My Omega Is A Top Heavenly Master (GL) - Chapter 12
Mu Baicheng had no idea how long she had been walking before she finally made it through the garden and entered the mansion.
The interior was terrifyingly dark.
Fortunately, Dudu could see the path even in complete darkness. Moreover, its body emitted light, saving Mu Baicheng a considerable amount of time.
After searching for ages, Mu Baicheng found only the corpses of two disciples from the Celestial Masters’ Residence. There was still no sign of Qin Xiyao.
Growing anxious, Mu Baicheng stroked Dudu’s head.
“Dudu, aren’t you a dog? Can’t you smell where Qin Xiyao is?”
“Whimper…”
Dudu shook its head.
It had accumulated far too little merit and did not possess such a miraculous sense of smell. Besides, they were currently trapped inside an illusion formation.
One of Dudu’s floppy ears suddenly perked up.
It listened carefully to the sounds carried by the wind. A moment later, its eyes lit up.
“Woof!”
“You found her?”
Mu Baicheng was delighted.
It seemed Dudu’s hearing was exceptionally sharp.
She placed Dudu on the floor and instructed, “Don’t run too quickly.”
Mu Baicheng had exercised since childhood, yet her health had always remained poor.
After reaching adulthood, she differentiated into an Alpha, but her gland was underdeveloped. She did not possess the physical strength an Alpha should have.
Dudu barked twice to show that it understood, then ran ahead at a pace Mu Baicheng could easily follow.
Of course, Mu Baicheng would have been much happier if Dudu had not led her toward a staircase.
“Why did Qin Xiyao go upstairs?” Mu Baicheng complained. “Doesn’t this damn place have an elevator?”
On second thought, the mansion was already in this state, so dark that she could not see her hand in front of her face. Even if there were an elevator, it probably would not work.
Forget it.
She could only accept her fate and climb using her own two legs.
Mu Baicheng struggled upward until she finally reached the top floor.
Pallid moonlight streamed through a small attic window. A rusted iron ladder had been propped between the upper floor and the window.
“Woof! Woof!”
Dudu ran in circles beneath the ladder, wagging its tail frantically.
There’s someone here! Someone’s here!
It tried to convey the message in its own way.
Dudu could sense that Mu Baicheng was currently unable to use her spiritual consciousness, so it could only warn her like an ordinary animal.
Mu Baicheng clapped her hands.
“You mean Qin Xiyao is up there.”
“Whimper…”
Dudu wanted to explain that it had never said that. It only knew someone was there.
What was wrong with this person?
Why was her spiritual consciousness so strange?
Mu Baicheng patted her chest.
“Don’t worry. I’ll rescue her immediately.”
After speaking, she barely managed to grasp the lower end of the ladder with both hands and laboriously hauled herself up using the strength in her arms.
In the past, Mu Baicheng never would have imagined possessing this much upper-body strength.
Recently, however, she felt that she had somehow grown a little stronger.
It seemed listening to Qin Xiyao had been the right decision. Merely reading the Classic of Mountains and Seas in her spare time could improve her abilities.
Qin Xiyao, nothing had better happen to you. I still need you to teach me.
When Mu Baicheng finally climbed onto the roof, she gasped heavily.
“Thank goodness. I finally made it.”
The moonlight was deathly pale, giving the night an unbearably desolate air.
A white figure stood at the edge of the roof, her skirt fluttering in the cold wind.
Mu Baicheng’s gaze settled upon her.
The eastern side of the estate faced the sea, while the western side…
There was a cliff.
Song Jinran stood blankly at the edge of the roof, facing a seemingly bottomless precipice.
She slowly raised her right foot and prepared to step into the abyss.
Mu Baicheng reached out and dragged her backward.
With a thud, Song Jinran fell onto the flat section of the roof.
Her gaze remained vacant, and her strength was considerable. She struggled to get up and continue what she had been doing.
“What the hell? This woman is determined to die!”
Mu Baicheng tightly restrained Song Jinran’s arm.
“Miss Song, the world is still a beautiful place! There’s no reason to kill yourself!”
Song Jinran could not hear her and continued struggling.
Dudu rolled its eyes, raised its head toward the pale moon, and released a long howl.
Clarity gradually returned to Song Jinran’s eyes.
When she regained her senses, she discovered an Alpha holding her arm.
Without thinking, Song Jinran slapped Mu Baicheng across the face.
A bright handprint immediately appeared on Mu Baicheng’s fair cheek.
“Hiss…”
The beautiful Alpha’s brows drew together in pain.
She finally understood why people said no good deed went unpunished.
“I saved your life, and this is how you repay me?”
Mu Baicheng covered her face and silently cursed Song Jinran, her ancestors, and every living friend and relative she possessed several times over.
She had hit her far too hard.
Mu Baicheng’s cheek was already swelling.
Dudu whimpered and circled her worriedly.
“It’s fine. I’m fine.”
Mu Baicheng comfortingly patted its head.
“Let’s continue looking for her.”
“Wait.”
Only then did Song Jinran realize that Mu Baicheng had rescued her from the illusion.
She looked toward the bottomless cliff before her.
Without Mu Baicheng, she would already have fallen and been smashed beyond recognition.
Mu Baicheng did not look back. She merely raised her right hand and waved.
“There’s no need to thank me. I’m Lei Feng. I won’t charge you for saving your life, Miss Song. Just reimburse my medical expenses once we get out.”
Song Jinran’s gaze softened as she watched the Alpha leave.
“Mu Baicheng.”
She had found someone rather interesting.
An Alpha with an underdeveloped gland, yet a heavenly soul showed her such extraordinary affection?
Song Jinran’s yin-yang eyes revealed a faint golden radiance surrounding Mu Baicheng.
Emperors cultivated purple qi.
Then what kind of person possessed golden light?
“What an interesting person.”
The wind stirred Song Jinran’s skirt.
An eerie female voice drifted through the air.
“She no longer wanted her. She abandoned her.”
“Every Alpha who abandons an Omega deserves to die.”
The voice continued endlessly, sounding like someone weeping as she poured out her grievances.
*
The voice in the wind continuously wormed its way into Mu Baicheng’s ears.
She only wanted to find Qin Xiyao.
After searching more than a dozen rooms, she finally found Qin Xiyao asleep in the stairwell on the third floor.
“What happened to her?”
Mu Baicheng patted Qin Xiyao’s cheek, but she showed no sign of awakening.
Mu Baicheng could only ask Dudu.
Dudu tilted its head.
“Woof?”
Don’t ask me. How would I understand an Immortal’s affairs?
Still, the illusion formation attacking the Immortal was undoubtedly different from what the others had encountered.
The others had faced illusions that attacked their personal weaknesses and bewitched them into taking their own lives.
But the formation was directly attacking the Immortal’s spiritual consciousness.
Dudu found a comfortable place beside Mu Baicheng’s feet and lay down.
The Immortal’s spiritual consciousness was immensely powerful.
Wasn’t attacking it simply courting death?
Seeing how relaxed Dudu was, Mu Baicheng carried Qin Xiyao to a small bed nearby and sat down.
She placed her right hand against Qin Xiyao’s forehead.
“Qin Xiyao, hurry and wake up.”
Her voice was like a pebble falling into water, sending ripples through the illusion.
Inside it, Qin Xiyao stood at the summit of the Dao Domain dressed in a flowing white immortal gown.
Purple-gold thunderclouds gathered across the sky.
The ancient, mysterious voice of the Heavenly Dao echoed through the air.
“Wenxin, I have taken away your hundred thousand years of cultivation. Do you resent me?”
The longsword in Qin Xiyao’s hand swept through the air. After tracing a graceful flourish, the sharp blade returned to its sheath, leaving behind a cry like that of a phoenix.
“I do not. The path to sainthood has always been difficult. To question the heart, seek the Dao, and peer into heaven’s secrets naturally warrants ninety thousand bolts of tribulation lightning.”
“Hahahaha!”
The Heavenly Dao released a hearty laugh.
The thunderclouds scattered.
In an instant, Qin Xiyao’s white robes transformed into a phoenix coronet and scarlet wedding attire.
This place was…
Qin Xiyao’s pupils contracted.
She would never forget how lively the Nineteen Provinces had been that day.
Phoenixes cleared the path, and azure dragons flew alongside them.
Overnight, the peach blossoms Qin Xiyao adored bloomed throughout all nineteen provinces.
“The auspicious hour has arrived!”
The leader of the Phoenix Clan released a long cry.
Yet Qin Xiyao was the only person in the entire wedding hall.
That person never appeared.
The surrounding Saints, Quasi-Saints, Golden Immortals, and Daluo Golden Immortals whispered among themselves.
Panic seized Qin Xiyao.
Her Sister Mu had not come.
She tore off her exquisite phoenix coronet and rode the wind away.
She questioned her heart and sought the Dao. She asked heaven and earth.
She searched every corner of the Nineteen Provinces, yet could not find even a trace of that person’s aura.
Qin Xiyao stood despairingly beneath Jianmu.
One day followed another.
One year followed another.
Her Sister Mu no longer wanted her.
Her Sister Mu had disappeared without leaving a single word.
Once, beneath this very tree, the woman she loved had promised to remain with her for lifetime after lifetime, unwavering until death.
Liar!
“She left you. Do you hate her? Do you resent her?”
“You were the greatest genius in all the Nineteen Provinces, yet that wedding turned you into a joke.”
“Qin Xiyao, you are allowed to hate her.”
Hate her?
How could Qin Xiyao not hate her?
Her black pupils turned scarlet. Red and silver constantly shifted and intertwined within her eyes.
“You abandoned me without leaving a single word.”
Her throat ached as though she were weeping blood.
“Our vows of eternal love ultimately came to nothing.”
Mu Baicheng, did you ever truly…love me?
Black energy silently approached the back of Qin Xiyao’s head.
It crept closer little by little, intending to seize control of her consciousness while she was vulnerable.
Silver power intertwined with bloodred baleful energy around her longsword.
The spiritual consciousness of a Quasi-Saint surged outward and instantly tore the black energy apart.
“Impudent!”
Qin Xiyao shouted furiously and formed a seal with her left hand.
“Freeze.”
The black energy was pinned in midair, completely unable to move.
“Qin Xiyao, hurry and wake up.”
That person’s present voice differed from the one in her previous life.
It was not as gentle as it had once been, yet the concern it contained still made Qin Xiyao’s heart skip a beat.
The red light gradually disappeared from her eyes, leaving only silver.
Her black hair turned snowy white in an instant.
That person could still throw her mind into chaos.
Qin Xiyao’s gaze darkened.
She waved a hand and dispersed the black energy.
How laughable.
That person could still calm her with only her voice.
Every turn Qin Xiyao’s heart took was because of her.
“Mu Baicheng,” she called softly.
She did not know whether she was calling the Mu Baicheng she knew now or the woman from her previous life.
Outside the illusion, the body in Mu Baicheng’s arms gradually grew colder.
Qin Xiyao’s body temperature was already naturally low, but now a thin layer of frost appeared across her skin.
Mu Baicheng panicked.
She hurriedly pulled open her own shirt and stuffed Qin Xiyao into her embrace.
Mu Baicheng naturally ran hot, yet even she struggled to endure direct contact with the icy frost.
“Hiss… So cold.”
Mu Baicheng tightened her arms.
Although the cold made her entire body tremble, she refused to release Qin Xiyao.
What should she do?
What could she possibly do?
“Don’t hit me for this.”
Mu Baicheng swallowed and glanced at Qin Xiyao’s face.
Ice crystals clung to her eyelashes, making her resemble a spirit who had emerged from the snow.
Mu Baicheng turned her head aside, lifted the hem of Qin Xiyao’s clothes, and pressed their bare skin together.
Her gland throbbed twice.
The Omega’s pheromones drifted into her nose.
It smells so good.
Mu Baicheng buried her face against Qin Xiyao’s neck. The tip of her nose gently rubbed against the Omega’s gland.
Golden light flashed through Mu Baicheng’s eyes.
In an instant, every ice crystal covering Qin Xiyao disappeared.
Mu Baicheng behaved as though she were drunk, continuously nuzzling Qin Xiyao’s gland.
Golden light flickered in her eyes, looking as though it might disappear at any moment.
“Yaoyao, wait for me.”
“Wait for me, Yaoyao.”
The moment those words left her lips, Mu Baicheng’s eyes closed.
Just before they did, every trace of gold vanished from their depths…
