Senior Sister, Please Act Human! - Chapter 13
Ever since Senior Martial Aunt Mu Jiu granted her a “special pardon,” Xiao Yuanzhi had been like a rabbit let loose, spending every day doing absolutely nothing productive.
Over the next several days, aside from the forbidden grounds and a few restricted locations, she managed to “tour” almost every corner of Cangfeng Manor.
She still exercised a little restraint, though. After all, she was using someone else’s body, so she did not dare go too wild.
Xiao Yuanzhi reclined in a rocking chair with one leg crossed over the other. She had barely read a few pages of the book she borrowed from Gao Yan before it slipped from her hand and landed over her face.
The chair rocked gently back and forth, slowly carrying her toward sleep.
Then a burst of noisy voices reached her ears.
Xiao Yuanzhi’s brows knitted slightly, but she was far too lazy to get up, so she endured it.
The noise stopped after a while.
Yet just as she was about to fall asleep, voices sounded again.
This repeated several times.
It was exactly like trying to take a nap while someone renovated the apartment upstairs. Every time you thought the noise was finally over, another round began, never-ending and relentless.
Who wouldn’t be furious?
“Fuck!”
Xiao Yuanzhi exerted force through her waist and rocked the chair backward. Using its momentum, she planted both feet on the floor as it tipped forward and stood up.
She wanted to see exactly which group of little bastards could yap so endlessly.
They were annoying her to death!
Yan’er smiled as she watched two senior brothers depart.
She was now holding two food boxes.
Every dish inside had come from Four Seasons Restaurant. They even included its signature Four Happiness Meatballs, as well as roast chicken and several other dishes.
Just thinking about them made her mouth water.
Yan’er wiped the drool from the corner of her lips.
Just as she was about to escape with the food, Xiao Yuanzhi called out behind her.
“Senior Sister.”
Yan’er froze.
The smile on her face stiffened, and she immediately looked as guilty as a thief caught in the act.
She did not dare turn around.
“Little Junior Sister, you’re awake. You should rest a little longer. I still have something to do, so I’ll be leaving first.”
Xiao Yuanzhi was confused.
Something about Yan’er’s tone sounded wrong.
And why would she not turn around and face her while speaking?
Yan’er was afraid.
What if Xiao Yuanzhi suddenly rushed toward her?
She hurriedly spoke again before Xiao Yuanzhi could react.
“Little Junior Sister, I really do have something to do. Master summoned me, so I can’t talk with you any longer. I’ll be going now.”
With that, she immediately tried to slip away.
However, her strange walking posture only made Xiao Yuanzhi even more suspicious.
She had barely taken two steps when Xiao Yuanzhi called out, “Stop right there!”
Yan’er did not dare stop.
If Little Junior Sister discovered that Yan’er had accepted food from the senior and junior brothers on her behalf, then intended to devour everything herself without leaving so much as a chicken leg, Xiao Yuanzhi would surely curse her to death.
Xiao Yuanzhi leaned against the doorway without chasing her.
She simply watched Yan’er and said ominously, “Go ahead, then. But once you leave, don’t ever come back. I can always find someone else to play with.”
That lightly spoken sentence struck Yan’er directly at her weak point.
No!
If Little Junior Sister refused to play with her and stopped allowing her to visit, how would Yan’er continue accepting snacks from the senior and junior brothers on her behalf?
Yan’er turned around.
Unfortunately, the food boxes in her hands were far too large to conceal. No matter what she did, they remained fully exposed before Xiao Yuanzhi.
She pouted and looked at Xiao Yuanzhi with a pitiful expression.
Xiao Yuanzhi was not moved in the slightest.
“Confess everything. Tell me what happened. Don’t even think about making excuses—I heard everything from inside. If you tell the truth, I might consider showing mercy.”
Left with no choice, Yan’er truthfully explained the entire situation.
At the end, she even reflected upon her mistakes in hopes of receiving lenient treatment.
Xiao Yuanzhi looked at Yan’er standing before her with her head lowered, presenting the food boxes with both hands.
Who would have expected this little spy to be so capable?
She even had two faces, acting one way in front of Xiao Yuanzhi and another behind her back.
The moment Xiao Yuanzhi went inside to sleep, Yan’er had quietly intercepted everything other people brought for her.
Yan’er opened one food box and offered it to Xiao Yuanzhi ingratiatingly.
“Little Junior Sister, look. Junior Brother Chen is so considerate. He even brought your favorite Four Happiness Meatballs. Would you like some?”
Xiao Yuanzhi rolled her eyes.
Unfortunately, that damned delicious aroma still drifted into her nose.
It smelled quite good.
Nevertheless, she turned her head away haughtily, hoping Yan’er would coax her a little more.
Yan’er continued, “Little Junior Sister, you’ve been resting for quite some time, so you must be hungry. Hurry and eat something.”
Although she was speaking to Xiao Yuanzhi, her eyes never left the Four Happiness Meatballs.
She swallowed and continued, “If Little Junior Sister cannot finish them, I could reluctantly help—”
Before she could finish, Xiao Yuanzhi snatched away the food box.
“There’s no need to force yourself. I happen to be a little hungry, so I’ll make do with these.”
As a devoted foodie, how could Yan’er simply leave?
The moment Xiao Yuanzhi went inside, Yan’er immediately followed.
She even took the initiative to clear the table and arrange all the dishes.
As though afraid Xiao Yuanzhi might find an excuse to send her away, she had brought her own chopsticks.
Once Xiao Yuanzhi sat down, Yan’er said excitedly, “Junior Sister, then I won’t stand on ceremony!”
With that, she picked up one of the Four Happiness Meatballs and took an enormous bite.
Xiao Yuanzhi stared at her in astonishment.
There had only been one pair of chopsticks inside the food box.
“Senior Sister Yan’er, those…”
Where had they come from?
Yan’er’s mouth was stuffed full.
When she saw Xiao Yuanzhi pointing toward the chopsticks in her hand, she barely managed to mumble, “Mmph… I always carry them with me.”
“…”
Xiao Yuanzhi felt deeply impressed and somewhat ashamed of herself.
This was a true elite of the foodie world.
Carrying chopsticks everywhere—what did that represent?
It represented profound respect for food itself!
Xiao Yuanzhi looked at the dishes on the table. Every plate was beautifully arranged and appeared extremely appetizing.
According to Yan’er’s confession, she had accepted so many gifts over the past few days that her hands had nearly gone numb.
The original Xiao Yuanzhi had been extremely popular—though only among the senior and junior brothers.
As for the senior sisters, not even one of them had appeared.
Xiao Yuanzhi had merely thought about it, yet a senior sister really did arrive.
She thought about becoming rich all the time, so why had that never come true?
Wei Zisu stood in the doorway holding a food box.
At the sight of her, only one thought entered Xiao Yuanzhi’s mind:
A weasel paying a New Year’s visit to a chicken—she definitely had no good intentions.
Wei Zisu glanced at the food covering the table.
It seemed bringing something herself had been completely unnecessary.
Hah.
Even after Xiao Yuanzhi beat Eldest Senior Brother so badly that he remained bedridden, he still remembered what she liked to eat.
Yet she had already started feasting.
Had Wei Zisu known earlier, she would never have made a special trip down the mountain on his behalf.
“Eldest Senior Sister, why are you here?”
Yan’er put down her chopsticks, hurriedly wiped her mouth clean, and stood to welcome her.
She accepted the food box from Wei Zisu and pulled her inside enthusiastically.
“Little Junior Sister and I only just started eating. Eldest Senior Sister, come join us!”
Yan’er truly enjoyed making decisions without permission.
This was Xiao Yuanzhi’s residence, wasn’t it?
Yan’er had not even asked whether she agreed before dragging Wei Zisu inside.
And Wei Zisu actually had the nerve to enter!
She had made Xiao Yuanzhi suffer so terribly before—tormenting her, chasing her around while attacking her, and even causing her to catch a cold.
Yet now she still had the face to enter Xiao Yuanzhi’s room and eat with her?
Yan’er opened the food box and took out a bowl.
When she opened the second layer, she cried out in delight.
“Wow! Four Happiness Meatballs!”
Then she said to Xiao Yuanzhi, “Little Junior Sister, Eldest Senior Sister bought your favorite Four Happiness Meatballs!”
Xiao Yuanzhi gave a perfunctory smile.
Who knew what Wei Zisu was plotting?
Wei Zisu had never intended to visit Xiao Yuanzhi.
Coming here had not been her own idea.
Someone had apparently informed Eldest Senior Brother that Xiao Yuanzhi had caught a cold.
When Wei Zisu delivered medicine to him today, he asked her to visit Xiao Yuanzhi on his behalf.
How laughable.
He had personally asked Wei Zisu to visit someone she hated.
However, Eldest Senior Brother pleaded with her repeatedly, leaving Wei Zisu no choice but to agree.
No one cared how much it hurt her.
No one would ever pay attention to her feelings.
Even if what Yan’er told her was true—even if Xiao Yuanzhi had personally declared that she did not like Eldest Senior Brother—so what?
Eldest Senior Brother still liked Xiao Yuanzhi.
Nothing had changed.
Everything remained the same.
His heart did not belong to Wei Zisu, and she continued to hate Xiao Yuanzhi as much as ever.
Perhaps when she first heard Xiao Yuanzhi did not like Eldest Senior Brother, she had felt slightly relieved.
She had even wondered whether she should reconsider her opinion of Xiao Yuanzhi.
But when she initially refused to visit, only to hear Eldest Senior Brother pleading with her, her hatred of Xiao Yuanzhi increased tenfold.
Since she already despised Xiao Yuanzhi so deeply, there was naturally no possibility of treating her pleasantly.
In Yan’er’s eyes, however, this became Eldest Senior Sister voluntarily extending an olive branch.
Yan’er felt deeply gratified, and a powerful sense of accomplishment arose within her.
It appeared she had been right to spread what Xiao Yuanzhi told her.
Look—the misunderstanding between the two had been resolved!
From now on, they could become loving and harmonious senior and junior sisters.
While Yan’er rejoiced, she even felt tempted to quietly conceal her great contribution.
“Eldest Senior Sister, you’re so kind to Little Junior Sister. You even remember what she likes to eat.”
Although Wei Zisu wore a faint smile, it contained no warmth whatsoever.
Yan’er’s words pierced her heart like a needle.
Eldest Senior Brother never remembered what Wei Zisu liked to eat, yet he remembered all of Xiao Yuanzhi’s preferences.
Wei Zisu did not reveal that Eldest Senior Brother had entrusted her with the visit.
She merely said flatly, “As long as Little Junior Sister likes it.”
At that moment, Xiao Yuanzhi could describe the atmosphere with only one word:
Awkward.
The oblivious Yan’er noticed absolutely nothing and continued praising Wei Zisu.
Had Wei Zisu not entered carrying a food box, judging from her icy expression, anyone unaware of the situation might have assumed she had come to send Xiao Yuanzhi to the afterlife.
Xiao Yuanzhi picked up her chopsticks and was about to take some food when Wei Zisu spoke.
“Little Junior Sister seems remarkably trusting. Aren’t you afraid I might have poisoned the food?”
Wei Zisu was unhappy, so she deliberately wanted to disgust Xiao Yuanzhi.
Yan’er believed their relationship had only just begun to improve. How could she allow it to deteriorate again?
She hurriedly explained, “No, no! How could Eldest Senior Sister possibly use poison? She’s only trying to frighten you.”
Xiao Yuanzhi chuckled softly.
She casually picked up the chopsticks in front of Wei Zisu, took one Four Happiness Meatball, and divided it into two halves.
She gave one half to Wei Zisu and placed the other in her own bowl.
“Since Eldest Senior Sister has already warned me, ignoring you might seem disrespectful.”
“Let’s each eat half. Even if I die, I’ll drag you along with me.”
“Besides, not everyone is fortunate enough to die alongside a beauty.”
Xiao Yuanzhi met Wei Zisu’s gaze and continued, “If we leave this world together, we’ll at least have each other as companions on the journey. Otherwise, wouldn’t the road to the Yellow Springs be terribly lonely?”
“Little Junior Sister, hurry and spit three times! You mustn’t say anything so unlucky!”
Xiao Yuanzhi and Wei Zisu stared at each other, their gazes locked in a silent contest.
Yan’er became anxious.
“Hurry! Spit!”
Xiao Yuanzhi glanced at Yan’er before returning her gaze to Wei Zisu.
Then she softly said—
“Ptooey!”
