Chapter 34.1
In truth, in Ye Xingran’s eyes, that thin layer of muscle on Wei Xuejin could hardly be called abs.
It would be more accurate to describe it as a soft waist carved from the finest mutton-fat jade, a tempting piece for a collector.
It was only a deep, old scar on her abdomen that marred the aesthetic, which was truly a pity.
Ye Xingran gazed at the scar for a long moment before withdrawing her gaze; she naturally wasn’t going to follow the woman’s lead and engage in “reciprocity” at a time like this.
It was early morning, and she didn’t want anything to happen.
The harsh words she had spoken just now were merely an irresistible urge to teach her a lesson, so she wouldn’t flirt with an Alpha so easily.
Even though her pheromones were quite honest, and her gaze was deep, appearing ready to strike.
Perhaps because she had just dealt with those people outside, her pheromones were still extremely active, faintly coiling around the Omega, restless and completely beyond her control.
Ye Xingran truly felt that this was a form of torment, leaving her unable to advance or retreat.
At the same time, she felt a flicker of annoyance; she suspected Wei Xuejin might truly have very little gender awareness, which was why she tolerated an Alpha like her doing so much to her.
If she was this generous with her, would she be the same with others?
The moment that thought arose, she felt she couldn’t stand it, even feeling a slight urge to kill.
“What? You don’t want to? Didn’t you want to add interest?”
Ye Xingran turned around, hardening her heart to leave so they could both cool down.
But her hand was grabbed from behind by the Omega, lingeringly; the palm brought an itch, as if she truly craved Ye Xingran’s reciprocity and wouldn’t mind if she charged extra interest.
She simply hadn’t realized the danger hidden in those words earlier.
Ye Xingran looked back at her and saw that her mind still didn’t seem clear. With a sigh, she flipped her palm to grab the woman’s hand, pulled her up, and ruthlessly slammed her against the wall. Her eyes revealed the ferocity and determination characteristic of an Alpha hunting prey as she kissed her lips hard and gave her waist a firm squeeze—
The strength was not small; she could even hear the Omega in her arms let out a muffled groan.
She seemed to be in pain.
Being in pain was exactly right; Ye Xingran wanted her to hurt so she would learn her lesson.
She stared into her eyes, which were close at hand and beginning to brim with moisture. Her palm covered the hem of the woman’s clothes, her strength restrained. She had decided to show her the real thing, while the ferocity in the depths of her eyes surged out alongside a constant stream of desire.
But an Alpha is always cruel and has no intention of letting the prey have an easy time.
…
Thus, in the spacious bathroom, faint whimpers gradually began to sound, accompanied by the blush-inducing sound of ambiguous moisture that lingered for a long time.
Gu Yun had already cleared up yesterday’s events. Thinking that the investigation results were truly shocking, she brought the report to find Wei Xuejin early in the morning, wanting to tell her quickly so she could make a decision.
Some things truly couldn’t be delayed!
But before she could knock on the door, she sensed something was wrong and even heard some blurred dialogue:
“Auntie, do you still think I’m a good person… I’m an Alpha, don’t trust me so easily…”
The voice, though muffled, carried a deep hoarseness, like a restrained beast hesitating to bite through the prey’s throat.
Gu Yun’s hand paused as she went to knock; she almost wanted to push the door open and see if her President was actually being bullied.
However, Ye Xingran was more cautious than she imagined. She sensed a wave of pressure seeping from the door crack; even without smelling the pheromones, the instinct surfaced: this was an Alpha marking her territory. Anyone who dared step into her domain at this time would die.
…Fine then.
She’s just a little Alpha who looks good but is useless. If she were really that powerful, she wouldn’t have fled in panic after failing to kiss for fifteen minutes at the hotel before.
She’s just a “flowery pillow” (all style, no substance); their President Wei is much more capable than her.
So, Gu Yun ultimately did not intrude but went to the study to wait.
Another hour passed in waiting. Wei Xuejin entered, fully dressed. No emotion could be seen on her face, except for a deep cut on her lip and the fact that her walking was a bit slow, as if she were uncomfortable somewhere.
Gu Yun glanced at her boss once and didn’t dare look again. She had always known her boss was beautiful. If it weren’t for the blandness of her face washing out many details, she would be an Omega with a highly aggressive beauty, the kind that would drive all Alphas crazy.
But now, through the Alpha’s “embellishment,” a tip of the iceberg was revealed. Her earlobes were slightly redder than usual, like a final touch of paint that completely lit up the bland and cold Omega before her.
Brilliant, vivid, and making one afraid to approach.
Ye Xingran followed. She was still in her usual style, her pink hair soft and smooth, slightly damp. She wore a black-purple two-piece halter T-shirt that fully displayed her collarbones, which were perfectly shaped.
There was also a cut on her lip, appearing quite similar to hers.
An Omega and an Alpha, both looking a bit “out of this world.” So this was… the little Alpha finally acted like an “A” for once.
So… how far did the “attack” go?
I have to say, this.
“Special Assistant Gu, you may begin.”
Wei Xuejin sat down and wasted no time, speaking directly.
She definitely had to find out the truth about yesterday, because clearly, the target was her, and they had involved the Trade Festival of an entire university.
From another perspective, the other party had spent a lot of money to deal with her, which made one curious about their objective.
In fact, if Ye Xingran hadn’t come to save her yesterday, she likely wouldn’t have had an accident.
Forget about the outside being a dragon’s den; the Wei family itself was a man-eating pit. Few who came out of it unscathed were easy to mess with.
Since Wei Xuejin could sit in this highest position, how could she not have means of self-preservation?
Yet it was this fool Ye Xingran who risked her life to save her, making her feel cared for and valued for the first time in her life.
Not for any purpose, but simply for her alone.
How could her heart not be shaken?
Although, she still couldn’t quite understand her risking her life like that. Just like in the bathroom earlier, the girl said she wanted to teach her a lesson and told her she wasn’t a good person and to be wary.
But what did it matter if she was a good person or a bad person? It was enough as long as she could make her feel something.
“President Wei, what can be confirmed is that the entire incident is related to Madam Mingmei’s son.”
Gu Yun was concise, presenting the investigation results first.
“Mhm.” Wei Xuejin did not offer an opinion but waited for her to continue.
Ye Xingran, listening to the results, was somewhat surprised. She had thought Wei Mingmei did it, but it turned out to be her son?
Wei Mingmei’s son was named Wei Xiwen, an Omega. He was a spoiled Omega who was incompetent and relied on Wei Mingmei’s protection to act like a tyrant within the Wei family, committing countless misdeeds.
His biological father was unknown, but Wei Mingmei didn’t care. Wei Xiwen was her only son. Since she hadn’t been able to climb to the position of the Wei family’s supreme leader, she was naturally dissatisfied. On one hand, she bided her time and maintained a good relationship with Wei Xuejin; on the other, she wanted her son to grow up and lend her a hand.
In any case, many in the Wei Group were dissatisfied with Wei Xuejin. Even the “Old Matriarch” of the Wei family had publicly called her a monster and said she didn’t look like an Omega at all, hating her deeply.
The Old Matriarch’s words made it clear: if they had the ability, they were welcome to replace Wei Xuejin in managing the Wei Group; she would have no objections.
Therefore, over the years, Wei Mingmei had been gathering her strength, waiting for her son to grow up and enter the company to help her.
But her son was very disappointing. Even with so many resources, he couldn’t be propped up. He only knew how to eat, drink, and have fun. Every task assigned to him was botched. Placing hope in him was equivalent to throwing money into the salt-water sea.
But Wei Mingmei was still unwilling to give up. She gave her son plenty of resources, including a medium-sized pharmaceutical factory, hoping he could use some drug patents to produce suppressants and build a career.
At least then he could gain a foothold in the Wei Group, and Wei Xuejin wouldn’t be able to do anything to him.
Unfortunately, her son remained disappointing. He was deceived by a group of new “fox-and-dog friends” (bad influences) and used money to invest in a new drug that was already circulating on the black market.
One of those bad friends was actually quite powerful, belonging to a very distant branch of the Ye family. Perhaps because he liked Wei Xiwen or something else, knowing he had been kicked out of the group and was depressed and constantly lectured by Wei Mingmei, receiving no warmth…
Combined with the fact that the newly developed drug hadn’t been tested yet, they took a risk, tracked Wei Xuejin’s movements, and planned their revenge.
It must be said that this branch of the Ye family was quite clever. Yesterday’s plan was fairly successful, causing a major disturbance at the Trade Festival and flooding the hospital’s ABO emergency shelters, which still haven’t recovered.
It was truly terrifying.
“…That’s roughly the gist of it.”
Gu Yun gave the report to Wei Xuejin. Luckily she had prepared two copies; she wanted to give the other to Ye Xingran, but Wei Xuejin glanced at her. “Come and read with me.”
“No, I prefer to read a copy on my own.” Saying that, Ye Xingran reached out and took the copy from Gu Yun’s hand.
Wei Xuejin looked at her, pursed her lips, but ultimately said nothing and returned her focus to the matter at hand.
Wei Xiwen… was actually dispensable in the company now. The Wei Group never kept useless people. Before she took power, eight out of ten people were there through nepotism, taking up positions without doing any work. They botched many projects the Wei Group originally had an advantage in; even with a massive estate, it wouldn’t have lasted long.
The Old Matriarch knew the internal flaws well, but she was aging and her health wasn’t great. She thought it was time to hand over power to the younger generation to carry out drastic reforms, letting the capable lead.
This allowed Wei Xuejin to stand out, gradually build her own power, and finally take the position of the head of the Wei Group.
However, once her position was stable, people’s hearts began to wander. Former losers or biding powers like Wei Mingmei started to grow restless.
They let her son do foolish things without interfering.
“President Wei, is it necessary to call a meeting to [deal with] Madam Mingmei…”
“Get out of my way! I want to see Wei Xuejin!”
Such a major event had happened within the group, alarming the police and people from all walks of life; it had hit the trending searches repeatedly. It was naturally impossible to suppress it.
Although most of the public didn’t know the truth and Wei Xuejin was indeed a victim, the prohibited drugs used yesterday still had to be thoroughly investigated to cut off the source; otherwise, the consequences would be unimaginable.
Gu Yun was more concerned with how Wei Xuejin would decide—
However, she had barely spoken a few words when Wei Mingmei’s high-pitched voice came from outside. A very strong aura followed. Ye Xingran had been silent on the side, only reading the report and listening to their conversation.
Now, sensing this Alpha pressure which was clearly provocative, and remembering that Wei Xuejin had just been “bullied” by her not long ago, she almost without thinking stood in front of Wei Xuejin to protect her. At the same time, she released her own pressure to intimidate the other party.
What she didn’t know was that the fluffy creature on her shoulder also jumped in front of Wei Xuejin, tugged at her fingertip, and rubbed its fluffy cheek against her, appearing somewhat eager to please.
Wei Xuejin was actually in a fairly good mood, even though she had been “bullied” quite badly by Ye Xingran in the bathroom.
But she had enjoyed it.
Ye Xingran didn’t know the true meaning of her calling herself a “monster.” She had no human emotions—or rather, very few human emotions; she truly couldn’t feel them.
She faced everything with indifference, never taking it to heart.
But after being a monster for so long, she also wanted to try being a normal person.
She had kissed her the first time they met just to see if such a direct method could make her produce some emotions, because she saw the fluffy creature on the girl’s shoulder, and that creature seemed capable of making her feel something different.
She didn’t know why.
She could only give it a good try to see what was going on.
That was why she did a series of strange things to Ye Xingran.
And all her experience in getting close to her came from Chu Luoyun.
Even if she had never expected anything from an AO relationship before and didn’t think Chu Luoyun’s hobby of moving through flowers without a leaf sticking was good, she had indeed been slightly influenced by her.
Through subtle influence, she knew how to show joy or produce intense emotions toward an Alpha who interested her.
Sure enough, she did feel human emotions, even if she still couldn’t be a perfectly normal person.
But she could indeed feel joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness, all coming from Ye Xingran.
They were transmitted to her through that peculiar and cute fluffy creature.
And earlier in the bathroom… she had actually felt even more.
Calling it “Ice and Fire Double Heavens” would not be an exaggeration.
What the little Alpha did to her was entirely different from what she thought… or the emotions surging within her. On the surface, she was extremely fierce and bullied her ruthlessly to teach her a lesson, but in reality, the fluffy creature on her shoulder had its entire face—down to the tip of its nose—turn red. Hearts and hot air constantly popped from its head; the entire creature was beyond embarrassed.
Transmitted to her, it made her feel… the little Alpha treating her mercilessly right now was truly divided. Isn’t she tired of acting?
Clearly… she was even shyer than her.
Yet she insisted on wearing a fierce skin to intimidate her.
It was inexplicably cute.
However, her distraction was quickly noticed, and the emotion in the girl’s eyes grew even more unhappy. Then… she “bullied” her even more “viciously,” to the point where… in the end, the little Alpha even had to help her change her clothes.
But her body… was truly like a monster’s body. Perhaps she was the incarnation of a monster. If they truly met with total honesty, it would surely scare this shy little Alpha.
That would truly be a loss.
She didn’t want that.
She was so cute and interesting; she hadn’t had enough fun yet.
So in the end, she changed her clothes herself and dressed neatly to leave.
Then she saw the little Alpha’s face turn sour, while the fluffy creature on her shoulder looked dazed, which made her find it a bit funny again.
Wei Xuejin had spent a long time controlling people’s hearts. She had never seen the true form of a human heart. If they all looked as cute as this fluffy creature, she wouldn’t mind seeing more.
So, she also put on a “pouting” (?) look and walked ahead, ignoring Ye Xingran, starting a little spat with her.
