After Teasing the aloof Arch-Nemesis Omega - Chapter 3
The protagonist’s reaction pleased Fang Zhijin greatly.
What Fang Zhijin liked most in life was finding amusement. She knew she was wicked and hypocritical, and she did not deny that her personality was bad.
At the very least, it was completely different from the image she presented to others.
She had been having dreams for several days in a row. The miserable state she ended up in during the dream made Fang Zhijin unhappy, so she would use her own methods to make others unhappy too, even if that ending had not happened yet.
This time, she had made the protagonist shoulder a disciplinary punishment and even aroused the protagonist’s dislike. Fang Zhijin was very satisfied with today’s result.
This good mood lasted all the way until the opening ceremony.
Elite Academy’s grand cathedral was very large and was specially used to hold certain events. The central area was spacious enough to accommodate all of Elite Academy’s students. The seats were arranged in an arc, surrounding the speech platform in the middle.
When it came time for the freshman representative’s speech, Fang Zhijin raised her eyes with a smile and slowly walked onto the stage, standing still.
The tall, slender Alpha wore proper makeup. Her long hair fell down, and although she wore Elite Academy’s standard uniform, she looked more noble than everyone else. She recited her speech without a script, her pace neither too fast nor too slow.
When the final sentence ended, applause rang out through the entire venue. The orange stage lights fell across her face. Her long, thick lashes cast a small shadow over her eyelids, also making the tiny glitter in her eye makeup refract a beautiful light.
That face was projected onto the large screen. Elite Academy’s expensive, advanced equipment was enough for everyone to clearly see even the smallest details.
Standing on the high platform, she was dazzling beyond reason. Even her strands of hair seemed to be glowing. This kind of radiance was enough to make anyone turn their head.
Yu Yunlan was no exception.
She was in the very last row of the grand cathedral. She had not chosen to sit down, but stood far away from the crowd, gazing distantly at the figure on the stage.
Fang. Zhi. Jin.
Yu Yunlan silently repeated the name in her heart. So this was how her name was written.
The gland at the back of her neck was heating up and swelling. She looked once more at the Alpha on the stage, then turned around and left silently.
…
After Fang Zhijin finished her opening speech and came down from the stage, she entered the backstage area.
Almost the next second, Fang Zhijin’s communicator vibrated, notifying her that someone had sent a voice-call request.
It was as if the person had timed it perfectly.
Fang Zhijin was not surprised at all. She opened her communicator, and a small light screen appeared in midair.
The caller was her mother.
Fang Zhijin went to a place with fewer people. With a swipe of her fingertip, she chose to answer.
A cold, stern voice soon came through. There was no warm greeting at all; the caller stated her purpose directly. “I heard you submitted an application to the school, saying you want to live on campus?”
Fang Zhijin pulled up the mirror function and tidied the ends of her hair. “Yes.”
After fixing them, she let out a soft laugh. “Mother, you receive news so quickly.”
She had only submitted the application to the school that morning, yet her mother already knew about it now.
On the other side, her mother said, “I’m only concerned about your situation at Elite Academy. Why did you suddenly make this decision?”
Fang Zhijin said, “Don’t you often say that as a member of the Fang family, I must do everything as well as possible? Then I’ll choose to live on campus. That way, I can earn a better reputation at school, can’t I?”
The other side was silent for about two seconds. “Do as you please. Just mind your limits.”
With only those few words, Fang Zhijin knew that her mother had compromised.
This was within her expectations.
After the call ended, Fang Zhijin closed her eyes.
The pleasure she had felt from provoking the protagonist earlier quietly disappeared.
…
After the opening ceremony, there was still a small social gathering. However, Fang Zhijin was not in the mood to attend it for the time being. She planned to go to her dormitory first.
Elite Academy’s dormitories were divided into four-person suites. Whether Alpha or Omega, pheromones of the same kind carried a sense of exclusivity. Therefore, each person had a separate bedroom and bathroom, while only the living room was shared by all four. Dorm members were assigned according to their overall entrance assessment results.
However, most people from Domain A chose not to live on campus unless their classes the next day were rather early and they wanted convenience.
After all, no matter how complete the academy’s facilities were, they could not compare to the environment at home.
Moreover, people from Domain A were more or less exclusionary. If conditions allowed, they were not actually very willing to live together with people from other domains.
Fang Zhijin had already submitted an application to the school and naturally knew her dormitory number.
Her dormitory was on the second floor. Someone had already been arranged in advance to clean it, and some basic daily necessities and clothes had been delivered as well. She only needed to move in directly.
She took out the dormitory’s sensor key card and touched it against the sensing device on the door.
With a beep, the outermost door opened.
From the entrance, only the shared hall could be seen. It was very quiet inside. The other dorm members seemed not to have returned yet.
Fang Zhijin put away the key card and walked inside.
The heels of her tall boots stepped against the floor. Even though there was a thin carpet laid over it, they still made a faint sound.
She had thought there was no one in the dormitory, but with a click, the sound of a door opening suddenly came from one of the bedrooms. It was especially clear in the overall quiet atmosphere. A figure appeared by that door.
Fang Zhijin looked over naturally and saw the protagonist again.
Yu Yunlan seemed to have taken a shower. She had changed into another set of clothes and wore no makeup on her face, giving her a naturally clean and plain look. The top two buttons of her shirt were undone, revealing her slender neck and delicate collarbones. Her high-tied hair had already fallen loose, and there was still some moisture on her body.
However, her condition looked somewhat wrong. Her skin, which had originally been as pale as cold jade, was now faintly flushed where it was exposed.
As if she had not expected there to be someone outside, Yu Yunlan raised her eyes and looked over. The original coldness in her eyes scattered slightly, spreading out like mist in the early morning.
Fang Zhijin pretended to be surprised. “What a coincidence. We meet again. I didn’t expect us to be roommates.”
In reality, Fang Zhijin was not surprised to be assigned to the same dormitory as the protagonist. This protagonist’s ability and talent were both very strong. In this entrance assessment, she had almost received all “S” grades, and her ranking was nearly tied with Fang Zhijin’s. Otherwise, she would not have been able to stand out from Domain D and directly get into Elite Academy.
In the dream, Fang Zhijin had not chosen to live on campus. Instead, she had lived in her own residence in the imperial capital and had been driven to and from school every day by a private car.
But now, everything had become different.
Fang Zhijin walked a few steps forward and held out her hand. “I haven’t introduced myself yet. My name is Fang Zhijin. I’m very happy to become your roommate.”
That hand was slender, with distinct knuckles and long fingers. A thin layer of nail care oil had been applied to her nails, giving them a glossy, luminous look.
Yu Yunlan’s gaze followed that hand. She braced one hand against the doorframe, her waist slightly bent, and blinked lightly. Her reaction looked somewhat slow.
Before entering school, she had injected herself with a special drug. Perhaps because of her heat now, the side effects of the drug had begun to appear bit by bit. The stabbing pain and swelling in her gland alternated, making Yu Yunlan’s thoughts feel somewhat frozen.
“Classmate, you’re ignoring me again. That makes me a little sad.” Fang Zhijin withdrew her hand and dragged out the ending of her words, sounding as if she were truly upset.
Her gaze lightly swept over Yu Yunlan’s face, which remained coldly beautiful even through the traces of pain.
“But it looks like you’re sweating. Are you feeling unwell somewhere? Do you want me to help take a look?”
“…No need. Just stay away from me.” Her cold voice was mixed with a hint of hoarseness.
“How can that be?” Fang Zhijin looked down at the protagonist, who was bent slightly at the waist. From her angle, she could just barely see a little of the area at the back of Yu Yunlan’s neck.
This piece of clothing should have been brought by Yu Yunlan from Domain D. Just from the fabric alone, it did not look very good. It gave off a rough feeling. As its owner breathed, it scraped against the skin underneath, making the faint pink on her skin look as though it had been rubbed out.
For some reason, Fang Zhijin found it unpleasant to look at.
So Fang Zhijin reached out and tugged at the protagonist’s collar.
The material was poor and rather stiff, with weak elasticity. Even though Fang Zhijin did not use much force afterward, the piece of fabric she had pulled aside did not return to its original position.
More of Yu Yunlan’s neck was exposed. Even the red and swollen gland at the back of her neck could be faintly seen.
Fang Zhijin thought carelessly to herself that she did not know whether this protagonist had turned foolish because of her heat. She was actually just standing there in a daze.
She deliberately lowered her head, unwilling to waste even a single opportunity to disgust the protagonist, and said, “I’d better help you take a look. Don’t move.”
As the Alpha spoke, she bent down, the ends of her brows and eyes lifting slightly. It actually added a trace of charm to that refined and elegant-looking face.
“Classmate, your temperature seems a little high.”
The glitter in her eye makeup entered Yu Yunlan’s field of vision, making Yu Yunlan lose focus for a moment. She could not help thinking again of the way this person had looked standing on the speech platform.
Fang Zhijin continued moving her head closer. The hair behind her slipped forward with her movement, brushing against the forearm of the person in front of her. “Even your neck has turned pink here.”
The current scene was very similar to what had happened at the teaching building earlier, except that Yu Yunlan’s clothes had changed, and her buttons were no longer fastened tightly. Instead, they were loose.
Fang Zhijin had already lowered her head until it was hovering close to Yu Yunlan’s shoulder. She extended a finger and touched the temperature of the skin near Yu Yunlan’s collarbone.
For people who had just met, this kind of action was very offensive, not to mention that in the dream, this protagonist was someone who especially hated being touched.
“Don’t touch me.” Yu Yunlan’s lips moved slightly. “Second time.”
Her voice was very soft, but Fang Zhijin still heard it.
“Hm?”
What second time?
And that “hm” finally made Yu Yunlan’s consciousness return a little. Looking at the face so close at hand, her shoulder reflexively dodged.
Fang Zhijin was unprepared. Before her body could move away, her lips accidentally brushed against Yu Yunlan’s neck through a layer of fabric.
Both their bodies stiffened.
There was now an ambiguous faint pink mark on Yu Yunlan’s originally clean collar. It was Fang Zhijin’s lipstick.
“…”
Fang Zhijin finally straightened up. To be honest, she had not expected this to happen either.
The air fell silent for a second, until Yu Yunlan asked coldly, “What exactly are you trying to do?”
Only then did Fang Zhijin open her palm. There was a strand of hair on it. “Sorry. A strand of my hair accidentally fell into your clothes just now. I only wanted to take it out.”
She said, “We’re both Alphas. You shouldn’t mind, right?”
Yu Yunlan’s expression stiffened, becoming even more distant and cold. “No…”
Before she could finish speaking, the sound of the sensor came from the main door, along with faint voices. It should be the other two roommates arriving.
Sure enough, a moment later, the main door was opened, and two people entered one after another.
One of them seemed to have a very lively personality. She first placed the bag in her hand on a cabinet by the entryway, then raised her head and unexpectedly saw Fang Zhijin.
Her eyes widened in disbelief. Then she rubbed her eyes and looked again.
Holy crap. Fang Zhijin was still there. It was not an illusion!
There was another person beside Fang Zhijin, so her gaze inevitably moved over as well. The person looked unfamiliar. She did not seem to have seen this face at any upper-class banquets before, but she was inevitably stunned by her beauty.
Two gorgeous Alpha beauties with different styles stood together, and they were very close. The one on the left was delicate and otherworldly, while the one on the right was cold as the moon. Standing together, they were extremely pleasing to the eye. There was even somehow a feeling that they matched well?
However, the moment this thought appeared, she immediately threw it out of her mind.
What was she thinking? These two were both Alphas. How could they possibly be a match?
Her attention returned to Fang Zhijin, and her tone was excited. “Classmate Fang, why are you in the dormitory too? Are you planning to live on campus?!”
Fang Zhijin smiled and nodded, giving a soft “Mm” as an answer to her question.
The girl immediately let out a small cheer. “Oh my god, that’s great! Doesn’t that mean we’ll be roommates from now on?”
The other person also greeted her. Compared to the first girl, her personality seemed more introverted. She only simply said, “Hello.”
“Hello.” Fang Zhijin waved, her eyes curving. “I’m very happy to meet you.”
She silently observed these two roommates of hers. One of them was very cute-looking, and her personality seemed quite lively. The other wore a pair of glasses, fitting everyone’s first impression of a “top student” very well.
In any case, they both seemed fairly easy to get along with.
For a moment, the atmosphere in the hall became harmonious and cheerful. Under these circumstances, Yu Yunlan’s silence became especially abrupt.
The lively roommate unconsciously looked over again and asked, “Then may I ask, are you the other roommate?”
Yu Yunlan seemed to be out of sorts. It was as if she had not heard the sentence at all. She turned around and went straight back into her room.
“Hm? So she really is our new roommate. But why did she leave?” The lively roommate, Yuan Qiaoqiao, who had just exchanged names with them, was a little confused. She actually felt a little awkward at being ignored.
The other roommate, Jiang Wan, pushed up her glasses. Her thoughts were clearly more delicate. “She seems to be feeling unwell.”
Fang Zhijin smiled at the two of them. “Yes, but it’s fine. I think she’ll probably be all right after resting properly.”
The protagonist was suffering for no reason other than the side effects of the special drug and her heat. She needed to endure it herself. Besides, Fang Zhijin had not had enough fun yet, so she did not want the protagonist’s identity to be discovered.
Fang Zhijin curled her lips and thought carelessly in her heart.
Hearing these words, Yuan Qiaoqiao gave an “Oh.” “So that’s how it is…”
However, she also noticed that the cold, taciturn roommate whose name she still did not know did not seem to be wearing Elite Academy’s uniform.
Moreover, the fabric on her body looked rough and cheap.
Could she be from Domain C or Domain D?
Thinking of this, Yuan Qiaoqiao’s brows could not help furrowing slightly, and her interest in talking to the other girl faded a little.
Although she would not go so far as to be hostile toward people from those places, she would not get close to them either.
However, what troubled Yuan Qiaoqiao more was that before entering the dormitory, she and Jiang Wan had originally planned to live outside and only return to the dormitory occasionally.
But now, judging by the looks of it, Fang Zhijin would probably live in the dormitory. Then she and Jiang Wan would definitely spend much more time in the dormitory too.
That would inevitably bring them into some contact with that unnamed roommate.
…
The bedroom door cut off the sounds from outside. Considering that high-level Alphas had keen senses, the bedrooms had very good soundproofing devices.
The surroundings became quiet again.
After returning to her own room, Yu Yunlan’s tense shoulders finally relaxed slightly.
After coming back, she had already injected herself with a suppressant, but her gland was still very uncomfortable. Yu Yunlan lowered her eyes, looked at her clothes, and, as if possessed, tugged up her own collar.
The discomfort in her body made it difficult for her to control her strength. She pulled too hard, and the tip of her nose accidentally brushed against a certain part of the fabric.
It was the spot where Fang Zhijin’s lips had accidentally touched just now.
Yu Yunlan’s body paused. With a panic even she herself did not notice, she immediately put her collar back down.
When she closed her eyes, the glitter on Fang Zhijin’s eyelids seemed to still be flickering in her vision.
She had become somewhat strange.
It must be because her Omega pheromones had been suppressed too harshly by the drug, so she had also become somewhat abnormal. That was why she had done something so unlike herself.
Yu Yunlan thought this with certainty.
