After Transmigrating Into An Eighteenth-Tier Alpha, I Married The Best Actress - Chapter 3
When Yin Lingzhu saw You Xiaoxiao come in, she closed the search page on a certain search engine.
“Doctor, if I don’t mark anyone else, is there any other way for me to survive?” Yin Lingzhu’s brows were tightly furrowed, and her lips were pressed together slightly.
You Xiaoxiao had not expected her to ask that. “Marking someone is the simplest and most effective method, but there is a specialized instrument that can let you release pheromones.”
Hearing the second half of that sentence, Yin Lingzhu relaxed. Her brows gradually smoothed out as well.
As long as there was another way, that was good.
“But this machine is still in development at the moment, and it’s extremely expensive,” You Xiaoxiao added.
“Roughly twice the amount of your breach-of-contract penalty.”
In just a few seconds, Yin Lingzhu’s mood rose and fell dramatically.
When she heard You Xiaoxiao’s final sentence, her entire body radiated an air of having lost all will to live, and her shoulders drooped weakly.
“But why don’t you want to mark someone?” You Xiaoxiao still could not understand. Her tone was full of confusion.
She had investigated Yin Lingzhu’s information. Yin Lingzhu had a lot of people she flirted ambiguously with, and she looked like a standard scumbag Alpha.
“Marking someone means you have to take responsibility for her.” Yin Lingzhu lay on the bed, her arm hanging limply, but her tone was serious and sincere.
“Casually marking someone else is irresponsible to both people.” Thinking of the information she had just looked up, Yin Lingzhu spoke heavily.
“You really do seem like a good Alpha when you act like this,” You Xiaoxiao said with a sigh, then left the hospital room again.
Yin Lingzhu watched her departing back, her pure-black pupils flickering between light and shadow.
You Xiaoxiao clearly had a problem, but Yin Lingzhu did not want to dig deeper into it right now. At the moment, she wanted to know that there was a way for her to live.
But she truly did not know what to do now. If she had transmigrated a little earlier, she might have found a way to earn money. But now…
Yin Lingzhu let out a helpless, long sigh, lamenting how fate toyed with people.
After leaving the room, You Xiaoxiao called Yan Si. “Hurry and come to the hospital.”
Yan Si did not understand at all why You Xiaoxiao was so insistent on making her marry that whoever-it-was.
Yan Si had not remembered Yin Lingzhu’s name.
“I’m not going. My mental power is very stable right now.” Yan Si refused in a calm tone, flipping through the script in her hand.
“Stable? Stable, my ass. I’m your doctor. Do you think I don’t understand your physical condition?” You Xiaoxiao’s anxious tone carried worry.
You Xiaoxiao paced back and forth at the very end of the corridor, deeply uneasy.
She looked around and confirmed there was no one there before opening her mouth.
You Xiaoxiao explained the pros and cons clearly and completely, telling Yan Si to think about it carefully.
“I can barely keep hiding this from the hospital anymore.”
After saying that final sentence, she hung up the phone.
Then You Xiaoxiao walked firmly back toward the hospital room.
Yan Si stared at the black screen of her phone, countless thoughts running through her mind.
After a long while, she set down the script, picked up her car keys, and went out.
Ever since You Xiaoxiao came back, the word “conflicted” had been written all over her face, and Yin Lingzhu found it very amusing to watch.
“Doctor, just say whatever you want to say.” Yin Lingzhu could not help speaking first.
“Then I’ll be blunt.” You Xiaoxiao sat down in the chair, her expression grave.
“I want to introduce you to someone you can marry.”
Yin Lingzhu’s mind went blank for an instant, and even the motion of picking up her water cup paused.
She adjusted herself, brought the cup to her lips, and said, “I don’t want to get married right now, and I have no way to get married either.”
When it came to her own friend, You Xiaoxiao would patiently and earnestly persuade her. But toward Yin Lingzhu, her temper was not nearly that good.
“You’ll agree whether you want to or not.” You Xiaoxiao’s attitude was forceful, her eyes fixed straight on Yin Lingzhu.
Yin Lingzhu met her gaze, her hand tightening around the water cup.
“Doctor, are you planning to threaten me?”
“You only have one path, and that is to agree.” You Xiaoxiao’s tone was impatient, her fingertips tapping against the bedside cabinet.
A dangerous atmosphere spread through the hospital room.
Seeing how forceful her attitude was, Yin Lingzhu tried to persuade her again. “I don’t understand. Are Alphas really so rare that it has to be me?”
Hearing this, You Xiaoxiao gave her a strange look. “S-rank Alphas are precious, of course. An Alpha like you, with no background, is even rarer.”
“There are two roads in front of you today. The first is marriage.”
“And the second?”
“Second, do you know how many people who underwent secondary differentiation died?” You Xiaoxiao laughed softly.
“Think about it carefully.”
After saying that, she no longer had the patience to keep circling around with Yin Lingzhu and got up to leave.
Yin Lingzhu was still thinking about her choices and did not notice You Xiaoxiao’s movements. She was about to set her water cup down on the bedside cabinet.
In that split second, the cup she set down collided with the person getting up, and warm water spilled onto You Xiaoxiao’s arm.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry.” Yin Lingzhu apologized repeatedly, pressing tissues against the damp sleeve.
You Xiaoxiao did not dodge either and simply let her wipe it.
“Maliciously damaging medical personnel’s uniform—do you know how much you have to compensate for that?” You Xiaoxiao looked at her, gaining yet another excuse.
“Fine, fine, great doctor. I’ll pay you back for the clothes.” Yin Lingzhu lowered her head and wiped the cuff as she said this.
Creak—
The sound of the door being pushed open drew both their attention.
Yin Lingzhu stared blankly at the person who came in.
The newcomer wore a baseball cap that covered most of her face, revealing only a lovely lip shape. Her lips were red with a hint of soft pink, glistening with a translucent sheen, and her hair rested lightly on her shoulders.
“Nice to meet you for the first time. My name is Yan Si.” The corners of Yan Si’s mouth lifted as she walked to Yin Lingzhu’s bedside and introduced herself to Yin Lingzhu very gently.
Yin Lingzhu seemed to have gone stupid. She stared at her in a daze as Yan Si walked toward her and stretched out a hand.
That hand remained suspended in the air, waiting for another hand to come.
“Hello, hello, my name is Yin Lingzhu.” Ignoring her own posture, Yin Lingzhu hurriedly held that hand.
She spoke in a rush, terrified that Yan Si might form some bad impression of her.
“Yan Si is the person you’re going to marry,” You Xiaoxiao took the opportunity to say.
Hearing You Xiaoxiao’s voice and looking at Yan Si in front of her, Yin Lingzhu’s face and the base of her neck flushed completely red.
Thump! Thump! Thump!
At that moment, her heart beat violently, as if it were about to leap out of her body.
The sound of her heartbeat also echoed against her eardrums, one beat after another, destroying Yin Lingzhu’s reason.
“Do you like me?” She heard Yan Si ask her.
Yin Lingzhu’s face instantly turned even redder, as if it might drip blood.
The heat in her cheeks made it impossible for her to think. She stared blankly at Yan Si, murmuring, “I like you.”
The moment she said it, Yin Lingzhu regretted it. Saying she liked someone the first time they met—would Yan Si think she was frivolous?
Yan Si leaned forward, suddenly moving closer to Yin Lingzhu. “Can we get married?”
“Yes.” Yin Lingzhu nodded stiffly.
Yan Si moved a little closer again, revealing the face beneath her cap.
Her eyes seemed covered with a layer of rippling water as she gazed softly at Yin Lingzhu, and the black beauty mark at the corner of her eye looked especially alluring.
“Then can we get married tomorrow?” Her voice carried temptation, speaking softly, as if it were a whisper between lovers.
“Yes.” Yin Lingzhu made the same motion as before.
Yin Lingzhu felt a warmth that did not belong to her. It came from Yan Si’s body.
The rich fragrance of roses lingered around the tip of her nose.
She was surrounded by Yan Si’s scent.
She could sense that her own state was wrong, but she had no way to return to normal.
Right now, her mind was filled entirely with Yan Si.
“Then I won’t disturb your rest anymore, okay?” Yan Si said as she pulled some distance between herself and Yin Lingzhu.
Yin Lingzhu still nodded. “Okay.”
After meeting Yan Si, her body seemed capable of only simple movements.
“If I’d known it would be this easy, I wouldn’t have gone through so much trouble,” You Xiaoxiao said to Yan Si in the corridor.
“Before you came, she would rather die than give in.”
“After you arrived, three of her souls flew off and seven of her spirits were lost.”
You Xiaoxiao sighed over Yan Si’s charm.
“Marrying her doesn’t really benefit me that much, does it?” Yan Si asked in confusion.
She no longer looked anything like the alluring person from moments ago. Her whole bearing was cool and distant.
“Your mental power hasn’t been released. You’re relying entirely on suppressants.” You Xiaoxiao stopped walking.
“And besides, she differentiated a second time into S-rank. The news is being hidden for now, but if it gets out, do you know how many people will fight over her?”
“Marrying her is the best method. It’ll shut other people up. Your family has been pushing you all this time too, so this will solve that along the way.”
You Xiaoxiao said a whole pile of things, all to explain to Yan Si the importance of the matter.
The sound of the two of them walking echoed through the corridor again.
After Yan Si left the room, Yin Lingzhu finally came back to herself. She screamed, then shrank into the blanket.
What on earth had she just done?
But after only a little while, she stuck her head out again, breathing in large gulps of air.
Her face was still red to death, but her eyes were sparkling brightly as she replayed the scene from earlier in her mind.
She decided to return to her rented room immediately to get her household registration booklet.
Marriage!
