An Inner Life of a Cold Beauty Omega Secretary - Chapter 12
Ye Baiwei didn’t make Mu Zheng accompany her home. She had originally wanted to give Mu Zheng a ride so she could find out where she lived, but Mu Zheng, unsurprisingly, saw right through that plan and rejected her so-called kindness.
Left with no choice, Ye Baiwei headed home alone.
Halfway there, she suddenly felt hungry. A glance at her watch showed it was nearly noon, which explained why her stomach was growling; it was indeed lunchtime.
She had the driver find a place to pull over so she could hop out and buy some food to take back.
Initially, she wanted to buy hotpot base to cook at home, but after getting out, she realized that within a ten-mile radius, there were only high-end restaurants and not a single proper supermarket. The few convenience stores around didn’t carry things like hotpot ingredients.
Ye Baiwei opened a restaurant’s mini-app to check the price of a set meal, and her eyes nearly popped out at the listed prices.
“Braised Pork Trotter and Roast Duck: 65; Stir-fried Chitterlings with Green Peppers: 70; Chicken Gizzards with Chives: 65; Beef with Pineapple: 80. Rice sold separately, 5 yuan per serving…”
“Holy crap, why don’t you just rob me!”
At that moment, Ye Baiwei really wanted to call the police, but then she remembered she was in the city center. For a restaurant to sell a meal at this price was actually quite normal for the area. Prices nearby were likely the same. If she wanted something cheap, she’d either have to go home and order delivery or have the driver go elsewhere.
After some thought, and sticking to her principles of thriftiness, she decided to have the driver take her to a mall to buy a few packs of hotpot base and some ingredients. Since Mu Zheng wasn’t around today, she could indulge herself.
On the road.
Ye Baiwei was thinking about the deal she made with Mu Zheng. She had given Mu Zheng the whole afternoon off. If Mu Zheng was going out with her boyfriend tomorrow, an afternoon was plenty of time to plan the itinerary, including the hotel room number Ye Baiwei wanted.
Actually, she didn’t really need to worry. Mu Zheng’s work competence was legendary in the original novel; you don’t stay as Ye Baiwei’s reliable right hand for five years without serious skills. The main reason Ye Baiwei wanted to check in was the fear that Mu Zheng might change her mind at the last minute, which would make tomorrow very difficult for her.
[Secretary Mu, I assume you have a plan for where you’re going with your boyfriend tomorrow?]
Mu Zheng had just arrived home when she saw the pressuring message from Ye Baiwei. Instantly, ten thousand horses were galloping through her mind.
But the woman was her boss.
Taking a deep breath to settle her anger, Mu Zheng kicked off her shoes, closed the door, and quickly tapped out a reply.
[I will definitely send the hotel address to you tonight, President Ye. Please do not worry.]
Looks like she keeps her word.
Ye Baiwei curled her lips into a smile and didn’t message again to disturb her. She casually scrolled through her phone to pass the time.
But just then, the car shook violently.
A black car of an unknown make suddenly slammed into the Lamborghini Ye Baiwei was sitting in.
With a loud bang, the driver slammed on the brakes. Ye Baiwei felt like a spring; if she hadn’t been wearing her seatbelt, she probably would have been flung out.
After the emergency stop, the driver quickly turned around and asked, “President Ye, are you alright?!”
Ye Baiwei felt like her head didn’t belong to her; a sharp dizziness exploded in her skull. She held her head and shook it. Once the spinning finally subsided, she slowly looked up. “I’m fine.”
She then added, “Go down and see what happened.”
She wanted to know which blind idiot was driving. Didn’t they see someone else on the road? Charging in like that—were they suicidal or just plain crazy!
The driver nodded and immediately got out.
This stretch of road was covered by surveillance cameras, and the owner of the other car knew they couldn’t run. After braking, they also stepped out of their vehicle.
It was a young Alpha and Omega.
They looked like a couple.
After getting out, the Omega, seemingly out of fear, kept clutching the Alpha’s arm.
“A-Yue, what should we do? This car looks really expensive.”
“It’s okay, you have me. Don’t be scared.”
The driver didn’t waste words, getting straight to the point. “Are you two planning to swipe a card for the damages now, or are you coming with us to the 4S shop to get a quote after it’s fixed?”
The Alpha asked weakly, “If we pay, how much will it be?”
The driver said, “Based on the impact, the side of the car is dented. Repairing that alone is over a hundred thousand. Add to that the extensive paint damage from the friction; repainting will bring the total to at least 250,000 yuan.”
Hearing they had to pay over 200,000, both of their faces turned pale.
The Alpha immediately started shouting, “Two—250,000 base? 250,000 just to fix a car? Is this car made of gold? Why don’t you just go rob someone!”
The driver realized he had encountered “barbarians” again but didn’t get angry. He pulled out his phone and said, “If you don’t want to pay, that’s fine. We’ll just call the police and let them handle it. I believe once they arrive and check the surveillance, you won’t have any objections.”
Hearing the mention of the police, the Omega clutching the arm instantly panicked.
“A-Yue, what do we do? He’s calling the police! If we don’t pay, we’ll go to jail!”
“A-Yue, think of something! We’ll both end up in prison, I don’t want to go to jail!”
The Alpha, seemingly irritated by the noise, roared, “Think of what? What do you want me to do in this situation? Didn’t you hear him? At least 250,000! That means we have to pay at least that much, maybe more. Do you have that kind of money?!”
The Omega went quiet after being yelled at. “B-but… if we don’t pay, we’ll both go to jail! A-Yue, we’re still so young. How many years would we get? Are you really willing to go to prison?”
Naturally, no one in this world wants to go to prison.
But they couldn’t come up with that much money all at once.
Forget 200,000—they couldn’t even produce 100,000.
No, they couldn’t even produce a few thousand.
Seeing their conflicted expressions, the driver knew they were looking for a way out of paying. He picked up his phone to dial 110.
The Alpha rushed forward and grabbed the driver’s hand to stop him. “Wait! We didn’t say we wouldn’t pay! We’ll pay, just don’t call the police!”
The driver was skeptical and confirmed, “Have you two thought this through? I only gave a rough estimate; we won’t know the exact amount until a mechanic at the shop looks at it.”
In this situation, they had to pay. If they paid, they’d just have to work hard for a few years. If they didn’t, prison would last much longer than that.
The Alpha nodded firmly. “Yes, we’ve thought it through. We’ll pay!”
The driver relented, put his phone back in his pocket, and immediately turned to report to Ye Baiwei inside the car.
“President Ye, they said they will compensate for the repair costs.”
Ye Baiwei’s head was still spinning. The sudden braking was so violent she felt like her brain had been turned into a smoothie; she felt that if she shook any harder, it would start spraying out of her eyes, ears, nose, and mouth.
Rubbing her temples, she asked, “How much did you tell them to pay?”
The driver said truthfully, “I gave a rough estimate of 250,000 yuan as a base.”
Holy cow!
Two—250,000 base?!
Ye Baiwei was once again shocked by these terrifying numbers. Although she knew car repairs weren’t cheap—a simple paint job could cost over 20,000—let alone other structural damage, she hadn’t expected it to be this expensive!
But then again, the car the original Ye Baiwei used was a luxury vehicle worth millions, some even limited editions. You couldn’t measure them by normal prices, so such a high repair cost was actually normal.
“Fine. As long as they agree to pay. Go back to handling it.”
“Yes, President Ye.”
The driver took a blank compensation agreement and a pen from the glove compartment and walked back toward the couple.
Usually, the matter would have ended there, but the dizziness was so strong that Ye Baiwei couldn’t stand it anymore. She opened the car door to get some fresh air.
“A-Yue, you said we’d pay… but with so much money, how can we possibly pay?”
“If we don’t pay, we go to jail! Of course we have to pay, but who said it has to be us two paying?”
“A-Yue, what do you mean?”
“Isn’t your girlfriend the secretary for that Ye family CEO? Her salary must be huge. Make her pay—she can definitely afford it!”
“Huh? A-Yue, you mean… have Mu Zheng pay for us? But how could she possibly be willing to help us pay that kind of money?”
“You’re still here, aren’t you? Doesn’t she always say how much she likes you? When you go back, tell her you accidentally hit someone’s car. If she really loves you, she’ll definitely pay for you. If she refuses, it means she doesn’t love you enough. Then you threaten suicide—I don’t believe she’ll just stand by and watch.”
At the mention of the name “Mu Zheng,” Ye Baiwei’s dizziness vanished instantly. She looked up at the two of them, and suddenly, she felt like she had just stumbled upon some incredible information.
