After the Scumbag Alpha Tries to Save the Love-Struck and Flips Over (Quick Transmigration GL) - Chapter 30
Shen Su slowly opened her eyes. The surroundings were dim, with only the swaying candlelight casting a warm glow.
The moment felt like a leap back to a week ago; the final meal before her departure had looked exactly like this. However, last time it was a candlelight dinner she had prepared; this time, it was Lu Yan’s handiwork.
“All of this… you prepared it?” Shen Su asked, pleasantly surprised.
Lu Yan rubbed her head shyly. “I did. This past week, whenever I had a spare moment, I went to a chef to learn. My cooking has improved a lot—at least it’s edible now!” She wanted to show Shen Su only her best side.
“You didn’t mention this once during our calls. Wanted to surprise me?” Shen Su rubbed Lu Yan’s head. “You’ve worked hard!”
“It wasn’t hard. As long as Sister is happy, anything I do is worth it.” Lu Yan stood on her tiptoes and pecked the corner of Shen Su’s mouth.
Shen Su smiled, sat down, and picked up her cutlery. She tasted the steak Lu Yan had seared. “It’s delicious.”
“As long as it’s good. I also made a mousse cake; want to try some?” Lu Yan went into the kitchen and brought out a plate with blueberry mousse. It looked bouncy and gave off a rich aroma of blueberries and milk.
“Our Yan Yan is so amazing!” Shen Su clapped, her eyes full of warmth.
“Meow—” Mu Mu, who had been curled up on the balcony, ran over and rubbed against Shen Su’s ankle, tickling her.
Shen Su leaned down and picked him up, rubbing the kitten’s head. She laughed. “Mu Mu seems to have gained quite a bit of weight, and his coat looks much better. It seems our Yan Yan is very good at taking care of little animals.”
“Yes, little animals can keep me company.” As long as she wanted, the little animal would never leave her, but between people, there are always partings.
Just like her and Shen Su.
Even though it had only been a short week, every day of that week had been agonizing. Even though her life was busy and full, she still missed Shen Su. She often suffered from insomnia, waking up in the middle of the night to reach out toward the empty space beside her. During the day, she often drifted off, her mind consumed by thoughts of Shen Su.
Lu Yan suppressed the bitterness in her heart and beamed at Shen Su. “Sister, let’s eat first. Let Mu Mu play by himself for a bit!”
“Alright.” Shen Su nodded and set Mu Mu back down.
Mu Mu looked up at her, then at Lu Yan, and tactfully returned to his bed to lie down.
After dinner, the two went to the bathroom to wash up. A warm mist filled the room as the water level in the bathtub slowly rose. With a splash, the two stepped into the tub, causing the water to surge. The warm water from the showerhead soaked their hair and cheeks. Once the water reached their chests, Shen Su reached out to turn off the tap and kissed Lu Yan passionately.
Perhaps because “absence makes the heart grow fonder,” they stayed in the bathroom for nearly an hour. Finally, Shen Su carried an exhausted Lu Yan out of the tub, dried her off, wrapped her in a bath towel, and returned to the bedroom.
“Sister, let me hold you while we sleep tonight, okay?” Lu Yan lay on her side facing Shen Su, her arm wrapping around Shen Su’s waist. Perhaps because she was too tired, her voice carried a hint of hoarseness, yet it was still clearly wheedling.
Previously, it was usually Shen Su who held Lu Yan to sleep. Hearing this request, Shen Su naturally didn’t refuse, simply smiling. “Sure.”
When she woke up the next morning, Shen Su felt Lu Yan’s rapid heartbeat and the warm breath dusting the back of her neck—tingly and comfortable. She could tell Lu Yan was faking sleep and chuckled. “Yan Yan, time to get up. Let’s go meet a few people today.”
Lu Yan stopped pretending, rubbed her eyes, and asked vaguely, “Meet who? Today I only want to see Sister. Don’t give our time to anyone else, okay?”
“Alright, we won’t then.” Shen Su had originally planned to meet Li Wei, but since Li Wen was coming to Germany, Li Wei would likely follow. She could treat them to dinner then. Lu Yan was right; they didn’t have much time to begin with.
Shen Su kissed Lu Yan’s forehead. “What do you want for breakfast? I’ll make it for you.”
“Sister, let me do it! I haven’t made breakfast for you yet! You just wait here for a surprise!” Lu Yan grinned.
Shen Su looked expectant. “Okay!” She remembered that when she first left, Lu Yan knew nothing about cooking. Now she was preparing candlelight dinners and making breakfast?
About twenty minutes later, after Shen Su had tidied herself up, she walked into the dining room. A fresh, savory aroma filled the air.
“Sister, I’ve made sandwiches, and the fried eggs inside are heart-shaped!” Lu Yan said proudly. “Am I great or what?”
Shen Su clapped as she sat down. “Yan Yan is so impressive!”
Lu Yan took out two pairs of chopsticks, handed one to Shen Su, and sat beside her. “The seafood porridge isn’t done simmering yet; Sister will have to wait a bit.”
“It’s okay, no rush,” Shen Su said with a smile.
Lu Yan nodded, then asked, “When are you planning to leave?”
“Tonight.” Shen Su paused, then teased, “Are you reluctant to let me go, or are you trying to kick me out?”
Lu Yan sat on Shen Su’s lap, hooking her arms around her neck. “Does that even need asking? I’m reluctant, of course!”
“Sister, I want to go with you so much. Work is so tiring, I have so much to learn, and I have to hurry up and finish my credits.” Lu Yan pouted, burying her head in Shen Su’s chest. “It’s really exhausting.”
Shen Su rubbed her head. “Don’t rush, take it slow. If there’s anything you don’t understand, you can ask me or others.”
“Okay,” Lu Yan replied obediently.
That day, Shen Su didn’t leave the house, simply staying home with Lu Yan. It wasn’t until evening that Lu Yan drove Shen Su to the airport. Watching Shen Su depart on the private plane, the smile on Lu Yan’s face vanished instantly.
Thinking about how this parting would repeat constantly over the next two years, she felt an impulse—to keep Shen Su here. But she was afraid Shen Su would be unhappy, so she never showed this thought in front of her. She thought to herself: It’s only two years; I can afford to wait. As long as Shen Su came back in two years, she was willing to be patient.
After Shen Su returned to the villa in Germany, she first called Lu Yan to coax her to sleep before messaging Li Wei: Still awake?
Li Wei replied instantly: Awake. Heard you went back home?
Shen Su: I did, just got back.
Li Wei: Didn’t you say you’d treat me to dinner? You stood me up just like that?
Shen Su: (Dog head emoji) Next time for sure!
Li Wei: …Fine. Anyway, I’m bringing my sister over next month. You’d better not back out then!
Shen Su: Don’t worry. But it’s best if Lu Yan doesn’t find out about this.
Li Wei: Why?
Even though Lu Yan was “love-struck,” she wasn’t stupid. If she connected the dots through Li Wen, things might become difficult to handle.
Shen Su replied: Afraid she’ll get jealous.
Li Wei: Understood…
In the following period, not only did Shen Su become busy, but Lu Yan was also swamped. They went from two calls a day to one call every two days, and eventually to replying to messages only in cycles. Finally, Lu Yan lost her patience. During the National Day holiday, she secretly flew to Germany.
At this time, Shen Su was accompanying Li Wei outside the operating room. Li Wen was inside undergoing the scent gland removal surgery. By evening, Shen Su treated Li Wei to dinner and didn’t head home until after 8:00 PM.
When she saw the lights on in the villa from outside the yard, she was puzzled. Did her parents come? Why didn’t they tell her in advance? Butler Song wouldn’t let a stranger in, so the person inside must be someone close to her.
She opened the door and saw Lu Yan slumped over the dining table. Shen Su’s heart skipped a beat. “Yan Yan, why are you here?” She couldn’t tell if she was happy or nervous at that moment.
Lu Yan didn’t answer the question, her tone flat. “You didn’t have classes this afternoon. Where did you go? Why are you just getting back now?”
Shen Su had shown Lu Yan her class schedule, so Lu Yan remembered it perfectly. Lu Yan leaned in to sniff Shen Su. Aside from the smell of disinfectant, there were no other pheromone scents. She breathed a sigh of relief but reacted quickly. “You went to the hospital? Why? Are you feeling unwell?” Lu Yan grabbed Shen Su’s wrist to check, but saw no needle marks.
“It wasn’t me…” Shen Su shook her head, hesitating for a moment.
Lu Yan reached out to cover Shen Su’s mouth, her palm touching those soft lips. Her heart rate spiked, but she still voiced the doubt in her mind. “Sister, I trust you won’t fail me. I hope you won’t lie to me because you’re afraid I’ll be jealous. So, who was it?”
Seeing this, Shen Su sighed and told the truth. “Li Wen came to see Dr. Zhou for surgery. I happened to be free, so I accompanied them. Li Wei had helped me a lot before, so I treated her to dinner while I was at it. That’s all. If I had known you were coming, I would have come back early to be with you.”
Lu Yan hugged Shen Su and was silent for a while before saying, “Sister, didn’t we agree? Everything must be reported. Why didn’t you tell me about something this important in advance?”
“I’m sorry, it won’t happen again.” Shen Su apologized promptly, kissing Lu Yan’s lips to stop her from further questioning.
Lu Yan stayed the night at the villa, but the next morning, she showed no sign of leaving. She got up early to make breakfast for Shen Su. Afraid of a misunderstanding, Shen Su didn’t ask when she was leaving. After breakfast, Lu Yan took the initiative to say, “I have a business meeting in Germany today, so I came over early to find you. I’m leaving in ten minutes.”
“I’ll drive you.” Shen Su picked up the car keys, wanting to drop Lu Yan off, but Lu Yan refused.
“No need, my car and driver are already waiting outside.” Today, Lu Yan was dressed in a black suit with her long, straight hair falling naturally. Perhaps because she was dressed up, the usual cuteness and childishness were absent from her face.
For a moment, Shen Su felt that Lu Yan overlapped with the Lu Yan in her dream who held the dog leash. The next second, she dismissed the thought as Lu Yan threw herself into her arms as always; any aura of seriousness vanished in that embrace. When Lu Yan spoke, her voice was still sweet and clingy. “Sister, wait for me to come back tonight, okay?”
“Okay, I’ll make you something good.” Shen Su raised her hand, wanting to rub Lu Yan’s head, but remembering that her look was carefully styled, she didn’t want to ruin it and silently withdrew her hand.
Lu Yan pursed her lips and stepped out of the embrace. “Then I’m going?”
Shen Su nodded. “Go ahead. I’ll wait for you at home.”
“Then Sister must wait for me at home, don’t run off with anyone else…” Lu Yan paused. “I don’t know how long the social event will last. If I get back late, remember to come pick me up.”
“Sure. But I recall you have a driver?” Shen Su raised an eyebrow. “How about giving your driver the day off, and I’ll handle the pick-up and drop-off?”
“Yay!” Lu Yan was more than happy to agree.
In the evening, Shen Su watched Lu Yan enter the restaurant while she sat in the car, enjoying the night breeze. Lu Yan would likely have to drink during this social event, so Shen Su had already fed her beforehand. She checked her phone periodically, waiting for a message. By 8:00 PM, she still hadn’t heard from her, but Li Wei messaged her.
The surgery was a success. Thanks for helping us get in touch with Dr. Zhou.
Shen Su replied: Congratulations, you’re welcome.
Just then, a message from Lu Yan arrived: Sister, I think I drank too much, my head is spinning…
Shen Su got out of the car immediately. Following the room information Lu Yan had given her earlier, she reached the door. She knocked and opened it, only to see a circle of unfamiliar faces. She froze. “Sorry, wrong room.”
She quickly closed the door, looked up at the room number, and murmured, “That’s right, it’s here…”
The room happened to be at a corner. In Shen Su’s peripheral vision, a hand appeared and grabbed her wrist.
