A L*st at First Sight (Lily Futa) - Chapter 19
Yu Qianlin put her tools back into the toolbox and scolded Little Q harshly again. “Did you not understand what I said before? Please leave immediately and stop disturbing my work!”
Little Q moved closer, forcing her back against the wall. “You’ve been ignoring me for so long. Now that you’re finally done, you’re still unwilling to give me even a little time?”
Veins bulged on Yu Qianlin’s forehead, her chest rising and falling heavily as she struggled to control her hands.
Little Q rarely managed to sneak into the repair area and didn’t want to miss this chance. The spot was conveniently blocked by a raised car, creating a visual blind spot. She seized the opportunity, wrapped both arms around Yu Qianlin’s neck, and pinned her against the wall.
Yu Qianlin’s heart jolted in alarm. Ignoring the dirt on her gloves, she grabbed Little Q’s arms and yanked her away, leaving several obvious black smudges on her sleeves. “What are you doing? Let go!”
Little Q pressed herself against her without caring. “Sister Lin, I really like you. Can’t you just give me a chance?”
“I’ll say it one last time — don’t force me to get physical!”
“Sister Lin, don’t be so fierce. Why don’t we give it a try?”
As she spoke, she leaned in to kiss Yu Qianlin. Suddenly, the sound of clapping came from behind.
Yu Qianlin shoved her away hard, creating distance between them, then turned her head to look back. In an instant, her whole body stiffened. The hand gripping Little Q’s arm tightened, causing her to cry out in pain.
“Sister Lin, you’re hurting me.”
Yu Qianlin seemed not to hear, her eyes locked deadly on the person behind them.
Little Q followed her gaze and turned around. She saw a woman of extraordinary presence standing in the passage. Her sixth sense told her there was danger, especially from the subtle atmosphere between the woman and Yu Qianlin.
Little Q tightened her arms around Yu Qianlin’s neck and asked warily, “Who are you?”
Liu Yuelan’s lips pressed into a thin line. Hearing that, she raised an eyebrow and countered, “And who are you?”
Little Q leaned deeper into Yu Qianlin’s embrace. “I’m Sister Lin’s girlfriend. Where did you come from?”
Liu Yuelan looked at their intimate posture, grinding her back teeth. She turned her cold gaze to Yu Qianlin and asked icily, “Is it true?”
Yu Qianlin subconsciously avoided her eyes. The hand holding Little Q’s arm pulled back slightly without saying a word.
Little Q had been afraid Yu Qianlin would expose her and leave her embarrassed, but after hearing nothing for a long time, she was overjoyed and looked at Liu Yuelan even more provocatively.
Liu Yuelan felt ice-cold all over. She felt like a complete joke right now — no, she had been a joke ever since she met her. She turned and walked out quickly, biting down hard on her lower lip until deep teeth marks appeared.
Yu Qianlin listened to the sound of high heels growing fainter, her heart aching terribly. Realizing what a stupid thing she had just done, her mind became even more chaotic. When she felt someone still in her arms, she pushed Little Q away hard. Little Q, caught off guard, nearly fell to the ground. She asked irritably what that was for, but Yu Qianlin’s eyes looked murderous, scaring her into silence.
Yu Qianlin no longer paid her any attention. She tossed her gloves aside and walked out as well.
Meanwhile, Little Li had just finished checking the goods and sending off the logistics courier when she saw Liu Yuelan walking out of the repair area, radiating an aura that warned strangers to stay away.
She asked in confusion, “Miss Liu, why did you come out from the back?”
Liu Yuelan ignored her and walked straight toward the entrance. Little Li sensed something was wrong and quickly blocked her path. “Miss Liu, what happened? Did you find Sister Lin?”
Liu Yuelan didn’t speak. Her face looked terrible.
Right after, she saw Yu Qianlin also come out from the back and head straight to the office, as if she hadn’t seen Liu Yuelan at all. While she was still puzzled, she saw Little Q following behind, and immediately understood the situation. A headache hit her.
Liu Yuelan tried to walk around Little Li toward the door, but Little Li grabbed her wrist. Turning her back to Little Q, she whispered urgently, “Miss Liu, please help us. The shop is almost being ruined by her!” As she spoke, she secretly pointed behind her.
Liu Yuelan looked at Little Q, her brows tightly furrowed. “What’s going on?”
Little Li shook her head anxiously. “It’s hard to explain in a few words. Just watch for a while and you’ll understand. I really don’t know who else to ask for help. After thinking it over, you might be the only one who can do something.”
Liu Yuelan exhaled, glanced at Little Q touching up her makeup at the front desk, and moved to sit in the rest area. Little Li’s hanging heart finally eased a little.
Little Q put away her mirror and stuffed her things into her bag. When she looked up and saw Liu Yuelan still sitting there, she said discontentedly, “Who is she? Why is she still here?”
“Miss Liu is our shop’s Diamond Member. She can sit wherever she wants. It’s none of your business.”
Liu Yuelan looked at the fierce Little Li. This was the first time she had seen Little Li be so rude to someone else.
Little Q matched the person on the sofa with the membership information in the system, along with that car of hers. Even her freshly touched-up makeup couldn’t hide the jealousy and resentment on her face.
Xiao C came back from outside and was very happy to see Liu Yuelan. He introduced Little Q as his girlfriend. Little Q, having been exposed, didn’t feel embarrassed at all. Liu Yuelan just looked at her and Xiao C indifferently.
Little Li tried every possible way to expose Little Q’s true nature. The downside of this method was that she herself got angry again. After driving the person away to get some peace, Little Q happily went to the changing room to slack off.
Only after calming down did she realize Liu Yuelan had already left at some point. She took out her phone and sent a message, receiving a three-word reply.
: Leave it to me.
Little Li looked at that simple sentence and finally felt the dark clouds in her heart clear away. Because it was Liu Yuelan, she believed unconditionally.
She had already waited two days without seeing any action from Liu Yuelan. She twirled her pen randomly, wondering if she should remind her. She was truly living day by day like years.
While thinking, Little Q suddenly ran out of the women’s changing room with a look of terror on her face. Little Li rolled her eyes irritably. “Did you see a ghost? Running around so recklessly — what if you bump into someone?”
Little Q unusually didn’t argue back. She clutched her chest, went to the rest area, grabbed a bottle of ice water, and gulped down half of it in one go.
Little Li watched her in confusion. After drinking, Little Q stood there for a while longer, then returned to the front desk looking lost and dejected.
“What’s wrong with you?” Little Li loved watching drama and wanted to know what could scare her like this.
Little Q swallowed hard and was about to speak when Yu Qianlin, with slightly damp hair, walked out of the women’s changing room.
Little Li noticed that Little Q’s face no longer had its previous fake politeness, but instead… some fear. She didn’t even dare look at Yu Qianlin. Little Li grew even more curious and used her eyes to signal Yu Qianlin to pay attention to Little Q.
Yu Qianlin frowned slightly and glanced at her. She didn’t expect the other party to pretend to tidy the table and avoid looking at her. She felt puzzled for a moment but didn’t dwell on it. This was fine.
Little Li was even more surprised that Little Q had truly changed. In the following days, she didn’t pester Yu Qianlin at all. Instead, she avoided her everywhere. On the third day, she simply took the day off and didn’t come to work.
“Sister Lin, what exactly did you say to her? Why did she suddenly become a completely different person?”
Yu Qianlin’s hand paused while signing. She thought for a moment and shook her head. “I didn’t say anything. Who knows what she’s thinking now. This is much better.”
“Yeah… Sigh, finally we can have some peace.”
The person they were talking about was currently walking toward a café while looking at her phone. After confirming the location, she first peeked through the glass at the interior layout.
When she pushed the door open and entered, she spotted the woman sitting by the window at once. The ice-blue dyed ends of her hair were particularly eye-catching. She sat down opposite the woman, tossed her bag aside, crossed her arms, and leaned back in her chair, looking at her arrogantly. “What do you want from me?”
Liu Yuelan put down her cup, called the waiter, and signaled for the menu to be handed to Little Q. “Order whatever you want. It’s my treat.”
“Tch, it’s just coffee. Who wants your treat?” Little Q took the menu with disdain, but her face stiffened. She secretly swallowed hard, looking at the painfully expensive prices and English names. Forcing herself to sit up straight and pretend to think, she slid her finger across the menu and seemingly casually picked one — actually the most expensive item. “This one.”
She wanted to see what made this coffee worth so much!
After the waiter left, Liu Yuelan took out an invitation from her bag and pushed it toward her without speaking, stirring the coffee in her cup with a spoon.
Little Q took it. Her first impression was that the paper quality was excellent, with gold edging that looked very classy. She opened it and saw the contents — it was an invitation to someone’s birthday banquet, with the address and time attached. It was this weekend.
Little Q flipped the invitation back and forth several times but still didn’t see how it related to her. “What does this mean? Why give this to me?”
Liu Yuelan put down the spoon and looked at her with a faint smile. “You can search this address online.”
Little Q clicked her tongue in annoyance and impatiently typed the address into her browser. She scrolled for a long time, unwilling to look up even when the coffee arrived.
Liu Yuelan waited patiently, leisurely shaking her leg while looking at the scenery outside the window.
It took Little Q quite a while to put her phone away. She picked up the invitation again and looked at it once more, still unable to believe it. “You’re giving this to me — do you want me to go?”
“It’s just a suggestion. If you don’t want to go, that’s fine too.” Liu Yuelan said considerately.
Little Q pulled the invitation closer to herself and asked curiously, “We don’t seem that close, do we?”
Liu Yuelan smiled. “I think many things have shortcuts. Instead of fishing in a small stream, it’s better to fish in the ocean. Don’t you think?”
“Of course, but why would you be so kind?” Little Q looked suspicious.
“I just see that you’ve been doing pointless things — exhausting and hopeless. I happen to have this opportunity in hand, so I’m helping you with a small effort.” Liu Yuelan paused, then added with a smile as a reminder, “But the bigger the opportunity, the greater the competition and risk. I still need to make that clear to you in advance. After all, you haven’t experienced that kind of upper-class society.”
Liu Yuelan gave sincere, well-intentioned advice. Little Q immediately said discontentedly, “Who are you looking down on? The scheming among us poor people is no less than among you rich folks. I’ve seen plenty of it. Tch.”
Liu Yuelan lowered her eyes with a faint smile. “I was overthinking. Sorry.”
Little Q saw her lower her head and felt her vanity greatly satisfied. She was about to put the invitation into her bag when she heard Liu Yuelan across from her say, “However, as an exchange, there are a few things I need you to do.”
Little Q hugged her bag warily. “What do you want?”
“Don’t be afraid. They’re also small efforts for you.”
“Say them first.” Little Q stayed cautious.
“First, leave the shop.”
Little Q rolled her eyes. “Tch, I thought it was something big. I didn’t want to work there anyway. Don’t worry.”
“Second, break up with Xiao C.”
Little Q hesitated for a moment, imagined her upcoming wonderful life, and waved her hand. “Fine. I’ll tell him when I get back.”
Liu Yuelan’s smile faded, and her tone turned serious. “Not only break up, but also tell him the real reason. You can do whatever it takes to others — that has nothing to do with me — but you are not allowed to hurt innocent people like Xiao C again.”
Little Q felt a little embarrassed by her words. Looking at the table, she repeatedly agreed. “Okay, I got it.”
“Third…”
Little Q glared at her irritably. “Are you done? Why so many demands?”
Liu Yuelan took a sip of coffee. “Because my chips are worth it.”
Little Q opened her mouth but said nothing more.
“Third… stay far away from Yu Qianlin. Do not pester her anymore.”
Little Q glanced at her with a complicated look in her eyes, then said with unusual firmness, “Don’t worry. Even if you begged me in the future, I wouldn’t see her.”
A trace of doubt flashed in Liu Yuelan’s eyes, but she had no interest in asking more. She glanced at her watch, thinking about her next work arrangements, when Little Q asked hesitantly, “Are you very close with Yu Qianlin?”
Liu Yuelan picked up the spoon, momentarily unsure how to answer.
Seeing that she didn’t speak, Little Q thought of their previous meeting and felt even more worried. “You don’t like her, do you?”
Liu Yuelan released her hand and stared at her. The spoon clinked against the edge of the cup with a crisp sound. “None of your business.”
Little Q leaned forward anxiously, getting closer across the table. “Actually, I didn’t plan to tell anyone, but since you helped me so much, I’ll kindly tell you so you don’t fall into a pit.”
At this point, she carefully looked around, signaled Liu Yuelan to lean closer, covered her mouth with her hand, and whispered a few words into her ear.
Liu Yuelan’s expression changed drastically. She glared at her and slammed her hand on the table. “What nonsense are you spouting?”
Little Q was startled by her reaction. “Keep your voice down. Why so worked up?”
Liu Yuelan suppressed the anger in her heart. “Who told you to spread rumors?”
“I’m not! I saw it with my own eyes!”
Liu Yuelan’s expression grew even uglier. “Why would you see it with your own eyes?”
“Uh…” Little Q awkwardly touched her face. “I secretly watched her shower…” Seeing Liu Yuelan’s hand on the table clench into a fist, she quickly changed the subject. “Aiya, that’s not the point. The point is I saw it myself — she has that thing down there. I’ve dated so many boyfriends. How could I mistake a man’s thing?”
“I was so scared I ran out immediately. Luckily she didn’t notice, or she definitely would have threatened me.”
“I advise you to stay away from her too. That kind of person isn’t normal. That kind of hormone imbalance probably means mental problems, maybe even violent tendencies. Who knows, one day she might be in a bad mood and beat you up. There might even be a risk to your life!”
“I love money, but money isn’t as important as life, so I’ll definitely stay far away from her.”
Little Q finished in one breath. Seeing Liu Yuelan’s face turn pale, she knew she must have been frightened too and comforted her. “Don’t be too scared. It’s a good thing to know early. Don’t contact her again in the future. There are so many women in the world. There’s no need to fixate on her, right? Besides, she… isn’t really a woman, is she?”
Little Q sounded uncertain toward the end and muttered softly.
Liu Yuelan’s right hand dropped and gripped her left wrist. She lowered her head and remained silent for a long time. When she spoke again, her voice was full of exhaustion. “About this matter, do not tell anyone else. Otherwise…” She stared at Little Q warningly.
Little Q quickly shook her head. “I definitely won’t tell anyone. If that pervert finds out, I definitely won’t have a good end!”
Liu Yuelan heard the harsh word in her sentence. Her nails dug hard into her flesh. Through gritted teeth, she said, “You can leave now.”
“Oh.”
Little Q gathered her things and stood up, but sat back down again. “Aiya, I haven’t even taken a sip of the coffee yet! Such an expensive thing — I have to taste it!”
She picked it up and took a sip, then made a painful face as she swallowed. “Ptooey, ptooey, ptooey. What the hell is this? It tastes awful. They dare to sell it for this price? Such a rip-off. I advise you not to come to this shop in the future either. Even if you have money, you can’t be a sucker.” Seeing that Liu Yuelan wasn’t listening at all and was still digesting the previous information, she sighed. “I’ll go first. Think carefully about what I said. Sigh.”
Little Q had already left for a long time, but Liu Yuelan still maintained her previous posture. Only when her body started to ache did she powerlessly support her forehead with both hands and close her eyes. Her mind was in chaos. The previous words carried too much information for her to process anymore. After settling the bill, she quickly left.
