The Unhinged O Has Designs On Me - Chapter 6
Yue Xing suspected she had just heard a nightmare.
Ming Le, however, was still confidently explaining her reasoning. “That’s right. Your hair and eyes are both pitch-black, and you’re pretty too. Doesn’t that perfectly match the opposite of what she said about me—”
“Stop!” Yue Xing did not want to hear her keep going. She was afraid she really would have nightmares.
Yue Xing was only curious about Ming Le’s attitude toward Shen Jingmian.
“Then according to what you said, she clearly hated you. Why were you so happy just now when you heard she’d be teaching our class?”
Now that the topic had returned to herself, Ming Le’s eyes began to drift again, and her words came out vaguely.
“We were still little back then. Children’s words don’t count. Shen Jingmian never said anything about me afterward. And you don’t know, she’s been outstanding since she was young. Although she’s an omega, she…”
As Ming Le kept speaking, the admiration in her words could hardly be hidden.
Listening, Yue Xing’s eyes gradually lowered as well, her beautiful peach-blossom eyes turning helpless.
Weren’t the protagonists and villain supposed to stand opposed to each other? Why did Ming Le seem completely like an intimate follower of Shen Jingmian?
“So you only admire her. You don’t like her?”
This time, Ming Le nodded without hesitation. “Right.”
Yue Xing held her forehead and wanted to sigh. That rotten story was still true after all.
Ming Le’s shyness earlier was probably because she felt embarrassed that, as an alpha, she admired an omega. Yue Xing had overthought it.
Thinking this, Yue Xing could not help feeling glad she had not shown any hostility toward Shen Jingmian in front of Ming Le just now. Otherwise…
“Oh right, you didn’t want Shen Jingmian to teach our class earlier, did you?”
Ming Le remembered Yue Xing’s expression from before and hesitantly added,
“You looked pretty unhappy.”
Ming Le’s eyes were bright and piercing, her expression serious.
Yue Xing had no doubt that if she said she was unhappy, those words would reach Shen Jingmian’s ears in the blink of an eye.
So Yue Xing smiled and waved her hand in denial with great sincerity.
“No, I’m very happy.”
“Senior Shen You said their third-year practical classes are very heavy and that they’re basically always running around outside. I was just worried that if Senior Shen has to spare time between missions to teach us, wouldn’t it be too tiring for her?”
Her words were very considerate.
Ming Le also understood. So the bitterness on Yue Xing’s face had been because she was concerned about Shen Jingmian.
She comforted Yue Xing too. “Don’t worry. From what I know, Shen Jingmian should have completed her practical courses long ago. This little bit of class is nothing to her.”
Yue Xing’s eyes lit up, and she turned to look at Ming Le at once.
Right! Wasn’t this a ready-made storage vault of Shen Jingmian information?
They had nearly been engaged as children, and now that they were older, Ming Le also understood Shen Jingmian so deeply that she even knew her course progress. Then surely Shen Jingmian’s pheromone disorder would not be a problem either!
Seeing Yue Xing’s eyes shine, clearly very happy that Shen Jingmian would not be tired out by this, Ming Le’s eyes curved, and she was very pleased.
Shen Jingmian’s reputation outside had always been terrible. To happen upon a roommate who cared about Shen Jingmian just as she did was truly good luck.
“Yue Xing, it really is nice that you’re my roommate.”
Ming Le smiled and patted Yue Xing’s shoulder, quite happy.
Yue Xing shared in her joy.
·
Yue Xing was no longer joyful now.
Someone please tell her why Shen Jingmian had appeared outside her classroom door.
Her elbow was nudged. Yue Xing gave a low “Mm.”
Ming Le excitedly shared with her in a whisper, “Yue Xing, look. Shen Jingmian is standing at our classroom door.”
Yue Xing had seen her long ago too.
She let out a muffled sound, very unwilling, and did not want to look.
On the platform, the director was saying some official opening-of-school remarks. Yue Xing had only lazily narrowed her eyes a moment ago, but the instant she did, she felt a chill all over her body.
Her body instinctively followed that feeling and looked over. Yue Xing immediately lost all trace of sleepiness.
At some point, Shen Jingmian had appeared outside the door. Her gaze seemed to pass through the window and glance this way. Yue Xing did not know whether Shen Jingmian was looking at her, but it was quite intimidating.
Her gaze was indifferent. At first glance, with her flowing silver hair and pale face, she looked like a ghost.
A vengeful ghost here to claim a life.
Yue Xing glanced over, then decisively withdrew her gaze, pretending she had not seen Shen Jingmian. She also subconsciously wanted to believe Shen Jingmian had not been looking at her.
But Ming Le urgently shared every one of Shen Jingmian’s expressions with her, including but not limited to how beautiful her outfit was, refusing to miss even the slightest change in expression.
Yue Xing did not look even once, but her senses were touched again and again.
Shen Jingmian’s gaze had never left.
Ming Le, that idiot, was still struggling beside her. “Do you think if we keep looking at her like this, we’ll bother her?”
Where did this “we” come from? What bothering?
Yue Xing kept her gaze forward. She had originally intended to let Ming Le keep watching. Maybe if she watched and watched, she would start liking Shen Jingmian.
That would also be a good thing for Yue Xing.
But from the corner of her eye, Yue Xing quietly discovered that they were not the only ones who had seen Shen Jingmian. The discussion in this small corner gradually grew louder, faintly showing signs of turning into a commotion.
This was very bad.
Yue Xing pulled back the swaying Ming Le, straightening her neck and eyes, putting on a proper appearance.
“Stop looking at her.”
Ming Le thought the director on the platform had noticed their side, so she followed Yue Xing’s concern and sat properly. But she still could not help telling Yue Xing what she was confused about.
“Why did Shen Jingmian come to school when there’s something wrong with her pheromones? She…”
Before Ming Le could finish, she saw the person who had just pulled her upright and told her not to look tilt her own body, stretch her neck, and look toward Shen Jingmian.
Her hand was so anxious that it braced directly on Ming Le’s leg.
Yue Xing swiftly swept her eyes over Shen Jingmian, but she could not see anything wrong. She could only ask, “Where? Where is there a problem?”
Under the director’s death stare, Ming Le smilingly twirled a strand of hair around her finger, her pink hair slowly flicking with an unhurried grace, her air noble and refined.
The words choked in the director’s throat, neither going up nor down. His face turned purple, and he forcibly swallowed back the reprimand in his mouth.
He recognized this one. The future heir of the Ming family was not someone a mere year-level director like him could scold in public.
Ming Le curved her lips in satisfaction and pressed Yue Xing’s shoulder a little lower as well. Seeing her confusion, she said softly, “Let’s talk quietly.”
Yue Xing understood. She lowered her shoulders and body, hiding in front of the desk. She was certain that from this position, only she could see Shen Jingmian one-sidedly.
“You said there’s something wrong with her pheromones. What exactly is wrong?”
Ming Le leaned down. Their shoulders touched, and they were very close as she explained to Yue Xing in a low voice.
“What she’s wearing around her neck is an omega suppressant chain. I once had one custom-made for my younger sister. Usually, it’s only used during periods of pheromone disorder.”
Yue Xing narrowed her eyes. She had never come into contact with alpha and omega items before, so she knew basically nothing about this.
“Isn’t that just an ordinary necklace?”
Shen Jingmian’s brows and eyes were cold and clear. Her uniform naturally carried a powerful presence. With silver hair, pale skin, gray eyes, and a tall figure, she was imposing just by standing there.
No one would imagine that someone like her was actually in a period of pheromone disorder and even wearing a suppressant chain.
Yue Xing thought that if a mission required it, Shen Jingmian would be very suited to seduction. It would absolutely raise the success rate.
Shen Jingmian looked beautiful wearing the suppressant chain.
To someone like Yue Xing, who wanted to attack Shen Jingmian, putting on that chain made it far too easy for people to let down their guard.
A thin chain circled the omega’s neck, like a display cord deliberately tied on when selling an omega, arousing pity and making her seem vulnerable.
Yue Xing disliked this.
“These suppressant chains are all custom-made. What they sell is a sense of naturalness. They look no different from ordinary necklaces, but at the gland position, there’s a highly precise suppression point designed…”
A circle of silver chain wound around Shen Jingmian’s neck and settled into the hollow of her collarbone. At the back of her neck, black leather passed through holes at both ends, then connected to the chain and hung behind her neck, small and delicate.
At first, Yue Xing had not seen its subtle design. It was only when Shen Jingmian slightly turned her neck and her hair happened to slide aside that she caught a glimpse of it.
Black pressed against white. Shen Jingmian was like snow from head to toe, and precisely because of that, the black at her neck was especially striking.
Yue Xing seriously committed every detail of Shen Jingmian’s suppressant chain to memory. At the same time, she did not forget to ask Ming Le, “Does this disorder period feel very uncomfortable?”
Ming Le was just about to answer when Shen Jingmian moved, walking into the classroom.
She hurriedly patted Yue Xing’s shoulder and lifted her up.
“Hey, hey, hey, she’s coming in, she’s coming in! Shen Jingmian is coming in! Get up quickly!”
The rising and falling discussions exploded the instant Shen Jingmian entered. Everyone’s gazes gathered toward the platform.
“Who is that!? Is she our teacher? She’s so young?!”
“Oh no, oh no, oh no. Why would Shen Jingmian come be our class assistant? Isn’t she preparing for the competition?!”
The discussions around her entered Yue Xing’s ears one after another. Her lips pressed tight as she looked toward the center of the platform along with everyone else.
Shen Jingmian was speaking to the director, her expression faint. In just a few words, she sent him out.
When the director left, his face was smiling like a blooming flower, looking as if he were basking in a spring breeze and delighted with himself.
Once the director left, the discussion in the classroom grew even louder, with people guessing Shen Jingmian’s identity and exclaiming over her beauty.
Shen Jingmian stood at the center of the platform. A person like her had long since grown used to being watched. Even now, when she was in an environment as noisy as a marketplace, she remained unmoved, her posture calm and cold.
Although Yue Xing felt that Shen Jingmian was not in a very good mood right now.
Ming Le leaned over, wanting to tell her the news they had missed while the two of them were talking.
“Yue—”
Yue Xing raised a finger to signal silence. “She’s unhappy. Don’t talk.”
Ming Le looked back toward the center of the platform. Shen Jingmian still wore that cold expression, as if everything around her was unable to enter her eyes.
The Shen Jingmian Ming Le had seen had always been like this: cold and proud, outstanding and self-assured. As fellow heirs, Shen Jingmian was an unquestionable role model in her eyes.
Ming Le concentrated and looked for quite a while, but she could not see where Shen Jingmian was displeased.
It was just that this classroom was indeed so noisy it made one’s ears ache.
Yue Xing stared fixedly at Shen Jingmian, guessing the reason she had appeared here.
Was she here for Du Nian and Ming Le, the two protagonists? Or was she here to settle accounts with Yue Xing?
The best possibility was coincidence, but Yue Xing did not quite believe that.
Her thoughts drifted, but her gaze kept following Shen Jingmian. It moved with the crowd and did not stand out.
“Quiet.”
Shen Jingmian opened her mouth lightly, her words threaded with mental power. The pressure descended in full.
The classroom fell silent in an instant.
The classroom became quiet too quickly, as if everyone’s ears had been cut off. Yue Xing blinked.
She did not understand what magic this one sentence had, but for some reason, Shen Jingmian suddenly seemed a little more pleasing to the eye.
Among pairs of stiff, fearful eyes was one pair that was clean and puzzled, like a piece of real gold dug out from yellow mud—very eye-catching.
The displeasure in Shen Jingmian quietly receded. Skipping the greetings, she directly issued the task.
“In one month, there will be a class elimination match. The content has not yet been decided. The bottom five in the match will be expelled directly.”
The news came suddenly, and Shen Jingmian spoke it lightly, yet the price of failure was so heavy it was unbearable.
Those with impatient tempers immediately stood up in public.
“Using expulsion as the condition for failure isn’t appropriate, is it? On what basis can the school dismiss us just because of one elimination match?”
“One month, and there isn’t even any content? Are you insane?”
There were even some who directly began to suspect whether this so-called elimination match had been deliberately set up by Shen Jingmian to make things difficult for them.
“Does this rule only apply to our class, or does it apply to everyone?”
Yue Xing was used to sudden accidents. After hearing Shen Jingmian’s words, she did not say a thing.
Rather than complain, it was better to directly prepare an intensive plan.
She had already asked around. In Class C, there was only one beta, and that was her. The alpha-to-omega ratio was about seven to three.
No matter what they competed in, she was the person standing at the edge of the elimination cliff. But Chixing’s background was very useful to her, so she had to stay.
Besides, if she left Chixing, it would be difficult for her to get close to Shen Jingmian and make a move.
Or, Yue Xing pondered carefully.
Could she find an opportunity to strike at Shen Jingmian within this one month?
Ming Le did not know whether it was her imagination, but Shen Jingmian seemed to be looking this way rather often.
The first time Shen Jingmian looked over, Ming Le thought she had discovered her, so she took the initiative to curve her eyes and smile at her.
Her smiling face received no kindness. Shen Jingmian was still cold-faced.
The second time, Ming Le faintly realized something was wrong.
Shen Jingmian never said anything twice. Likewise, warnings were the same.
But now, Shen Jingmian had already cast her third glance this way.
Ming Le was certain that it could not possibly be directed at her. Or rather, it had better not be directed at her.
There were quite a few people sitting on this side, but basically all of them were cursing that damned elimination match. The only quiet ones were her and Yue Xing.
Could it be…
Ming Le propped up her face and looked to the side with what could only be called extreme caution.
With that one look, her heart sank.
Yue Xing.
She was actually spacing out right in front of Shen Jingmian!
Shen Jingmian must have noticed Yue Xing spacing out. Ming Le inwardly cried that this was bad.
Wasn’t Yue Xing walking straight into the line of fire?
