Chapter 28
Why hadn’t Qin Moyan left yet!
Ye Xinuo felt her heart ache a little and added, “What I mean is, I’m not interested in women, and I’m even less interested in you.”
Xu Xiao thought inwardly, Boss’s emotional intelligence probably isn’t very high. Looks like I have a long and difficult road ahead of me.
Qin Moyan handed Ye Xinuo an envelope. “These are two concert tickets. The Saint Phi Symphony Orchestra is Lu Mingqi’s favorite orchestra.”
Ye Xinuo asked suspiciously, “You’re this kind-hearted? Giving me tickets so I can invite Lu Mingqi to a concert?”
Ever since she had looked at oil paintings with Lu Mingqi from Tiansheng Investment last time, Ye Xinuo had not found another opportunity to ask him out. Building connections was a long battle. Lu Mingqi was only a stepping stone; the final goal was to catch Old Master Lu’s eye.
“I didn’t expect to be a philanthropist in Miss Ye’s heart.” Qin Moyan said, “Lu Mingqi invited me to the concert. You can go and coincidentally run into him. These two tickets are my thanks for your painting.”
Realizing she had been flattering herself, Ye Xinuo coughed lightly twice and took the envelope from Qin Moyan’s hand. “Then thank you.”
“Mm.” Qin Moyan nodded once to Ye Xinuo as a farewell. Then, accompanied by the fading click-clack of her high heels, she gradually walked away.
Xu Xiao habitually wanted to take the things in Ye Xinuo’s hand, but then he heard his boss say in a mocking tone, “I’m not going to the concert with you. Don’t be nervous. The reason I’m giving you the tickets is for you to help me clear this time slot and coordinate Sister Yu Qing’s schedule while you’re at it.”
“Yes, Boss.” On the surface, Xu Xiao showed no other reaction, but inwardly, alarm bells began ringing. Boss really does treat me differently. She even made a point of explaining.
As soon as Ye Xinuo returned to her office, she received an internal call from Vivian, saying that President Li of Qiyue Game Studio wanted to see her.
“Let him in.” Ye Xinuo put down the phone and straightened her collar and cuffs.
“President Ye.” Li Bin bowed slightly.
“Mm.” Ye Xinuo stood up, sat down on the reception sofa, and gestured. “President Li, have a seat.”
“Thank you.” Li Bin sat upright and said, “My people discovered a spy sent by Yunteng Games. At present, the harm isn’t great, but I still came to ask President Ye for instructions.”
“Since the harm isn’t great, keep the spy around for now. I’m guessing you also sent spies to Yunteng, right?”
Li Bin smiled and held up three fingers. “That’s right. Three of them.”
“Handle it as you see fit.” Ye Xinuo then changed the subject. “Has the launch time for the mobile version of Ancient Tomb been set?”
Li Bin said, “Tentatively, the twenty-fifth of next month.”
Ye Xinuo asked, “Have you coordinated with the public relations department? I heard you and President Han don’t exactly get along.”
“President Ye, please rest assured. Public matters are public, private matters are private. Our personal grudges will not affect work in any way,” Li Bin answered.
Ye Xinuo said, “Mm. Anything else?”
Li Bin said, “I’ll handle the other miscellaneous matters at my discretion.”
“All right.” Ye Xinuo nodded. “Then go get busy.”
“Yes.” Li Bin stood, bowed, and left.
Li Bin was someone with a very good eye for situations. In terms of gaming expertise, he might not be particularly outstanding, but he was a born strategist. He was just right for balancing out the studio’s unequal intelligence and emotional intelligence.
Ye Xinuo rubbed the corner of her brow. Aside from the previous incident of the team leaving, Qiyue truly had not caused any other frustrating problems. It was unlike the other departments, where chaotic incidents came one after another. They were all industry elites, yet they could still quarrel endlessly over who sat in the middle at a dinner table. Five years later, it would be exactly like celebrities fighting for the center position.
However, the controlling group behind Yunteng Games was Qisheng. The group chair, Qi Ming, was even related to the Ni family as a cousin. In just two short years, Yunteng had rapidly risen in the gaming industry, and its strength could not be underestimated. Hopefully, before the mobile version of Ancient Tomb launched, the competitor would not make any moves.
In the familiar billiard room.
With a lollipop in her mouth, Ning Han hopped onto the billiard table. “When Yunteng sends a spy, they don’t even send someone with a sharper brain. My virus stayed in Bao Jian’s computer for so long and still wasn’t discovered. How boring.”
“What moves has Yunteng Games made?” Qin Moyan was not playing billiards today. She sat on the lounge sofa to the side, holding a tablet.
Ning Han pulled the lollipop from her mouth. “They’re going to release a competitive online game very similar to Ancient Tomb ahead of us. Only a few core managers know the launch time.”
“They deliberately let Qiyue catch their spy to lower the other side’s guard, then strike unexpectedly. Yunteng’s methods have indeed become much more sophisticated than before.”
“I keep feeling like Yunteng has gained a computer expert. Recently, cracking their firewall has been especially difficult. I’m starting to doubt my life.” Ning Han complained.
Qin Moyan said, “There’s no need to force yourself. Li Bin isn’t useless either.”
But Ning Han’s fighting spirit had been stirred up. “That won’t do. I’m someone with faith!”
Qin Moyan said, “Suit yourself.”
Ning Han said, “Why aren’t you asking what my faith is?”
“No interest.”
“My faith is getting first-hand information so you can promote me and give me a raise—”
“Has that cyber policewoman let you go?” Qin Moyan interrupted Ning Han’s chattering.
“Who knows?” Ning Han shrugged. “Anyway, she hasn’t appeared recently.”
“Wait, what was I just saying to you? I want—”
“I have something to do, so I’ll go first.” When Qin Moyan reached the door, she looked back and reminded her, “If you see Ding Qi, tell him to contact me as soon as possible. Otherwise…”
Although she did not finish the sentence, Ning Han knew Ding Qi was testing the edge of Qin Moyan’s temper. Gloating, she sent Ding Qi a message.
On the green mountain in the distant outskirts, wildflowers covered the slope. Bright sunlight fell on the grass, lush and full of life. If not for the rows of tombstones standing there, this would have been a good place for a spring outing.
A straight, upright figure stood before a joint tombstone, her ink-black long hair swaying casually in the breeze.
“Dad, today is your birthday. When you were alive, you never celebrated your birthday. You said you were old and didn’t need to. But there are 365 days in a year and so many holidays. Only one’s birthday belongs to oneself. If possible, I’d also like to celebrate a birthday.” A bitter smile appeared on Qin Moyan’s face.
Only in front of her parents’ grave could she truly remove her armor.
The middle-aged couple on the tombstone did not have especially outstanding appearances, but their smiles were very infectious, as if just looking at them could make one forget the troubles before one’s eyes.
Qin Moyan lightly touched the tombstone with her fingertips and murmured to herself, “If our family had had money back then, Dad wouldn’t have worked day and night, and Mom’s illness wouldn’t have been delayed until it could no longer be treated. Now I have money, but you’re no longer here.”
After speaking to the tombstone for a while longer, Qin Moyan lowered her eyes. When she raised her head again, she had already returned to her usual calm and rippleless appearance.
At that moment, her phone vibrated. Qin Moyan answered the call, her brows tightly furrowed. “Which hospital?”
“All right. I’ll come right away.”
