Chapter 40

Lin Jin and Miss Bai had also arrived.

The two of them sat in another pavilion not far from the group. Miss Bai was likely there to watch her father play golf, and Lin Jin, being her constant shadow, had naturally followed.

Lin Jin waved at Xie Yunshen with his sunglasses in hand, smiling like a sunflower. Since Yan Shiqi had just explicitly stated his dislike for Lin Jin, Xie Yunshen didn’t dare to be too flamboyant; he simply gave a dismissive nod as a perfunctory greeting.

Lin Jin, however, was the type who pushed harder the more he was ignored. He stood up immediately, walked behind Xie Yunshen, and gave his shoulders a squeeze. He laughed, “Brother Xie, did I do something wrong? You’re giving me the cold shoulder.”

The forced flattery of this hyper-masculine man made Xie Yunshen’s skin crawl with disgust.

“I’m not. Now get lost and go back to your girlfriend.” He shrugged his shoulders, signaling Lin Jin to stop the massage.

Lin Jin tsked. “Don’t be a stranger. Are you still holding a grudge about me telling you not to interrupt my date with Jingyan?”

Xie Yunshen realized Lin Jin was incredibly full of himself. He turned his head and hissed, “Is the word ‘modesty’ not in your dictionary?”

He simply didn’t want Yan Shiqi to see this. What if the Bigshot thought his bodyguard was having some sort of “affair” with his love rival?

“What do I have to be modest about?” Lin Jin was taken aback. To be fair, Lin Jin did have the capital to be arrogant.

“Just go, go,” Xie Yunshen urged him.

“I just wanted to ask—could you teach me that move from the other day?”

“Which move?” Xie Yunshen frowned.

“The one in the theater. When I grabbed your shoulder from behind, how did you slip away so instantly?” Lin Jin even demonstrated the motion as he spoke.

That simple movement of Xie Yunshen’s had fascinated Lin Jin. He had gone back that night and tried for hours but couldn’t replicate it.

Xie Yunshen let out an “oh.” So he wanted a favor; no wonder the grand Male Lead was acting like a lapdog today.

Suddenly, a round of applause erupted from the green. Xie Yunshen looked over to see a small crowd gathered around Yan Shiqi.

“Master Yan, that eagle was magnificent!” Master Bai laughed the laugh of “old money” as he clapped.

The portly middle-aged man also expressed his admiration. “Skills like Mr. Yan’s are rare. Old Bai, it looks like you’re going to win by just coasting today.”

Xie Yunshen felt a pang of loss. “Look at that! You made me miss the highlight!”

Lin Jin looked bewildered. “You’re not actually becoming a golf fanatic, are you?”

Just then, Yan Shiqi, standing in the crowd, suddenly turned his head toward them. His eyes, partially shielded by the brim of his hat, narrowed dangerously.

Xie Yunshen’s heart skipped a beat. He reached up and violently pried Lin Jin’s hand off his neck.

Lin Jin was stunned. “That wasn’t the move!”

Xie Yunshen snapped, “Go back to your girlfriend, now!”

When he looked back, Yan Shiqi had already turned to talk to someone else, appearing perfectly normal. Xie Yunshen let out a small sigh of relief. But the calmer Yan Shiqi appeared, the more Xie Yunshen felt the bizarre illusion that he had just been “caught cheating.”

Yan Shiqi and Master Bai’s team had already won the first round. The tycoon’s son sneered, mocking them: “Mr. Yan, is the professional etiquette of your Southern Province bodyguards a bit lacking? Their master is out here in the sun while they sit in the pavilion drinking juice? Look at my bodyguards…”

He pointed his golf club toward the edge of the lawn, where a row of bodyguards in suits stood in perfect formation. “They are all battle-hardened, top-tier guards.”

Yan Shiqi glanced at the row of guards in the distance—a courtesy nod, but clearly unimpressed.

Master Bai looked at the tycoon’s son meaningfully. “If we’re talking about being battle-hardened, I’m afraid your people don’t compare to the two masters by Mr. Yan’s side.” He had seen the skills of the Yan bodyguards, especially the young man named Xie; his prowess was terrifying.

The second-generation tycoon noticed Yan Shiqi’s dismissive attitude, and his eyes grew cold. After Yan Shiqi won the first round, the tycoon became restless. By the start of the second round, he missed three consecutive holes. Although he could beat Master Bai and the others, Yan Shiqi’s skills were clearly superior.

Back at the beast arena, he had been on a winning streak before Yan Shiqi arrived. If the arena was about luck, how could he lose at golf—a game he took pride in?

Another swing, and the ball missed again.

Master Bai laughed. “What’s wrong today, Young Master Choi? Is the sea breeze affecting your performance?”

The tycoon’s son gritted his teeth and let out a cold laugh. When it was time to switch clubs, the caddy was a second too slow. The tycoon took the club and suddenly swung it hard against the caddy’s leg.

The sudden scene left everyone in silence. The caddy collapsed, trembling, and was taken away by staff; it seemed they were used to this. Another caddy, pale-faced, stepped up to replace him.

“That guy isn’t human,” Xie Yunshen said coldly.

“This is him showing restraint,” Yi Wuyi remarked.

“Restraint?” Xie Yunshen was startled.

“You know the conglomerates in Country B cover the sky with one hand. Even if they kill someone, they just pay it off. His character has been public knowledge for years. It’s just that on this ship, there are plenty of people more powerful than him, so he doesn’t dare be as blatant as he is back home.”

The tycoon’s son didn’t spare the caddy a single glance. He smiled and spread his hands. “Let’s continue, Mr. Yan, Mr. Bai!”

Yan Shiqi frowned. The middle-aged man and Master Bai looked on, seemingly used to such sights. Yan Shiqi tossed his club to a caddy and said to Master Bai, “Master Bai, let’s continue this back in the Southern Province. I’m a bit tired today.”

Master Bai laughed. “Sure thing, Master Yan. When we’re back in A-City, let’s call Master Chen and Master Huang as well.”

“Wait!” The tycoon named Choi stood with one hand on his hip and the other on his club. He laughed. “What’s this? Mr. Yan, tired before we’ve had our fun?”

Yan Shiqi turned and looked at him. “I never play with people who can’t afford to lose.”

His bluntness surprised even Master Bai. But on second thought, the Yan family was powerful; why should Yan Shiqi be polite to the youngest son of a foreign conglomerate with whom he had no business ties?

The tycoon froze, looking at Yan Shiqi in disbelief. “I’m sorry, are you saying I can’t afford to lose?”

Yan Shiqi didn’t even give him a direct look. “Of all the people here, who do you think fits the description best?”

Young Master Choi blinked, tilted his head toward the others, and let out a neurotic laugh. “What is he talking about!?”

He expected the crowd to join in his mockery. But Master Bai gave him the cold shoulder, and even Mr. Zhou, his own teammate, looked away. The two foreign businessmen who had been chatting with him earlier now stood behind Yan Shiqi, looking at him with disdain. One was a playboy heir; the other was the helmsman of a top-tier group. Everyone knew who carried more weight.

The spoiled heir, used to being flattered, suddenly lost his footing in the eyes of these merchants. He nodded and sneered, his tongue pushing against his cheek as he looked at the landscape behind him. His eyes turned savage.

Suddenly, he raised his golf club high and swung it down toward Yan Shiqi.

It was a sudden, violent move. Everyone’s eyes widened in horror.

Before the club could land, Yan Shiqi didn’t even move. A black figure was already standing in front of him. A hand caught the club mid-air with raw strength. The tycoon’s face was instantly met with a horizontal elbow strike—the sound of bone cracking echoed. As he stumbled back, he was hit by a roundhouse kick before he could even hit the ground.

“Old Five, catch.”

The tycoon’s body was sent flying to the left. He rolled twice. Like a soccer ball, his head was “caught” by the foot of another man. Blood gushed from his nose. Before he could even see the man standing over him, he was kicked [stolen content]away again, rolling across the grass until he lay in a bloody heap.

Master Bai winced, feeling a sympathetic pain.

The entire exchange had taken only two or three seconds. By the time the bodyguards from the edge of the lawn rushed over, their master was already lying in the grass, face covered in blood, staring at the sky on the verge of passing out.

Xie Yunshen walked over and nudged the limp body with his toe. He looked down and said, “Given how much you talk, I thought you’d at least have some backbone. How are you so fragile?”

The tycoon’s face was slightly deformed. He gave one final shiver and fainted from the pain.

When Xie Yunshen turned around, he saw several suited bodyguards lying scattered across the grass. Yi Wuyi had already taken care of them. He gave Yi Wuyi a thumbs up. “Old Five!”

The onlookers gasped. They had actually treated the heir of a major conglomerate like a soccer ball. Staff members rushed the tycoon to a stretcher and toward the ship’s emergency clinic.

Yan Shiqi stood there, calmly watching it all. The Yan family was truly formidable; even their bodyguards were terrifying. No wonder their status remained unshakable. Everyone present had only one thought: I must win over the Yan family at all costs.

The caddies nearby almost cried with relief. At least for a while, they wouldn’t have to work in fear.

Lin Jin, witnessing this from the sidelines, couldn’t help but sigh. “Xie Yunshen is getting scarier and scarier.” He looked at Bai Jingyan. “Jingyan, I heard the Yan family has a lazy bodyguard also named Xie. It’s definitely not him, right?”

Bai Jingyan was also amazed. “I think his name is also Xie Yunshen. But for someone as responsible as Mr. Yan, isn’t it a good thing he has such powerful protection?”

Lin Jin felt like he’d been struck by lightning. “How can you praise another man in front of me…?”

Bai Jingyan laughed. “Alright, forgive me.”

Lin Jin had no choice but to forgive her immediately. But in his heart, he vowed: Yan Shiqi, you are the rival of my life!
