Who Says the Director Is Frigid? (Lily ABO) - Chapter 5
Xu Mengyan never imagined that she would have the opportunity to work alongside a master designer in her lifetime.
Even though she was merely the design department’s dedicated errand runner, she still felt honored to breathe the same air as such a master. Perhaps she could absorb some of the master’s creative aura and find herself overflowing with inspiration whenever she drew jewelry designs in the future.
What Xu Mengyan did not realize was that she had already done far more than breathe the same air as this master.
She had eagerly licked the master’s body—and spent that particular night chasing after the master’s hard, pillar-like cock with her mouth.
Han Shu led Bai Jingbing into the design department and introduced her once again.
Knowing she was merely the department’s lowly errand runner, Xu Mengyan did not dare compete for a place in the front row. She quietly hid in a corner and studied the legendary jewelry designer.
Xu Mengyan had seen photographs of Bai Jingbing in several magazine interviews, but the woman standing before her was even more beautiful. Her features appeared sharper and more sculpted in person.
Her figure was also better than it had appeared in photographs.
That day, she wore a dark-red Chanel-inspired tweed skirt suit. Beneath the cropped jacket was a white chiffon blouse with a small stand collar. Her slightly curled, shoulder-length hair was tucked behind one ear, revealing an elegant pair of simple pearl drop earrings.
The ensemble made her appear refined, noble, and graceful.
However, one thing about her was exactly the same as it appeared in photographs.
Director Bai was a living, moving iceberg.
Her tall figure possessed just the right amount of curves. Combined with heels at least three inches high, her already imposing two-meter aura instantly seemed to stretch five or six meters into the air.
Her eyes were particularly intimidating. They resembled an immense glacier beneath the Arctic sky, radiating distance and coldness. A single glance from her could instantly freeze someone where they stood.
Yet within that frozen world, Xu Mengyan glimpsed something resembling a clear, tranquil ocean hidden beneath the iceberg’s eyes. It possessed an exceptionally mysterious charm.
Bai Jingbing’s makeup was not deliberately heavy or intense. Her lipstick was approximately the same shade as President Han’s, yet instead of emphasizing a seductive glamour like Han Shu’s, it added an even colder beauty to her aloof presence.
Xu Mengyan’s gaze remained fixed on Bai Jingbing’s beautiful face.
She had no idea that she had already become the other woman’s prey.
After introducing Bai Jingbing to the design department, Han Shu departed as quickly as she had arrived, claiming she still had work to handle.
The employees were left awkwardly exchanging stares with their expressionless new director.
“We’ll have a meeting in half an hour. I want to know the current progress of every project.”
Bai Jingbing calmly issued her first order after assuming her position. Without waiting for anyone to respond, she turned and entered her office.
As she turned away, however, the corner of her eye flicked toward Xu Mengyan.
Inside the office, Bai Jingbing removed her jacket and hung it on the standing coat rack. She walked behind the desk and tested the expensive leather chair that Han Shu had mentioned purchasing especially for her.
It was reasonably comfortable.
She surveyed the office. Its interior design was almost identical to the brief description she had given Han Shu more than half a year ago.
Apparently, Han Shu had spent a considerable amount of money renovating the office according to her preferences just to lure her into working at Palm Pearl.
Bai Jingbing had assumed her first day would be somewhat dull.
She never imagined that the little scumbag Omega she had asked someone to investigate—without obtaining any results—would unexpectedly appear in Palm Pearl’s design department.
She noticed that when the little scumbag Omega first saw her, her expression remained perfectly calm. There was none of the panic Bai Jingbing had anticipated.
Although that night had been the Omega’s first time, was she naturally such a heartless scumbag?
Alphas were infamous for pulling out their cocks and immediately becoming heartless. Had this Omega simply come and become heartless?
Following the principle of refusing to move until her opponent did, Bai Jingbing behaved like a patient hunter. She calmly observed her prey, waiting to see what other tricks this little scumbag Omega intended to play.
One week later, the welcome banquet Han Shu organized for Bai Jingbing was held on Friday evening in the ballroom of a five-star hotel.
Han Shu even gave the entire company half a day off for the occasion. After the lunch break, the employees went home to dress and prepare for the banquet.
After all, the event was being held at a five-star hotel. Even lower-ranking employees who usually paid little attention to their appearance went home to change into something more presentable.
Following Bai Jingbing’s arrival at Palm Pearl, she had become the newest target of countless Omegas.
Some of the Omegas coveting her beauty did not even appear at work that morning. They took an additional half day off and placed themselves in the hands of professional stylists.
Consequently, the supposedly simple welcome banquet Han Shu had described became so extravagant that when she and Bai Jingbing arrived, they almost thought they had entered the wrong event.
Numerous male and female Omegas from the company were dressed to the nines, looking as though they were attending some grand gala.
Han Shu picked up a glass of red wine and took a small sip. Placing one hand dramatically over her chest, she lamented, “My status as the company’s most desirable single Alpha is in danger! Look at them. They’re all secretly staring at you!”
“The reason your position is in danger has nothing to do with me,” Bai Jingbing replied coldly. “It’s because you’re promiscuous, flirt with Omegas everywhere, and are clearly not suitable relationship material. That is why they’ve turned their attention to me.”
She did not spare a single glance for any of the Omegas looking in her direction.
“Oh, please! As if you aren’t promiscuous. Don’t forget that you slept with an Omega you met at a bar!”
Of all the subjects Han Shu could have mentioned, she had chosen to touch Bai Jingbing’s sore spot.
After observing Xu Mengyan over the past several days, Bai Jingbing discovered that the little scumbag Omega genuinely seemed not to recognize her.
Bai Jingbing could not believe that someone who had shared a one-night stand with her could repeatedly be summoned into her office, remain alone with her, and still behave as though she were facing an ordinary superior.
Xu Mengyan’s eyes never displayed the slightest disturbance. She handled everything professionally, unlike the other Omegas who secretly released their pheromones whenever they passed Bai Jingbing in an attempt to seduce her.
Speaking of pheromones, Bai Jingbing missed the pinecone fragrance from that night.
She desperately wanted to smell it again.
Eventually, Bai Jingbing reached a conclusion.
The little scumbag Omega had been drugged that night and slept with her while barely conscious. She had probably never clearly seen Bai Jingbing’s face.
Even with that explanation, however, Bai Jingbing remained angry and refused to remove the title of little scumbag Omega.
Who told her to run away immediately after waking up?
Was Bai Jingbing’s face that terrifying?
Or had she made the Omega so uncomfortable that night that Xu Mengyan had been determined to flee the moment she woke up without even leaving her contact information?
If that did not make her a scumbag Omega, then what did?
Resentment poured from Bai Jingbing’s eyes. Beneath the table, she stomped hard on Han Shu’s foot, crushing the other woman’s custom-made high heel as a way to vent her frustration.
Han Shu hissed in pain.
The secretary beside her immediately stepped forward and asked what had happened. Han Shu glared viciously at Bai Jingbing before waving dismissively and telling him she was fine.
She then ordered him to ensure that all the remaining arrangements were properly handled.
Han Shu had originally planned a joyful, dazzling celebration to welcome her best friend to Palm Pearl.
However, when Bai Jingbing learned of those plans, she stared coldly at Han Shu for an entire afternoon. Han Shu eventually lost to her overwhelming presence and hurriedly instructed her secretary to make changes.
Every flashy and unnecessary segment was removed. Only speeches from Han Shu and Bai Jingbing remained.
After arguing relentlessly, Han Shu managed to preserve a short introductory video that would play before Bai Jingbing stepped onto the stage. She had even forced the company’s advertising department to work overtime to edit it.
Han Shu also hired a photography team to take an entire series of professional photographs of Bai Jingbing. Some would appear in the video, while the others would be displayed on Palm Pearl’s website.
Since the photographs had a legitimate business purpose, Bai Jingbing could accept them. Her public image now represented Palm Pearl as well.
With the unnecessary segments removed, Bai Jingbing went onto the stage and finished reading her prepared speech. The host then announced the beginning of the banquet, and hotel servers entered with the first course.
Once around half the dishes had been served, Han Shu, Bai Jingbing, and the various department supervisors stood. Following Han Shu, they moved from table to table to toast the employees.
Palm Pearl was still expanding and currently had only around one hundred employees, including those working in its retail stores. Therefore, the welcome banquet occupied only approximately thirteen tables.
It was not long before Han Shu approached the design department’s table with Bai Jingbing’s arm linked through hers.
Everyone had already drunk enough for the alcohol to affect them, and each person’s cheeks carried a faint flush.
Bai Jingbing deliberately clinked her glass against Xu Mengyan’s. Noticing the redness on the Omega’s cheeks, she leaned closer while passing and murmured, “Didn’t I warn you not to drink too much when you’re outside?”
Before she could witness Xu Mengyan’s stunned reaction, Han Shu dragged her toward the next table.
Xu Mengyan blinked.
She had not drunk very much. The small amount of red wine in her hand was her third refill from the server, but all three servings combined would barely fill half a wineglass.
She did not believe she was drunk. Her face felt slightly warm at most, while her mind remained perfectly clear.
After pondering the matter blankly for several seconds, Xu Mengyan reached what she considered a clever conclusion.
Director Bai’s warning could not possibly have been directed at her. She must have been speaking to President Han.
President Han was the one who had drunk too much. Her entire face was bright red, and when she approached for the toast, Xu Mengyan could even smell alcohol on her.
As the banquet neared its end, several employees seemed determined to drink enough to bankrupt the company. They emptied multiple bottles of red wine and became thoroughly intoxicated.
Xu Mengyan left with the main group. She had stopped drinking alcohol later in the evening and consumed only water.
Since the journey home would take at least half an hour, she decided to visit the restroom before calling a car.
On the way there, she encountered the last person she wanted to see.
It was Chen Xing, the supervisor of the human resources department.
Not long after Xu Mengyan joined the company, Chen Xing began finding excuses to engage her in conversation. He frequently sent her private messages completely unrelated to work.
Xu Mengyan had spent two years as a corporate drone at her previous company and had been pursued by two or three Alphas during university. Chen Xing’s intentions were painfully obvious.
She had no interest in an office romance and felt absolutely no attraction toward him. The previous week, she had already told him explicitly that she was not interested.
However, Chen Xing behaved like one of those arrogant Alphas described in novels. He assumed that she was merely playing hard to get.
When she said she did not like him, it meant she secretly had feelings for him.
When she said no, it meant she wanted it.
Xu Mengyan had never encountered such an arrogant and shameless Alpha before.
Chen Xing had consumed a considerable amount of alcohol. He had been watching Xu Mengyan throughout the banquet.
He had taken an interest in her the moment she joined the company. She looked innocent and beautiful, with a full figure and slender waist. Although she was already twenty-five, she remained as fresh and youthful as a university student.
Chen Xing believed his charm and position within the company would be enough to win over a woman like her. Even if she did not genuinely like him, she should have accepted his invitations for the sake of his money.
Plenty of Alphas and Omegas in the company slept together after work, then continued behaving like ordinary colleagues the following day.
Yet after several unsuccessful invitations, Chen Xing decided that Xu Mengyan was simply pretending to be pure.
“Xiao Yan, where are you going?”
Controlled by the alcohol, Chen Xing stretched out an arm and blocked her path.
“To the restroom. Please let me pass, Supervisor Chen.”
Xu Mengyan took a breath. She did not want to cause a scene on such an occasion.
Chen Xing was a supervisor and was rumored to possess influential connections. Several Omegas he had harassed in the past had not dared to file complaints. As long as he did not go too far, they silently endured it.
“Sure. I’ll go with you.”
Chen Xing’s lust surged.
His heat was approaching, and the alcohol made him even bolder. He seized Xu Mengyan and dragged her into the Alpha restroom.
He had just emerged from there and knew it was empty. Therefore, he recklessly pulled the Omega inside, intending to conquer her by force.
Chen Xing pinned her against the sink and seized both her wrists before trying to kiss her.
Xu Mengyan desperately twisted her head from side to side to evade him and cried out in panic, “Let go of me! Supervisor Chen, no! Release me!”
“Mmm… You smell wonderful. Is that perfume, or are those your pheromones?”
Unable to reach her lips, Chen Xing lowered his mouth toward her neck.
Before his lips could touch her, however, someone behind him seized him with tremendous force and dragged him away.
He did not even have time to curse the person who had interrupted him.
The pointed toe of a high heel struck him squarely between his legs. An agonizing pain shot through both testicles as though they had been crushed.
Chen Xing clutched his groin and collapsed onto the floor, howling in pain.
Bai Jingbing grabbed Xu Mengyan’s wrist and pulled her outside.
After reaching a deserted corner, she pinned Xu Mengyan against the wall and trapped her chin between two fingers, forcing her face upward.
Her voice carried unmistakable anger.
“I warned you not to drink too much when you’re outside.”
“Director Bai… I didn’t. I only drank half a glass. After that, I drank nothing but water.”
Xu Mengyan was already frightened after being assaulted by Chen Xing. Why was Director Bai now misunderstanding her too?
Bai Jingbing’s dark, icy eyes studied the flush on her face. She leaned closer and sniffed.
The scent of alcohol was extremely faint. Bai Jingbing nearly had to bring her nose to Xu Mengyan’s lips before she could detect it.
“Could you… release me now? You’re hurting my wrist.”
Xu Mengyan twisted the wrist held tightly in Bai Jingbing’s hand.
For some reason, when Director Bai approached her, an intensely familiar feeling surged within her. The hot palm wrapped around her wrist felt especially familiar, inexplicably making her heart race.
“Hmph. No.”
Instead of releasing her, Bai Jingbing slipped an arm around Xu Mengyan’s waist and locked her tightly against her body.
“I’ve decided to arrest you today, little scumbag Omega.”
“What? Who are you calling a scumbag Omega?”
Xu Mengyan’s face was filled with confusion.
She was absolutely a faithful, morally upright Omega. When had she become a scumbag?
“Oh? It appears you genuinely don’t know who I am.”
Bai Jingbing’s voice turned dangerous.
“It doesn’t matter if you failed to see my face clearly that night, but you certainly inhaled plenty of my pheromones.”
She reached toward her neck and tore away her scent-blocking patch, deliberately releasing a trace of pheromones to awaken the scumbag Omega’s memories.
She refused to believe Xu Mengyan had forgotten even her scent!
An elegant plum-wine fragrance spread through the confined space.
It was unmistakably pleasant and clearly belonged to a high-ranking Alpha. To an ordinary Omega, the scent would act as an aphrodisiac powerful enough to make them immediately tear off their clothes and spread their legs.
To Xu Mengyan, however, it was a terrifying attack that shook her entire world.
Plum-wine pheromones!
Wasn’t that the scent of the Alpha who had fucked her throughout the entire night?!
That could not be possible!
She had believed that the mortifying scenario of discovering that one’s one-night stand was actually one’s superior existed only in novels.
How could it possibly happen to her?!
Bai Jingbing was extremely satisfied by the waves of terror appearing in Xu Mengyan’s large, innocent eyes. She also enjoyed watching her body tremble beneath the influence of the Alpha pheromones.
She truly resembled a rabbit about to be delivered into a tiger’s jaws.
Bai Jingbing tightened her embrace.
Her fingers quietly peeled back one corner of the scent-blocking patch on Xu Mengyan’s nape. The distinctive pinecone fragrance immediately curled around her nose like an old acquaintance.
Bai Jingbing greedily inhaled several breaths.
Her lips slowly approached Xu Mengyan’s ear, lightly brushing its rounded edge. Like a demon whispering temptation, she murmured, “It appears… you finally remember me, little scumbag Omega.”
