After Transmigrating Into An Eighteenth-Tier Alpha, I Married The Best Actress - Chapter 2
There was a turn up ahead, leading into a small road. From there, she could reach the theater.
The harsh sunlight happened to be blocked by the houses on both sides of the road.
Yin Lingzhu’s bangs covered the ends of her brows, revealing the relaxed, striking space between them. Her eyes curved into a lovely arc from happiness, her pupils reflecting a bright golden glow. Her lips had been reddened by the sun, but the corners of her mouth still lifted upward.
She wore only a white shirt, black trousers, and canvas shoes. The outfit made her look like a student, and her tall, slender figure was especially eye-catching.
Even the light beneath the blazing sun was not as dazzling as the Alpha at this moment.
Yin Lingzhu quickly ran to the entrance of the small road.
She saw that Rong Yu’s car was still crawling forward, so she shouted at her, “You can keep driving slowly. I’m not keeping you company anymore.”
“You—” Rong Yu did not even have time to finish speaking before Yin Lingzhu had already disappeared.
“Why aren’t you driving faster?” She kicked the driver’s seat hard, venting all her anger on him.
Rong Yu leaned back against the seat and secretly thought about how to complete her plan.
“Drive faster.” She kicked the seat again.
The car soon arrived at the production crew. Rong Yu fixed her makeup, confirmed there was nothing wrong, and got out of the car.
She trotted in small steps to her financial backer’s side, affectionately linked her arm through his, and complained in a sweet, coquettish voice, “Someone bullied me.”
“All right, all right. Tell me what you want me to do.” Her backer was clearly enjoying it, stroking Rong Yu’s little face.
Rong Yu forced down her discomfort and took the chance to rub her face intimately against his hand. “She’ll be coming to the production crew to audition in a while. There’s an audition location with a swimming pool. Let’s have it there.”
“Fine. I’ll go say something to the director.”
Yin Lingzhu did not have much money on her right now, so she had to rely entirely on her own two feet.
In her original world, she had been a programmer, one of the very best.
Compared to her world, this world’s computer development was at the same pace, so she had originally planned to earn some money in the afternoon.
But after Rong Yu stirred things up, in order not to alert the enemy, she would probably have to waste the entire afternoon.
By the time she arrived at the audition room for the production crew, Yin Lingzhu no longer cared about her image. She collapsed completely into a chair.
“You there, come in and try out for the role.”
Hearing the voice, Yin Lingzhu lifted her head to see who had been called, calculating how much longer she would have to rest.
Then she realized that voice was calling her.
“Big Brother, did you get the wrong person?” Yin Lingzhu pointed beside her. “They all got here before me.”
“No mistake. It’s you. Hurry up and go in.”
Yin Lingzhu could only drag herself toward the audition room.
Inside the audition room, everywhere else was very dim. Only the stage area had lighting.
But by that faint light, Yin Lingzhu could see where the judges’ seats were.
“Xiao Yu told me you’re here to audition for the second female lead. Go ahead and act,” a voice came from the judges’ seats.
Yin Lingzhu was completely confused. She had not even read the script. How was she supposed to act?
“Director, can I take a look at the script?” Yin Lingzhu asked like an idiot.
“You came to audition without even reading the script?” The director slammed the table and roared furiously.
Just now, the investor’s little lover had come in and said her friend wanted to cut in line. For the sake of the money, the director had reluctantly agreed.
And now this person cutting in line had not even read the script. What did she think this place was?
“Director, don’t be anxious. My friend is especially talented. Please let her look at the script.”
Rong Yu’s soft and delicate voice rang out, but her gloomy, venomous eyes were fixed tightly on Yin Lingzhu, like a snake hiding in the dark.
Yin Lingzhu realized what was going on. She had just been about to refuse when the director’s voice cut her off.
“Fine. If she acts badly, she can forget about ever taking one of my roles again.” Hearing Rong Yu’s voice and thinking of the funding, the director forced down the fire in his chest and spoke.
After receiving the script, Yin Lingzhu quickly flipped through it.
The scene Yin Lingzhu had to audition with was one where the second female lead retrieved a watch she had lost in the swimming pool.
That meant Yin Lingzhu needed to get into the water.
The moment Yin Lingzhu got the script, her face stiffened. Then it relaxed again. She would not need to actually go into the water.
“Director, doesn’t our stage have a swimming pool?” Rong Yu’s voice popped up again.
Before Yin Lingzhu could speak, the director refused first.
“No. What kind of audition would that be?”
“I also think that wouldn’t show off my acting skills.” Yin Lingzhu immediately echoed him.
Even though Yin Lingzhu did not know how to act, she still did not want to get into the water.
Yin Lingzhu’s fear of water was greater than the fear of embarrassing herself in public.
Seeing that her plan was not succeeding, Rong Yu shook her backer’s arm.
“I think actors still need to experience things personally at least once before they can express the most authentic state.” Her backer stroked Rong Yu’s little hand and said this with a smiling face.
The director had no choice but to suppress his own opinion again.
Outnumbered and powerless, Yin Lingzhu had no choice but to stand by the swimming pool.
At the same time, Rong Yu quietly opened the camera on her phone and pointed it at her.
The light was extremely dim. The pool was only one meter deep, yet in Yin Lingzhu’s eyes, it seemed bottomless.
Fear surged into her heart. Accompanied by nausea, Yin Lingzhu’s vision went black, and she fainted.
When she woke up again, the first thing she saw was a white ceiling. The smell of disinfectant lingered around her nose.
“You’re awake.” The girl in the white coat set down her cup of water and walked over to Yin Lingzhu.
“I’m your attending doctor, You Xiaoxiao.”
“Do you know? You underwent a secondary differentiation,” You Xiaoxiao said as she sat down beside Yin Lingzhu.
“Secondary differentiation?”
“Your girlfriend is here. She knows the details too.” You Xiaoxiao gestured for her to turn her head.
A girl was asleep on the hospital bed beside her.
“I found her number on your phone,” You Xiaoxiao explained.
“No one was taking care of you, so I called her.”
You Xiaoxiao’s expression was a little strange. Yin Lingzhu did not know whether it was because she had casually gone through her phone, or because of something else.
The girl on the hospital bed heard the movement and woke up.
When she saw Yin Lingzhu had opened her eyes, obvious delight appeared on her face.
“Doctor, could you step out for a moment?” Seeing that the girl had woken up, Yin Lingzhu spoke to You Xiaoxiao with slight embarrassment.
After You Xiaoxiao left, the atmosphere in the room became a little awkward.
Yin Lingzhu knew this girl. Her name was Wan Miaoyin, one fish in the original owner’s sea.
And not even one of the important ones.
“The doctor might have misunderstood our relationship.” Wan Miaoyin tucked up the hair hanging by her ear and spoke considerately.
“Um… we should stop contacting each other from now on.” Yin Lingzhu lowered her head, not daring to look at her. Her voice was also very soft.
Warm yellow sunlight spilled over the floor and the table, but avoided the two of them alone.
“Why?” Wan Miaoyin clearly had not expected her to say something like that. She froze for a while before asking blankly.
Yin Lingzhu still remained silent. She did not know how to face this kind of thing.
In her original world, she had never had anyone she liked, so naturally, she had never dated either. Her experience in this area was extremely limited.
Time passed in Yin Lingzhu’s silence, and the atmosphere grew heavier and heavier.
“Okay.”
Yin Lingzhu did not know how long had passed before she heard that single word and finally lifted her head.
Wan Miaoyin was no longer in the room. Yin Lingzhu saw two patches of water where she had just been and understood that she had cried.
She sighed and took out her phone.
There were still many fish in the original owner’s pond. She might as well deal with all of them this afternoon.
Yin Lingzhu spent the entire afternoon breaking things off with her ambiguous partners.
You Xiaoxiao pushed open the door. Seeing that Yin Lingzhu was still there, she secretly let out a breath of relief.
At that moment, Yin Lingzhu was breaking things off with the final fish.
You Xiaoxiao quickly walked to Yin Lingzhu’s bedside and placed a hand on her forehead. “Good. You’re not feverish.”
“After your secondary differentiation, your pheromone levels started increasing rapidly. They need to be released.”
You Xiaoxiao lowered her hand and accidentally saw Yin Lingzhu’s phone screen.
“You’re really popular,” she teased.
“Doctor, what happens if the pheromones aren’t released?” Yin Lingzhu had no way to respond to her last sentence, so she simply ignored it and asked the question on her mind.
“Nothing much.” You Xiaoxiao sat down in the chair and tapped her chin. “Maybe you’ll just explode and die.”
“Doctor, don’t scare me.” Yin Lingzhu’s eyes widened in disbelief.
Seeing her like this, You Xiaoxiao poured out a whole string of words.
“Please, you differentiated into an S-rank. Do you know how rare that is?”
“An Alpha differentiating again into S-rank—if not for my excellent skills, do you think you’d still be lying peacefully in bed?”
“Because this was a secondary differentiation, your pheromones surged violently. Your glands can’t withstand it. You really will die.”
After hearing all of this, Yin Lingzhu could not help sighing over her own luck. She no longer had to pay the breach-of-contract penalty. Now she was just about to croak instead.
“But you don’t need to worry. After all, you have so many girlfriends,” You Xiaoxiao said regretfully.
“I don’t have any girlfriends.” Yin Lingzhu raised her phone. What had originally been a full list of contacts on a certain messaging app now only had four or five left.
“And besides, I’ll only find one girlfriend,” Yin Lingzhu corrected her.
You Xiaoxiao saw that she had deleted so many people. She had just opened her mouth when she was interrupted by her phone vibrating.
She glanced at Yin Lingzhu and, seeing that Yin Lingzhu was not paying attention to her, hurriedly picked up her phone and walked outside.
“What are you doing? I was just about to tell her.”
“Don’t you know your own body?”
“Someone more or less suitable finally appeared.”
“You only have one month left.”
After You Xiaoxiao said all of that, she hung up and returned to the hospital room.
