After Transmigrating Into a Book, I Became That Omega - Chapter 5
Yu Feng scanned the seated students. “Does anyone want to volunteer to be the first to come up?”
The room fell into a moment of awkward silence. Sang Yuan looked around, stood up, and walked onto the podium in two steps. He gave Yu Feng a small nod and turned to face the class with a brilliant smile.
“Hello everyone, my name is Sang Yuan. I’m 18 years old, and I’m a Beta. I hope we can all get along well over the next four years.”
With Sang Yuan taking the lead, the other students began to go up one by one to introduce themselves. With only twenty students, the process moved quickly until only the two Omegas remained. All eyes turned toward them.
One of them cleared his throat and walked up with a haughty expression. It was the Omega emitting the scent of roses. “My name is Ning Beibei, and I’m an Omega.”
“As for me, I don’t have many requirements, except that I can’t stand smells. I hope that when you are in the classroom, you keep the air circulating; there must be no strange odors.”
“Students sitting near me must not have any sweat smell—it puts me in a bad mood. Even those sitting further away should keep yourselves clean. Don’t be slovenly; try to live with some refinement.”
Sang Yuan and Fang Yuandong looked at each other, both seeing the shock in the other’s eyes. What kind of bizarre speech is this? You want to control the weather, the earth, and now other people’s body chemistry?
As Ning Beibei continued to drone on about his taboos, Yu Feng couldn’t help but push up his glasses and give an embarrassed smile. “Uh… Student Ning Beibei, we’ve learned plenty. We can get to know the rest as we spend time together. Our schedule is a bit tight.”
With the counselor speaking up, Ning Beibei stopped, though he looked like he had more to say. Before stepping down, he added petulantly, “Oh dear, I didn’t even get to express myself properly today.”
The remaining Omega, Lin Chun, likely seeing that Ning Beibei had wasted too much time and that some students were getting annoyed, didn’t say much. He simply introduced himself and stepped down. Sang Yuan thought the name Lin Chun (Spring) suited his pheromones perfectly—they both carried the crisp scent of springtime.
“Now that everyone knows each other, are there any volunteers for class officers?” Yu Feng hurried to the next item on the agenda. He was truly afraid that if they delayed any longer, they wouldn’t finish until tomorrow.
Ning Beibei sat up straight, putting on an air of indifference, but his eyes were fixed intently on the counselor.
“If no one volunteers, we’ll go by entrance exam scores. These positions are temporary anyway; there will be chances to rotate later,” Yu Feng decided, cutting the Gordian knot when no one spoke up.
Ning Beibei rolled his eyes and leaned back against his desk with a huff.
Yu Feng pulled out a list containing the names and scores of the twenty students. “Let’s see… our top-ranked student, Sang Yuan. You’ll serve as the Class Monitor for now.”
Sang Yuan looked at Yu Feng in consternation. What? Did I hear that right? Were the original host’s grades that good? He was first in the Literature Department?
He suddenly felt a surge of pressure. Once classes actually started, it wouldn’t look good if the teachers found his grades had plummeted. Sang Yuan felt a massive headache coming on. His grades in his previous life hadn’t been bad, but he wasn’t sure if the curriculum in this book-world was the same as his own.
He stole a glance at the textbooks on the podium and felt the weight of the world on his shoulders.
The other officers were quickly chosen. Fang Yuandong was delighted to land the role of Study Representative.
“Monitor, take the other officers and distribute the books and uniforms,” Yu Feng instructed Sang Yuan before addressing the rest of the class. “Tomorrow at 7:00 AM sharp, gather at the athletic field. The Monitor will assist me in taking attendance.”
Yu Feng stood up. “Once you have your gear, go back and rest early. Monitor, come to my office after you’re finished.”
Yu Feng left the room in a whirlwind. The moment he was gone, the classroom erupted again.
“Oh my god, 7:00 AM? That’s so early, I’m going to be all bloated!” Ning Beibei wailed, cupping his face with a pout.
Sang Yuan glanced at him silently and began pulling the newly elected officers together to hand out the supplies. He had no idea what “bloated” was supposed to look like. He had been a “rough guy” since childhood; though his status had changed here, his face was still his own, and he couldn’t see any difference regarding bloat.
Waking up at seven was nothing to a fitness fanatic like him. Since taking over this body, he had been waking up at 5:30 AM every day to start his workout. By 7:00 AM, he had usually already finished exercising and was eating breakfast.
Once everything was handed out, Sang Yuan grabbed his own gear and tapped on the podium. “Gathering at 7:00 AM tomorrow. Don’t be late. I’ll ping everyone in the group chat. Go home and get some rest.”
After a quick nod to Fang Yuandong, Sang Yuan headed to Yu Feng’s office.
Knock, knock.
“Teacher Yu,” Sang Yuan said at the door.
The office was mostly empty, with only a few other counselors scattered about.
“Sang Yuan, come here.” Yu Feng motioned him over and pointed to a chair. “Have a seat.”
Sang Yuan sat down obediently. His soft, “moe” appearance made Yu Feng’s expression relax slightly.
“I called you here because of the two Omegas in our class.” Seeing Sang Yuan’s puzzled look, Yu Feng explained further. “As you know, Omegas are quite delicate. The upcoming month of military training will be very grueling.”
“Although the Omegas will have their own dedicated training formation, I’m still worried about their health. As Class Monitor, please keep a close eye on them for me. If anything happens, report it to me immediately.”
Sang Yuan nodded. “Understood, Teacher Yu. Don’t worry, I’ll keep an eye out.”
“Good. I’m counting on you to look after the class during this month,” Yu Feng said, pushing up his glasses. “We counselors can’t go with you. It’s going to be a hard month for you.”
Yu Feng wrote his phone number on a piece of paper and handed it to Sang Yuan. “Keep my number. Even though mobile phones aren’t allowed, there are landlines at the base. If something serious happens, remember to call me.”
“Okay.” Sang Yuan memorized the number with a single glance, but he still folded the paper and tucked it into his pocket.
“That’s all. Go back and get some rest. I’ll see you off to the base tomorrow, but then I have to return with the bus. I’m leaving things in your hands.” Yu Feng was very satisfied with Sang Yuan—good grades, obedient, and easy on the eyes.
“Then I’ll be going. Goodbye, Teacher Yu.” Sang Yuan took his leave and began the slow walk back to the dormitory.
