Chapter 36
The delicious breakfast meat entered her mouth. Her tongue pushed the fresh, savory juice into her throat.
A wonderful, satisfying meal.
Qin Qin ran to the bathroom, her face red, almost collapsing when she opened the door.
Liang Manqing propped herself up and looked over. “Why are you in such a hurry to leave? I haven’t eaten enough yet.”
Qin Qin scooped several handfuls of water onto her face. Water droplets clung to her flushed cheeks. She looked at Liang Manqing, huffing: “E-eat what?! Hurry up and take me to the set.”
“Alright, I’m up.” Liang Manqing entered the bathroom, wrapped her arms around Qin Qin’s waist, and rested her chin on the Omega’s shoulder. The hot breath scattered on Qin Qin’s neck made her feel ticklish. She turned her head away to avoid her: “Sister, please hurry up and wash.”
“I don’t feel like washing today.” Liang Manqing rubbed Qin Qin’s earlobe, whispering: “I want to go to work carrying your scent.”
How can this person say something like that with a straight face?
Qin Qin squeezed toothpaste onto the brush and thrust it into Liang Manqing’s mouth: “Hurry up and brush your teeth! I have so many scenes to shoot today.”
Liang Manqing bit the toothbrush and asked: “Do you have night scenes today?”
Qin Qin nodded: “I have night scenes for the next few days. I probably won’t get home until the middle of the night.”
Since the release of Qin Qin’s Tomorrow’s Lily, her value had skyrocketed. She was flooded with offers, which meant Qin Qin was getting increasingly busy.
Liang Manqing rinsed her mouth and said: “Take a break after you finish filming this movie. Haven’t you been feeling unwell these past few days? You even woke up and threw up last night. Why don’t you take the day off from the crew and rest at home?”
Don’t mention it! The mere mention made Qin Qin feel nauseous again. She suppressed it, continuing to brush her teeth and rinse.
Qin Qin wiped the water from her lips: “I can’t take a leave. Filming will wrap up in a few days. I’ll just push through and rest afterward.”
Liang Manqing tried to say more, but Qin Qin immediately interrupted her: “Enough, stop talking! Aunt Tao was rushing us to come downstairs for breakfast just now.”
“I’m full.” Liang Manqing smiled meaningfully at Qin Qin in the mirror: “I ate all night.”
“Ah, stop it!” Qin Qin was almost bullied to tears by Liang Manqing. She blushed and rushed downstairs.
Liang Manqing watched Qin Qin run away shyly and smiled silently.
But the next second, Liang Manqing stopped smiling. The long-missing System suddenly popped up: [Host, you and the supporting female character cannot continue your happiness. Start the heart-wrenching plot now, or you won’t be able to return!]
Liang Manqing’s mind buzzed. After all this time, she had almost forgotten the existence of the scum System and her purpose for being here.
She only wanted to live with Qin Qin.
But that seemed highly unrealistic. She had to go back. She had to return for the sake of her lonely grandmother.
The System buzzed in her mind: [Host, I’m talking to you. Did you hear me?]
[Stop nagging. I heard you.] Liang Manqing pressed her aching forehead, considering how to proceed with the heart-wrenching plot.
Liang Manqing: [Just go straight into the heart-wrenching plot?]
She actually wanted to ask if she didn’t need to go through the physical abuse plotline. If so, that would be wonderful.
The System, being able to read Liang Manqing’s thoughts, answered naturally: [You’ve been physically abusing the supporting female character every night. She begs for mercy every night. I can barely watch. You truly show no mercy when you start the physical abuse.]
Liang Manqing was speechless and couldn’t be bothered to argue with the System.
If that counted as physical abuse, Qin Qin would likely be very happy with it.
The System vanished with a whoosh.
Liang Manqing dropped Qin Qin off and went to the Liang Group, but half the day passed, and she couldn’t focus on work.
Manager Xue knocked and came in several times, only to see Liang Manqing looking distracted. Her computer browser was still open on a house-hunting website.
Manager Xue glanced over and joked: “It seems even CEO Liang needs to use a website to find a house?”
Liang Manqing snapped back to reality and closed the page: “What do you need?”
“I originally wanted to ask about some company business, but it seems you’re not in the mood for it.” Manager Xue was perceptive: “I’ll figure it out myself then.”
Liang Manqing hummed: “I apologize. I truly can’t focus right now.”
She was currently debating whether she should move Qin Qin out of the Liang house.
Manager Xue saw Liang Manqing’s worried expression and didn’t say anything more, quietly leaving the office.
Liang Manqing sighed softly and called her assistant, Qian Haiye.
By the time Qin Qin finished her last scene, Liang Manqing had almost finalized a house.
Liang Manqing didn’t work overtime late today. She went back to the Liang house in the evening and packed her and Qin Qin’s luggage.
Three hours later, two rooms were completely emptied.
Qian Haiye brought a few people in to move the luggage: “CEO Liang, the new villa is ready. Should we move the things over now?”
“Move these few boxes first. I’ll take care of the rest myself.” Liang Manqing remembered to ask: “Did you hire the housekeeper and nanny?”
Qian Haiye: “I hired a professional team. Don’t worry, CEO Liang.”
Liang Manqing naturally trusted Qian Haiye’s work: “After dropping off the belongings, go to the set to pick up Qin Qin and take her to the new residence.”
Qian Haiye agreed.
The Liang house was basically emptied. When Liang Manqing went to leave, Aunt Tao quickly grabbed her hand: “Manqing, where are you going? All your things are gone. Aren’t you coming back?”
“We won’t be living here for now. Please tell Liang Xue.” Liang Manqing didn’t say anything more and left with her luggage.
“Neither you nor Xiao Qin are coming back?” Aunt Tao thought the two wanted to live a private life, but even so, it was too sudden.
Liang Manqing: “It’s alright, Aunt Tao. Take good care of yourself here. It’s not like we’re never coming back. It will also be easier for you now that we’re gone.”
Aunt Tao smiled warmly: “I’m here at the Liang house to take care of you, after all.”
Liang Manqing did not go with Qian Haiye. Instead, she went to rent a small apartment next to the new villa.
This way, she could be closer to Qin Qin.
Liang Manqing sat in the empty room. This apartment was smaller—a rented one-bedroom, one-living-room single unit.
When she left, it wouldn’t be a waste.
She would arrange everything and then quietly leave.
Liang Manqing decided not to see Qin Qin for the next few days and focus on completing the plot.
She had been too indulgent recently. If she continued like this, Qin Qin would surely be heartbroken when she left this world.
She realized it was better to let Qin Qin adjust in advance.
After Qin Qin finished her night scene, Qian Haiye picked her up. Qin Qin kicked off her high heels and slept briefly against the seat back. She woke up and looked out the window, realizing the car wasn’t heading toward the Liang house.
Qin Qin asked doubtfully: “Qian Haiye, where are we going?”
Qian Haiye: “CEO Liang arranged a new residence for you. We’re going there now.”
“A new residence?”
Could it be that Liang Manqing decided to move out so they could live together, or was it a wedding house prepared by Liang Manqing?
Either assumption made Qin Qin happy and excited. A sense of bliss welled up.
Qin Qin slowly processed it: “Is Liang Manqing back yet?”
Before Qian Haiye could speak, Qin Qin said: “Let me call her myself.”
However, the call seemed constantly busy. It kept being disconnected.
When Qin Qin arrived at the new residence, a line of nannies and housekeepers waited at the door to welcome her.
The new villa was several times larger than the Liang house.
Qin Qin was startled by the lavish scene. Her smile almost froze: “There’s no need for such a grand welcome. You… you can all go do your own things.”
The housekeeper led Qin Qin inside, saying: “That is your room, Miss Qin.”
They took the elevator up to the third floor. Qin Qin’s room was a few steps down the right.
It was entirely decorated according to Qin Qin’s taste. The huge bed was covered with all sorts of dolls, looking very cute.
Qin Qin picked up a rabbit and rubbed its ear. She thought these things were a bit too childish, toys for little kids.
As she thought about it, she smiled.
It’s wonderful to have a home with Liang Manqing.
She still couldn’t quite believe it.
However, it was nearly one in the morning, and Liang Manqing’s phone was still unreachable. Is she really that busy?
This was the first time she hadn’t returned a call so late.
Qin Qin was worried. She asked Qian Haiye to drive her to the Liang Group, but she wasn’t there. They then went to Liang Manqing’s studio.
She still couldn’t find her.
Qin Qin had fallen asleep several times on the way. She was utterly exhausted.
Finally, she sent a text message to Liang Manqing and went back to rest.
She had nothing to do for the next two days, so she could rest and didn’t need to rush.
But the next day, Liang Manqing still hadn’t contacted her. Qin Qin felt unwell and went to the hospital for a check-up. As she came out, she saw Liang Manqing, who was just emerging from the pharmacy, still wearing a patient gown.
Liang Manqing saw Qin Qin simultaneously.
The two asked at the same time: “Are you sick?”
Both of them froze after asking.
Liang Manqing recovered first and said: “I overworked myself with overtime recently and collapsed. What’s wrong with you? Are you still feeling unwell?”
Qin Qin felt Liang Manqing looked much weaker.
Qin Qin clutched the report in her bag and shook her head: “The test results haven’t come back yet. I don’t know.”
Liang Manqing: “When will they be ready?”
“Uh… probably tomorrow.” Qin Qin deflected casually: “Are you staying in the hospital? For how many days? I’ll go back and pack some things to come and stay with you.”
“No need. I have someone here.” Liang Manqing said, looking toward a woman nearby: “She’ll take care of me. You go back and rest early.”
Qin Qin followed Liang Manqing’s gaze. It was a woman Qin Qin didn’t recognize, who looked gentle, beautiful, and very capable.
A bad feeling rose in Qin Qin’s heart. “Sister, who is she? I’ve never seen her before.”
Liang Manqing hummed: “She just returned from overseas.”
Just returned from overseas.
Qin Qin looked at the woman again, remembering the ‘white moonlight’ in Liang Manqing’s heart. She suddenly understood something.
The woman turned and walked toward them. Qin Qin quickly looked away: “I have to go now. Rest well.”
Qin Qin left quickly, her figure disappearing.
Liang Manqing slightly frowned. Her recently eased stomach pain seemed to have intensified.
The woman walked over and helped Liang Manqing into the ward: “Liang Manqing, you’re quite the drama queen. I just came back to see you, and you fainted. If I hadn’t come back, would no one have found you?”
Liang Manqing’s personal phone had been off for days; she only used her work phone.
Qian Haiye was also at Qin Qin’s house acting as her personal driver, so Liang Manqing collapsed while working all night and happened to be found by He Yi.
She had arranged to meet He Yi a while ago, but she had forgotten due to the late-night overtime, which was why He Yi came to the Liang Group.
He Yi was an Alpha, but her temperament was gentle. She didn’t have the typical strong Alpha aura, and if she didn’t mention it, people would usually mistake He Yi for an Omega.
He Yi followed Liang Manqing’s line of sight: “Who was that girl? You didn’t look like you were having a pleasant conversation.”
“It’s nothing. You go rest too. Thank you for today.” Liang Manqing closed her eyes, feeling weak and powerless. Her stomach was hurting badly, and she couldn’t focus on anything else.
He Yi: “Alright. I’m tired too. We can have dinner when you feel better.”
Liang Manqing gave an ‘OK’ sign.
As soon as He Yi left, the System popped into her mind again: [Host, you did exceptionally well. I heard the supporting female character’s heartbreak just now. Keep it up. You’re not far from returning to your original world.]
Liang Manqing said weakly: [What did I do?]
System: [Using the ‘white moonlight’ to hurt the supporting female character’s heart. I haven’t even taught you that move yet, and you already figured it out. You truly are the villain.]
“…No wonder.” Liang Manqing belatedly remembered Qin Qin’s disappointed expression. She misunderstood.
Liang Manqing immediately called Qin Qin. It rang for a while before she answered. After hearing Qin Qin’s voice, she thought for a moment and only asked: “Are you home?”
Qin Qin hummed. She was in a bad mood: “I’m tired. I’m going to rest now.”
Before Liang Manqing could say anything, she heard the decisive click of Qin Qin hanging up.
Was the next step simply waiting for Qin Qin to blacken before she could go back?
Liang Manqing held her phone. Is this what I truly want?
