After Transmigrating into an ABO World with My Nemesis (BL) - Chapter 7
Cheng Bing remained silent for a long while, making no move.
Only his pheromones were at work, quietly enveloping Jiang Zhou along with that peach scent, trapping him within this tiny pocket of space and blocking any further scrutiny from other Alphas.
Jiang Zhou was the type who looked like he’d blow his top easily, but in reality, he didn’t hold onto anger for long.
He was internally self-consistent, as if naturally desensitized to pain; his small heart only had room for happy things.
But the more a person is like that, the more clearly they remember the things that truly hurt them. He would engrave such things in his memory for a long time, and then simply stop interacting with the person who caused the pain.
Like that one time in the past.
During Cheng Bing’s silence, Jiang Zhou had run out of patience and wrote again:
[Why are you so awkward? If you think you’ve wronged someone, you say sorry. Is that really such a hard thing to do?]
Cheng Bing continued writing on the scrap of paper: [Why are you angry?]
Jiang Zhou: “…”
Is this guy some kind of AI bot? Why does he keep harping on this?
Jiang Zhou pressed his lips together, writing nothing and saying nothing.
How was he supposed to put it into words?
He was like a cat suddenly thrown into a strange environment, with a time bomb planted inside his body. He couldn’t defuse his own bomb, yet he had to help someone else defuse theirs. He could only bluster by arching his back and bristling his fur while cautiously leaning toward Cheng Bing—yet this guy stepped on his tail and mocked him for being afraid.
Even though he had endured that fear specifically to help him.
However, Jiang Zhou wasn’t very willing to admit he had been scared.
Especially not scared by Cheng Bing.
Showing weakness in front of a nemesis was strictly forbidden behavior.
Cheng Bing, however, seemed to sense something. His thick dark brows twitched.
[You’re uneasy,] he wrote.
Jiang Zhou: “…”
[I am not! Which eye did you see ‘uneasy’ with?]
[Is it because you became an Omega?]
[…]
[You feel like you’ve become weak.]
Jiang Zhou clearly didn’t want to deal with him anymore and didn’t respond.
Cheng Bing had no choice but to keep writing.
[Whether a person is weak is not determined by gender.]
Because Jiang Zhou was not weak, therefore, even as an Omega, Jiang Zhou was still not weak.
Jiang Zhou’s expression turned a bit strange. He wrote on the paper:
[Cheng-y Bing, are you comforting me?]
[No.]
Jiang Zhou: “…”
See? I told you Cheng Bing is terrible at talking!
[I obviously know gender doesn’t decide anything. I’m just annoyed.]
Annoyed.
Suddenly becoming an Omega, having a Heat, being unable to use suppressants, having to be marked by an Alpha—to be invaded and possessed by another person. Even if he might get hurt, he would have to expose his belly and let another person do as they pleased.
Just like yesterday, when he was soothing Cheng Bing.
The sudden upheaval, the uncontrollable body, the irrepressible instincts.
He still didn’t know if he could go back, or when.
Of course he felt uneasy.
[I’m sorry.]
Cheng Bing pushed the note over.
Jiang Zhou was silent for a moment, then wrote with a hint of grievance:
[You really are annoying as hell.]
[Mhm.]
[I hate you.]
[Okay.]
[I hate you very, very, very much!]
Using that many “verys” plus an exclamation mark made it clear he truly did hate him.
Cheng Bing’s expression remained calm.
[Understood.]
Jiang Zhou: “…”
This guy is no fun at all.
Jiang Zhou didn’t want to talk to him anymore.
Jiang Zhou stopped speaking, and Cheng Bing stopped writing notes. A silence fell between them, where only the sound of each other’s breathing could be heard.
But Jiang Zhou was remarkably easy to coax. After a while, he awkwardly tugged at the corner of Cheng Bing’s shirt.
Cheng Bing looked down. Jiang Zhou had written a line on the paper:
[Anyway… lend me some pheromones.]
Cheng Bing let out a sudden, silent laugh. He thought to himself that Jiang Zhou really was a fascinating person.
[Okay.]
The two went to the pheromone isolation room established in the library. To prevent emergencies, the school had an isolation room on every floor of every building. Students experiencing sudden issues could go there to handle it themselves or wait for help.
However, Cheng Bing hadn’t expected Jiang Zhou to turn his back directly to him, lowering his head slightly and brazenly exposing that clean, snow-white nape completely to his eyes.
The pheromones in Cheng Bing’s blood boiled instantly. Every instinct containing dark desire was ignited. His throat tightened, and liquid laced with pheromones began to secrete at the tips of his teeth.
If one wanted to leave their scent on an Omega’s body, the simplest way was to mark them.
To bite the Omega’s nape, piercing that tiny, pitiful gland with teeth, and then recklessly—with intense possessiveness and a desire to destroy—pour one’s pheromones into the Omega’s body.
Cheng Bing’s Adam’s apple bobbed.
Jiang Zhou waited for ages without Cheng Bing making a move. He turned his head and said, “Hurry up, what are you stalling for? I still have to look up info in a bit.”
Cheng Bing: “…”
Cheng Bing’s expression was complex. For a moment, he had a thousand things he wanted to say.
Seeing him stay motionless, Jiang Zhou simply grabbed Cheng Bing’s hand and placed it on the back of his own neck, urging, “Hur—ry—up—”
The skin under his palm was delicate and warm. That tiny gland pulsed gently, bumping against Cheng Bing’s palm, making his fingertips tremble in sync with the gland’s frequency.
Cheng Bing finally understood: Jiang Zhou didn’t want him to perform a mark; he wanted him to leave a scent on the gland.
That’s how it should be.
But a tiny… very subtle sense of disappointment rose in Cheng Bing’s heart.
This disappointment was miniscule, almost a fleeting thought. Before Cheng Bing could even process the letdown, it was crushed into the deepest part of his heart by over a decade of repressed discipline.
He pressed his palm against the back of Jiang Zhou’s neck, applying slight pressure as he rubbed against the gland.
Jiang Zhou’s breathing hitched for a split second, but he didn’t realize this was just Cheng Bing’s wicked playfulness. He only knit his brows, trying his best to endure the bizarre sensation.
In truth, if one wanted to leave pheromones on an Omega, it didn’t have to be on the gland.
Collars, earlobes, collarbones, or even wrists—all could hold a scent.
But Jiang Zhou clearly didn’t know this.
For whatever reason, Cheng Bing didn’t point it out.
The scent of cold snow, carrying waves of woody fragrance, leaked out soundlessly. Pheromones a hundred times more concentrated than before tightly coiled around Jiang Zhou, locking him in. Finally, a massive amount of Alpha pheromones settled on Jiang Zhou’s gland, burying all the sweetness of the peach candy.
Jiang Zhou felt that he was very “off” right now.
This feeling was completely different from yesterday when he burst into Cheng Bing’s Rut.
Yesterday, he only felt like he was going to be destroyed by the pheromones. Now, it felt like being enveloped in a pool of gentle water. He was almost melting into the scent, forced to reach out and brace himself against the wall to keep from turning into a puddle.
After a long time, Jiang Zhou turned around, his ears burning and the corners of his eyes damp and red. His lips moved slightly as he whispered, “Are we done?”
No.
A deeper void and lack of satisfaction swept through Cheng Bing’s soul. Hunger and desire clamored, telling him to find a safe, soft, comfortable nest, carry this Omega back to hide him, and then mark him ruthlessly until every inch of him was filled with his own scent.
But that was not allowed.
It shouldn’t be.
Cheng Bing gazed at him heavily for a long time before slowly withdrawing his hand. His fingertips seemingly brushed over Jiang Zhou’s gland by accident as he answered in a low voice, “We’re done.”
The two spent the whole morning researching in the library, but found nothing.
Jiang Zhou wasn’t surprised.
If modern physics hadn’t proven the theory, how could the two of them make any progress? How could something that only appeared in films and fantasy novels happen to them?
Jiang Zhou slumped dejectedly over the library table, already beaten by life into a pancake that couldn’t resist.
Jiang Zhou is out of commission. Jiang Zhou is gonna die.
Lunchtime arrived, and students in the library began packing their things to head out for food.
Jiang Zhou and Cheng Bing also left the library, only to spot a vending machine right around the corner.
Inside sat a specific item: Omega Blocker.
Jiang Zhou: “…”
Cheng Bing: “…”
Jiang Zhou turned slowly to look at Cheng Bing.
Cheng Bing’s face didn’t change: “I didn’t know.”
Jiang Zhou stared at him for a while. Seeing that Cheng Bing didn’t look guilty, he huffed and said, “I’ll believe you this time.”
With that, like a puppy, he pulled at his own collar and sniffed, grumbling a follow-up: “I’m covered in your smell.”
Cheng Bing’s eyelid suddenly twitched.
Jiang Zhou noticed his strange expression and asked suspiciously, “Why that face? Surely that sentence doesn’t count as an ‘invitation’ too?”
“No,” Cheng Bing said after a thought. “It’s probably just that my mind is dirty.”
Jiang Zhou: “…”
Jiang Zhou gritted his teeth: “Sometimes, I really want to kill you.”
“You can’t,” Cheng Bing said politely, then added, “Don’t say things like that to other Alphas.”
Jiang Zhou said wordlessly, “I know, I know. You stinky Alphas all have dirty minds. An Omega does anything and you interpret it a thousand different ways. Perverts!”
Cheng Bing didn’t even try to resist: “Mhm.”
Jiang Zhou was so weirded out he got goosebumps: “…”
Their relationship hadn’t harmonized enough for them to eat together, so they parted ways at the school gate.
Since it was peak lunchtime, every restaurant near the gate was packed. Jiang Zhou decided to walk a bit further and found a Chinese restaurant where he ordered a “Poached Pork Slices” over rice.
The place was out of the way and quiet. The dish came out quickly, and Jiang Zhou finished fast, getting up to head back to campus.
Not long after leaving the restaurant, as he passed a small alleyway, he suddenly heard low sobbing.
“Can you just leave me alone? We’ve already broken up… what more do you want?”
“Break up? With a body like yours, could you even survive without an Alpha?”
“…Can you stop talking like that? We have suppressants. Even if I really need an Alpha’s mark, it doesn’t have to be you.”
“Heh, I’m really giving you too much face. Who else would want you besides me? Have you seen yourself lately?”
“You… No! What are you doing! Don’t touch me!”
Jiang Zhou couldn’t listen anymore.
“Stop right there!”
