After Pretending to Be an Alpha, I Was Exposed by My Rival - Chapter 13
Wu Qi and Houzi covered the swollen bumps on their heads and shut their mouths resentfully.
They behaved for all of two minutes. Then the two exchanged a glance, smiled foolishly, grabbed paper and pens, and began passing notes to continue their discussion.
After class.
Wu Qi and Houzi were still deeply immersed in the charm of passing notes and could not pull themselves away. They discussed what had happened in the game last night, passing notes back and forth happily, occasionally letting out a couple of silly laughs.
Lu Chizhou rested both hands behind his head, stretched out his long legs, leaned back against his chair, and lifted the front two legs of the chair off the ground. Bored, he watched Wu Qi and Houzi continue passing notes.
His eyes followed the paper ball as it moved back and forth between them.
A moment later.
Lu Chizhou thought of something.
Bang.
The chair legs landed on the ground. Lu Chizhou leaned forward, snatched the pen from Houzi’s hand, then took the homework notebook in front of Wu Qi. He flipped to a blank page and tore out a sheet of white paper.
Then he started writing.
Wu Qi and Houzi turned around to look.
Wu Qi leaned over with a smile. “Brother Lu, what are you doing?”
Houzi looked curious. “Are you writing a love letter? Who is it for? Come on, let me check it for you. I guarantee you’ll successfully bring the beauty home in one go.”
Wu Qi shoved Houzi and teased, “With our Brother Lu’s face, does he even need to write a love letter? His face is the ultimate love letter.”
“I can’t refute that,” Houzi agreed. He stretched his neck, wanting to see what Lu Chizhou had written.
But just as he got close, before he could see a single word, Lu Chizhou roughly pushed him away. “Move. Don’t block the way.”
Lu Chizhou carefully folded the note, stuffed it into his pocket, stood up, left his seat, and walked straight toward Zhou Yijue’s desk.
Houzi and Wu Qi hooked their arms around each other’s shoulders and guessed who he was going to give the note to.
“If it’s a love letter, I guess it’s for Li Ziyan from the next class.” Houzi quickly picked up the pen rolling toward the edge of the desk before it fell, then tucked it into a book.
“Funny, I also guess Li Ziyan.”
“No way. I guessed Li Ziyan first. You have to guess someone else. If you lose, treat me to a meal.” Houzi played dirty.
“Why don’t you just directly ask me to treat you to a meal?” Wu Qi rolled his eyes. His gaze swept around, and he casually pointed. “Then I’ll guess him.”
“Who?” Houzi asked.
“Zhou Yijue,” Wu Qi said.
“Him? Then you’re definitely treating me to this meal.” Houzi thought about scamming a free meal and smiled smugly.
“Fuck.” Wu Qi suddenly shouted.
Houzi followed his gaze and saw Lu Chizhou stop beside Zhou Yijue’s seat.
Both of their faces were filled with confusion.
“What is Brother Lu doing? He can’t be giving a love letter to Zhou Yijue, right?” Houzi’s tiny eyes were filled with huge doubt.
Wu Qi removed Houzi’s arm from his shoulder and looked at him like he was an idiot. “Is your brain stuffed with paste? Since it’s for Zhou Yijue, then it definitely isn’t a love letter. I’d bet it’s most likely a challenge letter.”
“A challenge letter?” Houzi crossed his arms and rubbed his chin thoughtfully. “That makes sense. Brother Lu and that Zhou guy’s magnetic fields don’t match. The two of them are destined enemies and archenemies.”
“He gave it, he gave it! Brother Lu threw the challenge letter to Zhou Yijue.” Wu Qi excitedly provided a live commentary.
Houzi looked over and wondered in his heart: That gentle motion of handing it over—are you sure that counts as throwing? This idiot Wu Qi must have some kind of misunderstanding about the verb “throw.”
“Zhou Yijue stood up. Quick, look. They won’t start fighting in the classroom, right?” Wu Qi was so excited that he grabbed Houzi’s arm. He used too much force, leaving a large red patch on Houzi’s arm.
Houzi looked disgusted and pried his fingers off one by one.
Zhou Yijue looked at the folded note in front of him, then frowned at Lu Chizhou. “What?”
Lu Chizhou’s slender fingers lightly pressed on the folded paper and pushed it toward Zhou Yijue. “Remember to read it. Reply to me after you finish.”
Then he left.
Yuan Big Head was chewing strawberry-flavored bread. His face wrinkled into a ball, full of confusion. “What’s he doing? Asking you to fight?”
As he spoke, he reached out, wanting to take the note on the desk and look at its contents.
Smack.
His hand had just reached over and had not even touched the paper when Zhou Yijue slapped it hard.
Yuan Big Head aggrievedly rubbed the reddened back of his hand, lowered his head, bit into his bread, and muttered quietly, “It’s just a note. Is it that serious? I can’t even look?”
Zhou Yijue’s face was cold.
He stared at the note without speaking.
He did not know what Lu Chizhou wanted to do. He also did not know what was written inside the note.
If it really was only a challenge, he would not be afraid of Yuan Big Head seeing it. But what if it was not?
Zhou Yijue still remembered very clearly what had happened yesterday when he was blocked in the alley on his way home. What if Lu Chizhou’s brain had been kicked by a donkey and he had written something shameful inside? Or what if he mentioned Zhou Yijue’s Omega identity…
In short, no matter which possibility it was, no one else could be allowed to see it.
To be cautious.
With a grave expression, Zhou Yijue picked up the note and slowly unfolded it, avoiding Yuan Big Head’s curious gaze as he read the contents inside.
There were only two lines.
After reading it, the only thing he wanted to do was smash Lu Chizhou’s dog head in.
Zhou Yijue was so angry that his face turned iron-blue. He crumpled the note into a ball and raised his hand to throw it into the trash can in the corner of the classroom. But before throwing it, he met Lu Chizhou’s half-smiling face.
Lu Chizhou was smiling, thinking that he looked very gentle.
But in Zhou Yijue’s eyes, it looked like this guy was threatening him. An outright threat.
Zhou Yijue remembered what he had agreed to after his identity was exposed. No matter what excessive request Lu Chizhou made, he would agree, as long as it was not murder or arson.
Fuck.
Zhou Yijue was so angry that he almost shattered his teeth from clenching them. When he picked up the pen, it was as if he were holding a knife. Venting his anger, he wrote his reply with force.
After finishing, he crumpled the note into a ball. With a cold face, he glanced at Lu Chizhou, then threw the paper ball with the force of a hidden weapon, aiming straight at Lu Chizhou’s handsome face.
Houzi had just turned around and happened to see the paper ball flying over. He dodged in fright and shouted, “Fuck, sneak attack!”
Lu Chizhou caught the paper ball at once and smiled especially happily. He even threw Zhou Yijue a flirtatious wink, almost angering Zhou Yijue into ascending to heaven on the spot.
A provocation.
This was definitely a provocation.
Surnamed Lu, just you wait.
When Lu Chizhou was about to unfold the paper ball, Houzi curiously stretched his neck, wanting to see what Zhou Yijue had written to him. “Brother Lu, how is it? Did that Zhou guy respond to your challenge letter?”
Lu Chizhou slapped his palm over Houzi’s face, pushing away his face that had gotten too close. Then he smiled meaningfully. “Guess.”
Houzi thought he had guessed correctly and smiled like an idiot, his eyes narrowing until only a slit remained. “I guess he definitely agreed.”
“I have something to do after school tonight. I won’t leave with you guys. You and Wu Qi go back first.” Lu Chizhou did not answer him and changed the topic.
Houzi was full of doubts. When Wu Qi came back from the restroom, Houzi immediately grabbed him and started talking about what had just happened.
“Heh, isn’t it easy to find out? Tonight, we’ll pretend to leave first, then wait and see whether Brother Lu leaves with that Zhou guy. If they leave together, they’re definitely going to fight.”
“Makes sense.”
…
After school that evening.
Houzi and Wu Qi pretended to go home first. In reality, they crouched near the school gate, waiting for Lu Chizhou to appear.
After waiting for more than ten minutes, they finally saw Lu Chizhou appear at the school gate. Behind him was Zhou Yijue, wearing an impatient expression.
“They’re out, they’re out! Brother Lu really did ask Zhou Yijue out for a fight. What do we do? I’m so excited. The last time Brother Lu took the initiative to ask someone out for a fight was back in middle school, right?” Houzi was extremely excited. He grabbed at Wu Qi and accidentally tore off one of Wu Qi’s shirt buttons. His untrimmed fingernails scratched Wu Qi’s skin, leaving several nail marks.
“Hiss, Houzi, you bastard. Be careful.” Wu Qi hissed in pain.
Houzi glanced over, grabbed Wu Qi’s collar, and looked. “Tch, it’s just a superficial wound. It didn’t even bleed. You’re not an Omega. Are you really that delicate?”
“Fuck, if your claw had gone a little higher just now, my face would have been ruined. I still have to rely on this face to hook a beautiful Omega as lovely as a flower.”
“With that face of yours? Hehe. Do you think everyone is Brother Lu, able to use his face as a love letter?” Houzi rolled his eyes hard.
“My face can’t compare to Brother Lu’s, but at least my eyes are bigger than yours,” Wu Qi said.
“Wu Qi, screw your uncle. You actually launched a personal attack on me!”
“Same to you.”
“Your uncle…”
“Shh, shh, stop arguing. Truce, truce. Brother Lu came out.”
Zhou Yijue unwillingly followed behind Lu Chizhou. He followed Lu Chizhou onto a shared hovercar. Lu Chizhou chose the destination, and the two of them soon arrived at the commercial street in the city center.
“Follow me.”
Zhou Yijue followed Lu Chizhou as they turned left and right. Gradually, they left the bustling center and arrived deep in an alley with fewer people. He frowned as he looked around and said unhappily, “If we’re buying a birthday gift, why aren’t we buying it on the commercial street? What are we picking in this broken place?”
“That girl in our family is extremely picky. Ordinary gifts don’t catch her eye. So before choosing one, we need to fill our stomachs first. There’s an old restaurant here that I eat at often. The taste is very good… It’s that one up ahead. Let’s go.”
As Lu Chizhou spoke, he walked a few steps ahead.
After taking a few steps, he suddenly realized Zhou Yijue had not followed.
He stopped and turned back to wave at Zhou Yijue. “Come on. I’ll treat you.”
Zhou Yijue’s face was full of displeasure. He had thought that coming out to choose a birthday gift would be quick, but it turned out he even had to eat with Lu Chizhou. That had not been part of his plan.
But…
He could not refuse.
Zhou Yijue gritted his teeth and still followed.
The two entered the restaurant.
Twenty meters away, behind a corner, two sneaky faces appeared.
Houzi covered half his face and quietly asked Wu Qi, who was crouching below him, “Wasn’t Brother Lu supposed to fight Zhou Yijue? Why did they go into a restaurant? Are they competing to see who can eat more?”
Wu Qi was equally confused. He thought for a while, then suddenly showed an expression of realization. Confidently, he grinned and said, “I know. Brother Lu must be thinking that they need to eat their fill before fighting, so he decided to eat first, then find a place to fight.”
“Makes sense. Then do we keep waiting here?” Houzi asked.
Gurgle, gurgle…
Wu Qi touched his rumbling stomach and said, “They probably won’t come out anytime soon. Let’s find somewhere to eat dinner first too.”
“Mm-hm. Good idea.”
Although this area did not have as much foot traffic as the city center, there were quite a few places to eat. The two quickly chose a restaurant and walked in together.
