After Being Coaxed And Seduced By A Yandere Omega Heartthrob - Chapter 6
Most of Song Zhao’s meager belongings were kept in the maids’ quarters at the manor. Normally, she would first return to her room to wash up and get herself ready, then come back to Sylvia’s room to sleep.
Although the end result was the same, being told to bathe here was a first.
Remembering that there weren’t any clothes of hers in this room, Song Zhao couldn’t help asking, “Syl, can I go back to my room first and get a change of—”
Before she could finish, Sylvia turned and pointed toward the storage cabinet on the wall—the same one Song Zhao had taken her bathrobe from not long ago.
“You can wear mine for now. I’ll have someone go to your room and bring your pajamas over later.”
“There are clean towels and toothbrushes inside too. Use whatever you want.”
Song Zhao rubbed her nose, feeling slightly unaccustomed to the arrangement, but ultimately agreed.
The moment the door closed, the enormous bathroom was left with only her—and the warmth Sylvia had left behind.
Sylvia was sensitive to the cold. Water that would feel slightly too hot to other people was just right for her, so every time she finished bathing, her skin would be steamed into a breathtaking layer of pink, her entire body wrapped from head to toe in the floral fragrances she liked.
Among those scents, roses were the most common, very similar to her own pheromones.
As a Beta, Song Zhao naturally couldn’t smell Sylvia’s actual pheromones. Everything she knew about them came from the original novel.
Unfortunately, too much time had passed, and she hadn’t exactly studied this 24-karat-pure smutty girls’ love novel, whose non-explicit content probably took up no more space than a fingernail.
She only remembered the general outline.
Three hundred years ago, after a geomagnetic storm, humanity collectively evolved glands. A very small portion of the population gained the ability to release and perceive pheromones, while their intelligence, physical strength, and sexual attractiveness all improved significantly.
From then on, as long as their secondary genders differed, even same-sex couples could conceive children together.
These people were later classified as Alphas and Omegas.
But the majority were still Betas, who were no different from humans before the “evolution.”
Pheromones contained varying levels of mental power, divided according to strength into five ranks, from S to D.
A long time ago, Song Zhao had read an industry survey in the newspaper. Apparently, the higher someone’s mental-power rank, the more likely they were to become one of the people standing at the very top of the pyramid in almost any profession.
Even though society had spent years emphasizing equality, and obvious flattery and discrimination had indeed decreased, privately, most people still worshiped rank.
It was the same everywhere, from school to the wider world.
After carefully removing her formal clothes and folding them neatly, Song Zhao temporarily placed them on a chair, then walked barefoot back behind the glass door.
It was almost as though the bathroom had been divided into two worlds.
Everything Song Zhao had sensed outside the frosted door intensified the moment she stepped into the shower area.
The damp steam.
The warm, heavy scent of roses.
The mirror blurred by white mist.
And…
Her gaze lowered.
Inside a completely transparent laundry basket against the wall lay the black underwear Sylvia had casually tossed in.
Good heavens.
Was she really this unconcerned about treating Song Zhao like an outsider?
Song Zhao hastily looked away and decided she needed a cold shower to clear her head.
Compared with Sylvia, Song Zhao’s idea of “taking a bath” was basically just getting herself wet and then drying off again.
There were too few hours in the day and too many things she needed to do, so tasks like eating and bathing were shortened whenever possible.
As long as she ended up clean, that was enough.
After finishing her shower, Song Zhao wrapped herself tightly in a bathrobe, still uncomfortable with the almost bare feeling underneath.
Fortunately, just as she finished, a coworker happened to be waiting outside the door with her clothes.
Seeing the teasing curiosity on the other woman’s face, Song Zhao—who had only poked her head out—felt like crying.
Taking advantage of the fact that the young lady couldn’t see them, the coworker exaggerated her lip movements, her features practically flying around with excitement:
Has Miss taken a liking to you? When you make it big, don’t forget about me!
Song Zhao snatched the clothes from her.
The bathrobe hadn’t been tied properly, and the collar fell open, exposing her collarbone, reddened because she had forgotten to adjust the water temperature.
Stop talking nonsense. Nothing happened between us.
But then she noticed her coworker’s gaze suddenly stop on her body.
Those almond-shaped eyes curved into an “obscene” squint, looking uncannily like a ridiculous smirking emoji.
Song Zhao immediately had a bad feeling.
She looked down.
Sure enough, there was the bite mark Sylvia had left on her collarbone.
Guiltily, she pulled the bathrobe shut.
Without waiting for another question, she grabbed her clothes and hurried back into the “safe room.”
By the time she changed and came out, the quiet bedroom once again contained only her and Sylvia.
The quartz clock pointed to eleven thirty.
Outside, the moon was bright and only a few stars were visible. Indoors, the temperature and humidity were perfect.
Ideal sleeping weather.
Song Zhao’s gaze moved toward the beanbag chair—more precisely, the “bed” she slept on.
Sylvia had also changed into pajamas and was quietly curled up there in a daze.
She had even pulled Song Zhao’s blanket over her thighs.
The warm-toned light in the room draped softly over her like fur. Her silk-like silver hair caught a thin golden edge, making her resemble a halo of moonlight.
The vivid red mole disappeared beneath her lifted eyelid.
Sylvia noticed her.
Those misty blue eyes, rippling like water, turned directly toward Song Zhao. Her gaze softened slightly, as though she had something to say.
She shifted to one side and lightly patted the empty space with her right hand.
“Come sit.”
Song Zhao instinctively glanced toward the long sofa by the floor-to-ceiling windows.
Whenever she and Sylvia happened to sit together, that was usually where they went.
Not…
this place in front of her, which could barely fit two people.
They were definitely going to touch, right?
Thinking that, Song Zhao sat down with extreme caution, leaving as much distance as possible between herself and the Omega.
The consequence was that nearly half her butt was hanging off the edge.
Her expression, however, remained perfectly composed.
Following proper servant etiquette, she turned without hesitation and looked directly into Sylvia’s eyes.
A distant yet soft blue.
Restrained and subdued, but not cold.
Clear like morning mist that had yet to disperse.
It was practically the cleanest color in the world.
Miss Blue Eyes’ lashes fluttered silently, as though she were making one final internal adjustment before speaking.
Before she did, Song Zhao caught the familiar scent of roses in the tiny space around the chair.
Except this time, even she couldn’t tell whether it came from Sylvia or from herself.
They smelled exactly the same now.
Her gaze rested on the clean line of the Omega’s lips.
After a long while, Song Zhao finally saw them part.
“Were you talking about me with Sister Song Lian just now?”
Song Zhao froze slightly.
So she hadn’t escaped after all.
“Y-Yeah.”
Then she hurriedly added, a little embarrassed, “But I wasn’t saying anything bad about you! There are just some things about you, and about Omegas, that I don’t understand very well, so I had to ask her.”
She tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear, explaining herself as thoroughly as possible.
But Sylvia smiled.
“It’s fine. And you could actually ask me directly. I don’t mind.”
Thinking about what she had done earlier that day, the girl’s face showed exactly the right amount of hurt and embarrassment.
“I’m sorry about what happened today. Yalos and I have a very high pheromone compatibility. As long as she wants to, I can enter a false heat at any time. I can’t control what I do in that state. I really didn’t mean to do those things to you…”
As she spoke, her gaze dropped to the mark that still hadn’t faded from Song Zhao’s collarbone.
It looked almost like a mark belonging to her.
Sylvia turned her eyes away and continued in a soft, fragile voice.
“But I still want to thank you. If you hadn’t helped me get her to leave, I can’t even imagine what might have happened afterward.”
A trace of surprise flashed through Song Zhao’s eyes.
According to the heroine’s personality in the original novel, she was the type to swallow everything herself no matter how serious or trivial it was.
There was absolutely no reason for her to tell Song Zhao something like this.
Especially when the other person involved in the “incident” was Yalos, the future mistress of the manor and Sylvia’s nominal older sister.
Sylvia unfolded the legs she had tucked in front of herself, disturbing the thin blanket over her.
She tried to maintain her usual gentle expression.
She failed.
“But if something like this happens again, you should stay out of it. Back then, I—”
Noticing that her voice had sharpened from emotion, she paused and calmed herself before finishing.
“I was too confused and too scared. There was no one around who could help me except you. Thinking about it afterward, I almost got you fired.”
The Omega’s shoulders were thin.
They trembled faintly like the fragile wings of a helpless butterfly, as though she had remembered something unpleasant.
Half of it was an act.
The other half was genuine emotion.
On the night Song Zhao officially replaced Song Lian, Sylvia dreamed that she was actually the heroine of an erotic novel.
Her stepsister Yalos would confess to her during the birthday banquet and force herself on her.
But not only would Sylvia fail to resist, she would soon afterward fall in love with Yalos as though she had been cursed.
But how could that possibly be true?
She had always regarded Yalos as her own biological sister.
How could she ever have feelings like that for her?
Yet today, Yalos really had suddenly barged in and cornered her against the wall.
The servants around them had inexplicably disappeared.
The whiskey pheromones of a top-tier Alpha had surrounded her from all sides.
Even the words Yalos said were identical to those in the dream.
Sylvia wanted to resist.
She wanted to grab the vase within reach and smash it against Yalos’s head hard enough to make her come to her senses.
But her body had felt as though invisible threads had tied up her limbs and torso, controlling her and forcing her to make the exact same movements she had seen in the dream.
It seemed as though her fate really had already been written.
At that moment, Sylvia felt warmth against her back.
Song Zhao’s palm, still warm from her shower, gently rubbed over her back in a comforting motion.
The faint soap scent on Song Zhao’s pajamas reached Sylvia’s nose.
Strangely, her crumpled heart seemed to be smoothed flat by someone’s hand.
When she turned her head, she noticed Song Zhao’s shoulder close beside her.
Suddenly, she wanted to lean against it.
Song Zhao, meanwhile, was racking her brain for ways to comfort her and didn’t notice the change in Sylvia’s gaze at all.
Her voice was as soft as when she comforted her little sister at home, even though she was actually a year younger than the Omega.
“You don’t need to worry. If Miss Yalos wants to make me leave, Madam will be the first one to object.”
At worst, Yalos might just find someone to make trouble for her…
Probably?
Song Zhao wrinkled her nose.
Truthfully, she really hadn’t thought that far at the time.
It was already late at night, and Song Zhao could see the deep exhaustion on Sylvia’s face.
After finishing her comforting speech, she prepared to turn off the lights and sleep.
She sent Sylvia back to bed, then went out to the balcony and hauled in the big fat carrot plush that had been sun-dried until it was warm and soft.
She placed it beside Sylvia’s pillow like a treasure.
Sylvia, who had absolutely not expected her to do this, showed a flash of astonishment.
Then it transformed into something much more complicated.
Hm?
What’s wrong?
Song Zhao proudly lifted her chin, her entire face practically begging for praise.
Sylvia said, “.”
“Th-Thank you.”
The Omega forced out a fake smile.
Song Zhao didn’t notice.
The room was darkened until only one small night-light remained.
As usual, Song Zhao put on her sleep mask and lay down on the beanbag chair.
She still had school tomorrow morning.
She really needed to sleep early.
Sylvia, meanwhile, hugged the carrot and continued staring blankly at the ceiling until late into the night, when soft, steady breathing drifted up from below the bed.
Song Zhao was probably asleep.
Sylvia had been holding everything in for a very long time.
An unknown number of “main love interests.”
A body over which she could lose control.
A plot she apparently couldn’t avoid.
Every single one of those things was fraying her nerves.
And then there was Song Zhao—
someone she didn’t seem to have seen in her dreams at all, yet who had genuinely helped her change the plot.
Was it because Song Zhao wasn’t important to this “story,” and therefore never appeared in the dreams?
Or was there some other reason?
Sylvia couldn’t figure it out.
She tossed and turned, unable to sleep.
The frustration in her chest, combined with the lingering pleasure left behind by the mingling of pheromones, kept her restless.
Originally, she had planned to act a little more pitiful and smoothly ask Song Zhao to come sleep with her tonight.
But Song Zhao had launched into one comforting speech after another without giving her any chance to speak.
And in the end, she had even shoved that stupid carrot at her as a substitute!
The Omega kicked the carrot away.
Then, holding her blanket, she quietly climbed out of bed.
By the faint light at the bedside, she silently came to stand at Song Zhao’s feet.
