- After Transmigrating into a Scum Alpha, I Was Targeted by the Flirty Boss Omega
- Chapter 13 - Surprise
“Mhm, I’m back.” Wen Min nodded, giving An Lu a small smile.
In truth, she had already picked up the medicine long ago, but the thought of returning here made her feel suppressed, so she stepped outside the building to get some fresh air before coming back. Interacting with them felt like acting in a play with zero margin for error; even a minor mistake could lead to unimaginable consequences.
An Lu naturally linked arms with Wen Min, leaning close to her in a display of intimacy, and said, “Shall we go shopping?”
Just then, Chao Man Yun stepped out of the examination room. She caught sight of their affectionate posture and her gaze instantly turned cold, though Wen Min didn’t notice.
This physical contact immediately tightened Wen Min’s nerves. She gently but firmly pulled her arm free, shook the medicine bottle in her hand, and smiled. “I’ll go give her the medicine first.”
“Sister Wen Min…” An Lu’s voice trailed off, deliberately leaving her hanging. I don’t want to hear about Shen Fu anymore. Can we please stop talking about her!
Wen Min held her breath, looking at her, and softly asked, “What is it?”
“Look…” An Lu held up the pregnancy test report. Her eyes, fixed on Wen Min, were soft and luminous, containing a hint of excitement and anticipation for the future. Two rosy spots bloomed on her cheeks, her pitiful appearance starkly contrasting with her demeanor in the examination room earlier.
Wen Min took the report from her hand. The two large characters Early Pregnancy instantly jumped out, painfully striking her eye.
No matter how much mental preparation she had done, seeing the results with her own eyes felt incredibly complex.
She is seriously going to be the mother of two children?!
She forced a composed look, took a deep breath, and offered her blessings. “Congratulations. You should sit down and rest. I’ll be right back.”
“Sister Wen Min…” An Lu pouted, her seductive eyes like silk, and her voice softened several degrees. Any Alpha would soften at her coquettish display, but Wen Min did not.
Wen Min merely patted her shoulder gently—a gesture that showed concern without being overly intimate—then handed the report back to her, clumsily saying, “Be good…”
The moment she turned away, An Lu’s face instantly darkened. The paper report was mercilessly crumpled into a ball, serving as her punching bag.
By the time Wen Min reached the examination room, Chao Man Yun had quickly walked back inside. She stood just inside the doorway, waiting to block Wen Min, acting as if Wen Min taking a step inside would pollute the air.
Wen Min saw Chao Man Yun leaning against the wall, arms crossed, staring intently at her, like a trapped prey. She nervously swallowed, but due to her superb acting skills, she showed no panic on the surface. She held the medicine out to Chao Man Yun. “Dr. Chao, this is for Miss Shen…”
“Enough,” Chao Man Yun interrupted before she could finish, snatching the medicine from her hand. Not swearing was the last remnant of her professional etiquette as a doctor. She rolled her eyes at Wen Min and said harshly, “Go, you piece of trash.”
Chao Man Yun expected someone like Wen Min, who looked decent on the outside, to be enraged when exposed, but the person just stood still, showing no reaction.
Chao Man Yun turned around, looking at Wen Min like she was a hypocritical beast. She frowned. “What else do you want?”
Does she really intend to mark Shen Fu? Not on my watch!
Wen Min’s eyes held a flash of helplessness. She knew this was a misunderstanding that couldn’t be solved with a few words, so she lowered her gaze and said sincerely, “No matter what you think of me, I will take full responsibility for Miss Shen.”
Her words were as unbelievable as a drunkard promising to quit drinking. Chao Man Yun couldn’t help but laugh. “Ha…”
Ignoring Chao Man Yun’s scoff, Wen Min gathered her courage and continued, “Could you please let me know when she’s doing better? I don’t mean anything else, I just want to make sure she’s okay. If you don’t want to tell me, that’s fine too. I’ll wait downstairs until I see she’s recovered before I leave.”
The strawberry scent in the room had largely dissipated; if you didn’t sniff closely, it wasn’t obvious. She guessed Shen Fu must have recovered significantly.
But out of conscience, she wanted to personally confirm Shen Fu was alright. Even a glance would suffice, considering she was already entangled in this mess.
Chao Man Yun’s expression instantly turned cold. Wen Min’s devotion and persistence were the complete opposite of what she expected. How could a person like this casually impregnate someone? There was only one possibility: she was faking it. She stared at Wen Min, full of suspicion. “If this is your tactic, just let go already.”
If she thinks acting this way will make me lower my guard, she seriously underestimates me.
At that moment, An Lu’s phone vibrated again. Seeing the familiar contact, her heart grew anxious. The hand clutching the report tightened until her fingertips were white.
She quickly glanced around, confirmed Wen Min hadn’t come out, and rapidly opened the message. Due to nervousness, a thin layer of sweat seeped into her palm.
[I have a surprise for you today]
The person’s temperament was volatile, and it was rare for them to use such a casual tone. Her hands trembled slightly as she typed, afraid of saying the wrong thing and displeasing them, which would ultimately lead to her suffering.
Just then, Wen Min, realizing she would only make the misunderstanding worse by talking further, and that Chao Man Yun probably wouldn’t let her see Shen Fu again, took out a car key and held it out to Chao Man Yun. “Please give this to Miss Shen for me.”
Chao Man Yun quickly took the key, urging Wen Min to leave with her eyes. “Mhm.”
Wen Min stopped struggling and wisely walked out of the examination room.
[What surprise?]
An Lu hesitated as she typed the question, debating whether to send it. When she turned her head, she realized Wen Min had silently walked up beside her.
Before she could press send, An Lu swiftly put her phone back in her pocket. She clung to Wen Min as if nothing had happened, too guilty to look her in the eye. She looked at an empty spot in the air and said, “Sister Wen Min, shall we go shopping now?”
She didn’t know how much of her chat Wen Min had seen. If she saw it… Wen Min would definitely kick her out, wouldn’t she?
To An Lu’s surprise, Wen Min gave her an extremely gentle smile, seemingly unaware of her conversation with the other person, and indulged her, saying:
“Sounds good.”
An Lu quietly sighed in relief. She looked naturally into Wen Min’s eyes, leaned her head on Wen Min’s shoulder, looped her arm through Wen Min’s, and purred, “Let’s go.”
Wen Min’s gaze flickered subtly. She took out her phone, quietly set a vibrating alarm, then reached out to An Lu, looking at the paper report. “Let me hold onto this for you.”
An Lu smoothed out the creases slightly, then handed the report to Wen Min. She looked deeply into Wen Min’s eyes, her emotions inscrutable, and smiled. “Okay.”
It seems Wen Min really cares about this child. She didn’t even come to the last check-up, but this time she did, and she even asked for the report. Is she keeping it as a memento? Sure enough, people only cherish what they might lose. She must be worried that I won’t be able to get pregnant again.
However, An Lu didn’t see that as they passed a certain trash can, Wen Min swiftly tossed the crumpled pregnancy report into it, a flicker of disgust passing through her eyes as she inhaled.
When she first walked out of the examination room, she saw An Lu intently looking at her phone, so she hadn’t disturbed her. But as she got closer, she accidentally saw the residual history in the chat window, and one sentence was particularly glaring:
[Make her believe it, or lose it]
In the time An Lu’s fingertips hovered over the send button, Wen Min silently scanned the visible content, then looked up at the contact name: Dear.
Even the most oblivious person would realize what happened—she had been cheated on!
It seemed An Lu’s child was not the Scum Alpha’s! She had almost taken the blame for someone else.
Since the partner was texting “Dear,” Wen Min quickly stood up straight, pretending she had just walked out.
She had to secretly gather evidence to avoid tipping her off and getting turned against.
Want to have an acting showdown?
Her professional training was not for nothing.
Wen Min hailed a cab. As soon as they got in, An Lu nestled against her, pressing against her arm, looking expectant. “Let’s go shop at…”
Suddenly, Wen Min’s phone vibrated incessantly. She looked at An Lu and said, “I need to take this call first.”
“Mhm.”
Wen Min turned the screen away from An Lu’s sight. She looked at the alarm screen—the reminder she had set—put on a serious expression, and quickly swiped up, stopping the vibration. Then, she held the phone to her ear, pretending to take a call. “What is it?”
The performance was so smooth that everyone believed it was real.
An Lu couldn’t hear the contents of the call, but seeing Wen Min’s look, she couldn’t help but guess who was calling. A sense of crisis washed over her.
Could it be another woman trying to steal her man?
A moment later, Wen Min said, “I’ll be there soon.”
She made a show of hanging up the phone, put it away, and said, “Something’s come up suddenly. I need to take you home first.”
Hearing this, the driver looked at An Lu through the rear-view mirror and asked, “Miss, where are you headed?”
An Lu’s brows slightly furrowed.
Although Wen Min often broke promises, today she was exceptionally gentle, giving An Lu the mistaken impression that she could push her luck. So, she looked at Wen Min pitifully, using a voice so saccharine it gave one goosebumps, and said, “Sister Wen Min, can you still spend time with me later?”
“Yes.”
But when they finally arrived home, An Lu opened the door, and her face instantly fell. She saw the surprise the person had mentioned.
