Chapter 61

Yin Xue lay on the cold floor as her pheromones began to spread from the back of her neck. The scent of monthly roses instantly drowned out the typical odors of the restroom. As a breeze blew through, the fragrance diffused even further into the open air.

She slowly forced her eyelids open, raising a trembling hand to reach for the back of her neck, trying to stop the searing, tearing pain radiating from it.

“Is the heat starting? It hurts so much…” Tears streamed from her eyes, rolling down her cheeks like water washing a ripened tomato. Her eyelashes fluttered; based on past experience, she knew she was entering her heat period.

She had failed to seduce the Alpha and had instead collapsed herself. She crawled weakly across the floor, her eyes fixed on the discarded blocking patch not far away. She looked at it with disdain, but without something to block the scent, she couldn’t calm her mind. Now, she had changed her mind, but she didn’t even have the strength to reach for the suppression patch.

Xiao Yun… it’s all Xiao Yun’s fault. How could a person resist the pheromones of an S-rank Omega in heat? Did she truly have no feelings for her at all? Clearly, she had loved her once. How could feelings change so abruptly?

She sobbed, her body inching forward. Her trembling fingertips were just about to touch the patch when the sound of high heels echoed. Under the setting sun, a woman’s long legs were projected into the restroom, her shadow stretching out. From afar, it looked as if a savior had arrived.

Yin Xue weakly opened her eyes and looked up. The light was blinding, preventing her from seeing the newcomer clearly, but she reached out like a drowning person grabbing a straw, clutching the woman’s skirt. Her lips trembled: “Help… help me.”

The sound of heels rang through the Omega restroom. The woman wore a pencil skirt; her standing calves were firm, the lines exceptionally sexy.

“Help me.” Yin Xue assumed the newcomer was an Omega. Between Omegas, one would surely lend a hand during such a critical moment.

The woman knelt, her fingers lightly landing on the thin suppression patch. “Oh my, oh my… this has already lost its effectiveness.”

Jenny had long since smelled the scent of monthly roses. This fragrance belonged to the same rose family as top-tier Omega pheromones—roses and monthly roses.

“Do you need my help?” The voice came from [stolen content]above, sharp as a silver needle piercing from one ear to the other.

Yin Xue shivered. A chill ran down her spine. She used the last of her strength to look up and saw a graceful, mature face staring at her with obsession.

“Director…” She trembled, terrified. Endless fear surged within her. Why was an Alpha in the Omega restroom?

Jenny blocked the sunlight, standing over her like a vertical shadow. She pinched Yin Xue’s chin, her gaze falling on the flushed face. “Tsk, tsk, tsk… you’re truly beautiful when you’re in heat. What a pity. You like Xiao Yun, but she seems to have no interest in you. Why don’t you let me help you instead?”

“In your dreams!” The Omega spat with all her might. Jenny tilted her head, letting out a contemptuous laugh.

Internally, she was impressed. How feisty. Even in such a state, she was so sharp. However, Jenny loved a fiery personality. Just like her approach to her work, she loved a stage with character; she loved a challenge.

“Besides talking tough, what else can you do?” Jenny’s gaze drifted over the Omega. Her figure wasn’t quite as good as the Heavenly Queen Jiang’s, but it was still curvaceous, especially in that bold, sexy black camisole and leather skirt. The sight of fair, delicate skin at the shoulders was incredibly provocative.

The Alpha took a deep breath. “You have a great body. But with your pheromones like this, if you don’t let me help you, aren’t you afraid of attracting even more Alphas?” She paused, lifting Yin Xue’s face by the chin. “Tsk tsk. You look a lot like Jiang Cha, but you aren’t her. You should know, the Alphas around here aren’t as high-quality as I am. If I leave, and three or four Alphas show up… are you sure you can endure that suffering?”

Though muddled, Yin Xue understood the implication. She let out a sigh, her chest cramping with pain. “I… help me.”

The Alpha’s proximity finally piqued her interest. Having received the Omega’s permission, Jenny smirked victoriously. She reached behind Yin Xue’s neck, gently peeling away the blocking patch to let the pheromones flood the air.

“How is that? Feeling a bit better?”

“Mhm…” Yin Xue took a deep breath, feeling the comfort of the pheromones.

The afterglow of the sunset gradually dimmed, and the crimson clouds vanished. As the sun sank and the moon rose, all the buried emotions of the night surfaced, leaving no place to hide.

In the Villa.

Jiang Cha sat in the bathtub, hugging her knees and leaning her head back. Her ink-black hair cascaded over the side. From the front, the clear water partially obscured her form; she looked like a captivating demon of the sea, revealing only her head to communicate.

The room was silent, save for the ticking of the clock on the wall. Tick, tick, tick. Time flowed like dripping water, followed by a crisp chime. Midnight.

She had been soaking for an hour. She slowly opened her eyes, stood up unhurriedly, and wrapped herself in a single bath towel. She dried her damp feet on the expensive carpet and walked over to sit on the bed.

Xiao Yun wasn’t back yet. She had left at six, and now it was twelve. Six whole hours. Six hours with her “White Moonlight.”

An Omega in heat is emotionally unstable—sensitive, suspicious, irritable, and prone to feeling wronged. Jiang Cha initially thought it was just her hormones, but even after taking medicine, applying a suppressant, and a comfortable bath, she still couldn’t sleep. She knew then: she was jealous.

After sitting for a while, she stood up and walked to the mirror. She lightly loosened the towel. Looking at herself in the mirror was like examining herself through someone else’s eyes. What did it matter if others praised her beauty? In the eyes of a certain someone, it was nothing. She even felt… awkward.

After staring for a few seconds, she walked silently to the wardrobe and found a conservative set of pajamas—pink, with two white fluffy balls at the collar, a white embroidered kitten on the front, and a ruffled hem that reached her ankles, showing only her white feet. This felt much better.

Since Xiao Yun wasn’t there to nag her, she began walking around barefoot again. Just as she reached the door, she heard the turn of a key. Xiao Yun was back!

She hung up her towel, rushed to the bed, and dove under the covers. She accidentally jolted her hand and let out a soft cry of pain. Then, Xiao Yun walked in. Her footsteps were light. She changed into her slippers at the door and dragged herself inside. As usual, she paused by the bed.

Jiang Cha smelled it—the Omega pheromones on the Beta. It was Yin Xue’s scent. Her heart tightened, feeling as though she had been dropped into icy water. It hurt so much. Her brow furrowed, her nose stung, and she even forgot to breathe. A single tear escaped from the corner of her eye.

Xiao Yun leaned in to look and caught the tear with her finger. She felt suspicious—was Jiang Cha crying in her sleep? She looked so fragile it was heartbreaking.

After running out of that restroom earlier, she had originally wanted to seek comfort from Jiang Cha, but she considered that Jiang Cha was in heat. She couldn’t release her pheromones recklessly, or the Omega would be put in a difficult position where only an Alpha’s mark could help. She had given up, found a quiet lakeside, cleaned her minor scrapes, and sat there for three hours before daring to return.

Jiang Cha suddenly opened her eyes, gazing at her with tear-filled eyes before turning her head away to dodge her hand. She seemed unwilling to be touched.

Xiao Yun withdrew her hand. “You’re awake.”

Jiang Cha sat up, pulling the quilt with her. “Where did you go? It took so long.”

Xiao Yun looked at her. She knew Omegas in heat lacked a sense of security and needed care, which often led to a bad temper. “I was talking things over with Director Liao. It took some time.” Xiao Yun was exhausted, her head still spinning. She didn’t know if a night’s sleep would help.

“Just… just the director? You didn’t see anyone else?” Jiang Cha puffed out her cheeks, staring at her with wide eyes.

Xiao Yun lowered her lashes. She smelled a faint scent of roses—it seemed very anxious. “What do you mean?” Xiao Yun asked.

Jiang Cha spoke directly: “Did you go find Yin Xue?” The scent of another Omega’s pheromones had made her lose all reason. She finally couldn’t help but want to clear things up. “You went to find your White Moonlight, didn’t you?”

Xiao Yun felt dizzy and massaged her brow, her heart full of confusion. “I did go find Yin Xue, but she isn’t my White Moonlight.”

“You hugged, didn’t you?” Jiang Cha said, biting her lip. “You have the scent of her heat on you.”

Xiao Yun’s pupils froze. So it was Yin Xue’s pheromones that were making Jiang Cha’s emotions unstable. She quickly apologized: “I didn’t hug her.”

For some reason, as soon as she returned and smelled Jiang Cha’s pheromones, she desperately wanted to get close to her and be comforted by her. But seeing Jiang Cha’s instability, she suppressed her own discomfort. “I went to settle the score with her, to warn her not to harass you again.”

The Omega’s soft sniffing stopped. “Re… really?”

Xiao Yun leaned back in the chair, drained. “Yes. She dared to push you and cause you injury. Who would consider a woman like that a ‘White Moonlight’?”

Jiang Cha’s heart calmed down slightly. “Then… do you like her?”

“Only a ghost would like her,” Xiao Yun coaxed the Omega. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to bring her scent back with me.” She explained how she found Yin Xue, how Yin Xue tried to seduce her, and then laughed: “I’m a Beta; what can her little bit of pheromones do to me? I got away quickly.”

Seeing the Omega’s expression still hesitant, she explained again: “Jiangjiang, don’t worry. I will never do anything to destroy our marriage. Also, I may have liked her in the past, but the ‘me’ from the past is dead. The person I am now is no longer that person. Even if I say this, you might not understand, but I actually like people who are gentle and sweet. I can’t handle someone with such a fiery, pungent personality.”

Xiao Yun couldn’t organize her words well. In short, after finishing, she felt she couldn’t stand steadily. Her body let out a thud as she collapsed onto the bed.

Jiang Cha’s mood had just been soothed by Xiao Yun’s preference for “gentle and sweet” people, but then she saw Xiao Yun’s head tilt as she fell onto the mattress.

“Xiao Yun!” Jiang Cha was jolted back by the spring of the bed. She hurried over, placing a hand on her face. The Beta’s face was red and burning, with fine sweat appearing on her forehead. She had been so focused on herself that she hadn’t realized Xiao Yun was suffering so much. “Xiao Yun, you have a fever.”

The Beta struggled to part her lips, murmuring something. Jiang Cha leaned her ear in; her earlobe accidentally brushed against Xiao Yun’s face. She shyly moved back a bit, her hands tightening as she focused on listening.

“I… am… fine.”

Jiang Cha turned her head. “Clearly you aren’t. Why are you acting tough?” As she finished, she realized she was facing Xiao Yun’s red lips. The mouth was slightly open, revealing even teeth and two sharp little canines—looking as if they were grown specifically to bite through a gland. Even the Beta had such pretty little canines; she stared in a daze.

“Wait, no… what’s wrong with you? I want to help!”

Xiao Yun’s breathing was rapid, her eyes half-open. She struggled to speak: “It seems like… pheromone… allergy.”

Jiang Cha was startled. “Whose?”

“Yin Xue’s. It hurts… dizzy.”

The Beta is allergic to Alpha pheromones—could she be allergic to Omega pheromones too? She didn’t have time to ask. She lay down beside Xiao Yun and took her hand, preparing to release her own pheromones.

Xiao Yun struggled to pull her hand away. “No… dangerous.” An Omega in heat releasing pheromones recklessly could easily lose control. If there wasn’t a suitable Alpha around to mark her, it would be a disaster.

Jiang Cha realized: “Right, you reminded me.”

Xiao Yun squinted. “It’s fine… I’ll just endure it.”

Endure it? Jiang Cha watched her anxiously. Veins were popping on Xiao Yun’s forehead from the pain. Her sweat was no longer a drizzle but falling in large beads like heavy rain. Jiang Cha used an entire box of tissues and still couldn’t keep her dry.

What do I do? What do I do? She found the thermometer in the medical kit and scanned her forehead. The Beta’s temperature had reached 39.8°C. If she kept burning like this, she would be ruined. She burst into tears, a drop falling on Xiao Yun’s hand.

Xiao Yun touched her face with one hand, her thumb drying the tear. “Don’t cry… the pheromones… will leak out.”

Jiang Cha froze. Pheromones… right. Tears, sweat, saliva—they all contained pheromones. She didn’t need to “release” them; she could still comfort Xiao Yun. She sniffled and leaned close to Xiao Yun’s lips, her eyes fixed on the slightly open mouth. “Yunyun, I thought of a way. My… my saliva’s pheromones can also comfort you.”

Xiao Yun sat up like a dying patient suddenly energized. She coughed, looking like a chronic invalid. “No… you can’t.”

“Why? Do you still have your ‘virgin’ kiss or something?” Jiang Cha sat beside her, her knees pinning down the clothes at Xiao Yun’s waist. Her hands held down Xiao Yun’s restless arms. She lowered her head, looking into her eyes, waiting for an answer.

Xiao Yun felt it was ironic. Usually, she could take on five people, but now she had no strength and couldn’t even resist an Omega. She tilted her head. “No… that’s not what I meant.”

“Do you find me loathsome?” Seeing her turn away, a flash of disappointment appeared in Jiang Cha’s eyes.

Xiao Yun panted heavily. “This… isn’t a good way.”

“Then what is a ‘good way’? Letting your brain burn until your fever hits forty and you’re useless? I really wonder if you’ve joined some cult, unwilling to even let me help. Xiao Yun, if I didn’t see you were about to die, I wouldn’t be this proactive. Remember, this is my first kiss. I’m giving it to you to save you, do you hear me?”

Jiang Cha took a deep breath, as if making a monumental decision, and leaned down to kiss her. But before her lips touched, she suddenly felt it was pointless. Pointless—everything was her initiative. Even with their lips less than a millimeter apart, Xiao Yun wouldn’t even slightly lift her head to touch her. Am I that cheap?

Sadness flooded her mind. Her nose stung, and tears welled up. Fine, I’ll just cry some tears for her to drink instead. But as she cried, it wasn’t just tears; she let out involuntary, weak whimpers.

Xiao Yun’s half-closed eyes suddenly widened, her pupils focusing. She struggled to speak: “Jiangjiang?”

“I… I’m not sad. I just want to cry to cure you,” Jiang Cha explained, terrified Xiao Yun would think her tears were from unrequited love. But the more she tried to force tears out, the more those damn tears refused to come.

The Omega’s eyes were red, her mouth open, her pink lips trembling with her sobs. So… so cute.

Xiao Yun found strength from somewhere and rolled over to sit up. She protected Jiang Cha’s head and, in one motion, pulled her into her lap. The Omega stopped crying, her eyes wide with shock. Xiao Yun’s eyes were bloodshot, her face red beyond description. Most importantly, something seemed to be flickering in those eyes.

Jiang Cha called out fearfully, “Yun… Yunyun.”

The Beta leaned her head down, her burning cheek pressed against hers. “It really is a first kiss. I’m… reluctant.”

She said she was reluctant, yet she leaned in anyway. Jiang Cha was at a loss. As the pleasant pheromones flooded her senses, a spring of joy surged through her heart, flowing to her extremities. She gripped the quilt tightly to stop herself from moving. It was as if she had been given a sedative. The other person smelled of a light wine—like a ripe lemon that had been fermented into fruit wine.

Did Xiao Yun drink? She didn’t overthink it. Slowly, her body relaxed. She let go of the quilt and reached out to loop her arms around Xiao Yun’s neck.

Receiving the embrace, Xiao Yun lowered her head further, her hands sliding into the Omega’s hair, gently supporting her small head to feel the pheromones more deeply. At first, she just wanted to absorb a bit of pheromones, but she soon found it wasn’t enough. She couldn’t stop this embrace—greedy, endless, wanting to crush the rose in her arms.

Why is she so soft? Her voice is so sweet, such a weak Omega… so cute.

Xiao Yun certainly had selfish motives. This time, even knowing she was a “White Bone Demon,” she would prolong this embrace even if it cost her life. She wanted to cherish this hard-won hug, to feel the heartbeats, the breathing, the tenderness.

She mocked herself internally: Xiao Yun, how dare you. You craved her beauty, you were shameless, you embraced her proactively, you lusted after her pheromones. Whether you lose your life or get eaten until not even a scrap of bone is left, you only have one thing to say to yourself: You damn well deserve it!

Some time passed.

Jiang Cha felt intoxicated, as if she had absorbed the lingering scent of wine from the Beta. The scent wasn’t overpowering; it was a sweet lemon wine, but the aftereffect seemed powerful. Forget Xiao Yun drinking it—just by coming into contact with it, Jiang Cha felt a restlessness she couldn’t suppress.

She had thought Xiao Yun wouldn’t know how to kiss, but as it turned out… she touched her swollen red lips, the sweet sensation echoing in her mind. Xiao Yun… she must have had a girlfriend before.

Though she felt a tiny bit of jealousy, she was mostly happy. This was Xiao Yun’s initiative. Regardless of whether it was for “curing” her or something else, it meant Xiao Yun at least didn’t find her repulsive.

Filled with joy, she was too excited to sleep. After they stopped kissing, Xiao Yun quickly fell asleep, lying by her side with one hand still tangled in her hair. She slept deeply, her breathing shallow, her chest rising and falling in the darkness.

Xiao Yun hadn’t changed her clothes; she was still in her trench coat. To make her more comfortable, Jiang Cha sat up and used some effort to lift her. The Beta was much heavier than her. She struggled to hold her as she fumbled to remove the coat.

Underneath, Xiao Yun wore a white short-sleeved T-shirt. In the dark, her skin seemed to glow, especially her arms. Her left arm was wrapped in a bandage—it seemed she was injured. Jiang Cha hadn’t even known; she touched the injured arm with heartache.

Accidentally touching the sore spot, Xiao Yun groaned, her breathing becoming a bit heavier. “Yunyun?” Jiang Cha whispered, her breath hitching. Realizing she hadn’t woken up, she exhaled slowly, watching her expression carefully.

In the dim room, illuminated only by moonlight, Xiao Yun’s profile was partially lit—her features sharp and her expression calm. Under the pale light, she looked cool and elegant. Yet, such a cold person hadn’t been hesitant at all just now.

Jiang Cha smirked secretly, staring at her lashes. They were long and curled. She couldn’t resist reaching out to flick them, her own finger feeling ticklish from the contact. Xiao Yun’s brow eventually furrowed, and her lips parted slightly: “So hot…”

Jiang Cha withdrew her hand. She leaned down, carefully placing her hands… Xiao Yun began to tug at her own clothes in her sleep, pulling the T-shirt up. Jiang Cha stared for a long time before her fingers finally found the buttons.

Jiang Cha hesitated, then slowly crawled to the foot of the bed, pulling at the clothes with both hands. Because of the sweat, the fabric was clinging tightly; it took some effort to help her. Sitting at the edge of the bed, she briefly admired Xiao Yun’s figure before pulling the quilt over her. Though it was only a glance, the smooth lines of her legs revealed a well-exercised, healthy body.

As she lay back down, she kept thinking of those perfect long legs. She couldn’t believe she was in the same bed with her, sharing warmth. The entire quilt felt warm. Jiang Cha carefully inched toward her, embracing her to comfort her into sleep.

It felt like being toasted by a warm little sun; every inch of Xiao Yun’s skin was transferring heat to her.

It was so comfortable she greedily pressed closer.

She hugged Xiao Yun’s arm, staring at her sleeping face until dawn broke, finally falling asleep with a smile.
