After Teasing the aloof Arch-Nemesis Omega - Chapter 11
Her ending tone lifted, and her eyes carried an openly mischievous amusement.
Fang Zhijin found it interesting. After all, in the dream, her relationship with Yu Yunlan could be described as very cold. They barely had any interaction, and the other girl had certainly never specially said such things to her.
Seeing that after Fang Zhijin said that line about asking for a reward, Yu Yunlan’s jaw tightened slightly and her whole person looked even colder and more indifferent, Fang Zhijin seemed satisfied at last and turned to leave.
When she returned to the private room, Yuan Qiaoqiao had originally been playing with her communicator. As soon as she raised her head and saw Fang Zhijin, she impatiently shared some jokes she had just seen online.
Jiang Wan, however, quietly glanced at the two people who came out.
Was it an illusion? Why did the atmosphere feel a little strange?
Knock, knock.
A gentle knock sounded at the door, indicating that a server was about to enter the private room.
It happened to be mealtime. Several servers timed it perfectly and brought in the dishes one after another.
It was a small round table. Even with four people seated, there was still some space between them.
Fang Zhijin sat directly opposite Yu Yunlan, neither to the left nor the right. It was a position where they could see each other as soon as they raised their heads.
While the dishes were being served, Yuan Qiaoqiao suddenly thought of something. She lightly slapped her thigh and said, “Right, I just remembered. We haven’t added Yu Yunlan as a friend yet, have we?”
She activated her communicator and opened the add-friend mode, blinking. “Why don’t we add each other?”
Once the communicator’s friend mode was activated, the two communicators only needed to touch.
Although Yu Yunlan had a cold personality, she would not refuse this kind of thing from a roommate. After all, they might still have to get along in the future.
She lowered her eyes, opened her communicator, and touched it against theirs. From beginning to end, Fang Zhijin watched from the side, seemingly with no intention of joining in.
With a faint vibration, the friend request was successfully added.
She added Yuan Qiaoqiao and Jiang Wan. Her movements paused for a moment. Two seconds later, she was about to turn off her communicator.
At that moment, a fair, slender wrist with a bony elegance appeared in her field of vision.
It was Fang Zhijin.
She propped her chin up with one hand, her whole posture lazy and noble. She looked at Yu Yunlan with a smiling expression, hiding a wickedness that only Yu Yunlan could glimpse.
She deliberately said, “Wait a moment, Classmate Yu. You seem to have forgotten me.”
Yu Yunlan’s movement stopped midair, and she met the other girl’s eyes.
In the end, she used the communicator on her wrist to touch Fang Zhijin’s communicator.
Almost the very second they touched, Fang Zhijin’s wrist seemed to move unintentionally. The point of contact between their wrists shifted, changing from the communicators touching to their skin brushing against each other before quickly separating.
The entire process was extremely brief. The soft, warm sensation appeared and vanished in an instant.
When their skin brushed past each other, a ticklish feeling came through. The communicator vibrated, meaning the friend request had been successfully added.
At that moment, the vibration felt like an electric current, spreading from her wrist to other places.
Yu Yunlan’s fingertips could not help curling inward. She knew the other girl had done it on purpose.
She had clearly added the others just now too, yet only their skin had touched.
She caught sight of the interest on Fang Zhijin’s face.
Ever since the last time she saw Fang Zhijin at the racetrack, certain wicked sides of Fang Zhijin had begun to be even less concealed in front of her.
She should have hated this kind of hypocritical, inconsistent Alpha, yet the swelling feeling in her heart made her somewhat flustered.
Inside the private room, the atmosphere was quiet. Yu Yunlan’s face showed no expression. Her features were naturally cold and distant, so when she was stunned like this, it actually looked very much as if she were repulsed or disgusted by something.
Yuan Qiaoqiao did not know about the small detail from earlier. When she raised her head, she happened to see Yu Yunlan’s expression, and her heart gave a jolt.
Hm?
No way. That expression… Could Yu Yunlan really dislike Fang Zhijin that much?
A server at the side broke this strange atmosphere.
“The dishes have all been served. Dear guests, please enjoy your meal. If you need anything, please press this red button.”
After saying that, the servers withdrew one by one.
This restaurant’s specialty was mainly Western cuisine, especially steak. It had a five-star chef from Domain A overseeing it, so the taste was very good.
The wealthy families of Domain A had all learned various forms of dining etiquette, and when it came to cutting steak, they preferred doing it themselves. After all, they could cut it to the size they liked.
But Yu Yunlan had never learned how to use this kind of knife and fork in Domain D. She lowered her eyes, already thinking in her mind about how she should try using them later.
Her learning ability was very strong, but when it came to things she had never encountered before, she still needed some time to adapt. This meant she would inevitably reveal a slightly clumsy side.
In the past, Yu Yunlan had not cared about such things. But for some reason, she did not want to show a disheveled side in front of a certain Alpha.
But when she looked at the steak in front of her, her expression froze rare for a moment.
Because the steak had already been cut.
Only her portion had been cut.
At the dining table, the crisp sound of knives and forks touching plates occasionally rang out. Yuan Qiaoqiao took a bite of steak, then narrowed her eyes with a blissful expression. “Every time I eat here, I’m completely amazed all over again.”
She looked at Yu Yunlan and said, “Hurry and try a bite. I seriously recommend it.”
She did not seem surprised at all that Yu Yunlan’s plate had already been cut.
Yu Yunlan did as she said, using her fork to spear a piece and place it into her mouth.
The beef was soft and tender. It had been seasoned with a unique sauce and was very fragrant. It was indeed delicious.
At the table, Fang Zhijin ate very quietly. Most of the time, it was Yuan Qiaoqiao talking, while Jiang Wan occasionally added one or two sentences.
Just as the meal was nearly over, the door to the private room was gently knocked on again. A few seconds later, a server carried in a dish and said respectfully,
“Miss Fang, this is the restaurant’s newest dish. When the head chef learned that you had come, he specially sent one over for your table.”
After the server finished speaking, they placed the new dish on the table.
When Fang Zhijin saw what was inside, the warmth in her eyes quietly faded, turning dark instead.
It was a roasted squab.
Yu Yunlan sat opposite her, so she was the one who could most clearly sense the change in Fang Zhijin’s mood.
In her mind, she suddenly recalled what Ye Su had told her not long ago.
“…Little lunatic… once raised a pigeon…”
“…Her family made the pigeon into soup… and forced her to drink it…”
That stifling feeling in her heart returned. Yu Yunlan pressed her lips into a straight line.
On this side, the server had already left. Seeing Fang Zhijin staring at that roasted squab, not knowing what she was thinking, Yuan Qiaoqiao asked, “Zhijin, aren’t you going to try it?”
Fang Zhijin half-raised her eyes. The expression on her face no longer showed anything unusual. She said, “I don’t really like pigeon.”
“So that’s how it is.” Yuan Qiaoqiao nodded, showing that she understood. She said, “Then can I try it first?”
“Of course.”
Yuan Qiaoqiao let out a “Yay.” She was very interested in the so-called new dish. She picked up a piece with her chopsticks and tried a bite, then her eyes instantly lit up. “This is really delicious. Zhijin, are you really not going to try it?”
Fang Zhijin said, “No need. You can eat it.”
After knowing that Fang Zhijin truly did not like it, Yuan Qiaoqiao stopped urging her and focused on battling the delicious food on the table.
Yu Yunlan, however, noticed that after the roasted squab was brought out, the person opposite her had not touched her utensils again.
Suddenly, she also lost her appetite.
After the meal ended, Yu Yunlan said, “How much was it in total? I’ll transfer my share to you.”
Yuan Qiaoqiao waved her hand. “No need, no need. We didn’t spend any money on this meal.”
No money? Yu Yunlan’s movement paused.
Perhaps seeing her confusion, Jiang Wan explained from the side, “This restaurant is one of the Fang family’s businesses.”
Strictly speaking, it was only a very small part of their businesses.
Yuan Qiaoqiao also nodded. “That’s right, that’s right. We originally said we’d go eat somewhere else, but Zhijin recommended this place and said we could just come here.”
“This time, we got to cling to Zhijin’s thigh. I’m so happy.”
Yu Yunlan did not pay attention to the rest of what was said, because her thoughts suddenly returned to the dining table just now, to that cut steak.
…
Getting along with her roommates was not as difficult as Yu Yunlan had imagined.
Many people from Domain A were rather arrogant, disdaining interaction with people from other regions and being passionate about forming their own circles.
But there were also a very small number of exceptions, such as Yuan Qiaoqiao and Jiang Wan.
One of them liked making friends and could hang out with anyone for a bit. The other was immersed in studying and did not pay much attention to unrelated things.
Perhaps because Fang Zhijin had chosen to live on campus, these two roommates of hers also often stayed in the dormitory. They could be considered among the few people Yu Yunlan had come into contact with several times after enrolling.
Without Fang Zhijin, perhaps these two roommates would not really stay in the dormitory much either.
Thinking carefully, it seemed that many things had Fang Zhijin as a factor in them.
Yu Yunlan was rarely somewhat distracted tonight.
She returned to her bedroom. While washing up, she glanced at the communicator on her wrist several times, vaguely and almost imperceptibly.
After she finished washing up and lay on the bed, Yu Yunlan found herself unable to sleep. She could not help opening her communicator, then looked at the dialog box at the very top.
It was Fang Zhijin’s account.
Fang Zhijin’s profile picture was of her own back, showing only a small part of her side profile. Judging from the environment, it should have been taken by the sea. The overall color tone leaned toward deep blue, with only a faint smear of gold in the distance. It was hard to tell whether the photo had been taken at sunrise or sunset.
At first glance, the photo gave off a beautiful feeling. But after looking at it for a long time, there was a sense of loneliness and emptiness.
Loneliness… Fang Zhijin?
Would that kind of Alpha feel lonely too? Yu Yunlan thought aimlessly.
The dialog box between the two of them was very quiet. Ever since they added each other as friends, apart from the system notification saying both sides had successfully added each other, they had not chatted at all.
She and Fang Zhijin had added each other as friends…
That… beautiful Alpha…
A certain lost-in-thought expression appeared on Yu Yunlan’s cold face.
When she realized that she had already been staring at that profile picture for several minutes, Yu Yunlan frowned slightly and felt that something was wrong with her.
She simply turned off her communicator.
