A Villainous Childhood Sweetheart At Four And A Half - Chapter 14
Holding Ning Song’s hand, Pei Hanying was still a little unused to it at first.
Only after the two of them had walked for some distance did she gradually get used to it.
She held the little girl’s hand as they walked in the direction of home, saying,
“Ning Song, don’t listen to anything he said just now.”
She paused, then spoke lightly,
“From now on, no one will bully you anymore.”
This sentence carried tremendous weight.
Even though both of them were only a few years old, they both knew that accomplishing this would not be easy.
But even if it was not easy, Pei Hanying still made the promise.
Perhaps from the first time she saw Ning Song, she had been destined to soften her heart toward her. Even after resisting it countless times in her heart, she still had not succeeded in the end.
Now that she had already brought her home and raised her for several days, watching Ning Song gradually turn into a soft, adorable child under care, if Pei Hanying had to stand by coldly again and watch her be bullied, she truly could not do it.
Since that was the case, then marking her as part of her own territory and protecting her was not too difficult either.
She had never softened her heart toward anyone like this before. Only Ning Song was the exception.
Pei Hanying thought that perhaps it was because Ning Song’s experiences were somewhat similar to hers in her previous life that she was willing to break her own bottom line again and again.
But in the end, when it came down to it, Ning Song was simply too obedient.
In the past, aside from flowers and plants, Pei Hanying had never been good at keeping any living thing alive.
Now that she had become the Pei family’s young miss, raising a person should not be a problem.
After thinking everything through, Pei Hanying squeezed Ning Song’s hand again.
The little girl’s hand was small. Although it did not have much flesh, it was still quite soft.
“Did you hear me?”
Hearing the voice beside her ear, Ning Song finally came back to herself from her daze.
She looked at Pei Hanying. The expression on the other girl’s face was no different from usual, and one could not tell at all that she had just said something so solemn.
Ning Song knew how difficult it would be to fulfill that promise.
But right now, she also could not quite figure out whether Pei Hanying had said it casually, or whether she was serious.
Ning Song did not understand.
In the end, under Pei Hanying’s gaze, she only nodded lightly and smiled naturally. “I heard you. Thank you, Yingying.”
Pei Hanying nodded reservedly and brought her home.
Only after returning home did she let go of the little girl’s hand. After lunch, she called Pei Yuan and told her about what had happened today.
After hearing the whole story, Pei Yuan asked from the other end, “Were you and Xiao Song hurt?”
Only after hearing Pei Hanying’s negative answer did she ask, “Have you thought it through? Pei Hanying, Ning Song is a person, not some little cat or dog. If you want to raise her, then you have to be responsible for her. Not for one year, not for two years, but for many years.”
Pei Hanying had long since prepared herself mentally, but after hearing these words, her heart still hesitated for a moment in the end.
She pressed her lips together. After a long while, she finally said in a low voice, “Mommy, let me think about it properly again.”
Pei Yuan stopped there, respecting Pei Hanying’s thoughts and also knowing that she had her own ideas.
She only said, “I’ll send someone to handle Ning Cheng’s side. You two rest well at home. Don’t catch a cold when you go out.”
The mother and daughter chatted briefly for a few more sentences before hanging up.
Ning Song was taking an afternoon nap in her room. After Pei Hanying hung up the phone, she instantly collapsed limply onto the sofa, looking somewhat weak and drained.
She puffed her cheeks slightly, then finally let out a heavy sigh.
What Pei Yuan said was not wrong. If she truly decided to bring Ning Song into the Pei family, then she would have to be responsible for her for at least ten-plus years.
Even if Ning Song looked obedient now, no one knew what she would become after growing up.
Thinking of this, she could not help sighing again.
But Ning Song just so happened to be the villain who would turn dark in the original book.
Should she believe in Ning Song, or believe in the original plot?
Pei Hanying lay sprawled on the bed and felt like she was a little dead.
How about… raising her for now and seeing how it went?
Given Ning Song’s body, it would probably take some time for her to fully recover.
She could decide after spending more time with her.
After making her decision, Pei Hanying did not continue struggling over it.
She climbed up in one swift motion and went to Ning Song’s room to look at her.
The little girl was sleeping very soundly. Her sleeping face was peaceful, her long lashes lowered, and her whole face looked soft, adorable, and cute.
Seeing her sleep so sweetly, Pei Hanying also felt a little sleepy.
Should she go upstairs to sleep, or sleep in Ning Song’s room?
Pei Hanying only struggled with this question for one second before immediately getting an answer.
She thought, rather confidently, They had already slept together twice. What was wrong with sleeping together a few more times?
It was not easy to meet a beautiful child who loved cleanliness and understood manners.
Pei Hanying took off her clothes and crawled under the blanket.
Before falling asleep, there had originally still been some distance between her and Ning Song, but after a while, Pei Hanying thought about it and moved closer to Ning Song. She discovered that, sure enough, even while sleeping, the girl’s hands and feet were still icy cold.
Pei Hanying hugged her, closed her eyes, and soon fell asleep.
When she woke up, it was already past three.
After each of them drank a bottle of hot milk, Pei Hanying brought Ning Song to her precious flower room.
The temperature in the flower room was just right, and the flowers were blooming brilliantly and beautifully.
Seeing Ning Song standing at the doorway, surprised enough that her lips parted slightly, Pei Hanying felt somewhat proud. She leaned close to Ning Song and asked with a bright smile,
“I grew all of these myself. Aren’t I amazing?”
Ning Song looked at her and nodded very seriously.
“Yingying is the most amazing.”
The corners of Pei Hanying’s lips lifted. She was very pleased by this praise.
In the end, she still said very reservedly, “Actually, it’s all right. Growing these isn’t hard.”
Ning Song insisted, “Yingying is very amazing.”
Looking at the seriousness on her soft, fair little face, Pei Hanying could not hold back her smile.
She curved her lips, pinched Ning Song’s cheek, and asked,
“Ning Song, why are you so cute?”
Hearing her words, under Pei Hanying’s gaze, Ning Song’s cheeks turned crimson bit by bit.
Her lashes fluttered lightly. She lowered them, hiding the shyness in her eyes. She wanted to say something, but her mouth seemed to have been sealed shut with glue.
Yingying praised her for being cute…
This was the first time Ning Song had heard someone she liked praise her for being cute.
Even her heartbeat began to grow uncontrollable, as if countless butterflies had grown inside her and were about to burst through her chest.
A few seconds later, Ning Song answered in a very low voice,
“I’m not that cute.”
Pei Hanying looked at her flushed cheeks, tilted her head, and smiled brightly. She also copied her tone from earlier.
“But Little Cat is very cute.”
Ning Song’s ears were practically steaming. She muttered in a low voice, “No.”
Pei Hanying watered the camellia beside her. After waiting for the water droplets to soak into the soil, she pretended to be surprised and said,
“I said Little Cat is cute. I wasn’t talking about you.”
Ning Song pursed her lips, then loosened them again, and lightly glared at Pei Hanying.
“But I am Little Cat.”
She still remembered that when Pei Hanying picked her up and brought her back that day, that was what she had called her.
Although she did not know why she was being called that. Clearly, she did not have ears or a tail, and she could not meow either.
Pei Hanying smoothly went along with it. “All right, then.”
“Then Little Cat is cute.”
She was still praising her for being cute.
Ning Song did not speak. She crouched in the corner and pulled out the weeds growing in the pot, like a little mushroom that had been bullied.
Pei Hanying nearly failed to hold back her laughter.
