- After Transmigrating into a Scum Alpha, I Was Targeted by the Flirty Boss Omega
- Chapter 15 - She Left?
In truth, the shard she held wasn’t large. Not only did it fail to deter Si Ying, but it utterly enraged her. An Lu’s hands were trembling, and she said with shaking lips, “You already made me lose one child; do you want to make me lose another one?”
The first miscarriage was no accident; it was due to Si Ying’s unknown perversion—she particularly liked Omegas during pregnancy. When An Lu refused Si Ying’s various demands, Si Ying lost control and physically lashed out in anger, ultimately leading to the tragedy.
Just thinking about it was suffocating, yet the perpetrator of the tragedy showed no remorse.
“So what?” Si Ying was unmoved, acting as if An Lu wasn’t talking about her. She turned and walked to the coffee table, slowly picking up the bottle of red wine.
An Lu was completely desperate. Wasn’t smashing the glass enough? Did she have to smash the bottle too? To avoid repeating history, she held up the ineffective shard of glass with one hand while frantically fumbling for Wen Min’s number with the other.
Si Ying seemed determined to see this through. She raised her hand, the veins bulging on her wine-bottle-gripping hand, and steadily advanced on An Lu.
Just as she was about to smash the bottle onto An Lu, there was a sudden, urgent knocking on the door. The person outside was knocking very hard and frequently, as if they wouldn’t stop until they got a response.
Then, Wen Min’s voice called from outside, “Could you please open the door?”
Hearing Wen Min’s voice, Si Ying’s face instantly darkened. The hand gripping the wine bottle froze mid-air. She shot An Lu a terrifying look and ordered in a low voice, “Go open the door.”
An Lu deeply inhaled. She refused to put down the shard, instead slipping it into her pocket. Then, she smoothed her hair, wiped the sweat from her forehead, quickly tidied her clothes, rushed to the door, and opened it with a trembling hand.
As the door opened, Wen Min’s gentle face came into view, bringing with it an unprecedented sense of security. An Lu stood rigidly, afraid to look back, fearing Si Ying would emerge from behind her. She steadied her voice and whispered, “Sister Wen Min…”
Wen Min noticed a small spot of wine stain on An Lu’s shoe that hadn’t been there before, and the large shoes by the entrance were gone. She subtly averted her gaze, pretending not to notice anything, and looked at An Lu. “Mhm?”
“Is there something you needed?”
“The thing I had to deal with earlier is canceled,” Wen Min lied effortlessly, her exquisite acting showing no trace of falsehood. She asked naturally, “Do you want me to stay with you?”
Outside, she had heard a loud crash, like something being shattered, mixed with a cold voice—she wondered if it was the shoe owner. Her experience in the entertainment industry made her sensitive to subtle changes, so she guessed An Lu might be in trouble, prompting her to knock. Regardless of whether she’s keeping a secret lover, I can’t let any safety accidents happen.
Hearing this, An Lu curved her lips, her eyes lighting up. She replied without hesitation, “Yes, please.”
She agreed so quickly that, the moment she spoke, a sudden, muffled thump sounded from inside the house, as if something had fallen to the floor.
It was then that An Lu realized her attempt to escape had been discovered, incurring Si Ying’s displeasure. The noise seemed to warn her not to make decisions on her own. Even though Wen Min would be her backing in the future, until then, she couldn’t expose her relationship with Si Ying. If Si Ying wanted to target her, it would be as easy as crushing an ant.
“What was that noise?” Wen Min frowned slightly in confusion, trying to glance inside, but An Lu blocked her view with her body.
An Lu felt like a fish on a chopping block, completely controlled by Si Ying. She forced a smile and lied, “I recently got a cat. Maybe it knocked something over.” Before Wen Min could verify the truth, she lowered her eyes and said awkwardly, “Let’s make it another time. I suddenly remembered I have some unfinished business.”
Wen Min’s intuition told her something was wrong. Logically, An Lu should invite her in, but the reality was the opposite of what she expected. She had returned twice, and An Lu hadn’t suggested it. Wen Min asked again, “Are you sure you don’t need me to come in and take care of you?”
An Lu shook her head. “No need. I’m much better now.”
“Then…” Wen Min thought of another way to ensure her safety. “Could you call me?”
A hint of confusion flashed in An Lu’s eyes. “Call you?” In their relationship, they usually got straight to the point. Wen Min didn’t seem like the type to waste time cultivating feelings, so hearing this suggestion from her now felt strange.
Is she trying to be romantic because of the baby?
Thinking this, the usually direct An Lu felt a rare shyness and hesitated before agreeing.
Seeing her struggle, Wen Min explained, “The road home is a bit congested. I want someone to talk to.”
Hearing her intention, An Lu said softly, “Of course.”
“Great.” Wen Min called her in front of her. Only after An Lu answered did Wen Min walk away.
An Lu watched her leave, a soft smile on her face, even gently waving goodbye to Wen Min. Her warm, caring appearance was like a wife watching her lover go to work.
The moment Wen Min’s figure disappeared around the staircase corner, An Lu’s smile vanished, and she quickly shut the door.
Thank goodness I wasn’t discovered… Otherwise, this gentle facade would immediately disappear.
“If you’re tired, you can rest. Just reply to me every now and then.” Wen Min didn’t actually care about chatting with An Lu; the more she talked, the easier it was to reveal the truth. Right now, it was plausible to be a “good Alpha” because of the baby, but if another non-pregnant Zhang Lu, Li Lu, or Wang Lu popped up, she wouldn’t know what excuse to use to fool them.
She only wanted to see how the person inside would react.
Si Ying walked out with a dark expression. The moment An Lu saw her, her heart pounded, and her reply shook involuntarily. “Okay…”
The person took An Lu’s phone and typed two words into the chat, handing the screen to An Lu with impatience: [Hang up]
An Lu glanced at Si Ying’s screen and said reluctantly, “About that…” If she hung up, Si Ying might very well attack her. But if she didn’t hang up… the consequences wouldn’t be good either.
Si Ying’s face was utterly grim, showing no room for discussion. She deleted the previous message, rolled her eyes, and typed: [Now]
An Lu didn’t dare defy her order, but she also didn’t want to lose the chance to bond with Wen Min. She said softly, “Could we talk a bit later? I’m currently…”
Before she could finish, Wen Min interrupted her, “I’m going to film a variety show tomorrow, so I might not have much time to talk to you. Just send me a message if you need anything. I hear the director of that show is great, and the other celebrities are also…”
Wen Min opened up, fabricating stories based on her experience with variety shows. It sounded realistic, giving An Lu no chance to interject.
An Lu’s request was blocked. She watched Si Ying’s expression gradually worsen. Her heart skipped a beat, and she slowly slipped her hand into her pocket, grasping the shard she had put there earlier, ready to resist an attack at any moment.
However, perhaps restrained by Wen Min’s presence, Si Ying made no further excessive moves, simply glaring and scrolling on her phone.
Wen Min kept the conversation going for half an hour. Si Ying was not a patient person. Every second of waiting tested her limits. Wen Min had completely destroyed her earlier interest. Si Ying angrily slammed the door and left An Lu’s house.
Hearing the commotion at the door, Wen Min quickly shrunk into the corner, lowering her voice. “I’m almost there.”
An Lu watched Si Ying leave and the room become empty. She sank weakly to the floor, relieved that Wen Min’s “busy schedule” had timed out perfectly. She played along, “Then you should go work now.”
“Alright.”
Wen Min quickly hung up the phone. She had expected to wait much longer, but the person had left in just half an hour. The person was tall and thin, completely covered up, especially her face—with a baseball cap and a large mask, making her unrecognizable.
And the shoes she wore were the black sneakers Wen Min had seen at the entrance! She’s definitely complicated.
While Si Ying wasn’t looking, Wen Min poked her head out from the corner and quietly snapped a photo of the person. This evidence proved little, and the person was too covered up to identify. She couldn’t immediately recall any useful clues.
In her hasty observation, she missed one detail: a small tattoo behind the person’s ear.
Wen Min put her phone back in her pocket, preparing to call a taxi back to the hospital.
—At the hospital.
Chao Man Yun transferred Shen Fu to the staff lounge because she hadn’t woken up by the time her shift ended.
By the time Shen Fu woke up, it was evening. Wen Min was already sitting on a hallway bench, having missed dinner. She didn’t know Shen Fu had been moved and was still guarding the door of the examination room.
Seeing her awake, Chao Man Yun’s expression was grave. “Are you alright?” She had thought a lot while Shen Fu was sleeping: Am I too busy lately? Is my friend so lonely that she’s resorting to even a Scum Alpha like Wen Min?
Shen Fu nodded. “Mhm.”
She turned her head and saw a bottle of heat cycle medication on the table. She subconsciously touched her smooth neck, recalling Wen Min’s actions against her wishes. That person actually didn’t mark me, not even a temporary mark…
She quickly scanned the room. The first thing she said made Chao Man Yun’s eyes darken even more:
“She left?”
