After the Scumbag Alpha Tries to Save the Love-Struck and Flips Over (Quick Transmigration GL) - Chapter 31
Chapter 31: Reunion
Shen Su recognized Lu Yan’s hand immediately because of the diamond ring she was wearing.
Thus, she didn’t struggle. Being pinned against the wall by Lu Yan, her eyes held a trace of a smile. “When did you come out? I almost couldn’t find you.”
Shen Su raised her hand, brushing away Lu Yan’s slightly messy bangs.
Lu Yan’s cheeks were flushed crimson, her eyes misty and hazy, her gaze flickering with emotion. One look was enough to make Shen Su want to scoop her up and take her home, so no one else could see this pitiful yet adorable side of her.
“I missed you too much, so I came out early.” Lu Yan propped one hand against the wall while the other gently stroked Shen Su’s cheek. “I just didn’t expect Sister to enter through a different entrance.”
Shen Su gave a soft “mm,” a smile playing on her lips. “Quite a coincidence.”
“I didn’t catch you, but those people got to see you first. Sister, what should I do? I’m a bit unhappy,” Lu Yan pouted.
Shen Su raised her hand to catch one of Lu Yan’s hands, interlacing their fingers. With a quick turn, she pinned Lu Yan into the corner. She caught Lu Yan’s other hand as well, raising them both above Lu Yan’s head, and captured her lips in a kiss.
They were inches apart; Lu Yan felt the warm breath brush past her cheek, and her heart rate began to climb. Through two thin layers of shirts, they felt the heat radiating from each other’s skin—intense and intoxicating.
The faint scent of iris swirled around Shen Su’s nose. She instinctively reached out to stroke the back of Lu Yan’s neck, her thumb landing on the exposed scent gland. She suddenly snapped back to her senses and released Lu Yan.
“So bold? Not wearing a scent blocker?” Shen Su pinched Lu Yan’s cheek. After speaking, she swept her up in a princess carry. “Too dangerous. You aren’t allowed to do this next time.”
Lu Yan rested her chin in the crook of Shen Su’s neck and said in a muffled voice, “Do I really need a blocker in front of you?”
Shen Su was momentarily speechless but didn’t stop walking. “People could come by here at any time. What if…”
“There are no ‘what ifs’.” Lu Yan interrupted what Shen Su was about to say. “Sister, I only depend on your pheromones. So, no matter who comes by, I won’t have a reaction.”
“I trust you, but I worry about others having bad intentions.” Shen Su placed her hand over Lu Yan’s scent gland. “I’ll worry. Don’t do this next time, okay?”
Lu Yan hooked her arms around Shen Su’s neck and wheedled, “Don’t you worry, Sister. I won’t take off the blocker when you aren’t around.” As she spoke, she pressed her lips against Shen Su’s neck, feeling the pulse beneath the skin.
Shen Su sighed softly, placed Lu Yan into the passenger seat, and personally fastened her seatbelt before returning to the driver’s seat to take her home.
The iris scent inside the car grew increasingly dense. Shen Su glanced at the dazed Lu Yan and quickened her speed within a safe limit. She drove into the garage and carried her out of the car.
Shen Su had notified Butler Song in advance, so he didn’t appear. They reached the room without obstacles, and she locked the door.
She placed Lu Yan carefully on the bed, but Lu Yan didn’t let go, pulling Shen Su onto the mattress with her. “Sister, I can wait, but my heat can’t.”
“I know. But I recall the two-month mark hasn’t arrived yet. How did you…” Before she could finish, she was cut off by a fiery kiss from Lu Yan.
After they had been inseparable for a long while, Lu Yan finally said, “Because I missed Sister too much. I couldn’t be away from Sister’s pheromones for a single second. So, I carried things with your residual scent with me. That’s why my heat came early.”
Shen Su’s heart felt a sharp prick of guilt. She smiled wryly. “What if I wasn’t around when you went into heat because of this?”
“I wouldn’t. I didn’t smell Sister’s pheromones before the social event today. I only took this out to smell it after I came out.” Lu Yan took out the little rabbit charm and sniffed it again. “Actually, the scent is very faint now; you can’t smell it unless you’re careful. So, Sister, my heat only appeared because you arrived. Don’t you try to shift the blame!”
She thought to herself that even if Shen Su wasn’t there when her heat started early, she could endure it. To her, long-term separation was far more painful than two days of heat.
Shen Su peeled off her own scent blocker and sighed. “Fine, it’s all my fault. What compensation does Yan Yan want?”
“I’m not greedy. Just stay with me for two days.” Lu Yan, of course, wished Shen Su’s rut would start immediately so they could be together for seven days.
“Alright.”
Lu Yan didn’t get her wish; Shen Su’s rut did not come.
Soon, she had to return home. Before leaving, she clung to Shen Su and begged her to take time off to see her to the airport. Shen Su had no choice but to request a leave from her professor to drop Lu Yan off.
Lu Yan hugged Shen Su reluctantly. “Sister, come with me, okay?”
“Yan Yan…” Shen Su felt helpless.
“Fine.” Lu Yan knew Shen Su wouldn’t agree, so she had another idea. “Sister, your rut should be coming soon, right? Tell me in advance, and I’ll come stay with you.”
Shen Su’s eyes flickered as she whispered her agreement. “Okay.” Then, feeling quite guilty, she rubbed Lu Yan’s head.
She watched Lu Yan board the plane and then turned to leave, a wave of bitterness spreading through her heart. She likely wouldn’t wait for this rut. After the gland removal, she needed to ensure the pheromone extraction was proceeding smoothly before she could fake her death. In other words, she had to remove the gland a month before her exit.
The big problem was how to prevent “Lu Yan coming over after the surgery.” However, Lu Yan’s next heat should be in December, which would perfectly coincide with the first batch of pheromone extract. There shouldn’t be any major issues.
With that thought, she set her GPS for the hospital where Dr. Zhou was located.
Dr. Zhou was shocked when she heard Shen Su’s request to remove her scent gland. She adjusted her glasses, unable to understand. “You… this is completely unnecessary. The risks of gland removal are very high. Even if a gland were to be removed, it shouldn’t be yours.”
“It’s a debt I caused; I should bear the consequences.” Shen Su sighed softly, speaking with an ambiguous tone.
Dr. Zhou frowned deeply. “When your friend’s sister came for the surgery recently, she recovered very well. She was under anesthesia, so it wasn’t very painful.”
Shen Su nodded.
Dr. Zhou’s tone shifted. “But if you are to remove your gland, to ensure the activity of the pheromones, you cannot use anesthesia. Can you accept that?”
Shen Su gave a soft “mm.” Lu Yan would never agree to the removal; this was something she had to do in secret.
“Gland removal isn’t as simple as you think.” Dr. Zhou paused, citing a recent example. “Take that Mr. Liang, for instance. He was already in immense pain. The process of removing the gland without anesthesia was agonizing—it even eclipsed the pain from the car accident.”
Shen Su lowered her lashes and called out to the system in her mind.
System: What is it, dear~
Shen Su: Can you temporarily block the sensation of pain?
System: Dear, I can only help you block the pain once—during your final exit!
Shen Su: …
“Are you sure?” Dr. Zhou asked again.
Shen Su could only agree. “I’m sure.”
“Very well. Do a check-up first, then we’ll set the time.” Though Dr. Zhou felt it was a pity, she couldn’t change Shen Su’s mind and could only agree.
After finishing the full-body check-up with Dr. Zhou’s assistant, the surgery was finally scheduled for mid-November. She did the math; normally, she would enter her rut in late October. That would leave about half a month until the surgery. If Lu Yan came then, what should she do?
Perhaps she could find a way to delay the rut until ten days before the surgery to put Lu Yan’s mind at ease?
Thinking of this, Shen Su asked before leaving: “Dr. Zhou, what if my rut comes before the surgery? Will it affect the operation?”
Dr. Zhou said, “We can’t operate during a rut, but we can as soon as it ends.”
“Can I use some medication to delay the rut? Will it affect the surgery?” Shen Su asked tentatively.
Dr. Zhou looked at her strangely. “It won’t affect it, as a seven-day rut is enough to metabolize the drug. But why would you want to delay it? After all, once the gland is removed, the rut will never come again.”
“Thank you for your concern, Dr. Zhou, I know what I’m doing.” Shen Su said with a smile.
Seeing Shen Su wasn’t willing to say more, Dr. Zhou didn’t push. She only nodded. “A strong rut-delaying agent has significant side effects. Your rut will be quite uncomfortable afterward. Think it over. I won’t prescribe it for you here; you can buy it yourself at a legitimate pharmacy.”
After leaving the hospital, Shen Su bought the hormones at a roadside pharmacy. For the next month, she maintained a frequency of one call a day with Lu Yan.
In late October, Lu Yan naturally brought up Shen Su’s rut during a call. “Sister, I remember your rut should be coming soon. I’ll come stay with you?”
Shen Su had already used the strong delaying agent according to the instructions, so she said, “Maybe because you aren’t by my side, I feel like the rut has been delayed. Yan Yan, don’t worry. I’ll feel it if it’s coming, and I’ll tell you then.”
“Okay.” Lu Yan was still a bit uneasy. However, as the days passed and Shen Su showed no abnormalities, Lu Yan gradually relaxed.
Ten days before the surgery, Shen Su mentioned her rut during a call with Lu Yan. “Yan Yan, I feel like my rut is coming. When are you coming over?”
Lu Yan’s lips curved upward instinctively. “I’ll book a flight immediately and come tonight!”
“Okay, I’ll wait for you at home.” Shen Su looked out the window at the full moon hanging in the vast night sky. It was a good day for a reunion.
As soon as Shen Su pulled the curtains shut, she felt her gland beginning to burn. She injected a suppressant and lay down on the bed, curling up and counting the time, waiting for Lu Yan to arrive.
Tick, tock, tick, tock—
The crisp sound of the clock struck against Shen Su’s heart. Her consciousness occasionally slipped. The bedside lamp and water glass had already tumbled to the floor. She bit her lip hard, the pain bringing a moment of clarity. She realized she had underestimated the delaying agent; this was far more painful than a normal rut.
The suppressants seemed to have failed as well. Shen Su was worried she would lose her mind before Lu Yan arrived. Even though Lu Yan’s pheromones could soothe her, she didn’t want Lu Yan to be frightened by seeing her in such a pathetic state the moment she opened the door.
Shen Su wanted to go to the bathroom to wash her face and clear her head, so she struggled to get out of bed. As she stepped down, she staggered and stepped on a piece of glass from the broken cup. She gasped, falling back onto the edge of the bed. Blood seeped from the bottom of her foot, and the shock brought her back to her senses.
She hurriedly pulled open the nightstand drawer and took out the first-aid kit. She carefully disinfected the wound, wrapped it in a bandage, and lay back down. Shen Su looked at the ceiling, feeling like crying but having no tears. Why did she have to hurt her foot now? Luckily it wasn’t serious; she could handle it herself.
Not long after she lay down, Lu Yan arrived, gasping for breath. The moment she entered, the air was filled with the rich, intoxicating scent of red wine. She took a few steps forward and sniffed, noticing a faint scent of blood mixed in with the wine.
“Sister, are you okay?” Lu Yan asked.
Shen Su propped herself up on her elbows. Before Lu Yan could walk over, she warned, “A glass broke by the bed. Be careful not to hurt yourself.”
Lu Yan looked down at Shen Su’s bandaged foot, pursed her lips, and then got a broom and dustpan from the bathroom to clean up the glass shards.
“Yan Yan, why aren’t you talking?” Shen Su felt an inexplicable wave of panic.
