had she even arrived?
“Huh??” Leng Junhui hadn’t expected this at all.
He had gone home after finishing his game last night.
This morning, he had planned to visit He Yinshao, but after knocking for ages without anyone answering, he never imagined she had gone straight to his sister’s villa.
“Got it, got it. I’m heading over now.” Leng Junhui hurriedly answered into the phone.
Leng Yan could hear the roar of an engine through the call before she finally hung up.
.
He Yinshao watched Leng Yan’s car disappear from sight, then boredly sat down on top of her suitcase.
It was enough to act obedient and pitiful in front of Leng Yan.
There was no need to actually overdo it and exhaust herself.
“That woman really is heartless. She just drove away like that…”
Was she supposed to wait here until dark?
Fifteen minutes later, a hoarse voice called out.
“Xiao He!”
Leng Junhui got out of the car, panting as he ran over to her.
“Hah… hah… Sis told me you were here…”
“What else did she say?” He Yinshao looked up at him like a pitiful little white rabbit and tugged on his sleeve.
“She told me… to take you away…” Being tugged like that made Leng Junhui’s heart speed up uncontrollably. He held his breath and instantly stood ramrod straight.
“…”
“Xiao He?” Leng Junhui saw He Yinshao’s shoulders trembling and leaned closer in confusion. “What’s wrong?”
“I actually don’t want to leave…” He Yinshao finally voiced her thoughts, sniffling as she spoke. “I… sob…”
“Hey, hey, hey!! Don’t cry! Don’t cry!” Leng Junhui panicked and awkwardly patted her shoulder. “I’ll take you inside. Just don’t cry!”
“Really?” He Yinshao stopped sobbing and looked up at him with red eyes, tears still clinging to her lashes.
“Really, really…” Seeing that she had finally stopped crying, Leng Junhui breathed a sigh of relief. “Wait here for a bit.”
“?”
He Yinshao really did stand there and wait.
A few minutes later,
Leng Junhui came back carrying a ladder into the villa grounds.
He Yinshao followed him. He steadied the ladder, whose top reached exactly to the second-floor window of Leng Yan’s room.
“Wait here. I’ll climb in and open the door for you.”
“Okay. Be careful.” He Yinshao held her suitcase with one hand and pressed the other to her chest.
She didn’t help hold the ladder at all.
And Leng Junhui failed to notice that detail.
He smiled and patted his chest confidently. “Don’t worry. I’ll definitely get you inside.”
Before long, he nimbly climbed through the window into Leng Yan’s room, then went downstairs and opened the front door for He Yinshao.
“Come in.”
“Thank you.” He Yinshao pulled her suitcase back into the storage room where she had originally stayed.
“You’re still staying here??” Leng Junhui looked at the dust piled up inside, waved a hand in front of his face, and complained, “A doghouse would be cleaner than this.”
“It’s fine. I can live with it…” He Yinshao still looked like a harmless little white rabbit.
“Tsk.” Leng Junhui gritted his teeth, grabbed He Yinshao, and pulled her toward the living room. “Move into a guest room. I’ll tell my sister.”
“Is there a room next to hers?”
“??” Leng Junhui turned around.
He Yinshao still looked pitiful and innocent, so his suspicion immediately disappeared.
“My sister has an entire floor to herself. You can stay in one of the guest rooms on the third floor.”
“Alright.”
Leng Junhui carried He Yinshao’s suitcase into the room directly above Leng Yan’s.
“There. You can stay here from now on.”
“Mm, thank you.” He Yinshao accepted the suitcase, her face filled with gratitude. “I’ll arrange the room a little. If there’s nothing else, you can go first.”
“Oh, sure.” Leng Junhui answered casually. “I’ll head out, then. If you need anything, just call me!”
Only after leaving the villa did Leng Junhui belatedly remember that he had originally gone there specifically to find He Yinshao.
“Forget it, forget it. I found her anyway.”
He took out his phone and called Leng Yan.
“Hello? Sis?”
“What?” Leng Yan flipped through the documents in her hand. “Did you send He Yinshao back?”
“Uh… I sent her back to your house. Does that count as sending her back?” Leng Junhui asked cautiously.
“………”
Leng Yan slammed the documents in her hand onto the desk, startling the subordinate who had brought them over.
She cursed into the phone.
“I fucking told you to send He Yinshao back to the house I bought her. Leng Junhui, if you don’t need your brain anymore, donate it.”
“There was nothing I could do. Xiao He didn’t want to leave…”
“What, does she have Stockholm syndrome?” Leng Yan pinched the bridge of her nose, her head pounding.
“It’s just one extra pair of chopsticks, Sis. Just let her stay there. Uh, I see Sister Luo. I’m hanging up now.”
“You—”
Beep, beep, beep——
“President Leng? You haven’t signed yet…” The subordinate holding the documents carefully reminded her.
“I know. This is the contract for the cooperation with He Ji?”
“Yes.”
Leng Yan casually flipped through two pages, signed her name, then hurriedly put on a gray suit.
She found her assistant.
“I have something to do this afternoon. I won’t be coming back.”
.
Leng Junhui hadn’t lied.
He really had seen Luo Jibai standing outside the villa, so he waved at her.
“Sister Luo, Sister Luo! Over here!”
“Mm? Leng Junhui? Is your sister home?” Luo Jibai walked over to him. “I came to see her about something.”
“She’s not here.”
“What about the servants?”
“Oh, Sis pulled an all-nighter these past two days, so she sent all the servants home to rest and told them not to disturb her sleep. She went to the company today.”
“Then why are you here?”
“Oh, I helped Xiao He get inside. No one was home to open the door for us, so I had no choice but to climb in through the window.” Leng Junhui pointed toward the ladder nearby. “There. I haven’t even had time to put the ladder away yet.”
“The window you climbed through looks like your sister’s room.” Luo Jibai looked at the window Leng Junhui had used, crossed her arms, and stared at him leisurely. “Careful, or I’ll tell your sister.”
“Sister Luo, I already treat you like my brother-in-law…”
“Hiss, kid, you really know what to say.” Being called “brother-in-law” put Luo Jibai in an excellent mood.
“Then Sister Luo, since my sister isn’t home, I’ll leave first. You can go find her at the company.” Leng Junhui picked up the ladder and walked out of the villa. “See you.”
“Got it. Bye.” Luo Jibai smiled and waved at Leng Junhui before turning and leaving.
