Senior Sister, Please Act Human! - Chapter 2
Wei Zisu kept her eyes fixed on the pale-faced person lying on the bed, yet not the slightest trace of emotion could be seen on her face. No one knew what she was thinking at that moment.
Just then, a woman dressed in an emerald-green gauze dress entered through the doorway. She respectfully addressed Wei Zisu.
“Eldest Senior Sister, Master is looking for you.”
“I understand.”
After Wei Zisu left, the woman in green glanced once more at Xiao Yuanzhi on the bed. Her eyes were filled with disgust and disdain. Even though Xiao Yuanzhi appeared completely harmless at that moment, the woman still let out a cold snort before hurriedly following Wei Zisu out of the room.
No one knew exactly how long Xiao Yuanzhi lay in bed. In any case, she did not wake until dusk—and when she did, the situation became somewhat awkward.
While still asleep, Xiao Yuanzhi sensed a faint, delicate fragrance drifting into her nose. The scent seemed to stimulate a nerve in her brain, making her want to wake up and see who it belonged to.
She slowly opened her eyes…
A round, bun-like face appeared directly in front of her.
The two of them—one with wide eyes and the other with even wider ones—stared at each other and blinked.
Before Xiao Yuanzhi could figure out what was going on, the bun-faced girl shouted toward the doorway, “Eldest Senior Sister! Little Junior Sister is awake! Hurry over!”
Xiao Yuanzhi blinked again.
What the hell was this?
“Yan’er, do not make such a racket.”
That cool female voice once again reached Xiao Yuanzhi’s ears.
She hurriedly looked toward the doorway.
It seemed she still had not woken up. In that case, she had better take a good look at the woman who possessed such a beautiful voice.
Fortunately, her anticipation was not in vain.
A graceful woman with a slender figure and light footsteps entered the room.
She wore a white gauze dress untouched by even a speck of dust. A sash of water-blue silk and soft smoke-like gauze was tied around her waist in an elegant bow. Half of her ink-black hair had been gently pinned up with a Weiling hairpin, while the rest cascaded down her back.
She slowly walked toward Xiao Yuanzhi…
Only when she drew closer did Xiao Yuanzhi see how exquisite her features were. Her skin was luminous and smooth as jade. Even without a trace of makeup, her beauty was enough to dazzle anyone who looked at her.
However, her calm eyes held not the slightest ripple, revealing none of her emotions. Her lips were soft and rosy, yet no smile capable of toppling kingdoms adorned them. They merely added a cold touch of color to her frosty face.
Her entire presence clearly warned strangers to keep their distance.
But how could Xiao Yuanzhi possibly care about any of that right now?
Seeing that the woman’s gaze remained fixed on her, a blush immediately spread across Xiao Yuanzhi’s cheeks. She had completely lost the ferocity she had displayed while beating that scumbag over the head earlier.
This is so embarrassing! What am I supposed to do when a beautiful woman keeps staring at me?
Wei Zisu remained expressionless, but an almost imperceptible trace of surprise flashed through her eyes.
Why was her little junior sister behaving so strangely today?
Could falling into the lake have filled her brain with water?
Although Wei Zisu had no desire to concern herself with Xiao Yuanzhi, she was still the eldest senior sister. For appearance’s sake, she had to at least pretend to care.
She asked coldly, “Xiao Yuanzhi, are you still feeling unwell anywhere?”
Anyone could hear how perfunctory the question was, but Xiao Yuanzhi did not interpret it that way.
Her little heart was pounding wildly.
The beautiful woman had asked her a question. What was she supposed to say?
Just as Wei Zisu had waited long enough to assume Xiao Yuanzhi would not answer, she heard her stammer, “I… I… I… I… I don’t eat…”
Xiao Yuanzhi’s face grew even redder.
She wished she could slap herself twice. Why was her tongue malfunctioning so badly? Was this not supposed to be her own dream?
Great. Now she had embarrassed herself in front of the beautiful woman.
Flustered, Xiao Yuanzhi hurriedly waved her hands, only to make an even greater mess of her words.
“No, no, no! That’s not… I mean, I’m not hungry.”
Xiao Yuanzhi sank deeper into embarrassment.
When she looked at the beautiful woman again, she saw that the woman was merely watching her. She had neither scolded her nor rolled her eyes.
Xiao Yuanzhi forced herself to calm down and took several deep breaths before finally managing to express herself clearly.
“No, what I mean is… I’m fine!”
Wei Zisu was still somewhat puzzled.
After rescuing Xiao Yuanzhi from the lake, she had immediately changed her into dry clothes.
Moreover, they were both disciples of Cangfeng Manor and had practiced martial arts since childhood. Logically speaking, Xiao Yuanzhi’s body should not have been this frail.
Could she have been slacking off again?
“Xiao Yuanzhi, there are only five months left until the deadline for the masters’ assessment. Surely you have not forgotten?”
Still ashamed by her earlier embarrassment, Xiao Yuanzhi kept her head lowered and did not dare look at her again.
Wei Zisu took her silence as confirmation.
“Since you remember, your training will begin tomorrow.”
Seeing that Xiao Yuanzhi still had her head lowered, Wei Zisu showed a rare moment of consideration.
“Considering that you fell into the lake and your body is still weak, we will move it to the Hour of the Goat tomorrow.”
With that, Wei Zisu turned to leave the room.
Seeing that Wei Zisu was actually about to go, Xiao Yuanzhi suddenly reconsidered.
This was her dream. How could she act like such a coward?
Of course she could not!
She reached out and grabbed Wei Zisu’s hand.
Wei Zisu had never expected Xiao Yuanzhi to do such a thing. What surprised her even more was that Xiao Yuanzhi suddenly tugged hard, pulling her backward.
Wei Zisu stumbled and accidentally fell onto the bed.
The next moment, Xiao Yuanzhi leaned over her.
Xiao Yuanzhi secretly laughed to herself.
Now this was a perfect display of maximum girlfriend power.
And so, the following scene unfolded.
Xiao Yuanzhi planted both hands on either side of Wei Zisu’s body. Gazing down at the beautiful woman beneath her from such a close distance, her little heart began beating even faster.
The bun-faced Yan’er stood beside them, so shocked that her jaw nearly dropped to the floor.
She could practically feel the surrounding air freeze.
Not only that—it had suddenly become rather chilly.
Could someone please tell her why the little junior sister, who had always been famous for her delicate weakness, had awakened from one nap and somehow gained the courage to pin down their untouchable eldest senior sister?
Were the two of them not rumored to be sworn enemies?
Wei Zisu stared at Xiao Yuanzhi, who was pressing down on top of her. Her face remained perfectly calm, but a raging inferno had already ignited inside her.
Very well.
No one had ever dared behave so disrespectfully toward her before, yet Xiao Yuanzhi had accomplished it with ease.
Xiao Yuanzhi carefully studied Wei Zisu’s face and sighed admiringly.
“Pretty Sister, you’re so beautiful!”
Wei Zisu scoffed inwardly.
Did Xiao Yuanzhi think a little flattery would extinguish her anger?
She was smiling so sweetly at her. Did she truly think Wei Zisu was as easily won over as those senior and junior brothers?
With only a light push, Wei Zisu shoved Xiao Yuanzhi away.
She straightened her clothes, suppressed the fury boiling inside her, and coldly addressed the person sitting on the bed.
“Xiao Yuanzhi, it appears you no longer require additional rest. Report to the training grounds at the Hour of the Tiger.”
Xiao Yuanzhi blinked, her face filled with confusion.
“What training?”
Seeing Wei Zisu turn to leave again, she hurriedly stopped her.
“Pretty Sister, don’t go! Let me look at you a little longer. I’ll probably wake up soon.”
Look at her a little longer?
Did Xiao Yuanzhi take her for some performer on a stage or a street entertainer?
At that thought, Wei Zisu’s expression grew even colder. Unable to restrain herself, she began, “Xiao—”
Before she could finish, Xiao Yuanzhi interrupted her again.
“Pretty Sister, don’t be angry! Getting angry all the time will make you age faster. Besides, nothing bad will happen just because I look at you for a while. Why are you being so stingy? This is only a dream anyway, so let me touch—”
Seeing Xiao Yuanzhi’s words become increasingly outrageous—and noticing that she was even trying to put her hands on her—Wei Zisu no longer wished to waste another word on her.
She reached for the sword hanging on the wall.
Before Xiao Yuanzhi could extend her hand, she saw a flash of cold light.
The sword’s tip was pointed directly at her throat.
She froze.
After only a second, she pushed the sword aside and laughed.
“Stop fooling around!”
But the next moment, the blade flashed again.
Several strands of hair drifted down with perfect accuracy and landed in Xiao Yuanzhi’s palm.
She stared at the severed strands in her hand, utterly dumbstruck with fright. Then she heard the sound of the sword sliding back into its sheath.
Xiao Yuanzhi gazed blankly at Wei Zisu, who stood before her holding the sword.
Their eyes met.
The chill in Wei Zisu’s gaze was so intense that Xiao Yuanzhi involuntarily shuddered.
Once she recovered, she hurriedly began applauding.
Wearing a smile even uglier than crying, she raised a thumb toward Wei Zisu.
“Wow! Heroine, you’re incredible! You’re truly a hero among women!”
After speaking, she fell backward, closed her eyes, and lay flat on the bed.
However, it was not long before she sat up again.
She opened her eyes and looked.
Fuck!
The heroine was still there!
“No, no, no! This is impossible! I must be dreaming!”
“That’s right! I’m dreaming. I’m dreaming. I’m definitely dreaming!”
As she repeated the words, Xiao Yuanzhi raised her hand to her mouth and bit down.
“Hiss—!”
It hurt.
She was not dreaming?
Xiao Yuanzhi still seemed unwilling to believe it and quickly found another excuse.
“Then my eyes must be playing tricks on me! That’s it—my eyes are playing tricks on me!”
And so, under Wei Zisu’s watchful gaze, Xiao Yuanzhi performed an entire routine of eye exercises.
When she finished, she discovered that the heroine was still there.
If doing it once did not work, then perhaps she should do it again?
Xiao Yuanzhi performed another full set of eye exercises while continuously counting aloud.
“One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight! Two, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight! Three, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight…”
When she finished and opened her eyes, the heroine was still there!
Not only that, but she was staring at Xiao Yuanzhi as though she were mentally ill.
After witnessing Xiao Yuanzhi’s bizarre behavior, Wei Zisu became certain that water really had entered her brain.
However, that did not mean Wei Zisu would overlook Xiao Yuanzhi’s disrespectful actions.
“Xiao Yuanzhi, remember this. I will be waiting for you at the training grounds during the Hour of the Tiger!”
With that, she left the room.
Yan’er, who stood nearby, stared at the completely dumbfounded Xiao Yuanzhi with a horrified expression.
“It’s over, it’s over, it’s over! Little Junior Sister, you actually provoked Eldest Senior Sister! She even intends to supervise you personally!”
“You’re finished!”
Yan’er’s voice was so loud and piercing that Xiao Yuanzhi’s eardrums hurt.
Eldest Senior Sister?
Personally supervising her?
WTF?
Xiao Yuanzhi rubbed her ears and looked at Yan’er again.
Although Yan’er wore a frightened expression, why did it seem as though she was also waiting eagerly to watch a good show?
There even appeared to be a hint of delight at Xiao Yuanzhi’s misfortune…
Before Xiao Yuanzhi could ask her for any useful information, Yan’er hurriedly left.
Xiao Yuanzhi looked into the bronze mirror before her.
Reflected inside was the face of a fifteen- or sixteen-year-old girl who looked absolutely nothing like her original self.
Her initial shock had now turned into endless sighing.
To think that she, an exemplary young citizen who upheld the Five Stresses and Four Beauties, had somehow ended up here after merely falling asleep!
Xiao Yuanzhi examined the room several times but failed to find a single electrical appliance.
She closed her eyes in anguish.
What was she supposed to do?
Xiao Yuanzhi thought for a long time but could not come up with even half a solution.
After all, what few brain cells she possessed had already been completely squeezed dry by that goddamned Maomao operations team.
Grrrrumble—
Xiao Yuanzhi rubbed her stomach and looked toward the table.
There was nothing on it except a single cup of water.
That heroine and the bun-faced girl from earlier did not possess even the slightest awareness that they ought to care for a sick person. They had not even been willing to leave her a single snack.
She sighed again and crawled back into bed.
She had suddenly arrived in a completely unfamiliar place where she knew neither the people nor the surroundings. It was already so late, and if she recklessly went outside, there was no telling what trouble she might encounter.
Deciding that less trouble was always better than more, she endured her hunger and lay down.
Perhaps because she had fallen into the lake, sleep came quickly.
Before long, she was fast asleep.
