Chapter 65

Although Xiao Yun was drunk, she retained a sliver of consciousness. She only felt a lingering, sticky discomfort all over her body, so when the great beauty offered to bathe her, she nodded shyly.

“We’re both women; don’t we look the same?”

“You washed me last time, I didn’t think much of it.”

Once she was talked into it, the beauty grabbed a towel and led her toward the bathroom.

It was early summer. Outside the window, cicadas chirped in the trees—a rhythmic, intermittent sound that drifted into the bathroom. The healing sound instantly calmed her heart.

The Omega hung up the bath towel and turned to look at her. Xiao Yun quickly averted her gaze, staring at the white tiles instead. She peeked at Jiang Cha out of the corner of her eye, watching those hands reach toward her, landing coolly against her neck.

The pleasant chill made her shiver, her goosebumps seeming to vibrate in sync with the cicadas.

Because she was quite tall, the Omega had to stand lightly on her tiptoes to unfasten the halter neck of her dress. The weight of her entire body rested on her toes, and in that instant, the white tips of her feet turned a soft, tender pink from the pressure—they looked incredibly cute. Her calves formed beautiful muscular lines from the exertion, and her legs wobbled slightly as if she were about to lose her balance.

Xiao Yun’s cheeks burned, and she instinctively crouched down to help. Jiang Cha’s hands paused, and she exhaled, relaxing her stance. “Why are you being so obedient?”

She glanced at Xiao Yun and saw that after the praise, the Beta’s cheeks were flushed like twin cherries, her eyes sparkling with pride.

“I only gave you a little compliment.”

Jiang Cha finally found the opening of the bow. She moved behind Xiao Yun and asked her to lean over again. The Beta complied, crouching halfway and entrusting her entire back to her. The beautiful bow sat quietly between her “butterfly” shoulder blades, looking like wings ready to take flight. Her fingers landed on the small wings of the bow and gently pulled them open, creating a silken sound of fabric that was even more pleasant than the cicadas outside.

Jiang Cha held her breath, her fingers trembling. She felt as though summer itself was spreading toward her in a damp, sweltering wave. Her breathing grew heavy. “You can stand up now,” she said.

She moved back to the front and slowly pulled the straps. The gossamer-woven straps slid through her hands, brushing over the Beta’s tender skin, the distinct lines of her collarbone and breastbone, and then—shua—they fell to the waist. The top of the dress bunched at her midsection, revealing very prominent “11-line” abs.

Jiang Cha cleared her throat. “Take the rest off yourself. I’ll go run the water.” She moved past the radiating heat of the Beta, her own body feeling as though the fever were contagious.

She adjusted the temperature and started the water. It hissed as it hit the tub, composing an ambiguous summer march alongside the cicadas. Jiang Cha squeezed some body wash into her palm and rubbed it; the bubbles made wet, intimate sounds as they dripped through her fingers—pata, pata. Each bubble felt like a tiny, delicate explosion right next to her ear.

Only when the surface of the tub was covered in an inch-thick layer of foam did she consider the job done. The bathroom was soon filled with steam from the hot water, and she broke into a light sweat. Even without drinking, her cheeks burned.

She turned off the water. In the silence that followed, the fragile sound of clothes hitting the floor reached her ears. Jiang Cha glanced at the ground. Slender legs stepped out from the center of the dress, the muscles creating beautiful lines with every movement.

That pair of long legs walked toward her. She actually felt a bit shy. Aside from herself, she had never seen anyone else’s.

The tall Beta stood beside her. As Jiang Cha crouched, the large shadow loomed over her smaller one, creating an intense sense of pressure. Her fingers curled slightly, and she grabbed a rubber duck nearby to steady her restless heart.

“Get in.” Jiang Cha placed the duck in the water, creating a splashing sound.

In a place she couldn’t see, a pair of hands reached out, searching for something to lean on. Seeing she wasn’t moving, Jiang Cha looked up at her, trying to avoid the “important” parts, though a quick glance was inevitable. Her gaze finally landed on Xiao Yun’s hands. The Beta looked down, her eyes full of expectation, clearly waiting for support.

“The tub is slippery,” Xiao Yun said, having found a reasonable excuse.

Jiang Cha stood up and reached out, grabbing her wrist. “Get in then.” She was facing… after a quick glance, she unconsciously bit her lip.

The Beta finally sat down obediently, her entire body submerged in the bubbles. Only then did Jiang Cha regain her composure. She pulled over a small stool and sat by the tub, starting to lather the foam. As she worked, certain thoughts arose, causing the corners of her mouth to turn up.

Xiao Yun stared at her mysterious smile and asked in a drunken tone, “What… are you laughing at?”

Jiang Cha shook her head. “Nothing. Big Sister is going to bathe you now.”

The Beta lowered her eyes, blushing, stealing glances at her from time to time. She saw Jiang Cha’s hands covered in foam as they reached for her shoulders. A cool sensation made her shiver involuntarily. Because she was drunk, her skin was particularly sensitive; it felt like a kitten was scratching—scratching right into her heart.

The Beta’s neck was very sexy. Jiang Cha’s fingertips gently massaged it, feeling every protruding vein and vessel. Too sexy. She gripped her collarbone, and the Beta took a deep breath, her body fluctuating slightly.

“What’s there to be shy about?” Jiang Cha said softly.

The Beta didn’t blame her. “You’re washing… very seriously.”

Jiang Cha giggled. “I’ll do a good job.”

Jiang Cha moved behind her and saw the green scent-blocking patch on the back of her neck. Her finger landed on it. “I’m peeling this off first, okay?” The Beta nodded. Feeling a bit ticklish, her shoulders shrugged slightly. “Don’t be afraid, it won’t hurt.”

Jiang Cha peeled it away gently. Though the Beta didn’t have an Omega’s gland, there was a thumb-sized cervical vertebra there. It felt hard to the touch.

“It tickles.” Xiao Yun tilted her head forward as if protesting the touch. Because she was a Beta and had never developed a gland, she likely felt a deep sense of inferiority about this. Jiang Cha coaxed her and stopped touching her “forbidden zone.”

For some reason—perhaps because she had just provoked her—the smell of alcohol on Xiao Yun grew more intense, accompanied by the “marinated” lemon pheromones. The scent was getting to her head. She couldn’t help but lean closer to the neck to take a deep sniff. She didn’t dare get too close, maintaining a distance of about two fists.

At this distance, she could see the Beta’s small ears. The helix was thin, and the lobe was slightly plump. She had kissed them last time; looking at them again gave her a sense of looking at her own “belongings.” The Beta’s ears seemed to turn red under the scrutiny. She turned her head. “Why did you stop?”

Jiang Cha looked away and lifted Xiao Yun’s arm. “Nothing, I was just thinking of where to wash next.” She rubbed her skin with her hands, palm-to-arm. The silky foam and the pleasant sound of water soaked into her sweltering heart.

After washing the arms, Jiang Cha started down from the collarbone. She looked at Xiao Yun triumphantly and saw the Beta’s pupils vibrate as she exhaled hot air. Xiao Yun looked into her eyes. “Why… not… use a washcloth?”

Jiang Cha rubbed unrestrictedly. “Washcloths can scrape off skin. They aren’t as good as hands. Next time you wash me, you aren’t allowed to use a washcloth either, do you hear me?”

Xiao Yun seemed intimidated by her. “Is that a thing? Did I… hurt you last time?”

Jiang Cha didn’t want to discourage her, so she just shook her head. “A little bit.”

The bath took nearly an hour. Jiang Cha was meticulous, leaving no crevice untouched, ensuring every bit of “grime” was scrubbed clean—fitting for someone like Xiao Yun who loved cleanliness. However, while her hands were fine after the bath, the corners of her mouth had reached her temples; her jaw was sore from smiling so much. Even so, it was all permitted by Xiao Yun, so she felt no guilt or shame for “tricking” an innocent girl.

After the bath, the “puppy” changed into pajamas. Jiang Cha served her until she was in bed, finally catching her breath. Xiao Yun’s drunkenness hadn’t faded; her eyes were bloodshot and her face was flushed. Jiang Cha assumed it was just the alcohol and rushed to the kitchen to make her some hangover soup.

The room grew quiet. Xiao Yun’s consciousness was gradually clearing, but her head still ached. She pinched the bridge of her nose, feeling ashamed of her behavior. Because the washing felt good, she had let Jiang Cha wash here and there, and Jiang Cha had been so obedient, never refusing a request. How is Jiang Cha so gentle and considerate? She feared she would never find another such submissive female Omega. She desperately didn’t want Jiang Cha to leave her side, but the good days were coming to an end.

After a moment of self-pity, Jiang Cha returned. Xiao Yun hid her sadness and tried to sit up straight. A bowl of black liquid appeared before her, smelling of a pungent sourness. She frowned.

Jiang Cha sat at the head of the bed, blowing on a spoonful of the soup. “Hangover soup I made for you.” Seeing the Beta’s features scrunch up, she knew the smell was unpleasant. “Ahem, good medicine is bitter. Drink this, and your head won’t hurt when you wake up tomorrow.”

The Beta didn’t seem to buy it. She glanced at the soup and turned her head away. Jiang Cha wasn’t going to indulge her this time. She took a spoonful, tested the temperature with her lips, and then pinched Xiao Yun’s chin to feed her through those plump lips.

“You’re a doctor, yet you’re afraid of a little bitterness?” Jiang Cha pinched her lips open. “Say ‘Ah’?” Then she poured the black medicine into her mouth.

The Beta’s expression twisted as if she were about to cry. She held the medicine in her mouth without swallowing, the dark juice hanging at the corner of her lips, looking as if she were about to spit it out.

“Don’t you dare spit.”

“Mhm…”

As Xiao Yun tried to turn her head away, Jiang Cha pinched her chin and pressed her own mouth against hers. The bitterness from the lips immediately spilled over. Jiang Cha used her tongue to push the medicine back in and appropriately released some pheromones, filling the entire mouth with the sweet taste of roses. The Beta’s pupils dilated, and she gripped the quilt tightly as she finally swallowed the soup. The sweetness of the pheromones mixed with the medicine calmed her restless heart.

Jiang Cha didn’t linger; she quickly pulled away. Then she stared at her. “Is it still bitter, Yunyun?”

Xiao Yun’s eyes flickered as she shook her head. “Not bitter.”

“Then take a sip, and Big Sister will give you a ‘sip’ of pheromones, okay?” Jiang Cha looked at her with a half-smile.

Xiao Yun seemed to be debating if this was a fair trade. After a moment, she seemed to decide. She didn’t let Jiang Cha feed her; she took the bowl and downed it in one go.

Oh, so she isn’t interested in my pheromones? Jiang Cha felt a bit dejected. Does Xiao Yun not want to kiss me? Last time was out of necessity for pheromone comfort; this time, her proactivity felt too reckless. As a delicate Omega, how could I be so forward?

After finishing the soup, Xiao Yun put the bowl on the nightstand. She looked at the bowl; it was so clean not a drop remained, as if it had been licked. After putting it down, she stole glances at Jiang Cha.

“Finished?” Jiang Cha asked.

Xiao Yun nodded.

Jiang Cha picked up the bowl and tilted it. “Pretty clean, huh.”

She stood up to leave. She didn’t notice the Beta beside her transition from surprise to anger. Xiao Yun suddenly seized her wrist and pulled her back onto the bed. Jiang Cha was pinned beneath her, their eyes meeting. Her breathing tightened, and her heart hammered.

Xiao Yun’s gaze dropped to her lips. She looped one arm around her neck and pressed down.

“Mhm…”

Xiao Yun captured her lips. Jiang Cha’s hand loosened, and the white porcelain bowl dropped to the floor. It rolled across the lamb’s wool carpet with a trembling rattle before falling silent. Only the wet sound of kissing remained in the air.

Jiang Cha closed her eyes and reached out to cradle Xiao Yun’s head, earnestly repaying the “sugar” she had just promised. The lemon-wine taste in Xiao Yun’s mouth made her body shiver. She swallowed several times, her body moving involuntarily. She looped her arms around Xiao Yun’s neck while Xiao Yun toyed with her ear, using her other hand to pull her waist closer.

The Beta’s pressure made her feel a bit endangered, yet full of anticipation. She met her with rapid breathing. She felt the Beta’s fingertips move from her ear to her neck, collarbone, and then to her shoulder. The fragrant scent was everywhere.

The Beta pulled back, her eyes scrutinizing her, staring for a long time as if waiting for a response. Jiang Cha felt shy and whispered, “I haven’t showered.”

The Beta hesitated, perhaps thinking it was a rejection, or thinking of something else. Her eyes blinked, and her expression became calmer. She lay down beside Jiang Cha, pulling her into an embrace. Jiang Cha turned and rested her head on her arm.

It wasn’t that she was unwilling, but Xiao Yun was drunk. If something really happened and she woke up tomorrow using another excuse like last time, Jiang Cha would be heartbroken. She didn’t want her first beautiful experience to be while the other person was intoxicated.

She carefully snuggled into the Beta’s chest, her cool face against her neck. “You aren’t angry, are you?”

The person holding her shook her head and tightened her grip. “Don’t leave.”

Jiang Cha was stunned. “Leave to where?”

“To another Alpha,” Xiao Yun’s muffled voice came from above.

Jiang Cha giggled. “I’m not going anywhere. I’m right here with you.”

She hoped Xiao Yun would say the same when sober. She tugged at the Beta’s hand, pulling it toward her front; the friction of the fabric made a sharp sound. As the hot palm landed, Jiang Cha’s heart leaped. She looked directly into Xiao Yun’s eyes and saw the gaze turn from calm to shock, then to a shy squint. “L-look… like a rabbit,” Xiao Yun stared at her.

Jiang Cha’s cheeks were red. She felt a bit shameful, yet she craved the intimacy. She took a deep breath. The Beta’s face grew even redder.

“Have you ever been like this with anyone else?” Jiang Cha moved closer.

Xiao Yun held her breath and shook her head. “No.”

A faint ripple spread through Jiang Cha’s heart, like a blood clot dissolving. She fumbled around, lifting the hem of Xiao Yun’s shirt. Her fingertips landed on those “11-line” abs, trembling slightly. The scorching touch made her whole body shiver. Then, she moved closer, gently embracing her.

The touch of ice and fire was like a bolt of lightning striking between them. After the thunderous moment, it was like a spring rain—gentle, soaking into the earth. She could hear the Beta’s rapid heartbeat and feel the warm breath. She was drowning in those unfathomable eyes.

The moon hooked its smile and set in the west; the sun blushed and rose in the east. Gentle rosy clouds spilled through the window into the room, landing on the woman’s closed eyes. Perhaps irritated by the light, Xiao Yun’s brow furrowed and she slowly opened her eyes.

What met her sight was a snowy-white cheek, surrounded by ink-black hair. The sharp contrast of black and white under the sunrise was dazzling. Combined with those rosy lips, the person in her arms looked like a famous painting.

Xiao Yun didn’t know why she was so close. A downward glance revealed they were hugging tightly. The warmth at her chest shattered her early-morning peace, jolting her awake and dragging her into deep memories. Like a thief, she gently loosened her grip, prying Jiang Cha’s fingers away one by one, then placed Jiang Cha’s hand back on her own waist. She completed her “retreat,” leaning back and breathing rapidly, looking at the woman before her with fear—oh, she looks even more like a masterpiece now.

She swallowed hard, pulling up the quilt to hide the “painting.” After jumping out of bed, her memories remained fragmented. She saw the bowl on the floor, face down. She picked it up, and it was as if she had opened a sealed memory; the events of yesterday replayed in the bowl.

Bathing! Feeding medicine! Kissing! She grew so anxious she could barely breathe. They say alcohol ruins things—heavens, she hadn’t resisted the temptation of beauty after all. Without waiting for Jiang Cha to wake up, she dressed and fled the room like a refugee.

At the hospital, she was distracted all morning. She pushed back all her surgeries and sat alone in her office, staring at the willow trees outside. She didn’t know how she could have said those things. Don’t leave? Follow her? Follow her, a Beta? To have her gland removed when her pheromones go out of control?

No, no, no. Even setting that aside, Jiang Cha likely still had Li Rang in her heart. Their intimacy was only because Jiang Cha liked to repay favors. An Omega looked at her—wealth, status, position—it seemed all she lacked was to offer herself up. This wasn’t normal; it wasn’t right.

Several days passed, and she never brought it up. Moreover, she adopted a new tactic: with only a few days left until Li Rang’s release, she would just hold on. Once the two were reunited, she would bow out.

These past few days, she enrolled in an Omega Suppressant Research course. She spent every day in the lab, busy with studies. She came home at 11 or 12 PM, sometimes 1 or 2 AM, and stayed in her small study. She left early and returned late; even when she ran into Jiang Cha, she only gave a slight nod. Several times, Jiang Cha seemed to want to talk, but seeing how rushed she was, she didn’t speak. Jiang Cha surely felt her intentional distancing.

Jiang Cha was now a shareholder of Guangyao Media; the “dirty work” assigned to her grew fewer and fewer. She sat on the sofa listlessly filing her nails, wondering why Xiao Yun hadn’t said more than two words to her lately. Busy, busy, busy—always busy. She hadn’t even mentioned what happened last time.

Honey saw Jiang Cha’s irritated face and trotted over. “What’s wrong, President Jiang?”

Jiang Cha cleared her throat. “Sigh, I have a friend. She hugged and kissed someone while they were drunk. She thought their relationship would progress after waking up, but the person she met never mentioned it and even purposefully avoided her. What do you think is going on?”

Honey leaned on her hand. “Drunken sex? Who takes that seriously? Did your friend actually date the person?”

Jiang Cha shook her head.

“Then, did they ever say they liked each other or say anything ambiguous? Drunken words don’t count.”

Jiang Cha mused, “I… I haven’t heard her mention that.”

“In that case, there are too many possibilities. First, your friend didn’t show she liked them, and the person doesn’t know if your friend likes them. They’re just staying silent. Hard to judge.”

“Really? But my friend actually likes that person quite a bit. She just doesn’t know the person’s attitude.”

Honey puckered her lips. “I think it was just a drunken lapse. You need to be in a normal state, you know? Express ambiguous feelings in a normal state. Take it slow.”

Jiang Cha nodded. “I see.”

Honey: “By the way, you’re definitely going to the National Medical and Business Conference in a few days, right?”

“Yes, I’ve been invited. It’s my first commercial event, I’m a bit nervous.”

“What’s there to be nervous about? Your Alpha will accompany you. The Zhongshan Hospital team will definitely include Xiao Yun; she’s so capable. I just wonder which famous names Beike Pharmaceuticals will bring. Usually, Vice President Li would attend, but unfortunately…” She paused. “Sorry, Jiangjiang, I didn’t mean to bring her up.”

Jiang Cha shook her head. “It’s okay. The thing between us is long in the past. Besides, isn’t she getting out soon? Perhaps the hospital won’t hold a grudge and might even re-hire her.”

“True. Top-tier medical hands are rare, and it’s not like she committed a heinous crime.”

Jiang Cha sighed. “Character and medical skill—I think character is more important. Well, none of my business. I have to go, I’m visiting my mom today.”

Honey: “Oho, President Jiang, do you just miss your little lover?”

Jiang Cha hummed. “I’m just visiting ‘her’ in passing… to see if she’s being lazy and intentionally not coming home at night.”
