After Transmigrating into a Book, I Became the Vicious Female Supporting Lead - Chapter 25
In the morning, Lin Qiyan was still the first to wake up, and she immediately silenced the alarm.
Mu Yunge’s brow furrowed slightly as she sat up in a half-awake state, watching Lin Qiyan change her clothes. With the glands on the back of Lin Qiyan’s neck fully exposed, Mu Yunge breathed in the fresh scent of Milan flowers, and her drowsiness dissipated a little.
By the time Lin Qiyan had finished cooking, Mu Yunge was also ready. Lin Qiyan noticed that she didn’t look as listless as she did yesterday.
Curious, she asked, “Yunge, do you only need to take one suppressant during the rut?”
Mu Yunge’s lips curled up slightly, her voice carrying a hint of a smile. “If it’s severe, a few more. If not, one is enough.” Her gaze flickered over the back of Lin Qiyan’s neck, and she winked. “It also depends on the effectiveness of the medicine.”
Lin Qiyan understood. “I see.” She stirred her porridge with a spoon, her mind wandering.
[Is the heat similar to the rut? If it just makes me sleepy like Yunge, then that’s not too bad.]
Mu Yunge’s eyelashes remained lowered.
It had rained two days ago, but it only stayed cool for a short while; now, the weather was turning scorching hot again. When Lin Qiyan arrived at class, she found the girl from the front row already in her seat. A bottle of milk had been placed on Lin Qiyan’s desk.
Glancing at her neighbor’s hands, which were nervously clutching the hem of her shirt, Lin Qiyan tapped the girl’s back with her pen. The girl jumped instantly, as if Lin Qiyan had poked a vital pressure point.
However, she did at least turn around.
For the first time, Lin Qiyan saw her face clearly. The eyes hidden behind the lenses and hair were very beautiful—round, bright, and moist, with down-turned corners. Realizing she was being stared at, the girl lowered her head and asked in a tiny voice, “W-what is it?”
Lin Qiyan snapped out of it with a slight sense of apology. “There’s no need to be so formal. I already thanked you last night; it wasn’t a big deal. You should take the milk back.”
The girl pursed her lips. Perhaps sensing that Lin Qiyan had been well-behaved for several days, she rarely went against her words, shaking her head very slightly. “B-bought it… can’t return…” Having said that, she turned back around, her chest pressed tightly against the edge of the desk in a defensive posture.
Lin Qiyan: “…”
Should I say she’s scared or actually quite brave?
Across the aisle, Xia Yiran was fiddling with his phone, seemingly unaware of anything else. Ran Lie edged over from the other side. “Brother…”
Xia Yiran acted as if he hadn’t heard a thing, offering no reaction whatsoever. Lin Qiyan pulled out her exercises as usual, her eyes secretly stealing glances at them. Ran Lie wanted to say more, but Xia Yiran stood up abruptly and walked out the back door.
Ran Lie stood there helplessly until the bell rang, then she headed back to her seat dejectedly. Only then did Xia Yiran leisurely return to the room. He paused beside Lin Qiyan and said stiffly, “You dropped your eraser.”
Lin Qiyan looked down and found a black object by her feet. She leaned over to pick it up. “Thanks.”
Xia Yiran gave a quick nod and walked back to his seat, his silhouette radiating a “don’t mess with me” vibe.
At noon, Mu Yunge messaged Lin Qiyan on WeChat to meet in the office building. As soon as she entered, she smelled the aroma of food. Tang Ziqian was setting the table, and Mu Yunge brought over the bowls and chopsticks.
Hearing her enter, both looked over. Tang Ziqian: “Oho!”
Mu Yunge: “Yan Yan, sit. We can start eating.”
Tang Ziqian shot her a side-eye, her face practically screaming: You scumbag.
During the meal, Lin Qiyan mentioned the interaction between Ran Lie and Xia Yiran she’d seen that morning.
Tang Ziqian: “Is Ran Lie trying to get Xia Yiran to save her mother?”
Lin Qiyan thought for a moment and shook her head. “It didn’t really look like that. It seemed like she just wanted to restore their sibling relationship.”
Tang Ziqian took a bite of meat and replied dismissively, “She still has family feelings in her heart?”
Mu Yunge ladled a bowl of soup and placed it by Lin Qiyan’s hand.
Lin Qiyan: “Thanks, Yunge.”
Tang Ziqian pushed her own bowl over, looking at her expectantly. Mu Yunge simply picked up her water glass and took a calm, composed sip.
Tang Ziqian: “…”
Double standards.
Lin Qiyan continued the previous topic: “Family feelings?”
Tang Ziqian ladled her own soup and blurted out habitually, “It can’t be romantic love, right?”
Lin Qiyan: “???”
Mu Yunge shot her a look. After saying it, Tang Ziqian couldn’t help but shudder at her own words.
Lin Qiyan: “It’s a male Omega and a female Alpha, after all.”
Tang Ziqian picked up a piece of green vegetable. “What, do you have a prejudice?”
Lin Qiyan: “Not exactly…”
Tang Ziqian added casually, “That pairing is actually quite common. You must have some around you too.”
Mu Yunge’s lips curled.
The “outsider” Lin Qiyan: “…”
Actually, I really don’t.
Lin Qiyan left first after lunch. Mu Yunge stayed behind, sitting on the sofa with her head resting on her hand and her eyes closed. Tang Ziqian sat down with a fruit plate. “Yunge, what exactly is the deal with that Lin Qiyan?”
Mu Yunge opened her eyes, her expression neutral. “What do you mean.”
Tang Ziqian could tell she didn’t want to talk. Despite their years of friendship, there were many things about Mu Yunge she couldn’t see through.
When Lin Qiyan returned to the classroom, it was relatively quiet. Only a few boys were talking—the usual crowd.
Nan Dan: “Seriously, believe me. Every night those two show up to wait for her, and then the three of them leave together.”
Wei Pu looked at him with concern. “Son, have you not been sleeping well?” He was a petty one and hadn’t forgotten the time this guy made him call him “Daddy.”
Shang Chichi laughed beside them.
Nan Dan: “…Can we have a normal conversation?”
Wei Pu said affectionately, “We can, of course we can.”
Nan Dan waved his hand, exhausted. “Forget it. If you don’t believe me, come with me to the shop tonight and see for yourselves.”
Shang Chichi: “See who? Lin Qiyan?”
“I’m busy.”
Wei Pu immediately followed up: “If your ‘mother’ is busy, then ‘Daddy’ isn’t going either.”
Shang Chichi was speechless. “Get lost.”
Wei Pu teased him with a grin. Driven by a competitive spirit and an intense urge to share the secret, Nan Dan called out humiliatingly, “Mom, Dad, I’m begging you. Please go.”
Wei Pu’s mouth hung open in surprise. He turned and patted the person next to him. “Our son said so. Let’s go.”
Shang Chichi hit his limit. “Both of you, get lost!”
Lin Qiyan: “…”
She pretended to be deaf.
