Paranoid Girlfriend [Transmigration into a Book] - Chapter 22
The person she most wanted to hide the allowance matter from was the female lead. Yet fate just had to play tricks on her—the first person to find out about it was actually the female lead.
Dai Shiyuan stood there in a daze for several seconds before finally suppressing the panic and despair in her heart. Expressionlessly, she said, “It’s nothing.”
After saying this, Dai Shiyuan walked past the female lead and went out.
Right now, she needed to eat something delicious to fill her stomach and comfort her frightened heart.
Watching Dai Shiyuan turn and leave, the smile on Shan Yaxin’s face instantly turned cold. After thinking for a moment, she took out her phone and made a call.
It took quite a while before the call connected. Shan Yaxin curved her lips into a smile and said gently, “Dad, do you know what Xiao Yuan wants allowance money for?”
“She must want to buy things,” Father Dai answered with a smile, his voice carrying indulgence. Very quickly, he asked in confusion, “How do you know about this?”
Shan Yaxin sneered inwardly and said half-truthfully, “Xiao Yuan told me.”
In truth, she had not wanted to get involved in this younger sister-in-law’s allowance matter. But the other party had said she absolutely had to hide it from Shan Yaxin, and that had drawn her attention. She had no choice but to manage this matter.
Hearing this, Father Dai did not doubt the truth of those words at all. He smiled and said, “From now on, I’ll send Xiao Yuan’s allowance to you. You can manage the money for her. It’s not that I’m afraid she’ll spend money recklessly. I’m just worried she might get involved with improper people. With you watching her, I can feel more at ease.”
“Dad, don’t worry. I’ll take good care of Xiao Yuan.” Shan Yaxin curved her lips, a few traces of smugness in her eyes.
She was a little impatient to see what expression her younger sister-in-law would reveal after finding out that her allowance would be managed by Shan Yaxin.
It would definitely be even more interesting than just now.
Downstairs, Dai Shiyuan found a noodle shop and ordered a large bowl of beef noodles. Just as she was eating happily, her phone rang.
It was a call from the female lead.
Looking at this number she did not want to answer, Dai Shiyuan instantly felt that even the noodles in her bowl no longer smelled good. She put down her chopsticks and sat silently for a while before answering.
If possible, she really did not want to answer the female lead’s call.
But when she thought about how the female lead had persistently called for half an hour last time, and how she would definitely have to face the female lead once she returned later, she had no choice but to pick up this call.
“Sister-in-law, is something the matter?” Dai Shiyuan asked coldly, one hand picking up her chopsticks and boredly poking at the noodles in her bowl.
“It’s nothing much.” Shan Yaxin laughed softly, sounding as though she was in a very good mood. After pausing for a moment, she continued, “Dad just told me about your allowance.”
Hearing this, Dai Shiyuan’s fingers slipped. She used too much force and nearly knocked over the bowl.
Through the phone, Shan Yaxin could hear the sound of bowl and chopsticks colliding from the other side.
At this moment, her younger sister-in-law should be panicking.
Dai Shiyuan hurriedly steadied the bowl, held the phone with both hands, and asked solemnly, “Sister-in-law, what are you trying to say?”
“Nothing much. Let’s talk when you come back. I have something to handle here, so I’ll hang up first.” After saying this with a smile, Shan Yaxin hung up.
Dai Shiyuan looked at the ended call, her brows tightly furrowed.
Ever since she had started living with the female lead, nothing had gone smoothly.
If she really continued living like this, she might not even know how she died one day.
Dai Shiyuan quickly paid the bill and walked back to the apartment with a somewhat irritated mood.
When she was almost at the door, she stopped. Only after mentally preparing herself for a while did she open it.
The instant the door opened, the female lead was indeed sitting on the sofa in the living room, holding a cup of tea, looking quite leisurely.
Dai Shiyuan’s delicate brows knitted together. She lowered her eyes, entered the apartment, and gently closed the door.
After standing by the door for a while, she finally took two steps forward and found a chair rather far from the female lead to sit down on. Coldly, she said, “I’m back. You can say it now.”
Hearing this, Shan Yaxin smiled gently and set down the teacup in her hand. Her bright, clear eyes stared tightly at the person in front of her. “Dad said that from now on, your allowance will be managed by me.”
“On what grounds?” Dai Shiyuan shot to her feet with a “whoosh” and instinctively roared, her voice so loud that it echoed through the apartment.
Seeing her lose composure like this, Shan Yaxin put on a surprised expression. After freezing for a moment, the expression on her face turned pitiful. She lowered her head and asked quietly, “Does Xiao Yuan hate Sister-in-law that much?”
Dai Shiyuan really wanted to nod. Only after taking a deep breath did she control the impulse in her heart. Trying her best to remain calm, she said, “Sister-in-law, this is my allowance. Why should it be managed by you?”
“This is Dad’s decision…” Shan Yaxin raised her head, her face full of innocence.
Dai Shiyuan nearly failed to draw breath.
This Father Dai was truly too good at digging pits for her.
First it was the apartment, and now it was the allowance. Again and again, he tied her and the female lead together. The key was that she still had no way to resist.
The more Dai Shiyuan thought about it, the angrier she became. With a cold face, she returned to her room.
Listening to the sound of the bedroom door being slammed shut, Shan Yaxin gave a cold laugh, picked up her teacup, and slowly savored the tea.
She would not let this woman escape!
