After Transmigrating Into A Scum Alpha, I Fell In Love With Her Wife - Chapter 4
Shen Li was awakened by the scent of gardenias.
In her dream, she was walking through a pure-white cluster of gardenias. The flower branches swayed gracefully, wrapped in a mist-like veil, and at the end, one gardenia bloomed especially tall and clear.
Dew gathered along the edges of its petals. When the wind passed, they trembled faintly.
She could not help wanting to bend down and smell that fragrance.
Before she could touch that damp, glistening white, a soft itch first landed against her lips.
She opened her eyes.
The woman was pillowing her arm, her breathing calm and even.
Shen Li instantly wanted to pull her hand back, but after steadying herself, she held back the instinctive movement.
Sheng Xing was sleeping soundly beside her. A few strands of black hair lay across her face, her porcelain-white skin delicate and smooth, her long lashes naturally lowered.
The blanket had been restlessly twisted beneath her legs, and her nightdress barely covered the top of her thighs.
Shen Li carefully raised her head and looked at the gland on the back of Sheng Xing’s neck.
That abnormal redness and swelling had already faded.
Only an ambiguous bite mark remained.
She still had not controlled her strength very well.
Looking at the mark on that sensitive spot and feeling Sheng Xing’s warm breath, Shen Li felt a faint heat rise in her chest.
Perhaps Sheng Xing sensed Shen Li’s movement, because she shifted too. Her body leaned forward, and she mumbled something under her breath before directly burying her face in Shen Li’s neck.
Shen Li’s heartbeat abruptly quickened.
After feeling the softness in her arms for a moment, she gently pulled her arm free and let Sheng Xing lie flat on the bed.
Shen Li got up, hooked the blanket with her fingertips, and covered Sheng Xing neatly with it. Then she rose and left the bedroom.
Shen Li returned to her own bedroom and opened the curtains. After a night of snow, everything outside had turned into a clean expanse of white.
She opened her phone.
9:20.
It felt like it had been a very long time since she had slept this late.
After marking Sheng Xing last night, Sheng Xing had gradually settled down. Only her two arms and two long legs had tightly wrapped around Shen Li, clinging to her like an octopus and refusing to get off.
Until later, when she had slowly fallen asleep.
Shen Li had held her for the entire night, watching her condition at every moment.
Sitting in front of the mirror, Shen Li pulled open the collar where Sheng Xing had torn off one button. There, by her collarbone, were two distinct red marks.
Last night, after being temporarily marked, Sheng Xing’s hatred for Shen Li and her haze of desire had tangled together. The heat all over her body had turned into incoherent muttering, and she had mumbled, “I want to bite you too.”
She had bitten her back.
Shen Li touched the two marks with her fingers and smiled somewhat helplessly.
In her previous life, she had been famously known as a cold and aloof movie queen, someone with a strong sense of boundaries.
Once, after a dinner gathering, an investor had pretended to be drunk and put an inappropriate Omega hand around Shen Li’s waist. Shen Li had directly twisted that arm behind them until it dislocated.
At the Galaxy Ceremony, a young female staff member lost her footing and fell into Shen Li’s arms. After Shen Li glanced at her, the girl mentally spiraled for several days before publicly apologizing on Weibo.
After a few such incidents, no one dared have any out-of-line physical contact with her again.
Yet last night, she had been “bitten” by an Omega.
Shen Li showered, did her skincare, and dried her hair. The lingering fragrance of gardenias still remained on her body.
She changed into a white turtleneck sweater and black wool trousers, then went downstairs and sat on the living room sofa to send Xia Ran a message.
[Help me book an appointment with the pheromone department this afternoon, thank you.]
Xia Ran’s reply came very quickly:
[Are you really going? Or is this an excuse to ask for leave…]
[Really going.]
[What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?]
[Routine checkup.]
Xia Ran probably did not quite believe her, but she did not waste words either. In a few quick moves, she booked an appointment at a private hospital and arranged to drive over to pick her up later.
[Any other matters?]
Shen Li rubbed her phone, the thought of asking Xia Ran to contact a lawyer rising and sinking in her mind. In the end, she gave up.
She and Sheng Xing had no children. A divorce lawsuit would ultimately come down to one word: money.
Shen Li had cheated Sheng Xing out of far too much money. Whatever Sheng Xing wanted, Shen Li would already be thanking the heavens if she could pay it all back.
Shen Li browsed on her phone for a while longer, until footsteps sounded from the stairs.
She looked up. Sheng Xing had changed into a pale purple sleeping robe, the belt around her slender waist tied tight, almost not revealing a single inch of skin.
Her thick black hair fell behind her like silk. Perhaps because she had not slept well, there were faint dark circles beneath her round eyes, but her complexion was much better than yesterday’s pallor.
There was even an uncontrollable flush of pink.
Even with a cold bare face untouched by makeup, she was still so beautiful that Shen Li’s gaze paused for a moment.
When Sheng Xing saw Shen Li, her eyes instantly filled with furious brightness, and she strode straight toward her.
Shen Li came back to herself and immediately predicted Sheng Xing’s movement. One step ahead of her, she picked up the glass cup and leaned her upper body back out of the way.
Sheng Xing lunged at empty air and nearly fell onto Shen Li again. Luckily, Shen Li helped steady her, and only then did she sit firmly on the sofa.
Because of her own movement, Sheng Xing grew somewhat embarrassed, and her face turned even redder.
She bit her lip. The arm Shen Li was holding struggled hard, and she still made as if to snatch the cup.
Shen Li held the cup a little farther away and used slightly more strength to grip Sheng Xing’s arm.
“Miss Sheng.”
The cold, polite address came from Shen Li’s mouth, and Sheng Xing seemed to sober instantly.
She stopped moving, her tone somewhat mocking.
“What did you call me?”
“Miss Sheng.”
Shen Li looked into Sheng Xing’s eyes and repeated it.
“Shall we talk calmly?”
Shen Li made a “please sit” gesture.
Sheng Xing no longer entangled with her. She gave a cold laugh and walked over on her own to sit on the sofa opposite Shen Li.
“Talk about what? About how my chronically cheating wife used such a despicable method to make me go into heat on the night before our divorce?”
“Or about how you plan to use this temporary mark as leverage to force me not to divorce you?”
“Shen Li, this unfamiliar act of yours only makes you seem even more despicable.”
The clean scent of mint and the fragrance of gardenias were tightly twined together, impossible to tell which one of them they were coming from.
Shen Li did not argue. She slowly crossed her legs.
“Sheng Xing, your sudden heat last night was not my doing.”
“You’ve overused inhibitors. The side effects are too strong, and your body is already on the verge of losing control.”
Shen Li had already tried to be as tactful as possible, but those words still struck Sheng Xing’s Omega pride like a nerve.
An Omega who could not receive comfort from her own legal wife.
Who could only live year-round relying on inhibitors.
It was like a slap, striking Sheng Xing hard across the face.
The veins at Sheng Xing’s neck tensed. Her face grew hot, and she gave a cold laugh.
“Shen Li, I usually don’t bother arguing with you. Do you really think I’m that easy to fool?”
Shen Li shook her head and leaned forward, her cold brown eyes fixing on Sheng Xing’s.
“If it really were me, it wouldn’t be as simple as only a temporary mark.”
Sheng Xing also leaned forward, her eyes meeting this Alpha’s without the slightest fear.
“Do you dare?”
“Mark me for life. You, Shen Li, do you dare?”
In her pitch-black eyes was undisguised contempt, along with a superior certainty that came from her very bones.
Even as an Omega, in this relationship, she had perhaps never truly respected Shen Li.
To her, Shen Li may have merely been an ornament kept inside the boundaries of her control.
That made this hatred much more logical.
Shen Li suddenly understood these two paper people a little better.
She no longer wasted time and reined in her emotions.
“Once the divorce contract is drafted, just have the lawyer contact me directly.”
“I don’t have time to move everything out today. Later, I’ll make an appointment with you in advance.”
Shen Li stood and raised her hand at Sheng Xing, giving it a little wave. The long, translucent manicure on her five fingers became obvious in the sunlight.
“Remember to delete my fingerprint password.”
She casually slung her bag over her shoulder. There were only some necessities inside.
It was not even the most expensive brand.
“I booked an appointment with the physical examination department this afternoon…”
“I won’t go.”
Sheng Xing stood up and cut her off anxiously.
She instinctively touched the gland covered with a bandage patch, then raised her head to look at the woman in front of her.
Shen Li was a little surprised at being interrupted. The corners of her lips could not help curving up slightly, and she raised an eyebrow.
“Whether Miss Sheng goes or not… is your freedom. I booked it for myself.”
“…”
Shen Li said nothing more. She gave Sheng Xing one last deep look, then took out her sunglasses and perched them over her eyes.
She turned and walked out. Just as she reached the door, she suddenly thought of something and quickly took out a pen and paper from her bag, writing down a string of numbers.
Shen Li turned back. Sheng Xing had already climbed halfway up the stairs. Shen Li quickly caught up, and the two of them ended up stuck at the narrow turn of the staircase.
Shen Li pushed her sunglasses up onto her head and looked into Sheng Xing’s cool eyes, speaking seriously, word by word.
“This is another number of mine. For the half month after a temporary mark, your body will remain in an unstable state. Only my pheromones can soothe you.”
“I’ll be in City A for these two weeks. If you need anything at any time, call me whenever you want. I’ll appear by your side immediately.”
Sheng Xing looked at the slip of paper she handed over and scoffed.
“Another number I don’t have?”
Shen Li: “…”
Sheng Xing took the paper. Her slender fingers moved, and the slip was torn to pieces.
Her straight black hair fell down her back. The gland at the back of her neck was covered by a bandage patch and hidden beneath the collar of her sleeping robe. Her delicate chin lifted slightly, and Sheng Xing copied Shen Li’s tone.
“You want me to beg you to soothe me? Do you think that’s possible, Miss Shen?”
“The hospital has all kinds of aftercare soothing pheromones.”
“Any one of them smells better than yours.”
Shen Li lowered her eyes and glanced at the scraps of paper that had fallen on her shoes.
She did not get angry. With a turn of her fingers, she once again pulled a black signing pen from her bag.
Sheng Xing was too lazy to waste time with her and turned to leave. In the next second, however, Shen Li directly yanked her back with force.
Sheng Xing instinctively struggled, but Shen Li held her firmly in place. She picked up the pen, her fingers unrestrained, and wrote a string of numbers directly on the fabric over Sheng Xing’s shoulder.
The pen tip rubbed against Sheng Xing’s skin through the fabric, stroke by stroke.
It tickled.
An Alpha only needed to release a little pheromone to completely suppress an Omega in terms of strength, let alone right after a temporary mark.
After writing the number, Shen Li restrained the habitual urge to smoothly add her signature as well.
No matter how Sheng Xing struggled, it was useless. She could only watch helplessly as Shen Li acted so recklessly on her body. Anxious and angry, her porcelain-white face flushed red in an instant.
After Shen Li finished writing, she put away the pen and leaned into Sheng Xing’s space.
“Although hospital pheromone soothers come in many scents, their grade isn’t high enough. Not to mention, I’m an S+ Alpha.”
“Wife, before we get the divorce certificate, I allow you to enjoy me to your heart’s content.”
Her shameless words made Sheng Xing’s ears burn. Her face grew even redder, her chest rising and falling violently, and her tone was fierce.
“Shen Li, aside from your pheromones being S+, every other part of you is a D. Utterly. Terrible.”
Shen Li looked at the eldest young lady CEO’s anger-reddened little face, pulled her even closer, and bent down beside her ear, her breath barely brushing the edge of the back of Sheng Xing’s neck.
“I’m D—”
Her lips almost grazed Sheng Xing’s reddened ear, and her voice dropped extremely low, like an electric current burrowing into the nerves.
“You only found that out last night?”
