After Transmigrating into a Book, I Became the Vicious Female Supporting Lead - Chapter 15
Sun Li: “You forgot?” He swung his hand through the air as if he wanted to hit Lin Qiyan, but he restrained himself out of concern for the crowd. “Even so, you must get up there. Even if you have to make it up on the spot, you’re producing a self-reflection!”
Lin Qiyan was very obedient: “Okay, Teacher.”
Her sudden compliance left Sun Li’s next words stuck in his throat. The veins on his forehead throbbed. Just as he was about to speak, Ran Lie’s parents arrived with her in tow.
This had been arranged in advance: Sun Li had invited the Ran couple to attend the opening ceremony so that after Lin Qiyan finished reading her self-reflection on stage, they could publicly hand over a lawyer’s letter and a court summons.
Lin Qiyan, unaware of their plan, let her gaze wander toward the people in front of her, her thoughts drifting.
When she woke up this morning, Mu Yunge had vanished again. The middle-aged men in the alleyway had also disappeared without a trace—even the bloodstains on the ground seemed like nothing more than a dream she’d had. No one had discovered that a large man had died there.
Lin Qiyan looked away, her eyes landing on the giant screen behind the rostrum. Her hand rested in her pocket, rubbing the object inside.
As the sun climbed higher, the massive auditorium gradually fell silent. A male and a female host took the stage to introduce the school leaders seated in the front row one by one. Lin Qiyan sat at the very back; she couldn’t see the faces on stage clearly, but the male host’s voice sounded familiar—a refreshing breeze in the summer heat.
After a series of formalities, the student representative took the stage to speak. It was a tall girl. The moment she appeared, a low wave of suppressed gasps and commotion erupted below. Lin Qiyan looked up, but still couldn’t see clearly, so she went back to counting heads out of boredom. The auditorium seating was tiered; from her position, she could see the tops of the students’ heads perfectly.
Among the black hair, she saw patches of pale scalp. Some people were balding at such a young age. Lin Qiyan counted—about one or two out of every ten were like that.
At that moment, the student representative took the microphone from the male host. A voice like a clear spring wrapped in a faint electric current rippled through the hall.
“Teachers and students, hello everyone.”
Lin Qiyan immediately lifted her head, squinting to see. The girl on stage was unhurried, her tone melodious. Even a cliché speech sounded like a poem in her voice. The students, who had been whispering and fidgeting, grew quiet of their own accord.
The speech wasn’t long and ended quickly. Mu Yunge gave a slight bow and walked off the rostrum, handing the microphone to Mu Yunjing, who was standing nearby. The two exchanged a look, and Mu Yunjing gave a slight nod. He took the mic and stepped up to invite the leadership to speak.
Lin Qiyan sat up a bit straighter. This leader was the one who would announce her punishment on the spot, after which it would be her turn to read the self-reflection. Being made to read a self-reflection during the opening ceremony was a first for the school; it was an “honor” born entirely from Sun Li’s loathing for her.
The leader was a middle-aged man with a beer belly. His position at the school wasn’t particularly high; Sun Li was a subordinate he had personally promoted. He began with a very dull opening, his voice ruined by years of smoking and drinking, sounding as if he had phlegm stuck in his throat.
Lin Qiyan rubbed her ears.
Sun Li walked up behind her and cleared his throat. Seeing her turn around, he said coldly, “Come with me.”
She was led to the side-rear area of the rostrum, where quite a few people were gathered. Mu Yunjing was looking down at something, but sensing someone approaching, he looked up. Seeing Lin Qiyan, he curled his lips into a smile. Lin Qiyan had only met him once, yet his attitude was exceptionally friendly—logically, it shouldn’t be that way. Though puzzled, she politely returned the smile.
Sun Li didn’t notice their interaction, but due to his fear of the Mu family and Mu Yunjing’s words from two days ago, he kept his voice low despite the backstage noise: “In a moment, Director Sun will announce your punishment. You’ll go straight up to read your self-reflection.”
And then the Ran family will hand over the court summons and lawyer’s letter at the perfect moment, he thought. He didn’t say the last part out loud; a person’s initial reaction and visible fear were the most valuable forms of compensation.
Lin Qiyan nodded obediently.
Mu Yunjing glanced over a few times. The girl beside him followed his gaze and asked curiously, “What’s wrong?”
Mu Yunjing smiled, revealing a dimple on one side. “Nothing.”
Director Sun’s speech ended quickly. Looking at the sea of students below, the casual expression on his face vanished, replaced by a serious one. “Students, the school is a harmonious and loving family. As a top-tier high school in Yanjing, Yanda Affiliated High School must firmly create and maintain this atmosphere so that everyone can study and live better. However, a case of school bullying has recently surfaced, which has seriously damaged our campus environment.”
He paused, his gaze sweeping over the students sitting upright. The row of leaders below was baffled by this sudden turn in the speech, but out of concern for the administration’s public image, no one stepped in to stop him.
Seeing that the crowd was cowed, Director Sun felt a surge of pride. His face radiated righteous indignation. “Therefore, I must severely criticize a student: Lin Qiyan from Class 2-15. She publicly bullied a classmate and disrespected her teacher. Despite multiple warnings, there was no improvement, and her homeroom teacher was left helpless. The matter was reported to the Academic Affairs Office, and we have been forced to issue a formal demerit. We hope Student Lin can learn from this and repent in time.”
A wave of jeers immediately broke out below.
Watching from behind, Lin Qiyan felt like clapping for the performance. Mu Yunjing, who knew the “script,” looked over at her, but he was slightly surprised to see her calm, unruffled expression. The leaders in front of the rostrum looked at each other and frowned; even if they were dissatisfied with Director Sun’s methods, they didn’t say anything.
Director Sun, having enjoyed the spotlight enough, cleared his throat. “Now, we invite Student Lin to the stage to reflect on her behavior and repent.”
He stepped down.
Behind the scenes, Sun Li thought about what was coming next and felt entirely refreshed. Even his tone improved significantly: “Go on up. Think carefully about what you’re going to say.”
As Lin Qiyan stepped toward the entrance, Mu Yunjing stopped her. He handed her the microphone and smiled. “Don’t worry. Yunge has prepared everything.”
Lin Qiyan’s footsteps faltered. She gave him a confused look.
The lights on the rostrum were very bright. Standing there, Lin Qiyan could only see a sea of people below—everyone looked like they were waiting for a good show.
Lin Qiyan checked to make sure the microphone was working. Looking at the gloating classmates below, she spoke gently:
“I did not bully Student Ran Lie. This punishment is unreasonable. I do not accept it.”
