After Transmigrating Into A Scum Alpha, I Fell In Love With Her Wife - Chapter 1
“In this world, is there really not a single person you care about anymore?”
The woman’s lovely eyes were filled with disbelief, and her lips trembled.
“One two three, three two one, three four five six seven.”
“You are simply an unreasonable lunatic!”
Her emotions teetered on the edge of collapse, her face almost contorting with anger.
“Six six six, five four three two one.”
“Cut.”
“Good, this take is cleared. Thank you for your hard work, everyone.”
“That’s a wrap—”
The moment wrap was called, the set immediately burst into noisy activity.
The assistant hurried over with two cups of warm water, first respectfully handing one to Shen Li, then stuffing the other into the hands of the woman whose tears had already spilled from her eyes.
Jiang Yue was wearing a thin dress, her nearly frozen hands cupped around the warm water.
She quickly wiped away her tears, took two sips through the straw, and, not caring at all about the people coming and going around the set, leaned closer to Shen Li as she spoke.
“Teacher Shen, actually, even when you’re saying numbers, you make them sound especially charming.”
Before Shen Li could react, Jiang Yue twisted her body and moved even closer, her head almost resting on Shen Li’s shoulder. Her tone turned winding and suggestive.
“Teacher Shen, tonight… are you still free?”
Shen Li was wearing a thick wool coat lined with plush fur, and the chill on set had no effect on her at all.
Without changing expression, she took half a step back. Her thumb and middle finger held the rim of the cup, while her slender index finger tapped against the lid. She glanced back at Jiang Yue.
“Free to do what? Work overtime and rehearse lines?”
“…”
When she turned back, her hair swayed lightly, bringing with it a faint, clean mint scent.
A pair of delicate brown peach-blossom eyes held a glimmering light. Her jawline was refined and crisp, and the red on her lips looked even more vivid in the winter air.
The young assistant almost stared herself silly on the spot. Jiang Yue had naturally smelled that fresh scent too, and she raised a hand somewhat uncomfortably to the back of her neck, her expression changing slightly.
“After work, just rest properly. Don’t be so competitive.”
“I’m leaving.”
Shen Li turned around with easy grace and strode away, leaving only that crisp mint fragrance behind.
Jiang Yue and the young assistant watched her retreating figure together. At 173 centimeters tall, she looked long-limbed and upright in high heels, her head of red-brown waves dazzling under the sunlight.
The hem of her white coat lifted slightly with each step, every movement carrying a clean, rhythmic sharpness.
“Is she insane?!”
Jiang Yue frowned tightly and cursed in confusion.
“What are you looking at? Do you want to get lost and become her assistant?”
Jiang Yue glared fiercely at the little assistant beside her, who still looked entranced. Then she turned back toward the direction Shen Li had left, pinched her nose, and waved her hand through the air.
“She’s seriously choking me to death. Didn’t you smell that stink?”
The little assistant visibly shrank under her gaze. After pausing for two seconds, she still forced herself to answer softly.
“No…”
Jiang Yue’s eye-roll became even more obvious, and her tone was openly mocking.
“Oh, I forgot again. You’re a Beta who can’t smell pheromones.”
Jiang Yue lifted her chin toward the direction Shen Li had gone.
“Then I’ll tell you. That woman’s pheromones stink. They’re so bad that no Omega would ever want to get close to her.”
Inside the celebrity van, Shen Li lay reclined in her seat, a pair of oversized sunglasses perched on her small face. Her legs were crossed, and she lazily swung one foot in a slipper, letting her manager’s words go in one ear and out the other.
Three hours ago, she had still been on her way to attend an awards ceremony.
At fifteen, she had been discovered by a talent scout. As soon as she debuted, she shot to popularity on the strength of her astonishing beauty and acting talent, carving out a path for Alphas in an industry monopolized by Omegas.
For seven years, she had worked diligently, with zero scandals and zero black material. She was either filming or rushing to another job, suppressing every major illness and minor ache with all kinds of medication.
The only thing people could attack her for was her identity as an orphan.
In five years, she had won awards big and small across the board. After tonight, she would have become the deserved Best Actress winner of the three major golden awards.
Yet it had happened precisely at this moment.
She had died suddenly.
The celebrity van sped across the elevated road, carrying her closer and closer to the lifetime honor she had worked toward, while her own heartbeat grew slower with every beat.
After her heart stopped completely, Shen Li saw the world after her death flash before her like a revolving lantern.
Her die-hard fans were devastated. Passersby stopped and sighed in regret. Major directors and actors she had worked with choked up one after another.
The rival marketing accounts that usually blackened her name changed tune overnight, pairing sentimental music with captions like, “Your life was as brilliant and dazzling as a shooting star.”
Her company chose a new person to push. The endorsements tied to her were divided up cleanly in less than a week. The unreleased drama that had not yet aired was replaced in the schedule by a new traffic-star drama.
Later still, even the once-lively super topic square gradually fell silent.
In the night, massive advertising posters slid down one after another, and Shen Li felt an emptiness that came from the depths of her soul.
She did not come from a good background. Her inferiority complex was tangled with her pride, and she had always wanted to prove herself to everyone, even at the cost of her health.
She had fought for seven years, and her manager had fought alongside her for seven years.
At the worst of it, Shen Li had not even approved her manager’s bereavement leave when a family member passed away.
Shen Li had promised her that after winning this award, she would take her to an island for a vacation and go chasing the whales she had always longed to see.
None of it could ever be realized again.
When she opened her eyes again, Shen Li found herself on a film set, her mouth uncontrollably spitting out strings of numbers.
She had transmigrated into a book.
Previously, in order to film a wife-chasing crematorium scene, she had looked up a lot of old-school yuri novels to study.
Those novels basically all followed the same formula. The shou would be abused until both body and heart were damaged. Shen Li would read until she was furious, only for everything to circle back in the end with one sentence—“It was all a misunderstanding”—and then, “Of course I choose to forgive her.”
Only one book was different.
In that book, after the original shou, Sheng Xing, discovered the scum Alpha’s true colors, she decisively changed love interests. In the end, she took brutal revenge on the scum Alpha and sent her to prison.
Sheng Xing’s moves were so satisfying they made Shen Li’s scalp tingle. She admired Sheng Xing’s character to the extreme and wished she could meet this paper person in the flesh.
The good news was that she had indeed transmigrated into this book.
The bad news was that she was Sheng Xing’s scummy ex-wife with the same name—Shen Li.
A vase with terrible character, awful acting skills, and enough money to buy her way into productions.
“Director Zhang made an exception and gave you an audition opportunity for his new script. Next month, I’ll arrange—”
“I’m not taking it.”
Shen Li spoke up, cutting off Xia Ran, the manager who had been chattering beside her.
Xia Ran froze for a moment, as if doubting her own ears.
“What?”
“I’m not taking the new script. Work, advertisements—push everything that can be pushed.”
“What do you mean? Did… did something happen?”
Xia Ran looked nervously at the person in front of her.
Shen Li reached out, raised the seat she had been lying back on, and took off her sunglasses. Those breathtakingly beautiful eyes blinked slowly as she gazed faintly at Xia Ran.
“Manager, have you ever watched ninety-nine sunsets on an island?”
“?”
“Have you ever seen pods of whales in Kamchatka?”
“?”
“Have you ever seen the dancing aurora in Tromsø?”
“?”
“Manager, let’s take a vacation. Push all the work away.”
Xia Ran looked into Shen Li’s eyes, her expression complicated. The corner of her mouth moved.
“Shen Li, have you seen a doctor?”
The celebrity van drove all the way from south to north, heading straight toward the top luxury villa district in the suburbs of City A.
At first, Xia Ran thought Shen Li was joking, but throughout the nearly three-hour drive, Shen Li showed no sign of changing her mind.
Her mind was in utter chaos. Even when the car reached Shen Li’s house, she could only wordlessly watch her get out with carefree grace.
Shen Li waved a hand, giving Xia Ran enough time to think.
Only when a person truly faced death would they realize their regrets.
She had already experienced the life of a model-worker Best Actress. Since heaven had given her a chance to live again, there were only two words in Shen Li’s mind at this moment:
Lie flat.
Of course, the prerequisite was that she had to be able to lie down safely.
Shen Li did not have any of the original owner’s memories. After feeling Xia Ran out for a while, she learned that “she” had now been married to Sheng Xing for a year.
Shen Li and Sheng Xing had attended the same university, one year apart.
As an Alpha, Shen Li had, by chance, rescued Sheng Xing on campus right after Sheng Xing had undergone secondary differentiation into an Omega.
When she sent Sheng Xing to the hospital, she happened to do a genetic test as well. Their match rate was 98%.
Extremely rare.
Not long after that, Sheng Xing went abroad to study.
By the time Shen Li graduated from university, she had spent a year struggling in the entertainment industry and had been battered black and blue. Then Sheng Xing suddenly came to her and asked whether she was willing to try dating with marriage as the goal.
With the Sheng family’s background and financial power, Shen Li could not compare even if she filmed dramas for ten lifetimes.
After only one night of consideration, she latched onto Sheng Xing’s golden thigh.
From then on, she opened a studio, bought her way into productions, acted like a diva despite being small fry, and eventually even said only numbers instead of her lines.
Three months after they married, Sheng Xing went abroad again to manage the company.
Not long after that, Shen Li was repeatedly exposed for intimate behavior with other women.
Every single time, it was no different from a hard slap across Sheng Xing’s face—and even the face of the Sheng family’s corporation.
Yet every time, she would act innocent and play all kinds of emotional cards to soften Sheng Xing’s heart.
This dog-blood marriage lasted for two full years.
Two years later, Sheng Xing came to her senses. Shen Li reaped what she had sown: her acting career ended, her glands were permanently damaged, and she was sent to prison.
Shen Li could not help but feel a chill run through her entire body.
Her thoughts came to a halt for the time being. Shen Li walked to the front door, pressed her finger against the lock, and with a click, the door opened.
A faint scent of gardenias curled into her nose.
Shen Li’s fingers suddenly paused.
She changed into the slippers by the door and turned back. Under the dim light of the living room sat a woman dressed in a high-end black office-lady suit.
She had not taken off her high heels. The red-soled stilettos pressed directly into the long-pile carpet.
Her two long, slender legs were crossed. The buttons of her suit outlined a narrow waist, and the slightly raised collar of her white shirt made her fair chin look even more delicate.
A head of straight, jet-black hair fell behind her. Her pale face was flawless, her nose small and straight. Only those beautiful round eyes revealed an exhaustion that could not be hidden.
The gardenia fragrance continued to linger at the tip of Shen Li’s nose. The moment she clearly saw the woman’s appearance, Shen Li felt her heart suddenly pound hard twice.
Sheng Xing.
Even though she had undergone secondary differentiation, she was still an S+ Omega.
And right now, she had appeared before Shen Li just like this.
Shen Li did not know how long she paused. After a brief meeting of their gazes, she silently began to bring out her professional skill.
Shen Li lightly cleared her throat, and a melodious, pleasant voice flowed from it.
“You’re back, wife. Why didn’t you turn on the lights?”
Shen Li casually switched on the main chandelier in the living room.
Sheng Xing’s deep eyes never left Shen Li. After a moment, her pale bean-paste-red lips parted slightly, her voice like ice.
“What did you call me?”
Shen Li silently drew in a breath and took a few steps forward.
“What’s wrong? Ah Xing?”
The next second, Sheng Xing raised her hand, and a stack of photos was thrown heavily onto the table.
That eye-catching flash of red in the photos was all her.
And there were all kinds of different women too.
There was one of her intimately hugging a woman around the waist while catching plushies, one of her feeding someone ice cream, one of her holding hands with someone while shopping at a luxury store.
The photo on top was, astonishingly, of the actress from her cast whom she had just met—Jiang Yue.
Shen Li was holding Jiang Yue as they entered a hotel room.
Shen Li withdrew her gaze and looked at Sheng Xing. Sheng Xing had her head tilted up, her fair face completely bloodless, the exhaustion in her dark eyes even heavier, her delicate lips trembling softly—
as if she were waiting for Shen Li’s explanation,
and yet also afraid of her explanation.
Almost at the same time Shen Li was about to speak, Sheng Xing’s voice came.
“Shen Li, let’s get divorced.”
