An Inner Life of a Cold Beauty Omega Secretary - Chapter 13
So, Mu Zheng doesn’t have an Alpha boyfriend, but an Omega girlfriend?!!!
An O-O relationship—this was truly something Ye Baiwei hadn’t expected.
Yet, Ye Baiwei clearly remembered mentioning an “Alpha boyfriend” so many times, and Mu Zheng had never even thought to correct her.
Wait.
It probably wasn’t that she hadn’t thought about correcting her; she likely felt it was unnecessary.
Given Mu Zheng’s personality, she most likely found explaining it to be a hassle. Furthermore, since Mu Zheng didn’t know she was an imposter, specifically explaining such a detail to the “original” Ye Baiwei would have felt like giving some sort of psychological hint or invitation.
In that light, Mu Zheng’s silence made sense.
But in the current situation, having accidentally learned something scandalous about Mu Zheng’s girlfriend, should she tell Mu Zheng directly?
If she spoke up, maybe she could completely change her image in Mu Zheng’s mind. She could slowly dissolve the stereotype Mu Zheng had of the original Ye Baiwei and get her to be a bit nicer to her.
But…
It seemed unlikely.
Based on her understanding of Mu Zheng over the last two days, if she were to reveal this secretly, Mu Zheng would surely think she had ill intentions or was trying to sow discord. What might have been an opportunity to uncover the truth would, because of her intervention, instead serve as a warning to the cheating partner. In the end, she’d be the one in the wrong.
She’d be stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Ye Baiwei agonized over it for a long time before finally deciding to keep this explosive gossip to herself, silently hoping the secretary would discover the treachery on her own. Otherwise, being kept in the dark meant losing both her heart and her money—spending it on her cheating partner and the partner’s lover. She would be the ultimate “sucker.”
She waited by the car for a moment, and the driver soon brought over the compensation agreement.
“President Ye, why… did you come out?”
If it weren’t for those two brain-dead idiots, she wouldn’t have wanted to get out at all!
Ye Baiwei rubbed her temples again and found that after breathing the fresh air, her head finally felt less dizzy. “How is it? Did the two of them sign?”
The driver handed the paper to Ye Baiwei. “They signed. I had both of them leave their phone numbers and ID numbers. If they try to back out later, we can go straight to the police.”
Ye Baiwei took the paper, looked closely at the IDs, then pulled out her phone to open a search app and quickly typed in the ID numbers left on the form.
A moment later.
The app displayed the identity information associated with the IDs.
As Ye Baiwei expected, one of the ID numbers left on the agreement belonged to Mu Zheng, while the other belonged to the Omega herself. There was absolutely no information regarding the cheating Alpha.
For some reason, Ye Baiwei felt a surge of inexplicable discomfort.
Logically, this had nothing to do with her, yet she felt uneasy—she even wanted to turn around and slap both of them.
“What’s wrong, President Ye? Are the ID numbers fake?”
Ye Baiwei shook her head. “No, they’re real.”
She had never seen such a repulsive person. Cheating was one thing, but digging a hole for your own partner was sub-human behavior.
However, she couldn’t meddle in such private matters right now. Since Mu Zheng didn’t know, she could only pretend she didn’t know either.
“Did they say when they would pay?”
The driver said, “I asked just now. They said by the end of this week at the latest. The agreement clearly states that the final deadline is this Sunday. If they don’t pay on time by the end of the weekend, President Ye can call the police directly.”
Ye Baiwei looked at the time; tomorrow happened to be Saturday. Mu Zheng planned to go on a date with this cheating Omega. She truly couldn’t imagine how Mu Zheng would feel if she knew the romantic trip she carefully planned with her “true love” was actually a farce, while her so-called love had long since fallen into the arms of another Alpha.
Would she go crazy?
Or resort to violence?
Knowing Mu Zheng, she’d likely resort to violence.
Ye Baiwei folded the agreement and stuffed it into her pocket. She glanced sideways at the two people still plotting behind her and couldn’t help but mutter a curse: “A bitch and a dog, a match made in heaven.”
With that, Ye Baiwei pulled open the car door and sat back inside.
However, after all this commotion, Ye Baiwei’s mood to go to the mall for hotpot base and ingredients had vanished. At this moment, all she wanted was to hurry home, order takeout, and have a beautiful afternoon nap. She told the driver to turn around and head back to the original Ye Baiwei’s residence.
Just as she arrived home, she received the hotel address from Mu Zheng.
Ye Baiwei checked it on her phone; it was a hotel inside an amusement park. The surrounding area had barbecue shops, bars, and souvenir stores. The environment looked okay. But Ye Baiwei used to travel frequently for work—staying in hotels at least five or six times a month—so she knew very well that if these kinds of shops were nearby, the hotel’s soundproofing was likely terrible.
[There is only this one hotel inside the amusement park. The environment certainly won’t be as good as the hotels you usually stay in, President Ye, so please bear with it. It’s only for a day and a half.]
[Is Secretary Mu trying to save me money?]
Ye Baiwei remembered saying that if Mu Zheng agreed, she would cover all expenses. Furthermore, the original Ye Baiwei had seemingly given Mu Zheng a black card with no limit, specifically so Mu Zheng wouldn’t have to bother her with trivial financial matters; Mu Zheng could just deduct whatever she needed.
Did… Mu Zheng not want to owe her a favor?
But this wasn’t a favor; it was a deal. To be precise, Mu Zheng only agreed under her coercion and inducement. There was no way she could feel she owed a favor, right?
Clearly, Ye Baiwei was overthinking.
[President Ye, this is the only hotel near the amusement park. If we chose another one, it would be at least a thirty-minute drive.]
Ye Baiwei: [I’ll pay the fare.]
Mu Zheng stared at the message and let out a heavy sigh. She really wanted to tell Ye Baiwei straight out that not everything in the world can be solved with money.
She knew Ye Baiwei was rich and didn’t care about a little extra expense, but she was accompanying Fang Ran on a date, so she had to prioritize Fang Ran’s feelings. If the hotel was far away and required over an hour of commuting back and forth, Fang Ran would definitely be unhappy. The whole point of a date was happiness and convenience; if those couldn’t be met, they might as well stay home.
[President Ye, it’s not a matter of money.]
[Then what is the problem?]
[The problem is, who the hell is going on a date—is it her and me, or is it you, Madame Pimp, going out on a date?!!!]
Pfft—
Ye Baiwei had just slurped a mouthful of noodles. Before she could even swallow, she nearly choked on this sudden internal curse.
“Cough, cough, cough, cough, cough!”
No way… they weren’t even in the same place, and she could still hear Mu Zheng’s inner voice?!!!
This… how much resentment must be in her heart for the voice to travel all the way here? It seemed Mu Zheng was truly driven mad by that last sentence.
Ye Baiwei hadn’t realized that was the reason. It seemed that as someone who had never been in a relationship, she really couldn’t imagine what went through a couple’s mind.
After chugging some soda to wash the noodles down, Ye Baiwei quickly typed a reply: [I understand. Then I wish you a pleasant date, Secretary Mu.]
[Oh, by the way, I wanted to ask if you’ve noticed anything wr—]
Before she finished the word “wrong,” Ye Baiwei realized she was overstepping. She quickly retracted the long string of text she had accidentally sent. Even if she had witnessed Fang Ran’s cheating firsthand, she and Mu Zheng were only boss and subordinate. Standing up for justice is something anyone can do—anyone, that is, except the boss.
[Wr-what? What did you want to say, President Ye?]
Ye Baiwei: [Nothing, sent it to the wrong person.]
Saying that felt a bit like a forced cover-up, but Mu Zheng likely wouldn’t think in that direction. It was better to let her stay in the dark for now; at least she wouldn’t be sad about being deceived.
As for that Omega, Fang Ran… she hoped she would find a conscience and initiate a breakup so things wouldn’t get too ugly.
Oh, wait.
What was she thinking? Those two jerks clearly don’t have a conscience, otherwise they wouldn’t have put Mu Zheng’s ID number on that compensation agreement!
Ye Baiwei felt a surge of uncharacteristic spite. She pulled the agreement out of her pocket and looked at it again. After tomorrow, the driver would call Fang Ran to demand payment. She bet that tomorrow, during the date, this “bitch O” would definitely try to emotionally blackmail Mu Zheng into paying for her and her cheating partner.
Ye Baiwei wanted the compensation—the car was wrecked, and it wasn’t just any car, it was a limited-edition Lamborghini!
A limited edition you couldn’t buy for millions!
But Ye Baiwei didn’t want Mu Zheng’s money. Mu Zheng didn’t crash the car, so why should she pay for those two jerks!
The more Ye Baiwei thought about it, the more annoyed she got. But as an adult, she had to consider too much, and she suppressed her impulse.
[Have a good time tomorrow, Secretary Mu.]
If anyone else had sent this, Mu Zheng wouldn’t have thought twice. But since it was Ye Baiwei, she felt something was very wrong.
Yet she couldn’t figure out why Ye Baiwei would suddenly say such a thing.
Was this person brewing some kind of trouble again?
Lacking evidence, she decided not to jump to conclusions.
Mu Zheng: [Thank you, President Ye.]
