After Transmigrating into a Book, I Became the Vicious Female Supporting Lead - Chapter 26
Aside from that very first day when Ran Lie gave an arrogant snort, she basically ignored Lin Qiyan. However, after seeing Xia Yiran show kindness to Lin Qiyan twice, her attitude softened. Occasionally, when Lin Qiyan was being isolated by the class, she would even awkwardly step in to resolve the situation.
For instance, Lin Qiyan went to turn in her homework to the academic representative. She called out twice, but the girl kept her head down, acting as if she hadn’t heard—it had been the same way last time. Back then, Lin Qiyan had left the homework in a visible, out-of-the-way spot, only for the teacher to call her out in class again for “failing to submit.”
This time, Lin Qiyan specifically waited a bit longer, but the girl still showed no sign of looking up; she even looked like she wanted to stand up and leave.
Lin Qiyan frowned, but before she could speak, another voice beat her to it.
“Are some people blind? Someone is standing right in front of you and you just keep your head down. What, is she so dazzling you’re afraid she’ll blind your titanium-alloy dog eyes? You’re old enough to stop playing these games. Your brain must be connected to your small intestine—all you do is cause petty trouble.”
The girl’s face flushed red then turned pale, but she didn’t dare say anything back. She sat back down and said at high speed, “Just leave it here.”
Lin Qiyan placed the notebook in front of her, her voice gentle: “Please make sure to collect it, academic rep. I don’t want to be called out again.”
The girl looked up at her, and Lin Qiyan gave her a smile. As she walked back, she caught Ran Lie’s eye; the latter huffed at her and turned away.
Lin Qiyan: “…”
Fortunately, from that point on, the academic rep stopped targeting her.
In the evening, as Lin Qiyan was nearing the end of her shift at the milk tea shop, the two boys finally showed up. Nan Dan’s eyes lit up, and the three of them huddled together, whispering.
Wei Pu: “Can she really make milk tea?”
Nan Dan gave him a look: “Then what are you drinking right now?”
Wei Pu was shocked: “What? She made this?” He took another sip and praised calmly, “It’s actually pretty good.”
Shang Chichi: “Aren’t you afraid of being poisoned?”
Wei Pu was indifferent to life and death: “I’ve already drunk it. Does it make much of a difference now?”
Nan Dan nodded: “Makes sense.” He took a sip of his own tea.
Wei Pu: “Why are we here again?”
Shang Chichi: “To save face for our ‘son’.”
Nan Dan: “…” He checked the clock. “Logically they should be here by now. Why hasn’t she arrived?”
Wei Pu stifled a yawn and criticized him casually: “An unfilial son deceiving his parents.”
Nan Dan: “…I’m not lying. Really. A few nights ago at this exact time, the two of them were sitting right where we are.”
Shang Chichi: “Is the surveillance in your shop just a decoration?”
Nan Dan punched his right hand into his left palm in realization: “Oh yeah!”
Wei Pu looked at Shang Chichi silently: “Let’s try for a second child. this one is a lost cause.”
Shang Chichi: “…Piss off.”
They weren’t far from the bar, and since the three weren’t exactly trying to keep their voices down, Lin Qiyan heard everything. She now had a brand-new understanding of their “parent-child” dynamic.
On the other side, Tang Ziqian was walking home with Mu Yunge. “Seriously, I still don’t know what your view on Lin Qiyan is. Why are you being so good to her?”
Mu Yunge said dryly: “It’s fun.”
Tang Ziqian: “…”
“I know you. Since when did you start playing the ‘frivolous playboy’ routine?”
Mu Yunge didn’t answer.
Tang Ziqian paused. “Are you for real?” She shook her head. “Yunge, you’ve fallen. Who was it that so coldly rejected every Omega? And now you’re so proactive about caring for someone just because you want to ‘play’? Why don’t you just go find one of those people you rejected…”
Mu Yunge made a gesture: “Pheromones.”
Tang Ziqian froze.
The higher the Alpha’s grade, the heavier the pressure they exert, and the deeper the backlash of the rut. Only a high-grade Omega with a certain compatibility standard can soothe them. But according to the last census, the ABO ratio in the population is 3:6:1. High-grade Alphas only make up about 0.002%, while high-grade Omegas are a mere 0.0001%.
This explained why the usually cold Mu Yunge was taking such good care of Lin Qiyan.
Tang Ziqian mused for a moment: “Does Lin Qiyan not know?”
Mu Yunge glanced at her.
Tang Ziqian suddenly felt a bit of pity for Lin Qiyan.
However, if someone with ill intentions found out, it would inevitably become a fatal weakness. This wouldn’t be good for the Mu family or for Lin Qiyan herself. Mu Yunge keeping it from her was justifiable. Sometimes, knowing nothing is safer. Tang Ziqian took a deep breath, dropping her usual flighty act, her brow furrowed.
But no matter how you dress it up, you can’t hide that this is a one-sided deception and utilization. Essentially, it only proved one thing—
Mu Yunge has never trusted Lin Qiyan.
Lin Qiyan finished her shift, said goodbye to the owner, and greeted the three boys who were still chatting happily. Wei Pu and Shang Chichi exchanged a look. Nan Dan was used to it and even waved goodbye. The shock in the other two’s eyes grew even wider.
Lin Qiyan crossed the night market, turned through the alley, and reached her rental apartment. The room was exactly as she left it, but since someone had been there a few days ago, the sudden quiet felt a bit strange. Lin Qiyan rubbed her nose.
The next day was no different, except it was nearing the weekend. She went to the milk tea shop after class.
Nan Yu smiled at her: “Qiyan, I have some business tomorrow, so I’m closing for a day.”
Lin Qiyan nodded. She didn’t ask questions; it was someone else’s family matter after all.
However, as she walked out of the shop, she saw a familiar figure. The person walked over from under a tree when they saw her.
Lin Qiyan was confused: “Yunge, did you have another conflict with your family?”
Mu Yunge lowered her eyelashes, her voice very soft: “They told me to get out. Yan Yan, I have nowhere to go.”
The night breeze was slightly cool. Lin Qiyan was startled.
[Telling her to ‘get out’ directly? That’s a bit much.]
“Yunge.”
Mu Yunge looked up. The person in front of her grabbed her hand. For a split second, she felt an impulse to snap that wrist, but her logic took over and she only shifted slightly. The next second, a cold object was placed in her palm.
Mu Yunge looked down, a hint of genuine surprise on her face as her internal suspicion spread wildly. It was a key. The key to Lin Qiyan’s apartment.
Lin Qiyan smiled at her: “Yunge, if you ever have nowhere to go, you can come to my place. With this key, you won’t have to wait outside next time I’m not home.”
Mu Yunge didn’t move. She gazed quietly at Lin Qiyan: “You trust me that much?”
Lin Qiyan laughed: “I do. With such a vast gap between us, I can’t imagine what you’d have to plot against me for. Besides, you’ve helped me so much—it’s just a place to stay.”
[And you’re the only friend I have in this world where I’m all alone, the first person to show me kindness.]
Mu Yunge’s eyes darkened. The smile curving her lips did not reach her eyes.
“Thank you, Yan Yan.”
