After Becoming a Scumbag Alpha, the Green Tea Omega is Reborn - Chapter 22
“Don’t be impulsive…”
“I’m not being impulsive, I just want to have a proper talk…”
Yu Li brushed off Lin Shen’s attempts to pull her back and pulled open the door to step inside.
“Ranran, I have something to tell you.”
Yu Li was usually very serious, but right now her willow-leaf brows were slightly knit, and her gaze was deep and solemn.
Lin Shen helplessly covered her face with her hand. Before Yu Li could speak again, Tao Ran smiled and said, “A friend of yours came to see me just now.”
Yu Li’s heart skipped a beat. Tao Ran continued: “She said she was an old drinking buddy of yours. She came today to work as an extra and was very happy to hear that we’re getting along so well now.”
“Oh? Is that so?”
Is that what happened?
Yu Li froze for a moment and stole a glance at Lin Shen. Lin Shen immediately turned her head away, whistling and pretending to look at the scenery outside.
“She even wished us a long and happy marriage, though I forgot to ask her name. Why didn’t you introduce me to such a good friend earlier?”
Yu Li gave a dry laugh. “I… I’m afraid I don’t remember which friend it was either.”
Liu Xia took Tao Ran’s arm and said, “It’s too stuffy in the car. let’s go out for some fresh air.”
“Okay.”
After the two left, Lin Shen said awkwardly, “Um… looks like I misunderstood.”
“That’s not right…” Yu Li pouted, her face full of conflict.
Tao Ran’s smile was all wrong; that kind of sycophantic grin hadn’t appeared on her face in a long time. But Yu Li couldn’t put her finger on exactly what was amiss.
Lin Shen stepped into the van, stretched, and plopped down where Tao Ran had been sitting. Patting the soft leather, she said, “Liu Xia’s car is nice. I’ll have to hitch a ride some other time.”
As she patted the seat, Lin Shen felt a card. She picked it up and her eyes widened instantly.
“Sister, your wife… really knows how to play!” Lin Shen flicked the card toward Yu Li using two fingers. “‘The Night’—isn’t that your old favorite haunt?”
Yu Li stared at the card and let out a soft breath.
The person who came to find Tao Ran must have been Aubrey, but what was she trying to do? And why didn’t Tao Ran tell her directly?
“Lin Shen, can you do me a favor?” Yu Li asked.
That evening around 8:00 PM, Tao Ran used the excuse of getting coffee with Liu Xia to put on her sunglasses and mask and head out. She took a taxi to the opposite side of “The Night.” Just as she was about to open the car door, she saw a familiar black sedan parked not far away in the rearview mirror.
It seemed Yu Li had found the card she left in the van and had followed her secretly. Tao Ran pulled the brim of her hat lower and instinctively reached into her pocket to touch her anti-Alpha spray.
The female Alpha told her not to tell Yu Li, but she hadn’t said she couldn’t lead Yu Li here.
Before entering the bar, Tao Ran received a message from Liu Xia.
“I just had a friend who frequents bars do a sweep. They said there aren’t many customers today and not many private rooms are booked, but one room has only two people in it.”
“Okay, let’s stay in touch.”
Tao Ran put down her phone. She felt a warm flush surging in her chest, but she shook her head, ignored it, and walked straight into the bar.
Inside a black sedan across from the bar, Yu Li took a deep breath, put on a mask, sunglasses, and a baseball cap, and prepared to get out of the car.
Inside the bar, a soft, slow piano piece was playing, but the air was thick with the smell of alcohol, making Tao Ran feel nauseous. She looked around and saw Aubrey sitting at the bar. Aubrey turned, saw her, and gave a cold smile.
Tao Ran crossed her arms and walked forward. “I’m here for our appointment.”
“Sorry, the deal’s off.”
“What?”
“I said not to let Yu Li know about this, yet you brought her here to mess with me?” Aubrey slammed her glass onto the counter and pointed toward the entrance.
A person had just walked in, wrapped up tightly just like Tao Ran. From the build and aura, who could it be but Yu Li?
The person wore a mask, glanced at Aubrey, and walked toward the bar with their head down.
“Dammit, still trying to play it cool with me.” Aubrey set down her glass and walked over, slapping the person on the shoulder.
The person didn’t move. Aubrey, losing her temper, reached out to forcibly turn the person’s shoulder. The person dodged, and Aubrey managed to snatch the hat off.
Blonde hair cascaded down like a waterfall under the colorful lights.
Tao Ran was relieved her mask hid her shocked expression.
The person was actually… Lin Shen?
“You… who are you?” Aubrey stammered in shock.
“I was about to ask you the same thing,” Lin Shen raised an eyebrow, picked up the hat from the floor, and jammed it onto Aubrey’s head. “An Alpha being so forward with me… I’m quite flattered.”
Aubrey awkwardly rubbed her nose and looked around. Aside from this blonde woman, there was no one else who looked like Yu Li.
“Sorry, sister. I got the wrong person.”
As Aubrey turned to leave, Lin Shen gripped her shoulder with significant force. “Don’t be in such a hurry. You offended me just now; shouldn’t you buy me a drink?”
Aubrey’s expression cooled. “Another day. I’m busy today.”
Lin Shen pulled off her mask and turned toward Tao Ran with a teasing smile. “Hey beautiful over there, joining us?”
“I’m so sorry, she doesn’t like crowds, so…”
As Aubrey was about to decline for Tao Ran, Tao Ran blinked and said, “It’s fine. One more person won’t hurt.”
Aubrey reluctantly led Tao Ran and Lin Shen into the private room. When Shi Yi saw Lin Shen, she froze. Aubrey shot her a look, signaling that the plan hadn’t changed.
“Hello, little beauty,” Lin Shen smiled at Shi Yi. “What’s your name?”
Shi Yi pouted and remained silent. Lin Shen continued, “Why is everyone so quiet? Didn’t you come to a bar to have fun?”
“We’re here to talk about something today,” Tao Ran said.
“What is it? Maybe I can help you analyze it.” Lin Shen sat at the far end. With one hand she played with a deck of cards, while with the other she secretly opened a WeChat chat with Yu Li and typed:
Second room on the right, second floor.
“We’re here to talk about…” Tao Ran glanced at Shi Yi and Aubrey. “…my Alpha’s past.”
Aubrey was about to think of an excuse to get Lin Shen out, but Lin Shen nodded seriously. “You want to ask about Yu Li? I know her very well. Why didn’t you ask me?”
Aubrey and Shi Yi’s eyes widened in unison.
“You…” Shi Yi was stunned.
“That girl, she really wasn’t anything good in the past. She used to come to this bar often; every Alpha here knows her. She’d flirt with Omegas but never marry them. Does that mean she was ‘clean’? Not really. She just wanted to mark Omegas with high compatibility and good-smelling pheromones. If she wasn’t interested, she’d just grope them, take some nudes, and post them in a group chat to gossip about.”
“Oh, and she paid people to dig up your family info. She found out your dad was tricked into perjury and was in debt, and that’s how she managed to marry you.”
Lin Shen poured herself a drink, downed it, leaned her hands on her knees, and looked at Tao Ran sitting opposite her. “She’s a real scumbag, isn’t she?”
Tao Ran’s eyelashes trembled.
“But after she got married, she actually told me she wanted to be with you properly.” Lin Shen grinned. “Isn’t it unbelievable? When I heard that, I thought she’d either had a personality transplant or she’d become ‘inadequate’ in that department.”
“I can’t guarantee if she’s telling the truth. Turning over a new leaf is easier said than done. Since no one knows the outcome, why don’t we…” Lin Shen shot a provocative smile at Aubrey and Shi Yi.
“Wait and see.”
“Instead of trusting outsiders, you should trust the person you share a bed with, don’t you think?”
Aubrey stood up. “Tao Ran, don’t listen to her. I don’t know where this woman came from; she doesn’t know Yu Li at all.”
Lin Shen frowned, spreading her arms and leaning back against the sofa. “I, Lin Shen, am Yu Li’s chief stylist.”
Then, under the stunned gazes of Shi Yi and Aubrey, she said to Tao Ran: “Alright, as a friend, my relaying of the message is over. If you have questions, why don’t you ask Yu Li herself?”
Aubrey roared, grabbed a bottle, and smashed it on the floor. “Dammit, you’re here to wreck the place, aren’t you?”
The strength difference between Alphas and Omegas is huge. Shi Yi and Tao Ran turned pale seeing that they were about to fight.
“What if I am?” Lin Shen stood up fearlessly, stepping back into a defensive stance.
Aubrey lunged with the jagged bottle neck. Lin Shen twisted her arms and shouted to Tao Ran, “Run! Yu Li is downstairs!”
Tao Ran turned to run. Shi Yi tried to stop her but stepped on a glass shard Lin Shen had kicked, slipping and falling.
In a fight between Alphas, an Omega would only get in the way. Lin Shen was also here; using anti-Alpha spray would hurt her too.
Tao Ran hesitated for a second before bursting out the door. She was about to message Liu Xia when someone suddenly grabbed her from behind, a hand covering her mouth.
It was the scent of a strange Alpha. Tao Ran was terrified.
A cold voice whispered in her ear, “Baby, don’t scream. Come with me, I’ll make sure you have a good time.”
Just as Tao Ran was about to pull out her spray, the Alpha behind her took a blow to the head. With a muffled groan, the person let go and stumbled back, clutching their head.
Yu Li was dressed in all black, the brim of her hat pulled low, a black earpiece in her right ear.
She sprinted forward on her long legs, pulling Tao Ran behind her. Her gaze was murderous. While the attacker was still in pain from the sneak attack, Yu Li landed several punches on her face.
Yu Li recognized this person. The first time she came to the bar, this Alpha in the blue hoodie wanted to “swap wives” with her. If she had known, she would have beaten her then.
Seeing Yu Li now, Tao Ran felt completely safe.
“Yu Li, Lin Shen is still inside.”
As soon as Tao Ran spoke, a cry of pain from Aubrey came from the private room.
Lin Shen was a top-tier Alpha. With her pressure and the fact that she had studied Sanda (Chinese kickboxing), she was more than capable of pinning Aubrey to the ground and beating her.
Yu Li pulled Tao Ran. “It’s not safe for you to stay here. I’ll get you back to the car first.”
Just as they were about to leave, Lin Lin’s frantic voice came through the earpiece.
“Sister Yu Li! I think I see inspectors entering the bar!”
“What?” Yu Li froze, pressing her earpiece. A commotion had already started on the first floor. Several people in uniforms with ID badges were walking toward the bar.
“We received a tip about a brawl. We’re conducting a search immediately.”
Yu Li took a sharp breath. This was terrible luck. If they were ordinary people, a bar raid wouldn’t be scary—at most, they’d pay a fine for a fight. But they were both stars; if today’s event was exposed, it would be a disaster.
Tao Ran frowned. The stuffy, hot feeling in her chest was getting stronger, and her breathing was becoming rapid. Yu Li was frantic, leading Tao Ran around the second floor looking for a place to hide.
“Sister Yu Li, they’ll probably just do a quick walkthrough. Find a place to hide; they won’t make things difficult for you.”
“I know.”
The bar’s restrooms smelled too much like smoke for either of them to stand. They had no choice but to duck into a narrow, cramped utility closet.
They had just hidden inside when the inspectors reached the second floor. As Yu Li and Lin Lin expected, they were just going through the motions, opening each door to check.
The utility closet was full of brooms and mops. The space was tiny, and the two were pressed tightly together. Yu Li was worried that Lin Shen’s temper would lead her to kill Aubrey, and she was about to message her when the temperature of Tao Ran in her arms began to rise.
“Yu Li… I feel sick…” Tao Ran leaned limply against Yu Li’s chest.
“Ranran,” Yu Li hugged her urgently. “What’s wrong?”
Yu Li reached out to feel her forehead. She didn’t have a fever, but her whole body was burning up.
Immediately, the entire closet was filled with a thick scent of white musk. Tao Ran’s face was flushed, her breathing rapid and shallow, and her eyes were full of desire.
“Yu Li, I feel sick…”
“You aren’t…”
Her pheromone disorder had flared up.
Her heat had arrived early.
