After Rebirth, I Became the Richest Woman - Chapter 12
“Nothing to do with me. Nothing to do with me? If it really had nothing to do with me, how wonderful that would be.” Ye Xinuo tilted her neck slightly back, leaned against the chair, and closed her eyes.
“Nuonuo!”
Ye Xinuo suddenly opened her eyes. Panting heavily, she lightly patted her chest. “Sister Yu Qing, are you trying to scare me to death so you can inherit the company?”
Yu Qing spread her hands. “You’re not my mother. Even if I scared you to death, I wouldn’t get any inheritance. Otherwise, I would’ve done it long ago.”
Ye Xinuo scolded fondly, “Didn’t you go off to work? Why did you suddenly come back to scare people?”
“Second Miss Ni called just now and said there’s been progress on the matter you entrusted to her. She wants to meet you.”
Ye Xinuo casually propped her chin on one hand. “Why didn’t she call me directly?”
Yu Qing said, “She said communicating with an assistant makes it seem more professional.”
The corner of Ye Xinuo’s mouth twitched twice. That was indeed something Ni Anxin would do.
“Then is there an opening in my schedule?”
Yu Qing answered directly without even opening her phone. “Yes, and quite a lot. Anyway, not many client contacts have responded to the invitations we sent out.”
Ye Xinuo waved her hand. “All right, all right. It’s enough that you said there’s time. You can swallow the rest of those words.”
“It is my duty to constantly remind my boss of the difficulties she is currently facing.” Yu Qing straightened her back.
Ye Xinuo used two fingers to lift the corners of her mouth and said, “Your cold joke is so funny.”
Yu Qing frowned in disgust. “Are you childish or not? I don’t have time to talk to you about things unrelated to work. Stay here and slack off. I’m going to contact Miss Ni.”
Ye Xinuo watched Yu Qing’s back and wished that in the next second, three question marks would pop out of her head.
The place where she met Ni Anxin was a club where rich playboys often gathered. At this delicate moment, even if the two of them were photographed together, it would not stand out too much.
Ni Anxin wore a brown plaid cloak and a deerstalker hat like Sherlock Holmes’s, sitting upright on a comfortable lounge sofa.
The moment Ye Xinuo pushed the door open and entered, she felt her brain ache.
She and Yu Qing each found a comfortable place to sit. Ye Xinuo asked casually, “Is today cosplay day?”
Ni Anxin furrowed her brows and said seriously, “Although you are a client, you may not casually tease me. Please take your case seriously.”
Ye Xinuo helplessly straightened up and also said solemnly, “Miss Sherlock, may I ask how the matter I entrusted to you is going?”
Ni Anxin took a stack of papers from a file. Ye Xinuo picked them up and read through a few pages while listening to Ni Anxin say, “These are the complete files on Qin Moyan and Ding Qi, but my sixth sense tells me that much of this information should be fabricated. It definitely isn’t as simple as it looks on the surface. But after asking people to verify it, I still couldn’t find any problems.”
“There’s only Ning Han’s date of birth and place of origin. Everything else is unknown.” Ni Anxin looked a little defeated. “Ding Qi is an orphan and was never adopted, but fortunately, he was ambitious and got into a good university. Qin Moyan was born into a working-class family. When she was in high school, her father had an accident at a construction site and died on the spot. Her mother passed away from illness not long after. She suspended her studies for a year, then passed Harvard University’s entrance exam and studied in its world-ranked number-one finance department. At present, I still haven’t found any connection among the three of them.”
Ye Xinuo continued flipping through the pages in her hands, rapidly sorting through the information she had just received in her mind.
Ning Han was a hacker, so it was understandable that her information could not be found. Ye Xinuo also knew that Ding Qi was an orphan. But Qin Moyan going to Harvard was very strange. Even if she was intelligent, for a child whose parents had both died, studying abroad would have been full of difficulties.
Ni Anxin continued, “After Qin Moyan suspended her studies for a year, someone sponsored her to study abroad. But I haven’t found out who that person was yet. I need a little more time.”
“Thank you.” Ye Xinuo said sincerely.
“You are too polite. This is my duty.” Ni Anxin was still in character.
Ye Xinuo shook Ni Anxin’s hand in a very serious manner. “Then I’ll have to ask you to keep working hard from now on.”
After giving a slight bow, Ni Anxin took off the hat on her head, tossed it aside, and collapsed onto the sofa like she had no bones. “I’m exhausted today. I followed my family’s Snake-Spirit Queen to more than ten express delivery stations.”
“Snake-Spirit Queen?” Ye Xinuo showed a puzzled expression.
Ni Anxin said bitterly, “My older sister, of course. It’s the new nickname I gave her. I don’t know who provoked her, but lately she’s been like a lunatic, completely a workaholic demon queen with no sex life. It’s bad enough that she works herself to death, but she even oppresses me.”
Seeing that the two had basically finished their formal conversation, Yu Qing smiled and said, “Speaking of Eldest Miss Ni, if she also helped with the investigation, then I’ll have to trouble Miss Anxin to thank her for us.”
Ni Anxin shook her head. “There’s no need to alarm her over such a small matter. Without a few tricks up my sleeve, how could I be a famous detective known far and wide?”
Ye Xinuo knew Yu Qing had asked that question for her, and warmth filled her heart.
Fortunately, she still had Sister Yu Qing, this family member, by her side.
Because of what Qin Moyan had said before, Ye Xinuo was particularly sensitive to the Ni family’s express delivery business. “You and your sister personally went to so many express delivery stations. Are you planning some major move?”
Ni Anxin chuckled. “Why have you become so cautious now? In the past, you definitely would have spoken directly.”
Ye Xinuo smiled bitterly. “I don’t want to lose the simple friendship I have with you, but the burden on my shoulders forces me to ask some sensitive questions.”
“Xinuo, when we were in school, I admired your talent and also regarded you as a true friend. Now, even though your role has changed, if you need my help in business, I won’t refuse either.” Ni Anxin’s eyes were clear.
For a moment, Ye Xinuo had the urge to cry. In her previous life, because she had suddenly been forced to bear too much, her relationships with many university friends had gradually faded. It had been the same with Ni Anxin. Thinking about it now, she had truly been foolish.
“Don’t look at me with such a disgusting expression!” Ni Anxin said with disdain.
“All right, all right.” Ye Xinuo felt relieved. “Then Anxin, let me ask you: is Dingfeng Express really going to develop in the direction of intelligence?”
Dingfeng Express was the brand name of the Ni family’s express delivery business. It meant, “With a ding, the package arrives like the wind.” The person who came up with it was Ni Anxin’s grandfather, so it was not hard to understand why Ni Anxin acted in this style. It was their family tradition.
“My sister is probably eating with Qin Moyan and Han Qiuzi, the eldest daughter of the Han family, right now. Qin Moyan proposed a cooperation between Qiran Technology and Dingfeng Express, and she also brought in Han Qiuzi as a connection.” Ni Anxin made a gesture. “A union of the strong. Three corners are enough to weave a net.”
Ye Xinuo did not speak for a long time. It was as if, from these scattered words, she could see a brand-new era.
While she was using Qin Moyan, wasn’t Qin Moyan also using her?
The Ni family and the Han family were the two great giants of the express delivery industry. If the two families joined forces, it meant they had ambitions to monopolize the market. Judging from what Ni Anxin had just said, Qin Moyan and Han Qiuzi might have known each other long ago. In that case, Ye Xinuo really did not know anymore whose influence had caused the Han family to transfer away their shares in Lida Express.
After parting with Ni Anxin, Ye Xinuo also sent Yu Qing home and then called Han Qiuzi.
Some things still had to be confirmed personally.
