The Black Lotus Stole The White Moonlight [Rebirth] - Chapter 6
This was the second time.
An entire month had passed since Mu Tianyin last experienced a dream like this.
Mu Tianyin had always possessed a pure heart and few desires. Given her state of mind, she believed it was utterly impossible for her to dream of such things on her own.
If the problem did not lie with her, then the young woman before her was clearly the suspicious one.
At that thought, Mu Tianyin’s elegant brows lifted slightly. She lowered her eyes and stared at Bai An’an for a moment, raising one arm before slowly lowering it again.
Mu Tianyin always wore white robes with wide sleeves.
As far as Bai An’an was concerned, such clothing was certainly beautiful, but somewhat inconvenient.
Besides, white was far too bleak. It always made her think of corpses.
She raised her eyes to Mu Tianyin, the smile on her face growing sweeter and more cloying. Inwardly, however, she thought that not only did this woman love wearing white, but her pale face was also white enough to be frightening.
She wrapped both arms tightly around Mu Tianyin’s waist. Feeling how slender the waist encircled by her arms was, she secretly marveled.
Mu Tianyin was extremely tall. Even an ordinary man standing beside her would be overshadowed. Who would have thought that beneath those robes, she was hiding such a delicate, slender waist?
Smiling, Bai An’an could not resist gently stroking it with her fingers.
The instant Mu Tianyin felt that touch against her waist, her expression froze. A moment later, two faint patches of red abruptly appeared on her pale face.
She lowered her eyes and said coldly, “You…”
Hm?
Could Bai An’an have touched a particularly ticklish spot?
She secretly raised her brows, but her expression remained perfectly innocent. Tilting up her snow-white little face, she gazed at Mu Tianyin with her moist almond-shaped eyes.
“Senior Sister?”
Mu Tianyin remained still for a moment before turning her eyes away slightly. “Release me first.”
Although she intended to wait and observe what happened, having the other woman’s arms wrapped tightly around her waist still made her extremely uncomfortable.
When had she ever been this intimate with anyone? Even among the fellow disciples with whom she cultivated, their relationships had always remained as mild and restrained as water. None of them behaved like this young woman, embracing her at every opportunity.
Instead of releasing her, Bai An’an tightened her arms even further.
She stubbornly pressed her lips together as her eyes gradually turned red. “I won’t! Senior Sister, have you grown tired of me? Is that why you ignored me for an entire month?”
“If I did something wrong, you have to tell me, all right?”
Bai An’an had said those exact words during the day. Mu Tianyin immediately looked at her.
Bai An’an stared intently at Mu Tianyin, clinging to her body like a vine.
With sorrowful eyes, she pleaded, “I know I have nothing. Senior Sister must be angry because I haven’t given you anything in return. That’s why you didn’t visit me for the entire month, isn’t it?”
Mu Tianyin opened her mouth to speak, but Bai An’an placed a fingertip against her lips, preventing her from saying anything.
Her finger rested gently upon Mu Tianyin’s soft lips. Bai An’an smiled mournfully, yet the expression was still extraordinarily alluring.
“Senior Sister, don’t worry. An’an can repay you.”
As she spoke, she took Mu Tianyin’s hand and led her toward the bed.
Standing before it, Bai An’an pressed one palm against Mu Tianyin’s chest and attempted to push her down.
However, Mu Tianyin was both taller and far more powerful than her. How could Bai An’an possibly push her over?
Bai An’an stood there awkwardly, her little face flushed scarlet.
Mu Tianyin looked down at the palm pressed against her chest, then raised her eyes hesitantly. “What are you doing?”
Bai An’an bit her lip and quickly glanced at her before immediately withdrawing her gaze.
Staring down at the floor, she whispered, “Senior Sister, if you remain standing like this, it will be difficult for me to serve you.”
She paused before slowly continuing, “Never mind. If Senior Sister prefers doing it on the floor, then I can—”
Before Mu Tianyin could react, Bai An’an swiftly stepped forward, wrapped both arms around her neck, and pulled her closer.
…
Just as their lips were about to touch, Mu Tianyin woke up.
She had originally intended to remain still and see what the other woman planned to do, but in the end, she could not overcome her body’s instincts and instantly startled herself awake.
She sat cross-legged on the couch, maintaining her meditative posture as she turned her head slightly toward the window.
The night was at its darkest. A crescent moon hung in the sky, casting cold, silvery light.
Mu Tianyin stared blankly as she recalled everything that had happened in the dream.
“City Lord, we have found the information you requested,” a disciple transmitted from outside the door.
Mu Tianyin paused. With a sweep of her long sleeve, she returned to her usual composure.
“Come in.”
After the first dream, Mu Tianyin had ordered her private guards to investigate the woman with the Profound Yin bloodline who shared Bai An’an’s name.
One month later, every detail they had uncovered about that woman was presented in the letter before her.
Mu Tianyin read the letter in its entirety, from beginning to end.
The more she read, the more bewildered she became.
The woman with the Profound Yin bloodline had come from Yinzhou. She had moved to Crescent Village with her mother after her mother remarried. Ordinarily, she lived an extremely sheltered life and seldom ventured outside. The only improper thing she had ever done was become entangled with Mu Tianyin’s eldest disciple, Song Qiyu.
The woman’s identity and experiences were all perfectly clear and beyond suspicion.
Her private guards had also traveled to Yinzhou to investigate. Every detail concerning the woman’s appearance and identity matched.
Nothing appeared suspicious.
Thinking of Bai An’an and those two dreams, Mu Tianyin could not help frowning slightly.
Song Qiyu had been imprisoned at the Cliff of Reflection, a forbidden area behind Guangzhao Peak. Guards were stationed at the foot of the mountain, and no one was permitted to pass through without authorization.
Of course, as the lord of all Mingxin City, Mu Tianyin could go wherever she wished. No one would dare question her.
When Mu Tianyin descended gracefully onto the Cliff of Reflection in her white robes, Song Qiyu was sitting motionlessly atop the cliff, lost in thought.
She did not know how long she would remain imprisoned there. Perhaps it would be a dozen years, or perhaps several centuries.
The passage of time felt unbearably long. Only one month had passed, yet she already found every moment agonizing.
For a cultivator who had lived through countless years, this was almost inconceivable.
She sat upon the barren cliff, gazing out over the sea of clouds as the biting mountain wind swept over her. She forced herself not to think about the things she feared.
Sensing movement behind her, she abruptly turned around. When she saw Mu Tianyin standing there with a cold expression, she exclaimed in surprise, “Master? Why are you here?”
After speaking, she hurriedly rose. Worried that she looked disheveled, she even brushed the dust from her skirt.
She bent forward and bowed respectfully to Mu Tianyin before straightening and asking nervously, “May I ask why Master has come?”
Mu Tianyin glanced at her and nodded coolly before asking, “Was the woman with the Profound Yin bloodline named Bai An’an?”
Hearing that name again—and from the lips of Mu Tianyin, the woman she loved—left Song Qiyu dazed for an instant.
She quickly composed herself and lowered her eyes. “Yes.”
Mu Tianyin stood still, allowing the biting wind to toss her long hair. Her jade-white face looked even colder and more distant.
“I wish to examine your memories. Are you willing?”
Song Qiyu had never expected Mu Tianyin to seek her out for this. Surprise appeared on her face. Her lips moved twice before she fell silent.
Although she did not regret killing Bai An’an, her master was noble and upright. Those memories were hardly honorable.
After a moment, she slowly nodded and willingly opened her memories to Mu Tianyin.
Mu Tianyin was her master.
Whatever Mu Tianyin wanted to do, Song Qiyu would naturally permit it.
The fact that her master was willing to ask her consent was already an immense blessing. How could she possibly refuse?
Mu Tianyin’s raven-black eyelashes fluttered. Her gaze settled between Song Qiyu’s brows as she raised her hand and placed one fingertip there.
In an instant, Mu Tianyin entered Song Qiyu’s memories.
Song Qiyu had lowered all her defenses against her, allowing Mu Tianyin to easily locate the memories from one month ago and appear precisely where the young woman had been.
Night changed into day in the blink of an eye.
Mu Tianyin walked gracefully along a narrow path in Crescent Village. Beneath a large locust tree, she discovered the young woman’s figure.
She wore a long green dress that emphasized her delicate waist. For some inexplicable reason, even the sight of her back seemed familiar.
Before Mu Tianyin could consider why, the young woman turned around, revealing a fair and delicate little face. Looking in Mu Tianyin’s direction, her almond-shaped eyes immediately lit up, and she ran over joyfully.
Mu Tianyin stood there in a daze as the young woman passed straight through her.
Turning her head, she watched the young woman happily throw herself into Song Qiyu’s arms, her little face flushed.
Mu Tianyin studied her features—from her almond-shaped eyes and pert nose to her soft pink lips, which resembled flower petals. Something stirred faintly inside her heart.
This young woman’s appearance could not compare to even one-tenth of Bai An’an’s beauty, yet traces of Bai An’an could still be seen in her.
No matter what else had happened, this young woman had saved Mu Tianyin’s life. Therefore, Mu Tianyin patiently continued watching.
The young woman and Song Qiyu chatted and laughed together as they returned to a small house in Crescent Village.
Not long afterward, Song Qiyu stepped outside and stood in the courtyard.
Mu Tianyin saw the movements of her hands. It was a communication seal used by the disciples of Mingxin City.
After a moment’s consideration, Mu Tianyin realized it was probably a message from her youngest disciple, Zhai Anyi.
She did not need to look to know what had been written.
At that time, Mu Tianyin had been lying in bed, enduring the agony inflicted by the Heart-Inquiring Gu.
Gu insects had originally been nothing more than a mortal technique. At some unknown point, however, the Blood Demon had abruptly risen to prominence.
The Heart-Inquiring Gu was one of his signature methods. Everyone who was carelessly afflicted and failed to take it seriously had paid the price.
Mu Tianyin had initially paid it little attention as well, never expecting to suffer so greatly because of it.
By the time Mu Tianyin finished contemplating the matter, night had completely fallen.
The two women who had been chatting and laughing together during the day had now turned their weapons against one another, their relationship shattered into enmity.
She saw the terrified young woman fleeing for her life, as well as her eldest disciple pursuing relentlessly with the Qiushui Sword in hand.
The young woman was merely a mortal who had never cultivated. How could she possibly outrun Song Qiyu, a Golden Core cultivator?
Song Qiyu drew her sword, and the blade pierced through the young woman’s chest almost instantly.
Mu Tianyin watched the young woman fall pale-faced into Song Qiyu’s arms, completely powerless to resist as the blood was taken from her heart. A strange tightness instantly flashed through Mu Tianyin’s chest.
She had cultivated for several thousand years and had long since become indifferent to life and death.
Furthermore, her cultivation technique did not permit her to experience significant emotional fluctuations.
Thus, that faint tightness passed swiftly through her heart before immediately vanishing without a trace.
After viewing the entire memory, Mu Tianyin left the Cliff of Reflection and returned to her sleeping quarters.
She sat cross-legged on the couch and attempted to meditate, but she could not enter the proper state.
All she could do was close her eyes, and everything she had just witnessed immediately resurfaced in her mind.
The instant her eyes closed, the scene before her abruptly changed.
When she opened them again, she saw Bai An’an dressed in a delicate green robe, suddenly moving close to her.
After returning to her body, Bai An’an had become increasingly convinced that victory was already within reach and that she needed to seize the opportunity before her.
Mu Tianyin had hurriedly awakened earlier that day. Surely that meant Bai An’an had managed to stir her heartstrings at least a little, causing her to wake up so urgently.
Why not strike while the iron was hot and win her over as soon as possible?
Her eyes curved with a radiant smile as she called softly, “Senior Sister…”
Mu Tianyin’s eyes snapped open. She raised one hand, seized Bai An’an by the throat, and demanded coldly, “Who exactly are you?”
Bai An’an: “…”
That was not how her script was supposed to go!
