After Transmigrating As The Film Empress Sister’s Kept Alpha - Chapter 10
Shen Yishu slept extremely deeply.
All her years of studying had taught her one thing:
Even if the sky collapsed, she would have to wake up before she could hold it up.
However, no one had ever nuzzled her awake while she was still in school.
Ji Xiangyu’s sleep quality had always been terrible. Her ten-year career had tempered her mind, but the price had been her sleep.
As far back as she could remember, she had never shared a bed with anyone, so naturally, she had no idea what her sleeping habits were like.
Shen Yishu stared at the face beside the crook of her arm and fell into deep thought.
She vaguely remembered that when they went to sleep, a galaxy had separated them across the two-meter-wide mattress.
Now, that galaxy had disappeared.
In its place was a comet crashing into a planet, the two celestial bodies pressed intimately together.
When two planets collided, they shattered into pieces.
When a young Alpha and Omega cuddled together, the person who woke first was left with a mind as confused as a meteor crater.
If Ji Xiangyu shed her cold and severe aura whenever she was exhausted, then after falling asleep, all that remained was quiet gentleness.
She lay on her side beside Shen Yishu’s shoulder, wrapped in her own blanket. Her breathing was calm and even, and she slept with remarkable peacefulness.
Because both of them had been keeping a polite distance, Shen Yishu had fallen asleep near the edge of the mattress, leaving only a few centimeters between herself and the side of the bed.
Now that Ji Xiangyu had moved close to her, there was almost nowhere left for Shen Yishu to retreat.
Soft breaths brushed across her bare shoulder.
Shen Yishu’s body temperature ran warm, so her blanket only covered her up to the shoulders. The air conditioner had chilled the exposed skin, while Ji Xiangyu’s breath was warm.
She had not noticed anything while sleeping, but after waking, goosebumps spread across her entire body.
Shen Yishu considered getting up and moving to the other side of the bed.
Ji Xiangyu appeared to be sleeping soundly, so she probably would not wake if Shen Yishu moved.
Before she could act, however, sounds came from outside.
The second bedroom door opened, followed by a knock on the master bedroom door.
“Sister Yu, we found out which media company it was, but we didn’t catch the person who took the pictures. Should we call the police?” her manager asked.
Ji Xiangyu abruptly awakened.
Shen Yishu had remained awake the entire time and clearly saw the instinctive resistance and tension on Ji Xiangyu’s face when she opened her eyes.
Only after seeing Shen Yishu did she relax.
“Which company?” she asked hoarsely.
“Tianle.”
Her manager sighed outside the door.
The moment Ji Xiangyu heard the name, she frowned.
“There’s no need.”
She understood who had sent the person.
She sat up, climbed from the bed, switched off the floor lamp, opened the door, and closed it behind her.
The entire sequence of movements was smooth and natural, making her look nothing like someone who had only just awakened.
“If they ask for money, don’t pay them. Those photographs can’t be bought.”
Ji Xiangyu rubbed the space between her brows, looking deeply exhausted.
Shen Yishu’s cedarwood scent covered her body.
Fortunately, her manager was a female Beta and could not smell the pheromones clinging to her.
“What direction should we take for emergency public relations?”
Her manager was named Xu Fang and had worked with Ji Xiangyu for eight years.
She knew that Ji Xiangyu disliked being questioned about her private life, so she did not ask what had happened and went directly to discussing a solution.
“…”
Ji Xiangyu paused for two seconds.
“I’ll explain it to you tomorrow.”
Seeing the exhaustion on her face, Xu Fang did not insist.
“Have you still been sleeping poorly recently?”
The hand Ji Xiangyu was using to rub between her brows stopped.
She seemed to have slept exceptionally well tonight.
Had her manager not knocked, she probably could have slept until morning.
“Same as always,” Ji Xiangyu said without elaborating. “Be careful on your way back.”
Xu Fang nodded.
She had only remained there while waiting for them to identify the photographer. Now that they had found the media company, it was time for her to leave.
Even after her manager had completely departed, Ji Xiangyu had not recovered from her surprise.
She normally suffered from insomnia and frequent dreams.
Yet tonight, she had not dreamed at all.
When she returned to the master bedroom, Shen Yishu was still awake.
The situation involved her, so naturally, she had listened carefully.
Seeing Ji Xiangyu return and switch on the floor lamp, she watched her nervously.
“Did they catch the person?”
“You no longer have to repay that money.”
Ji Xiangyu spoke each word with difficulty.
“This situation is rather complicated. It originally had nothing to do with you, but you were accidentally dragged into it.”
Ji Xiangyu sat at the foot of the bed.
The dim yellow light illuminated half her profile and cast a slender shadow against the wall.
She wore a black camisole nightdress in a different style from the previous night. Her shoulder blades resembled a butterfly preparing to spread its wings beneath her thin neck.
During the day, she was cold, proud, and unapproachable.
She was the moon that never set in countless people’s hearts and the mountain that both her seniors and juniors could never avoid.
Yet at that moment, Shen Yishu caught a glimpse of vulnerability within the mottled light.
It flashed past like a fish swimming rapidly through the water, disappearing too quickly to see clearly.
“I’m not famous anyway. Even if we appear on the trending searches, people will only say I’m using you for attention,” Shen Yishu said openly.
She had not yet learned how to behave like a celebrity.
Her only experience came from her previous life, when she had been one of the rare people genuinely indifferent to the entertainment industry who occasionally glanced at trending topics.
“You’re remarkably optimistic.”
Ji Xiangyu stretched lazily.
The vulnerability vanished as quickly as it had appeared, leaving Shen Yishu wondering whether she had imagined it.
Shen Yishu gave a small affirmative hum and tucked herself back beneath the blanket, intending to sleep.
She had lived in a shared dormitory during university, so sleeping in the same room as another person did not bother her.
Sharing a bed with Ji Xiangyu felt no different from staying in a twin room with a friend, each of them occupying a separate bed.
After all, there was an entire meter between them.
Ji Xiangyu, however, stopped before returning beneath the covers.
Shen Yishu followed her gaze toward the crumpled blanket beside her.
When Ji Xiangyu had risen, she had merely thrown the covers aside. Anyone could immediately see where the person wrapped in them had been sleeping.
Shen Yishu: “…”
She met Ji Xiangyu’s suspicious gaze with large, innocent, watery eyes.
“Did I move over there by myself?” Ji Xiangyu asked.
Shen Yishu nodded frantically.
“…”
Ji Xiangyu decided she should not sleep in the same bed as Shen Yishu again tonight.
However, the temptation of sleeping well was too powerful.
She wanted to enjoy a little more proper rest.
This opportunity would disappear once the night ended. She could hardly call Shen Yishu upstairs again tomorrow and ask her to sleep together.
Besides, her manager had slept in the second bedroom. It was perfectly reasonable for Ji Xiangyu not to want to sleep there afterward.
With that justification, she felt far more confident.
She sat on the bed, pulled her blanket toward herself, closed her eyes, and stopped speaking.
At dawn, just as the sun began rising, Shen Yishu was nuzzled awake again.
This time was even more excessive.
Previously, Ji Xiangyu had merely rubbed her face against her.
Now, she had thrown one leg across Shen Yishu’s blanket.
Although the slender, long leg merely rested on top of it, it seemed to possess the weight of a thousand pounds, pressing Shen Yishu into discomfort.
She suffered both emotionally and physically.
After remaining in the same position for so long, Shen Yishu felt as though her entire body had gone numb.
Her heart was suffering as well.
One was an Alpha who had only recently emerged from her rut. The other was an Omega still in the prolonged stage of her heat.
They had also marked each other.
The result was simple:
Whoever woke first was the unfortunate one.
Ji Xiangyu finally awakened.
She had slept exceptionally sweetly throughout the night, and even her gloomy mood from the previous evening had improved considerably.
Then she noticed Shen Yishu’s resentful stare.
Ji Xiangyu raised an eyebrow.
“Didn’t you sleep well?”
Shen Yishu was furious but did not dare complain.
Her IOU had not yet been returned, and she was still relying on Ji Xiangyu’s promise to protect her.
She could not offend the powerful person supporting her.
“I slept very well. Young people simply don’t need much sleep.”
Ji Xiangyu: “?”
Looking at the dark circles beneath Shen Yishu’s eyes, Ji Xiangyu showed nothing outwardly but felt rather pleased inside.
Yesterday, Ji Xiangyu had slept badly while Shen Yishu rested soundly.
Today, their positions had finally reversed.
Shen Yishu silently climbed out of bed and decided that she would never sleep beside Best Actress Ji again.
