Chapter 1
The chandelier overhead swayed, casting a dim yellow glow.
Pei Jiuyao slowly opened her eyes and pulled herself up from the sofa. Beyond the enormous floor-to-ceiling windows, the sky was dark as ink, and distant lights dotted the glass.
She looked away from the windows, her gaze falling on the burgundy curtains and the leather sofa.
A sharp pain suddenly shot through the back of her head. Pei Jiuyao hissed softly and clutched her head, bracing an arm against the sofa as she bent forward.
Where was she? She couldn’t remember a thing.
She struggled to her feet, trying to recall how she had ended up here, only to catch the strong scent of strawberry sparkling wine in the air.
Unlike ordinary alcohol, the sweet, alluring fragrance stirred an unbearable longing in her.
Pei Jiuyao felt a little thirsty. She tugged hard at her shirt collar, sending a button flying. It clattered onto the floor.
She froze for a moment.
Although her head was still foggy, Pei Jiuyao knew this wasn’t somewhere familiar. As someone in the entertainment industry, she couldn’t leave even a button behind for someone else to use against her.
Taking a deep breath, Pei Jiuyao went over, picked up the button, and slipped it into her shirt pocket. She noticed a door standing half-open nearby. There seemed to be faint movement inside, and the scent was coming from there too.
Pei Jiuyao pushed herself up from the floor and steadied herself against the wall. She swayed for a moment before quickly regaining her balance.
Almost on instinct, she made her way over and pushed the door open.
The woman lying on the bed suddenly turned around, clutching the sheets tightly as her body twisted into a shapely curve beneath a layer of sheer white fabric.
Pei Jiuyao went completely still and forgot to breathe.
Even after so many years in the entertainment industry, she had never seen a woman so breathtakingly beautiful. Her gaze was as cold as ice, yet her body burned like a brazier full of coals.
Her skin was as pale and smooth as fine jade, flushed in patches beneath the dim light. The corners of her eyes were damp, her lips were bright red, and the rounded tip of her nose glistened with moisture, making her look all the more pitiful.
When the woman saw Pei Jiuyao approach, she quickly curled up, biting her lip and glaring at her with her foxlike eyes.
The scent grew stronger, the sweetness of strawberries seeming to saturate the alcohol until it stung Pei Jiuyao’s nose.
Pei Jiuyao walked over without thinking and braced herself against the edge of the bed. Her voice was so hoarse it scarcely sounded like her own as she asked softly, “Who are you?”
Perhaps she was some minor celebrity sent over by someone. Ever since Pei Jiuyao won Best Actress, there had always been people with powerful backing who wanted to pair themselves with her for publicity, but she had turned them all down.
Still, the woman before her was absolutely, completely her type.
But what did it mean to send her straight to her bed?
Pei Jiuyao had always looked down on such behavior, yet as she gazed at the woman before her, she couldn’t bring herself to be angry at all. She frowned and clenched her back teeth.
The scent was almost enough to make her lose her mind, and her body was growing hot against her will, as though she had been…
Pei Jiuyao’s voice grew hoarser and weaker. “Did you drug me?”
Dark clouds gathered outside the window. Suddenly, thunder roared, and a flash of lightning illuminated the disbelief in the woman’s eyes.
“Pei Jiuyao, what are you pretending for?!” The woman’s voice was soft and weak, but still cold and fierce.
Her utterly enchanting eyes glistened with moisture. Pei Jiuyao knew she had to leave, but when she turned around, her legs gave way, and she sank to her knees beside the bed.
Her shirt collar rubbed painfully against the back of her neck. Unable to suppress a soft groan, she unbuttoned the shirt and pushed it down to her wrists, then felt a small bump on the back of her neck and rubbed it with her fingers.
Suddenly, the woman on the bed let out a breathy gasp of arousal.
Pei Jiuyao looked up at her, her eyes red.
A damp patch had already spread across the sheet beneath the woman. She wore only a sheer white dress, and her nails scratched at her body indiscriminately, nearly tearing the dress to shreds and leaving several red marks on her snow-white skin.
Pei Jiuyao’s fingers trembled. She reached across the bed and pinned the woman’s hands down.
The warm, delicate touch traveled from her palms up her spine. Pei Jiuyao couldn’t help shivering, and something seemed to escape from the back of her neck.
The woman beneath her was trembling too, her body as soft as water. Her cool voice had taken on a breathy sweetness. “Pei Jiuyao, it really is you!”
It almost sounded as though she were being coquettish.
Pei Jiuyao hadn’t intended to touch the woman beneath her. She had only wanted to keep her from hurting herself, but for some reason, she instinctively lowered her head against the side of the woman’s neck.
Soft skin and the slight swell of bone brushed against her cheek, like a soft little animal. Instinctive desire made it hard for Pei Jiuyao to control herself, and she couldn’t resist brushing her lips against the delicate, fair skin of the woman’s neck.
The woman beneath her bit her lip and stiffened her neck. Her reddened lashes trembled as she struggled to move a fraction of an inch away. Pei Jiuyao paused, and a little of her reason returned.
She quickly pushed herself up, intending to leave at once, but a hand seized her wrist. Looking down, Pei Jiuyao saw long, slender fingers with pronounced knuckles wrapped around her wrist, trembling slightly. The knuckles were tense, and an intoxicating flush colored the woman’s cheeks.
Pei Jiuyao stared in surprise at the woman, whose gaze had grown hazy.
The woman looked into her eyes, her lower legs rubbing together involuntarily as her skin suddenly grew even redder. “Pei… Pei Jiuyao, I’ve differentiated into an Omega. Are you satisfied now?”
Her voice was so sweet and breathy it seemed ready to melt, but Pei Jiuyao didn’t quite understand what she meant.
“Wasn’t this what you wanted? You wanted to see me lose control, didn’t you? Now that I’m like this, where are you going? Are you going to let more people see that I’ve become an Omega and gone into heat beneath you?”
Pei Jiuyao’s sight and hearing were growing hazy. Blotches of light danced before her eyes, and the thunder sounded alternately near and far. Without even noticing it, she had grown canines, which she was slowly grinding together.
The woman beneath her stared at her slightly parted red lips and blinked her moist eyes. “You’re not allowed to go. I’ll let you mark me.”
“Mark?” Pei Jiuyao moved her lips and instinctively ran her tongue over her canines.
The word seemed to touch a desire deep in her soul, and all at once she found herself unable to leave. Her fingers slowly closed around the woman’s soft, weak hand, enfolding it in her long, strong grasp.
The woman turned slightly, exposing her slender, pale neck. In a cool voice tinged with breathy sweetness, she repeated, “Mark me.”
Pei Jiuyao placed one hand on her waist. The last of her reason vanished completely, and instinct won a crushing victory.
In a daze, she pressed the tips of her teeth to the spot filled with the scent of strawberry sparkling wine. As though she had slipped in a straw, she greedily sucked at the sweetness beneath the woman’s neck.
The skin was warm and smooth as jade. The body in her hands trembled, and broken moans escaped the woman’s lips.
The sound of sheer white fabric tearing was clearly audible.
Raindrops pattered against the window frame, and dim yellow lights flickered in the glass. A fire that could not be extinguished sprang to life, blending with the droplets into a mottled, luminous oil painting.
Outside, the rain gradually softened, making delicate sounds as it struck the leaves and window frame.
When Pei Jiuyao woke, her head still ached.
She looked at the woman in her arms. Her pale skin was covered in red marks and bite marks, and her body was curled up. Her eyes were tightly shut, her lashes trembling faintly like raven feathers.
Pei Jiuyao couldn’t help touching the marks on the woman’s body. A soft, tingling sensation traveled from her fingertips into her mind.
A set of memories that didn’t belong to her came flooding in at the same time.
Pei Jiuyao shuddered and quickly sat up.
She had actually transmigrated into a book, becoming a cannon-fodder supporting character in a girls’ love ABO novel called Tumi.
The supporting character happened to share Pei Jiuyao’s full name. She was written as one of the entertainment industry’s most popular stars—a pretty face with nothing else to offer, terrible acting skills, no sense of pitch, and a nasty personality.
In the book, this cannon-fodder scumbag Alpha was always at odds with the female lead, Chi Yang, and constantly tried to trip her up. But Chi Yang was beautiful and talented, had won awards early in her career, and didn’t take her seriously at all.
Furious, the scumbag Alpha drugged and permanently marked Chi Yang’s “fiancée,” Song Mo, just to disgust her. She also filmed Song Mo in a humiliating state and posted the video online, subjecting her to so much online abuse that Song Mo became depressed and died by suicide.
In the end, Chi Yang found a recording of the entire incident in which she had forced herself on Song Mo, then hired the best lawyer to put her in prison.
During her years in prison, Chi Yang deliberately used her power and influence to make arrangements. Pei Jiuyao was tortured beyond recognition, and in the end, someone cut out her gland, driving her insane.
Because the book had gone out of its way to vilify the cannon fodder “Pei Jiuyao,” Pei Jiuyao’s management company had even sent the original author a legal notice. Although nothing ultimately came of it, Pei Jiuyao had gone out of her way to read the book because of the incident.
Who would have thought she would now transmigrate into that very cannon-fodder character?!
Pei Jiuyao rubbed the space between her brows and stared at the woman still sleeping soundly beside her.
Could this be the Omega named Song Mo?
With a crisis at hand, transmigrating into a book was the least of her concerns. She had better figure out how to explain herself when the woman woke up. She couldn’t very well die here before she even made it back.
Pei Jiuyao glanced down at her bare upper body and decided to find something to wear first.
She slipped quietly out of bed, only to feel dizzy for a moment. After standing still until it passed, she picked up the clothes she had taken off the night before and washed up briefly.
Looking at the identical face in the mirror, she tried to think of an excuse.
A misunderstanding? She had been drugged? Or should she just pretend to have amnesia?
Anyway, last night… Song Mo had probably been the one to initiate it, right? As long as she didn’t post the video online, there would surely be less trouble later.
But no matter how she looked at it, she had still done something wrong. Even if she hadn’t known she had transmigrated at the time and had thought the woman had climbed into her bed of her own accord, she shouldn’t have so casually…
Pei Jiuyao pressed her lips together. Thinking about last night, she felt the tips of her ears grow warm.
“Thud—”
The muffled sound pulled Pei Jiuyao out of her thoughts. She hurried back.
The woman had evidently thought Pei Jiuyao had left. She froze when she saw her return, then quickly climbed back onto the bed and shrank beneath the covers, glaring at Pei Jiuyao with her long, narrow foxlike eyes.
Now that the redness had faded, her eyes were cool again, with a hint of ferocity.
Perhaps it was an Omega’s innate instinct to submit to an Alpha. Despite her fierce gaze, the woman still betrayed an almost imperceptible nervousness.
She looked like a little fox with its fur standing on end.
Knowing she was on the verge of “going mad,” Pei Jiuyao carefully adopted a conciliatory manner and asked gently, “You’re awake? Are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere?”
The woman’s lashes fluttered quickly. She pressed her lips together and asked with a hint of anger, “What do you mean by that?”
Pei Jiuyao paused. “I was just worried that last night you…”
“Do you think you can control me now that you’ve seen me become an Omega? Or are you planning to use the fact that you slept with me to threaten me?”
Pei Jiuyao rubbed the space between her brows helplessly. The original owner really had done some terrible things.
She tried to explain. “Miss Song… I…”
“Miss Song?” The woman on the bed, whom Pei Jiuyao had mistaken for Song Mo, looked at her even more coldly. “Were you planning to go after Xiao Mo?”
She wasn’t Song Mo? Pei Jiuyao couldn’t help taking a few steps forward.
The woman suddenly threw the phone from the bedside cabinet at her and shouted, “Get back!”
Startled, Pei Jiuyao hurriedly stepped back again.
She recalled how the main characters’ appearances had been described in the original book. The female lead, Chi Yang, whose looks had received the most attention, had a small vermilion mole below her left ear.
By the sunlight, Pei Jiuyao could see a red mole behind the woman’s ear as well. It glowed enticingly in the light, like a tiny fragment of a gem.
Pei Jiuyao ventured softly, “Chi Yang…”
The woman on the bed didn’t contradict her.
