A Cannon Fodder A Has No Intention of Moving Up - Chapter 25
An Muxue suddenly pushed her away again.
Lin Yue: “?”
“I still have to keep filming…”
An Muxue lowered her eyes and started to walk away quickly, but then she suddenly turned back, wagging a finger at her.
“You stay right here. You are not allowed to give anyone else a massage!”
Although Lin Yue didn’t quite understand why, she obediently agreed.
Over the next few days, An Muxue discovered that her craving for the sandalwood scent could no longer be satisfied by a few secret kisses at noon. Especially since the plot they were filming involved a partner’s infidelity, she had to tap into certain emotions for her performance, which often left her feeling genuinely upset.
Today, there was a crying scene.
After she finished filming, her eyes were swimming with tears and the corners of her eyes were red. She ignored the director and went straight to find Lin Yue.
Lin Yue had just received her lunch box for the break. The crew’s meals were prepared by a Chinese chef in large batches, and the taste was actually quite good. She had just opened it when she saw An Muxue striding toward her aggressively.
Lin Yue even greeted her, “There’s fried chicken cutlet today.”
The next second, An Muxue grabbed her arm and pulled her directly into the dressing room.
Lin Yue: “?”
The door slammed shut, and An Muxue pressed herself into Lin Yue’s embrace.
“What’s wrong?”
Lin Yue looked down, seeing her tear-soaked eyelashes and her slightly reddened, pale nose. She paused for a moment, her tone softening.
“Are you uncomfortable again…?”
An Muxue was playing the role of a beautiful waitress in a diner. At the moment, she was still wearing the American-style waitress uniform—a somewhat cheap lace apron and an orange miniskirt. An Muxue’s face was too beautiful and noble for such an outfit; it should have looked jarring.
But because of the intense crying scene, her hair was slightly disheveled. Her eyes were still red, and her heaving chest spilled out from the low-cut apron, pressing against Lin Yue. This slight messiness gave her a different kind of decadent allure.
Unfortunately, Lin Yue didn’t sense any of that; she simply gave her a comforting kiss.
An Muxue closed her eyes, but she still felt it wasn’t enough. She grabbed Lin Yue’s hand, guiding it from her stomach upward… then her whole body trembled, and she bit her rosy lip with a dazed look in her eyes.
It still wasn’t enough.
Her face was beet-red as she stared at Lin Yue’s clean, scentless neck. The more she looked, the more dissatisfied she became.
“Pheromones…”
Her hot breath brushed against Lin Yue’s ear. Lin Yue paused. “In here?”
An Muxue looked up at her, her breathing rapid. “If I say I want them, you give them to me. You have to listen to me. No being disobedient.”
Huh?
But… Lin Yue looked around. With no other choice, she could only pull An Muxue into the bathroom. She shut the door of the tiny shower stall before finally releasing her pheromones.
The moment the sandalwood scent emerged, the floral fragrance exploded in the small space, falling on Lin Yue like a steady mist. Lin Yue, bewitched by the hormones, felt her ears turn red. The two of them kissed longer and longer. They thought about how they were technically “outside” and should restrain themselves, but in the end, they wrinkled the costume completely, the miniskirt bunching up around the waist.
An Muxue was covered in sweat, and her tied-up hair had mostly fallen loose, sticking to her shoulders. She tilted her head back, biting her lip hard. Finally, she gripped the shower handle with force, even her toes curling and tensing as she rose on her tip-toes, struggling to suppress her voice.
“Mnh…”
An Muxue felt weightless for a moment before her whole body went limp with exhaustion.
“Better…?” Lin Yue asked her.
“Where… where did you learn that…?”
An Muxue caught her breath, but her breathing was still unstable. She felt she really needed to investigate what Lin Yue usually looked at on her phone.
Lin Yue was blank. She hadn’t learned it from anywhere. She just carefully observed An Muxue’s breathing and expressions. Her body always told her in subtle ways… how she preferred to be treated.
The two stared at each other for a moment, then suddenly heard voices outside, and both turned red. They hadn’t expected that in the middle of the day, they would hide away and make such a mess.
An Muxue didn’t even have time for a proper shower; she could only secretly use a spray, tidy her clothes repeatedly, and leave the dressing room.
During the afternoon shoot, she could still feel the sweat on her body, a bit sticky and sore, but her mood had improved. Having a small trace of Lin Yue on her gave her an inexplicable sense of security.
She had consulted Dr. Wu previously, but the doctor couldn’t be certain why this “pseudo-heat” was prolonged. One possibility was that An Muxue’s glands were trying to maintain this high-intensity pheromone intake to recover faster. Of course, it could also simply be that their compatibility was too high… and her body was urging An Muxue to choose the Alpha in front of her as a partner and be marked by her.
This condition was rare, and no one could say for sure. Lin Yue even worried it might be because her pheromone grade wasn’t high enough, making it impossible to effectively end An Muxue’s heat. She had no solution for this other than trying to stay as close to An Muxue as possible.
Over the past few weeks, they had left their footprints in almost every corner of the hotel. Now, they were even sneaking around on set… Lin Yue sighed; she was too embarrassed to leave the dressing room for a long time.
Perhaps the “God of Plot” couldn’t stand it anymore and introduced a corrective mechanism.
The next day, the Protagonist Alpha, Shu Yan, suddenly appeared on An Muxue’s set. They had actually agreed to go on a fake date, but An Muxue didn’t expect Shu Yan to actually come to the set to pick her up.
Watching Shu Yan greet everyone with a beaming smile, An Muxue felt it was entirely unnecessary. She instinctively wanted to look back and check Lin Yue’s expression, only to find Lin Yue had vanished again.
An Muxue: “?”
Why is Shu Yan still coming here!
Lin Yue had been hiding in the bathroom washing her hands for nearly ten minutes, praying that Shu Yan would leave quickly. She never expected that Shu Yan would happen to walk into the bathroom the next second and say, “Eh? What a coincidence.”
“…” Lin Yue looked up at her with a stunned face.
Shu Yan smiled and looked at the stalls. “They’re all full.”
Lin Yue felt a silent breakdown. That was the exact reason she hadn’t hidden in a stall!
A silent, awkward tension spread. Lin Yue accepted her fate.
“You should do this pose.” She raised her arm and bent it behind her back. “Then relax your shoulders.”
“Mhm?” Shu Yan didn’t understand for a moment.
“You asked me last time what to do about soreness in your shoulder blades.”
Shu Yan’s eyes widened slightly. Her somewhat aggressive, beautiful features showed a hint of daze. She looked closely at Lin Yue’s face; Lin Yue looked dead serious.
“What pose?” Shu Yan repeated. “Like this?”
“No…”
Lin Yue’s mind was entirely focused on proving she was indeed a physical therapist. She moved closer, guiding her posture and pressing her hand against the side of Shu Yan’s neck. “Here, relax.”
Shu Yan was pinned by her hand. She didn’t try to relax her muscles; instead, her gaze shifted, looking at Lin Yue’s face from behind the barrier of her own arm.
“When does your thing with An Muxue end?”
Lin Yue’s heart skipped a beat, almost thinking she’d been found out.
But Shu Yan continued: “Are you interested in being my physical therapist after a while?”
Lin Yue froze for a moment and immediately let go of her. Her mouth was faster than her brain. “No.”
Shu Yan: “?”
“I… pay a very high salary.” Shu Yan’s cool face carried a slight smile, feigning a bit of an aggrieved expression.
Don’t you need a new job? As expected of an actress, Lin Yue could read that question in her expression. It was a perfectly reasonable inquiry.
“…”
Lin Yue’s ears slowly turned red. She hadn’t expected that after all her preparation, she would get stuck again. “Because… I don’t plan on being a physical therapist anymore.”
Her ears grew redder as she spoke. Even if the answer was poor, she couldn’t leave a “blank sheet” like last time.
Shu Yan laughed. This was the first time she had seen someone whose face turned red before a lie even came out of their mouth. It was like a preview. It seemed that talking to her earlier was an accident; this dazed girl really did dislike her.
She lowered her gaze, thinking to let it go. She didn’t ask further. But after standing for a bit, she realized Lin Yue was still standing there, not moving.
Mhm? What does not leaving mean? Does she want to keep talking? She had heard some fans get so nervous around stars that they can’t speak. Shu Yan could never have imagined that Lin Yue was simply too cowardly to walk past her because she was standing right by the exit.
Shu Yan shifted through a few poses, touching her nose and brushing her hair—her damnable curiosity. She spoke again.
“Since you aren’t going to be a physical therapist, have you considered entering the entertainment industry?”
Granted, it was a sudden question. But usually, when “muggles” (non-celebrities) got close to her and heard of a chance to be on screen, most were very interested, their eyes lighting up.
Shu Yan looked over. Lin Yue only gave her a look of complete bewilderment and confusion.
Now it was Shu Yan’s turn to feel a bit flushed. Misjudged? But the fact that Lin Yue was still standing there looking at her gave her a bit of inexplicable encouragement. She leaned in a bit closer, the beauty mark at the corner of her eye and her earring swaying slightly.
“If you’re interested, I can help—” She looked at Lin Yue’s face and changed her tune. “No, actually, I think you’re quite suited for it. Have you ever tried acting?”
Lin Yue swallowed. “You…”
“Mhm?” Shu Yan looked at her encouragingly.
Lin Yue’s expression was complex. “…Aren’t you going to use the bathroom?”
“Go where?”
“…”
Shu Yan looked back and saw that a stall had opened up at some point. “Oh…” After laughing again, she finally left, ending this strange conversation in a strange place.
Lin Yue let out a massive sigh and hurried out.
Later, Shu Yan stood in a random spot waiting for An Muxue. Her presence alone made that corner of the set feel radiant. Many staff members came over for autographs, and her attitude was very kind, leaving several girls blushing as they talked to her.
Shu Yan was used to enjoying this kind of attention. She just instinctively looked around between conversations, but she couldn’t find Lin Yue again.
A while later, An Muxue finished her scene and also searched with her eyes, finding no one. She was unhappy, but she had to go out on a “date” with Shu Yan first. The two of them standing together was like a double-dose of beauty; everyone on the set was instinctively watching as they left together. In a way, they had achieved their goal.
The two drove to the seaside. Although they wore sunglasses, they didn’t work particularly hard to hide their identities. They walked side by side, occasionally stopping to look at the view, skillfully striking poses that could be interpreted as slightly ambiguous. In reality, both were distracted.
An Muxue was thinking that the seaside scenery was actually quite nice; she should have brought Lin Yue. This is so boring.
The two hadn’t spoken for a while. When An Muxue looked up, she saw Shu Yan also seemed to be deep in thought. Noticing her gaze, Shu Yan finally spoke.
“Tell me, if someone seems to dislike me, what could be the reason?”
An Muxue: “?” It was surprising to hear Shu Yan agonizing over such a question. “It’s impossible for everyone in the world to like you.”
That was logically sound. Shu Yan sighed deeply. “But I’m clearly full of nothing but good points!”
An Muxue: “…”
No one bothered with her anymore. Shu Yan thought for a long time and still couldn’t figure it out. She didn’t know why she couldn’t let it go, finally chalking it up to—that damnable curiosity.
On the other side, because Shu Yan and An Muxue were eating together, Lin Yue and Assistant Lu went to a pizza parlor for dinner.
Lu Qian scrolled through her phone while eating and suddenly let out an “Aiyo!” “The scoop came out so fast.”
She saw Lin Yue look up curiously and felt a bit of regret. Should I have mentioned this in front of Lin Yue? Anyone with a modicum of emotional intelligence could see that the eye contact and movements between her and An Muxue lately weren’t exactly a cold, professional relationship.
However, Lin Yue should have known long ago that she and An Muxue were impossible. The class divide was a chasm ordinary people could rarely cross. It was better not to have illusions.
She sighed in her heart, tilted her phone, and showed it to Lin Yue. It was a photo of An Muxue and Shu Yan. Although it was a bit blurry from the paparazzi’s perspective, you could still recognize them. Clinging together, they clearly looked like a very well-matched AO couple.
After looking at it, Lin Yue went back to eating her pizza.
“?”
So calm? Lu Qian felt a bit ashamed. If a rich, handsome guy appeared in front of her and kissed and hugged her every day, she might not have this much mental stability!
Lu Qian couldn’t help but keep scrolling. The likes, comments, and shares on the photo were growing at a rapid pace; their popularity was undeniable. Some comments expressed disbelief or refusal to accept it, but most passersby thought they were a great match—after all, they were matched in looks, talent, and family background. Human nature is to “ship” couples.
It seemed this move was a good one. Lu Qian nodded to herself. Looking again after dinner, she suddenly realized something was wrong. After the story broke, there were clearly some photos that they hadn’t arranged. Fortunately, the public sentiment hadn’t changed.
But it seemed there were quite a few real paparazzi here after all. Lu Qian frowned, feeling a bit worried. She cautioned Lin Yue:
“Be careful when you go out with President An. Don’t get caught in a photo.”
Lin Yue nodded seriously.
