Senior Sister, Please Act Human! - Chapter 9
Cold sweat instantly broke out across Xiao Yuanzhi’s body.
The sun was clearly hanging high in the sky, yet waves of cold air kept surging toward her from behind.
Wei Zisu’s expression was dark.
She had originally been on her way to deliver medicine to Eldest Senior Brother. She had not expected to pass by this place and overhear Xiao Yuanzhi mocking her behind her back as an “old maid.”
Wei Zisu despised people who gossiped behind others’ backs more than anything.
And this person happened to be Xiao Yuanzhi.
Eldest Senior Brother was more than a year older than Wei Zisu and had already undergone his capping ceremony. According to the marriage agreement made between the Wei and Qin families when she was young, the Qin family should already have come to formally propose marriage.
Yet Eldest Senior Brother kept refusing and delaying it again and again.
Wei Zisu knew perfectly well why.
Was it not all because of Xiao Yuanzhi?
Had Xiao Yuanzhi not stood between them, Wei Zisu would already have married Eldest Senior Brother. How else would she have ended up being mocked as an “old maid” today?
Xiao Yuanzhi did not dare turn around. Her mind raced as she tried to figure out what to do.
Unbeknownst to her, the more Wei Zisu thought about it, the angrier she became.
Wei Zisu abruptly tossed the tray of medicine into the air. The next moment, she grabbed Xiao Yuanzhi by the collar, lifted her, and flew onto the branch of a tall tree.
By the time Xiao Yuanzhi recovered, she was already standing high above the ground.
She hurriedly wrapped both arms around the trunk beside her to keep herself from falling.
Wei Zisu, meanwhile, had already abandoned her there.
After landing, Wei Zisu steadily caught the tray again. Not even a single drop of medicine had spilled, revealing just how formidable her martial arts were.
“Since Junior Sister enjoys talking so much, allowing only two or three people to hear you would be a waste of your wonderful ‘eloquence.’ Why not stand somewhere higher, as you are now, and let everyone appreciate it properly?”
There was not the slightest emotion in her voice.
Xiao Yuanzhi looked down.
That single glance nearly made her faint.
Several cries of fuck immediately exploded inside her mind.
Her arms tightened around the tree.
This had to be several stories high!
A cold smile curved Wei Zisu’s lips.
The sight of Xiao Yuanzhi trembling in fear brought her a faint sense of pleasure.
Very few people knew Xiao Yuanzhi was afraid of heights.
Wei Zisu happened to be one of them.
As for how she knew, that was unimportant.
“Little Junior Sister, stay up there and enjoy yourself.”
With that, she turned to leave.
Xiao Yuanzhi was both furious and terrified.
Although her legs were already trembling and she could barely remain standing, as the saying went, a scholar could be killed but never humiliated.
Even if Wei Zisu abandoned her here, Xiao Yuanzhi would never utter a single word begging for mercy!
This was Xiao Yuanzhi’s pride!
Wei Zisu had only taken one step when Xiao Yuanzhi shouted at her.
“Hah! Wei Zisu, you’re despicable! Do you think doing this will make me beg you? Huh?”
“I’m telling you, you’ve underestimated me, Xiao Yuanzhi! Even if I have to stand in this tree for the rest of my life, I still won’t beg you for anything!”
“You want me to beg you? Dream on!”
Under normal circumstances, Xiao Yuanzhi would never have dared speak so recklessly.
But she was truly terrified right now. Shouting like this was the only thing that made her feel slightly less afraid.
Wei Zisu stopped walking.
She did not take Xiao Yuanzhi’s words to heart in the slightest.
Even if Xiao Yuanzhi did beg her, Wei Zisu had no intention of bringing her down.
After all, what Xiao Yuanzhi had said had greatly displeased her.
However, when Xiao Yuanzhi saw Wei Zisu stop, she mistakenly thought the woman had softened.
Xiao Yuanzhi had spoken so stubbornly just now, yet Wei Zisu was willing to put aside their grievances and still intended to bring her down.
It seemed Xiao Yuanzhi had been the narrow-minded one.
Although she did not understand Wei Zisu very well, she could vaguely sense that Wei Zisu was a proud person.
Getting someone like her to lower her head would be difficult—and unreasonable.
Besides, Xiao Yuanzhi had been the one who spoke badly of her first, and Wei Zisu had already softened.
If Xiao Yuanzhi continued acting stubborn, she would simply be refusing to appreciate kindness.
She was about to say something conciliatory, giving them both a way to step down gracefully so Wei Zisu could bring her back to the ground.
Unfortunately, Wei Zisu’s next action proved that Xiao Yuanzhi’s reflection and assumptions were nothing more than wishful thinking.
Wei Zisu left.
She truly left.
She walked away without even looking back!
Xiao Yuanzhi became so agitated that she instinctively reached out after her and nearly took a step forward.
Then she suddenly remembered that she was still standing in a tree.
Unable to control her eyes, she glanced downward again.
Terrified, she instantly pulled her hand and foot back and clung tightly to the trunk.
Xiao Yuanzhi closed her eyes and wailed for a while.
Still holding on to the faint hope that Wei Zisu had not gone far, she shouted, “Eldest Senior Sister, I’m sorry! I was wrong! Come back!”
She softened her voice, her tone turning pleading.
“Please, Eldest Senior Sister! I shouldn’t have spoken badly about you. I was wrong—truly wrong! Please come back and bring me down. Will you please let me down?”
“Once I’m back on the ground, you can punish me however you like. I promise I won’t fight back or talk back. I’m really scared…”
“I know I was wrong, Eldest Senior Sister. If you can hear me, please forgive me just this once.”
Xiao Yuanzhi’s grip on the tree could no longer be described with the simple word tight.
Even a koala probably could not have clung to it more fiercely.
Unfortunately, despite everything she said, there was not a single person nearby to hear her.
Yan’er, who had previously been chatting with her, had quietly slipped away the moment Wei Zisu became angry.
Xiao Yuanzhi quickly realized this.
Her pleading immediately transformed into a stream of curses as she furiously denounced Wei Zisu’s despicable behavior.
