After Losing My Memory, I Was Targeted by the Obsessive Movie Queen [gl] - Chapter 33
Autumn in Wucheng is always biting; once it begins, it’s indistinguishable from early winter. Lu Youqing gazed out the hospital window. Down below, the leaves were being swept up by a residual wind, swirling in the sky—a picture of utter desolation.
It had been a long time since she had been back in Wucheng. Lu Youqing had thought she would never return to this city in her lifetime, but unexpectedly, she was back here again for a film shoot. This city held too many memories—sorrowful, desperate, and happy. Just stepping onto this land made her feel deep emotions surging in like a tide.
She thought, It’s a good thing A-He didn’t come. If A-He saw all this, the instinctive physical reactions might not only arouse her suspicion but also accelerate the recovery of her memory. Thinking this, Lu Youqing couldn’t help but offer a bitter smile. To think this way… she was truly wretched.
By the time she finished treating her wound and stepped out of the hospital, it was already morning. The horizon was a pale fish-belly white. A cool early-morning breeze brushed against her clothes, and she couldn’t stop herself from shivering.
Lu Youqing was still wearing the casual clothes she had thrown on before rushing to the hospital. A thin short-sleeved shirt was clearly no match for the frigid wind. While Lin Le went to fetch the car, she stood alone at the hospital entrance, waiting.
The cold wind blew relentlessly against her. She rubbed her hands together to ward off the chill, and her mind involuntarily drifted back to her past with Yan He.
She remembered that the first time Yan He left her, the weather had been just as cold—an autumn day just like today. Back then, she had been so cold, her body nearly frozen in the wind, but her heart felt as if it had been thrown into an ice cellar, colder than her body. She almost thought she wouldn’t survive, but fortunately, she found her A-He, and her A-He returned to her side.
Lu Youqing couldn’t help but let a smile bloom. It was the same now; no matter how many times Yan He left her side, she would always find her and live a happy life with her.
That is the best outcome, isn’t it?
Lu Youqing pulled out her phone to see if Yan He had replied to her message. No new messages. She knit her brows slightly, figuring A-He was still asleep, so she sent another message filled with affection:
【I’m awake, heading to work.】 This effectively rounded out yesterday’s lie.
Unexpectedly, the moment the message was sent, Lu Youqing heard the faint sound of a notification. It was carried to her ears by the cold wind blowing behind her. Before she could react, she heard a familiar, crisp voice from behind.
“Lu Youqing.” The woman’s voice, breathless yet sincere, drifted into her ears like a brilliant rose blooming in her heart.
Lu Youqing froze, listening blankly to the approaching footsteps until they stopped beside her. A faint, clean fragrance enveloped her nose, and she finally snapped back to her senses. She turned her head slowly and met Yan He’s deep gaze, which was filled with intense heartache.
Seeing that Lu Youqing didn’t answer, Yan He called her name again, only to see the woman’s ink-dark eyes suddenly fill with mist, looking exhausted and piteous.
Now that she was close, Yan He could see her shivering and shrinking in the cold wind. It felt as if a cold draft had been poured into her own chest. Frowning, she decisively took off her outer coat and draped it over Lu Youqing’s shoulders.
The coat, still carrying Yan He’s warmth, enveloped Lu Youqing’s body. Every breath was filled with Yan He’s scent. Lu Youqing felt as though she were being embraced by Yan He; the crisp fragrance surrounded her. She slowly lowered her head, immersing herself deeply in Yan He’s essence.
“Why are you here?” Lu Youqing buried her cheek in Yan He’s coat. Her voice, muffled through the heavy fabric, sounded a bit listless.
Yan He didn’t answer. Her own clothes—a thin long-sleeved shirt—were snapping in the wind. She stared intently at Lu Youqing, her eyes thick with emotions she couldn’t disperse. Her gaze traveled downward, landing on Lu Youqing’s bandaged hand, and the gloom in her eyes finally shattered into raw pain.
“Does it hurt?” she asked, her voice softening into a tone of pure tenderness.
Hearing this, Lu Youqing looked at her fixedly, her beautiful eyes deep and shimmering. The shock and joy of seeing Yan He by her side had long since drowned out the pain in her palm. She shook her head, the corners of her mouth hidden beneath the coat curving upward. She looked at Yan He and spoke slowly.
“How did A-He know I was hurt?”
Yan He’s brows knit slightly. “Were you going to keep it from me even though you were injured?” She had taken the earliest flight to see Lu Youqing, her mind entirely occupied by her injury, only to find that Lu Youqing had intended to keep hiding it. She hadn’t wanted her to know.
Yan He didn’t want to think about it—if she hadn’t learned of the injury from Lin Le, if she hadn’t noticed those anomalies last night, would Lu Youqing have kept her in the dark forever? The more she thought, the angrier she got. A nameless fire burned in her chest, but she was also deeply hurt that, as Lu Youqing’s fiancée, she was being excluded. Even though she knew Lu Youqing did it to spare her worry, it still hurt. She simply turned her head away, ignoring her.
For the first time, Lu Youqing heard Yan He’s voice so suppressed with anger, yet her heart felt as happy as a firework exploding. She took a step forward, reaching out to take Yan He’s hand, but Yan He dodged. Yan He turned her body away—out of sight, out of mind—her brows still furrowed, looking like she wouldn’t talk to anyone.
It seems she’s truly angry; she won’t even look at me.
Lu Youqing thought this, yet her heart couldn’t help but melt into a puddle. Such a wonderful A-He… because she didn’t reply to a message, she took the earliest flight to Wucheng to find her. It was truly obsessive.
But she really, truly loved it. Lu Youqing walked over and forcefully embraced Yan He’s arm, leaving no space between them.
Yan He tried to pull away twice but found she couldn’t, so she gave up. She let Lu Youqing half-pull, half-lead her as they dragged the suitcase to the roadside to wait for Lin Le to drive over.
“Did A-He come to find me just because I was hurt?”
“It’s a long flight from Qingcheng to Wucheng. When did A-He arrive? Were you already planning to come when you messaged me? A-He worries about me so much, I’m so happy.” She couldn’t help but pour out her love, the sweetness in her heart overflowing. Although Yan He still had her brows knit and refused to look at her, it didn’t block her surging affection at all.
However, as she spoke to Yan He, she didn’t notice a car approaching from a distance. It had rained last night, and the asphalt road was dotted with puddles. As the car sped past, a splash of water flew directly toward Lu Youqing.
Lu Youqing was startled and could only close her eyes in the face of the flying water. But suddenly, she felt herself enveloped in a warm embrace. She was held tightly, the crisp scent filling her nose, and only the sound of Yan He’s warm breath against her skin remained in her ears.
The expected sensation of being splashed by cold water never came. Lu Youqing slowly opened her eyes. She was looking at the collar of Yan He’s white silk shirt. Looking up, she saw the smooth line of Yan He’s jaw and face. Yan He was frowning slightly, still holding her, and her voice carried that familiar tone of concern.
“Are you okay? Did any water get on you?”
Yan He’s voice was urgent. As she spoke, her breath fanned across Lu Youqing’s fair, delicate skin. Behind her was Yan He’s coat, and in front was Yan He’s body; she was completely surrounded by her. She felt a profound sense of satisfaction; her heart was thumping vigorously.
Even while angry, Yan He had instinctively protected her, holding her tight. Lu Youqing almost cried out of sheer emotion. All her previous efforts had paid off; her A-He was no longer the one who would instinctively reject her.
“I’m fine.” she shook her head, while unobtrusively returning the hug, suppressing her excitement. She spoke with concern: “What about you, A-He? Did you get splashed?”
Yan He froze, finally noticing the cold, wet sensation on her back. The icy touch combined with the cold wind made her shiver.
“I… I’m fine.” she said. “You’re hurt, you can’t touch water.”
At that moment, the sound of another car came from behind. Yan He thought it was another vehicle and was about to pull Lu Youqing to safety when she heard the car stop and heard Lin Le’s voice.
“CEO Lu, Miss Yan.”
She turned around. Lin Le had stopped the car just behind them and was waving. She looked down at the person clinging to her like she had no bones; she wanted to let go, but was held tight. Helpless, she half-carried Lu Youqing to the car.
When the door opened, the warm air from the car’s heater blew out, successfully stopping their chills. Only then did Lu Youqing reluctantly release her hold on Yan He, and they boarded the car one after the other.
The heater was on full blast. Once inside, Yan He wasn’t so cold anymore, and the discomfort of the splash eased slightly. However, her lower back and thighs were soaked through. With the wet fabric clinging to her, she felt miserable. Moreover, thinking the water was dirty and would ruin the seats of Lu Youqing’s expensive-looking car made her even more uneasy.
Consequently, she kept checking the wet spots, not even noticing when Lu Youqing took the opportunity to interlace their fingers. Her mind was entirely on the puddle.
“Does A-He want to change her clothes?” Lu Youqing asked suddenly. Her quiet voice in the silent car immediately drew Yan He’s attention.
“Change clothes?” she repeated incredulously. She instinctively looked at Lin Le, who was focused on driving in the front, and asked in disbelief, “In here?”
Lu Youqing nodded, then turned to pull a set of clothes from a bag behind her. “I kept a few changes of clothes prepared from a previous banquet. Luckily, I hadn’t put them back yet.”
She handed the clothes to Yan He.
Yan He stared at the plain white short-sleeved shirt in her hands, then looked back at Lin Le. In her peripheral vision, she saw Lu Youqing frown with displeasure. Lu Youqing reached out and pressed a button on the side of the seat. A mechanical whir followed, and a metal partition descended from the ceiling, blocking Yan He’s view of the front.
Yan He was stunned. Before she could react, Lu Youqing cupped her chin and forced her to turn back. Lu Youqing leaned in until their noses almost touched. The mere inches between them allowed them to feel each other’s hot breath.
“Don’t look at other people,” Lu Youqing said in mock anger. She planted a sharp kiss on Yan He’s lips, staring at her reddened mouth for a long time before deciding not to bite her, letting her off for now.
“There, there’s no one else now. Hurry and change, A-He. Wet clothes are uncomfortable and will give you a cold.” She let go and sat back.
Yan He sat there dazed, the soft sensation on her lips etched into her mind. Her previous anger had long since vanished; her mind was a total blank.
Following Lu Youqing’s words, she looked at the woman, then down at the clothes in her hands. She pursed her lips. Lu Youqing’s scent still seemed to linger on her mouth, and the tips of her ears turned pink.
Ultimately, the discomfort of the wet clothes won over her shame. Adopting the mindset that they had surely been “intimate” before the amnesia anyway, she reached out and began slowly undoing the buttons of her shirt.
By the time she had slowly unbuttoned the whole thing, revealing a large expanse of her fair skin, her face was completely crimson. She kept her head down, able to feel Lu Youqing’s gaze on her. It felt like ants crawling over her skin. She didn’t dare look up; she just reached out to grab the clean clothes beside her, but her hand met empty space.
Yan He: “?” She looked to the side and saw that her clothes had been taken by Lu Youqing at some point. Lu Youqing was smiling, the white shirt in her hand, looking seductive.
“Give it to me,” Yan He said, her voice a bit raspy.
Lu Youqing just smiled and leaned in to look at her closely. Her gaze traveled over her brows and nose, finally landing on her reddened lips. She swallowed.
I should have bitten her just now to leave my mark, she thought with a sigh of regret. She reached out to cup Yan He’s chin, forcing her to look only at her, and spoke.
“I made A-He angry earlier. Have you calmed down now?”
Yan He: “…” She was currently half-undressed, yet Lu Youqing chose this exact moment to ask her this. She had already calmed down, but now she was getting annoyed again.
“I’m not angry,” she said, looking at the clothes Lu Youqing was holding. “Can I have my clothes now?”
Lu Youqing ignored her gaze and continued to watch her tenderly. Hearing Yan He’s answer, she sighed, her brows drooping.
“It seems A-He hasn’t forgiven me yet. I’m so sad. To earn your forgiveness, let me help you change.”
